Earth’s WarmingBy: Erin Shortall & Calvin Thomke
Greenhouse Effect, Climate Change, Global WarmingGreenhouse Effect= the warming of Earth’s surface during the day, and the cooling of Earth at night, releasing the heat into the atmosphere, which is trapped by greenhouse gases. Average temperature of 59 degrees Fahrenheit.Climate Change= long-term change in Earth’s climate, or of a region on Earth. May spur hurricanes, floods, droughts, famines, disasters.Global Warming= direct result of adding too much carbon dioxide into atmosphere, causing Earth to heat. Average American releases 20 tons of carbon dioxide each year.
How They Are Related.Carbon Dioxide Greenhouse Effect Global Warming Climate ChangeCarbon Dioxide goes into the atmosphere, which are then trapped by Greenhouse Gases. That blocks Earth from sunlight, causing Global Warming, making Earth warmer causing a climate change.
Primary CausesGreenhouse GasesHumansFossil FuelsCarbon DioxideMethane from landfills and agricultureNitrous Oxide from fertilizersGases from refrigeration and industryLoss of forests that would store CO2
ConsequencesHurricanesFloodsDroughtsFaminesDisasters
Global Warming Impacting EconomyPrice of energy has gone upRepairs needed for damages done by hurricanes, tidal waves, tornadoes, etc.^ Repairs are very costly
Fighting Global WarmingPlant and protect trees“Go green.”Electric cars to decrease pollution from cars.Different methods of transportationSolar panelsNatural fueling instead of fossil fuels
Arguments Against ItMost scientists think human activities do not impact global warming or the Earth’s climate. Some scientists say reliable sources of temperature show no global warming trend.
Personal OpinionsWe believe in Global Warming, however, based on the 0.75 degree increase in a century, it would take a very long time to actually affect us.
