2. The Democratic Government Of Canada
Summary
The Liberal Government of Canada has promised the implementation of a new
electoral system within the next 18 months according to the second chapter of the
document Real Change: A New Plan for a Strong Middle Class. The document seeks
to affirm that the 2015 election will be the last federal election held under the first
past the post electoral system and that many reform options will be thoroughly
explored to replace it. Proportional representation (PR) systems appears to be the
most beneficial and logical alternatives to our current system. However, there is
variety of different forms of proportional representation and this paper will seek to
explain why Single Transferable Vote is the most viable proportional representation...

Regionalism allows for some voters to have more power with their votes, particularly
Ontario and Quebec over other provinces thus furthering regional tension and divide.
Voters in areas with a lesser impact on the Election outcome may feel a sense of
voter apathy and will be less likely to engage with political discourse.
Potentially wasted ballots on small fringe parties with no chance of winning or in
electoral districts with a strong partisan leaning.
Parties that have a diffuse national support may be underrepresented in House of
Commons, The New Democratic Party and in some historical instances the
Conservative Party have been negatively impacted by this.
The inverse of the prior problem occurs as well, parties with a concentrated regional
support become over represented in the House of Commons; The Bloc Quebecois
have traditionally been an example of this.
Strategic voting may occur to ensure a party is removed from power, voters will
vote for an opposing party with a good chance of winning versus a party with lesser
support but whose platform they agree with.
On Election Day a winner can be determined before polls across Canada close, once
the Maritimes, Quebec and Ontario are counted, a winner can be determined before
the polls close out West.

3. Female Pattern Baldness
Being a young women suffering from hair loss is one of the worst thing in life. A
woman s hair is the essence of her beauty, and the affects of hair loss are a
crippling blow to a women s confidence. However statistics show that only 27% of
women deal with hair loss before the age of 50, that being said most women under
the age of 50 will never have to go through the emotional trauma of hairloss.
Unfortunately for me, I was had to deal with hair loss under the age of 50. It was
very humiliating experience but some how I found a way to over come this.
Through my diligent research on the subject, now I have a head of beautiful and
long hair once again. I found that the best way to fight hair loss as women is to
first know the reasons for why it happened and how to deal with it. The reason for
this is because we are all unique in every way and to just research on one way it can
happen is not smart and it can be counter productive.
The misconception many women have when it comes to dealing with hair loss is that
it has to be hereditary but this is very far from the truth. The truth is female pattern

An out of balance level of the female hormones such as androgen and estrogen are
most commonly linked causes of hair loss within women. Another hormone is
Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is considered a male hormone but women also
have a small amount that runs through their blood, some higher than others. When
a female inherits hair follicles that are supersensitive to DHT, they may start to
lose hair just like men do. The best way to combat this problem is to start doing
more aerobic exercises. Doing aerobics is a natural and healthy way for lowering
DHT production. Another way is trying a legitimate hair loss treatment but this can a
very expensive proposition because I can personally testify that 90% of the hair loss

4. Survey Of Literature Review
2 Survey of Literature Milena Milenkovic et. al [6] have presented experimental flow
for the benchmark tests that determine the organization and size of a branch predictor
using on chip performance monitoring registers. Technical note by Scott McFarling
[7] presents discussion on how the implementation leading to degree of instruction
level parallelism plays an advantageous role in boosting computing performance and
suggested a method for combining different types of branch predictors for
maximizing prediction accuracy for a given predictor size. Yeh and Patt [3] have

different levels, namely, branch execution history and pattern history; the scheme

The motivation behind the whole work rests on various fundamental concepts
taken from the work of Daniel A. Jimenez and Clavin Lin [2, 4] and Daniel A.
Jimenez [5,8,16]. The branch predictor binary was successfully built using di erent
compilers and tested under different platforms: (1): GNU C++ under Linux
distribution CentOS Release 4.8, i386, 32bit; (2): Cygwin 32bit environment
under Windows 7 and (3): Bloodshed Developer C++ (DevC++ 5.0.2). Literature
survey has revealed that the proposed approach is unique and novel. 3 Background

Architecture (ISA) of any microprocessor. A jump is a control flow instruction,
which can be broadly divided into two categories: (a) Conditional Branch (CB) and
(b) Unconditional Branch (UB). Based on a run time condition, CBs can be
further classified as Forward CBs (FCBs), also called a forward jump, where the
Program Counter (PC) is changed so as to point to an address ahead of the current
position in the instruction stream; and Backward CBs (BCBs), a backward jump,
where the PC is changed to point backward in the instruction stream. This is

5. Neo-Aristotelian Rhetoric Analysis
Introduction
Every four years in United States of America fellow Americans gather in front of a
television screen at home, in a class room or in the work place to watch who the
potential candidates for the presidency. Not all Americans are politicians, but they
watch to see which of these candidates steals their heart and who they will want to
become the next President of the United State of America. Creating a contest for
the candidates among each other, regardless if they are in the same party or not.
There is only one first place! Only one person can become President. Every word,
action and language that they use matters at this point. What languages were used to
consider Barack Obama Out of Many, One speech an electrifying speech? How did
he steal the hearts of the American people? When stepping up on that stage one must
steal the hearts of their fellow American people and not only of their own party,
telling Americans what they can do for the United States of America as the next
president. Using Neo Aristotelian Criticism, I will analyze former President Barack
Obama s 2004 Democratic Convention speech, ... Show more content on

Neo Aristotelian is the first formal method of rhetorical criticism formed by the
communication field (Foss, 2009). In the year of 1925, Herbert A. Wichelns detailed
the central features of the Neo Aristotelian method in The Literacy of Oratory (Foss,
2009). Before Wichelns method, there was no guideline to how properly conduct
Criticism (Foss, 2009). This method is commonly used for analyzing speeches and
other spoken discourses given to an audience of any sort. Neo Aristotelian involves
four steps: choosing the artifact, analyzing the artifact, formulating a research
question and lastly, writing the essay. The difference from Neo Aristotelian criticism
and other criticism methods can be found in one of the steps, which is analyzing the
artifact
6. Softball Compare And Contrast
Volleyball and Softball are two international sports that are played on professional
levels, yet they have many differences. Volleyball and softball are loved by many
people around the world. Softball is a variation of the American sport baseball.
While volleyball has different components it is also an American sport that
combines the characteristics from tennis and handball. Even though they are two
different sports they are different in many ways. The first difference is the
environment, the second difference is the requirements, and lastly the rules.
Softball is an outdoor sport it has an open field it also has an dugout for players
that are not in the game it has a big gate to protect them if the ball gets thrown or
hit around that area the field has dirt and white squares around the circle of the game
know as bases for players to run on. Volleyballcan be an indoor and outdoor sport

Volleyball requires good upper and lower body structure, well balance, and speed
in order to be played correctly. A player will need a volleyball, comfortable
clothing, knee and elbow pads to protect your knees and arms from becoming
scraped .on the other hand, softball requires very good arm strength to use for
batting and throwing it is also very important to build strong thigh muscles,
hamstrings and upper and lower back muscles to be well prepared to play on a
high level. Even though softball and volleyball use the same muscle groups, they
are different because volleyball safety equipment requires knee and elbow pads
while softball requires a helmet and a chest protector for player s safety. The
components of these two sports are very different and so are the
7. Macbeth Power And Influence
We as people often say Having a high position of power is bad but we never
consider the power behind an individual person and the influence their words may
have. For example, in society some of us dress, act and talk a curtain way to fit in
because if you do something different someone will judge you and say things about
you. What this is doing is influencing our everyday decisions. We often underestimate
the powerour words may have on another. This is prominent when asking ourselves
in the The Tragedy of Macbeth who actually holds the most power to influence
others actions. After receiving a prophecy that Macbeth would become king and all
these things that could happen. Macbeth went on a huge ambitious journey and
committed acts out of fear and personal benefit. For example, he killed the former
King in order to be, his friend Banquo and attempted to kill his son. So who in The
Tragedy of Macbeth had the most power to influence? The source can be traced back
to the prophecy givers themselves, the Witches.

to think about what actually drove him to do it. What influenced him to even think
about killing King Duncan. That can be only traced back to when the witches told
him that he would be king. All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter. (I.III.50)
That shows that Macbeth knew he would become king and since the witches told him
that it influence his thought to kill King Duncan so he can take the
8. The Impact Of The March On Washington
One of the major goals of the American Civil Rights movement was to give all
people, regardless of race, equal rights. In the United States, civil rights are supposed
to be for all people. Throughout history, people have had to fight for their rights
when others tried to deny them. Today all people get to do what they would like to
and not have to hide. The March on Washington changed the course of history and
without that march, things would not be as they are today.
The March on Washington affected the Civil Rights movement and was brought up
upon A. Philip Randolph. His goal was dominated by demands of southern civil
rights movement (History). Randolph was hoping that he could get President John F.
Kennedy to make a Civil Rights bill in Congress (King Encyclopedia). Every civil
rights group participated and helped with the March. Although, some of the groups
felt strongly about different topics, they all went and supported Randolph. After all of
the supporters showed up, there was about a quarter of a million blacks AND whites
there (Finlayson )Some people thought this event was going to turn violent but they

and the National Association of the Advancement of Colored People president, Roy

9. Analysis Of A Plea For The Oppressed
To be a woman meant that one had no say in regards to political affairs or in
government making decisions. If being a woman had limitations, imagine what a
black woman experienced, as they were considered less than human and mistreated
more than any other female from any different background. In A Plea for the
Oppressed , Lucy Stanton, one such black woman, tried to avail her people s plight
upon an audience of white women, to support the antislavery and reform cause.
Lucy Stanton was born a free women and raised by John Brown, an abolitionist.
She was the first African American woman to graduate from a four year collegiate
course. A black woman going to school is extraordinary, because she challenged the
women are only housewives stereotype and rose like a phoenix from the ashes as an
influence to future abolitionists and authors in the United States. Being a black
woman in the 1850s, the odds were stacked against her. The majority of black
students were denied admission to educational facilities, although white women were
considered as non intellectuals, black women were seen as less than that. In her
address, she used pathos to grab the attention of the audience, by talking about
happiness being achieved only by doing things that benefited others and that
enslaving another is no different from dehumanizing them. The structure of her
address shows the passion she had for the freedom of her people as well as the urge
to unite women to join her cause. In her essay, she wants to inspire women to connect
their maternal instincts to the abolitionist movement and give sympathy to the slaves
as if they were their own flesh and blood.
As a black woman, she was doing things not even white women and a few men
were capable of, especially coming from the least privileged group of people. The
fact that she, as a woman of color, went on stage in front of an audience of
predominately white women, manifests the courage she built up in order to speak
her mind to the people regarding the antislavery cause. Stanton was able to go
against the building blocks of how white Americans viewed the blacks and showing
that black people are not subjugated to the illiterate reputation given to them is a
reform of its own. Two weeks
10. Ecocritical Analysis Of Nehru
Abstract: The main objective of this study is to attempt an ecocritical analysis of
Jawaharlal Nehru s Glimpses of World History. Jawaharlal Nehru (1889 1964) is one
of the greatest statesmen and writers of the twentieth century. He has written a
number of books of which Glimpses of World History is an outstanding contribution
to Indian Literature in English. His letters to his daughter clearly reveal Nehru s
interest on ecocritical tropes and his ecological sensibility. As a lover of nature, he
imparts this characteristic to his daughter, Indira Gandhi too. Ecocriticism has gained
the attention of many scholars over the last three decades throughout the world. It
depicts the relationship between human and nature depiction of nature in literature.
This theory has been gaining popularity day by day because of the ecological
disaster which the humans witness in everyday life. This study analyses the letters
of Nehru from an ecocritical point of view by using various ecocritical tropes like
wilderness, pastoral, animals, and pollution and apocalypse (ecocide) for
understanding the ecological sensibility of Nehru. This study s approach is to

11. Tenochtitl Capital Of The Aztec Empire
Tenochtitlan was the capital of the Aztec empire. It was one of the largest cities in
the world in 1521. It evolved from a small settlement on an island in the western
marshes of Lake
Texcoco, into the mighty political, economic and religious center of the largest
empire in Pre
Columbian Mexico in less than 200 years. Tenochtitlan was a city of great wealth at
the time.
Most construction of Tenochtitlan took place during the reigns of four Azteckings
beginning in the 1470s. The ruins of the once great Aztec city are still visible today a
thousand years later. Canals and rivers ran throughout the city and canoes were used
to transport people and goods throughout the city. There were also 2 aqueducts that
supplied the city with fresh

12. Gertrude And Ophelia Essay
Throughout history, women have traditionally played a miniscule part in almost all
aspects of life. Consequently, this has been reflected Shakespeare s Hamlet with the
existence of only two named female characters Gertrude, the queen of Denmark and
Ophelia, the prince s lover who are portrayed as delicate and helpless. Gertrudeand
Ophelia appear to be trivial, submissive heroines who fade into the background of a
patriarchal society then die tragically; however, upon further analysis, they are
clearly vital to the plot and flow of the play. Gertrude and Ophelia greatly influence
the male characters and abet the action in Hamlet.
Shakespeare presents Gertrude and Ophelia as traditional ladies of the Elizabethan
Era who are inferior and defined by their relationships with men. Gertrude and
Ophelia s characters are there to be used by and to serve men (Wagner 94). Women
were so easy to control because of their dependency on men. Hamlet s famous insult,
Frailty; thy name is woman, perfectly captures the sexist attitudes and gender bias in
Shakespeare s time (1.2.150). He claims that frailty and weakness is the hamartia of
all women.

helplessness without a man s guidance. On the contrary, while Hamlet is still
struggling with his decision to be or not to be, Ophelia actively chooses not to be.
Ophelia took her own life, on her own terms (3.1.64). This makes a major impact in
Hamlet. Laertes, who already has wants to kill Hamlet for stabbing his father to
death, is driven over the edge by Ophelia s suicide. Her death is the catalyst for the
tragic ending of
13. The Tumultuous Transformations Of The Arab World
The tumultuous transformations of the Arab World
Rami G. Khouri discusses his opinion on the lingering issues of the Middle East in a
talk held on October 27th, at 7:00pm in the Koffler building. The room resembled
more of an auditorium packed with millennials, senior citizens and age groups in
between, all with their full attention on the speaker. Throughout his talk, Khouri
explained how the last century has been exceptionally problematic for the Arabians
due to zero political development, the Arab Israeli conflict, and the Arabian
revolution. Khouri s main argument is that there is an entirely new situation at hand
due to Turkey, Iran, Israel, and Saudi Arabia currently driving the actual developments
of the Middle East and the Superpowers unhelpful ways.
Rami G. Khouri takes a personal approach on the topic of issues in the Middle East
since he was born into a Christian, Arab Palestinian family and has reported on the
Middle East since 1971. George Khouri, his father, is a Nazarene journalist in
Palestine and covered the United Nations debates about the future of Palestine in
1947. Khouri decided to follow in his father s footprints and became a journalist and
editor with joint Palestinian Jordanian and United States citizenship. During the
speech I attended, he states that we end up with a situation in which it becomes easy
for Arabs to blame Israel and the Western powers for the problems of our region. He
believes that the truth is in between, with Arab, Israeli
14. Parviz Amin Quotes
Imagine that one day you had to leave behind everything you ve ever know. You
had to leave your family and your country because it was slowly falling apart and
you had no idea if you would ever get to see it again. How would you react? In the
novel Septembers of Shiraz this is exactly the situation Parviz Amin is dealing with.
His homeland, the country of Iranhas been overtaken by a group called the
Revolutionary guards. This group hates anyone and everyone who supported or
was related to the Shah which was the previous ruler of the country. It just so
happens Parviz s father meets that description and eventually is arrested by the same
group for being suspected of being a zionist spy. Parviz has to deal with all of this all
the way on the opposite side of the globe in New York Cityalong with his own issues
of just starting out his college life. His negative attitude about this whole situation
definitely isn t helping either. Parviz s pessimistic attitude and lack of beliefs
causes a strongly negative affect on his situation and his daily life. Parviz Amin is
a young adult starting college in New York City which is almost on the opposite
side of the world from his homeland of Iran. He is alone and staying with a strict
Jewish family called the Mendelsons who are very kind and understanding towards
him yet this doesn t stop their difference in viewpoints from interfering with their
relationship. It is shown clearly in the novel that Parviz isn t very interested in
religion which ends up preventing him from really interacting with The
mendelson s in the way they would like to. This is shown here when they ask
Parviz to join them in celebrating a Jewish holiday, He tells himself that no matter
how lonely he gets, he will not go so far as to persecute himself by sitting at their
table, celebrating a day that to him is no different than any other day (Sofer, 42).
Parviz shows many signs of loneliness throughout the book just like in this part but
the fact he doesn t realize is that he is the cause of all his loneliness. If he had
overlooked the fact it wasn t his religion and bonded with the family anyway he
would not be lonely. Not only does he almost force himself to be lonely he also feels
that his

16. Media Activism In Social Media
Introduction
With the influx of social media use, the way activism is conducted also has to
adapt to the changing times. It is so easy for students, leaders, and other individuals
to tweet or post about their political view or support for a movement. President
Trump has used twitter as one of his biggest social media platforms. The biggest
question now is if social media activism works?
The two biggest social media platforms that activists use are Twitter and Facebook.
The hashtag was created by twitter and launched in August 2007. In 2016, there was a
total of 1.3 billion accounts created, there are reports that 24 million accounts are
bots. There are 24.6% journalists on twitter. 83% of world leaders on twitter, and
79% of accounts are held outside of the USA. There are 500 million tweets daily.
With 500 million tweets, daily (Smith 2016). Looking at Facebook, there are 2
billion monthly active users (Sparks 2017). With more than 50 million businesses
that have pages, with 70% of companies outside of the USA (Dawney 2016).
Since, social media activism is so new, there are two different beliefs about the topic.
One group believes that the hashtag and social media activism is not enough. Shonda

Mass I believe the mass is actual. The Bridge itself is the bulk of the artwork, its

Light Discrimination between light and dark.
1. Seeing light Light appears to be reflecting in the water and in the skies horizon.
The waters value is of a lighter choice of colors where as the tunnels and the

the buildings to show depth. The water definitely has strong value contrasts where as
the buildings in the back going into the distance have minimal contrasts. 3. Light as a
Medium The pigments used carry the medium in the painting.
Color Color is definitely an important fact in this piece. This particular artist
developed Fauvism along with Henri Matisse. Using bold colors and exaggerating
color in their art. Derain was known as a Les Fauves painter. Les Fauves believed
that color should be used to express the artists feelings about a subject, rather than
simply describe what it looks like. This painting has two main characteristics a
simplified drawing with exaggerated color.
Texture The texture used in the London Bridge creates the feeling of the art. The
texture used is implied.

In the novel, Montana 1948, written by Larry Watson, a story of a young boy
named David and the events of a cataclysmic summer holidays are recounted. Set in
the heart of North America in the 19th century, when Native Americans were
considered B class citizens and persecution was inevitable ever since the Europeans
first arrived on the continent. David matures in a short span throughout the text
from naivety to maturity as a result of the series of horrendous events he
experiences. The murder and sexual assault of Marie Little Soldier evokes a case in

...after what I observed as a child in Bentrock. I could never believe in the rule of

fell in the summer of 1948 sum up that law to David is a failure and has no power
when in the hands of law handlers themselves. In the end it s up to the power holder,
not the law. This is what Watson is trying to say.
Prevailing throughout the novel is also the theme of abuse of power under the Hayden
name. The Hayden family in this story are a symbolism for the law. Watson uses
them to show the readership how the law and justice are constantly abused and
loop holes are found as ways out to punishments that should be deserved. Such as
when Wes arrests Frank he puts him in the basement instead of jail. They can t
arrest us, we are the law Wes is quoting Julian to Gail. This shows that the Hayden s
do not respect the law as they use it how they please to get things they want. They
are able to do this because of their position in the system and the community, Wes is
the sheriff of Bentrock as this has been passed on from his father. Julian s position
of power as David s first impression implies he wanted, he needed, power . Watson s
authorial intent is that if you are of high social class then you are almost free to do
whatever you like, the law is in your hands because people will believe anything you

opportunity. Historically, workers migrate to cities in search of employment and
upward mobility, as demonstrated by many cities migration patterns in the early
twentieth century as a result of the Industrial Revolution. However, Glaeser claims
that in order to attract wealthy people, like Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal to
London, a citymust prove to be pleasant and not only abundant in opportunity but in
entertainment because of all the people cities import. Restaurants are a major source

cities like Honolulu whereas a high real wage describes how one must cope with

city with sufficient urban amenities, while those high real wages were a sign of
urban failure the painful crime rate and disintegration of urban amenities (104).
According to the data given of American metropolitan areas, Fresno has the lowest
real wages at $44,501 while Tulsa has the highest at $70,260. By Glaeser s argument,
Fresno should be the metropolitan area with the greatest amenities. However, Fresno
has the lowest median family income and second highest cost of living index. Out of
the five cities, Boston is the most cosmopolitan. The city is rich with entertainment
establishment and enjoys a high median family income. Yet, Fresno appears to offer
more amenities than Boston and definitely Tulsa with the highest real wage. In
Glaeser s logic, a city must be doing something wrong if it has high real wages.

22. ASP.NET Web Forms
At this time there are a good deal of ASP.NET web forms coders out there who
admit that they simply don t have an understanding of ASP.NET MVC. In a lot of
ways, I can associate with them. The expressive fraction that talks about ASP.NET
MVC speak about it with such fervour that they make it appear like you d have to
be a idiot not to change over. In reality, the selection isn t nearly as straight forward.
ASP.NET web forms aren t going anywhere. These methods have their right place in
a web developer s toolbox and it s crucial to discover their strengths and flaws. In
general, the ASP.NET MVC frameworkhas a tendency to give up ease of use (e.g.
viewstate, validation, etc.) in order to supply developers stronger control over the
reins. This can be a terrific thing, but only if you take advantage of it. If not it can
just as easily be a issue.
With all of this, I have developed a swift metric to establish if ASP.NET MVC is
right for you. The way I see it, there are three primary purposes a developer should
select the ASP.NET MVC framework over ASP.NET web forms. If none of these
factors are compelling to you, then you need to stick with ASP.NET web forms:
To Increase Control and Extensibility
As indicated out in the commentary, ASP.NET MVC supplies you much more control
and extensibility options than ASP.NET web forms. You get entire control over the
page request lifecycle and the ability to replace out several key items of the
framework (e.g. view engine, routing,

24. Characteristics Of Shakespearean Tragedy
2. SHAKESPEAREAN TRAGEDY
Shakespearean tragedy is the title given to most tragedies written by the playwright
William Shakespeare. Shakespearean tragedy began, roughly speaking, with marked
indebtedness to the tragic writing of Marlowe and Kyd: poetry, character, and style
from Marlowe; motive, plot, and tragic intensity from Kyd. No evidence suggests
Shakespeare was ever particularly aware of or influenced by, Aristotelian theories of
tragedy . (Bevington, 1980) The plays we usually have in mind when we think about
Shakespearean tragedy are the classics like Titus Andronicus (written between 1590
94), Romeo and Juliet (1594 96), Julius Caesar (1599), Hamlet (1599 1601), Othello
(1603 04), King Lear (1605), Macbeth (1606 07), Antony and Cleopatra (1606 07),
and Coriolanus (1608) derived from Plutarch. Troilus and Cressida, Timon of Athens,
and Cymbeline were listed as tragedies in the First Folio. Characteristics of a
Shakespearean tragedy are found in many of his histories, but since they are from real
figures throughout England s history, they were classified as histories in the First
Folio. Exceptions from this are the Roman histories, also from historical figures:

Coupled with the elusiveness of the wind to the human eye the effect is that the
wind is an amp;#8220;uncontrollable ; power that cannot be contained. In the fifth
stanza Shelley refers to amp;#8220;the incantation of this verse ;(l.65) this is of
pagan origins and he is invoking the wind to work through him. As a magician the
wind works it amp;#8217;s magic throughout nature and it knows no bounds as the
earth, water and air all feel it amp;#8217;s power. The imagery associated with this
suggests that Shelley expected his work to also spread over the universe, like the
wind, and inspire others just as the wind was an inspiration to him. The
amp;#8220;dead thoughts ; he refers to could be the words he has written down
that die as soon as they are recorded. Although not the source of his inspiration
others could read them and experience what he felt in that wood that skirts the

perception and it is associated with an object of pure thought an unknown power

the first stanza as amp;#8220;the leaves dead / Are driven amp;#8230; to their wintry

29. Literature Color Symbolism
The Color of Literature
Color symbolism can be used to set the tone of a story and aspects within that story.
Colors can invoke an emotional response as well as paint a picture of a character or
scene within the story. In exploring the story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
(Damrosch, Pike 1200 59) along with Christopher Columbus letter The Green and
Beautiful Land (Columbus 1 7) there are three main colors that stand out. The first
color, as shown in both titles, is green. Green plays a significant role in both tales as
it is the main color of the antagonist in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and the
supple landscape that is described by Columbus. Green also represents negative
aspects in the stories such as misfortune and lack of ... Show more content on

Columbus also describes the islands to have marvelous pine groves, and extensive
meadow country (2) which again symbolizes the nature and fertility of the islands. At
the end of Columbus letter, he tells the king and queen that he can send gum mastic,
aloe wood, and rhubarb, all of which are green and represent the fertility of the new
lands (5).
Columbus describes the native islanders as wondrous[ly] timid and delighted to
receive items of little or no value from the crewmen (2). It is in this description that
the reader imagines the inexperience of the islanders, a negative often associated with
the color green.
The next representation of color is of gold, or yellow. Yellow represents idealism,
vitality, and gold, or wealth as well as cowardice, greed, and deceit ((Rohrer;
Smith). The Green Knight s attire was adorned with color, bright gold on silk
broideries banded most richly (1207). The saddle blanket of both the Green Knight
s horse and Sir Gawain s horse was embellished with gold trim. These detailings of
gold represent vitality and wealth. The wealth of Bertilak s castle is also seen in the
description of the lavish surroundings, from the curtains with clear golden hems to
the tapestries hung on ropes with red gold rings (1223). The account of lavish
surroundings may also give the impression of greed as well as wealth.
The color yellow symbolizes idealism and

Of...
The Church of Satan and the Church of Scientology are both new religious
movements that share a fascination with the individual self in which they place a lot
of attention on this concept. I believe the reasoning for such a focus on the self is
because conventional religion never emphasizes it. With that being said, both L. Ron
Hubbardand Anton Lavey went on to capitalize on this. They are two charismatic
leaders, wanted followers and therefore they tapped into an area that was never
discovered before. New religious movements tend to focus more on areas where
their previous religion never touch on, or restricted people from thinking that.
With that being said, these two leaders are suppose to add to people s lives and
that they did, although one seemed to care more about people s money. That
would be L.Ron Hubbard a former Navy officer who was twice relieved of duty for
erratic behavior. This man is just difficult to get an understanding of his personality.
While learning about L. Ron Hubbard it was clear that this man is just looking for
money. With program after program and books being pushed on to members to buy,
it looked like he started this religion because he needed a backup plan. It does not
appear that the Church of Scientologyreally cares about its member s individual self .
And it is the opposite of that with the Church of Satan with members are not given
the runaround, they are told from the beginning to explore self for themselves only.

Russian and American Political Systems in Comparative Perspective Russian and

governments provide a framework for three branches of government: the executive,
the legislative, and judicial. Both countries also have a bicameral legislature as well
as separate elections of the legislature and the executive branch. Both countries are

country, but ultimately have the same responsibilities. However, they are different
in political parties and the order of the country. Tocqueville states, Without

34. Biblical Allusions In Grapes Of Wrath
The Bible is most widely sold book in history, and possibly the most influential.
Contrast that with The Grapes of Wrath, a book that was banned in America until
rather recently, and the two seem very unrelated. However, John Steinbeck uses the
bible as a source of inspiration in The Grapes of Wrath and includes references to the
Biblethroughout the book. Steinbeck s book serves to protest the large big business
capitalism, that plagues the migrants throughout the book and promotes a socialist
revolution in the United States. The biblical references featured in The Grapes of
Wrathare meant to show the common people will always prevail over the powerful
minority, and there will always be a Christ like figure that will lead that revolution.
Steinbeck utilizes The Grapes of Wrath to open the reader to the idea of a democratic
socialist revolution in the United States by grounding his argument in biblical
allusions to emphasize his socialist rhetoric.
The biblical allusions of The Grapes of Wrath start even before the book is opened.
The title itself is an allusion to the book of Revelations , how God will come out of
the vineyard to purge the world of its evil. During an interchapter, Steinbeck calls
attention to his title in a passage to close the chapter. Steinbeck s philosophy in the
book is the need for a socialist society and he projects this onto the migrants, The
eyes of the people there is the failure; and in the eyes of the hungry there is a
growing wrath. In the

In the nineteenth century the Industrial Revolution had a huge impact on the market
revolution. The technological innovation in transpiration and communication all
helped connect the nation, and opened up new markets. Previously, most seamstress
were self sufficient, but some would make a few articles of clothing and sell. It wasn
t until the sewing machine were they could produce several pieces of clothing. The
advances in technology led the way, and open a new market for the textile industry it
also created many opportunities for women. Lowell, Massachusetts became one of
the most important cities during the Industrial Revolution, and was the center for the
textile industry. By the early 1820s many of largest textile factories were built in
Lowell, and with so many new technological changes the city soon, became a large
factorytown. For example the sewing machine, and the new main source of energy

sociable to unsociable, lively to unlively, active to inactive, assertive to

found that extraversion is highly related to traits of assertiveness and shyness
(p.361). Extraverts have many friends and enjoy being around other people while
introverts have a few intimate friends and enjoy spending their time alone. The
traits in extraversion are expansive in size and direction. Finally, neuroticism has

occurs among people (Larsen Buss, 2013, p.70). A major trait in P tends to be that of

37. Analysis Of Frederick Jackson s Turner Frontier Thesis
After the Civil War, America experienced a vast change with the influx of foreigners.
Many believed that America was filled with multiple opportunities that could
transform their lives. However, due to mass immigration many were forced to face
injustices, overcrowding, as well as questioning their identity. Riis and Turner were
both concerned with the influx of immigrants and how the increase of people affected
the American land. In Frederick Jackson s Turner frontierthesis, he describes how
important the frontier is to the development of America and how it allowed many to
obtain a new life. He describes how Americans have managed to transform the
wilderness little by little and making this new land their home, Little by little he
transforms the wilderness, but the outcome is not the old Europe, not simply the
development of Germanic germs...The fact is that here is a new product that is
American . The frontier thesis is also used to describe the individuality of America
and prove that it is an independent country that no longer has ties with other nations
as well as making it clear that America is unique in its own way. Westward expansion
offered many the opportunity to re identify themselves and create a nation that
offered a new form of American life.
The Frontier thesis emphasizes that Americans are now free from European powers
by stating that, In another way the advance of the frontier decreased our dependence
on England . Americans were now using their skills and

There are three types of RNA: mRNA, tRNA, and rRNA. Messenger RNA (mRNA)

information on the primary sequence of amino acids in a protein to be synthesized.
The genetic codes is translated is for mRNA, not DNA. The messenger RNA carries
the code from the nucleus to the ribosome in the cytoplasm where protein synthesis
occurs. It also carries the genetic information copied from the DNAin the form of a

particular amino acid. Each nucleotide triplet, called a codon, can be read from the

molecule is a site where an amino acid can attach. This specific structure of the
tRNA gives tRNA its ability to match a particular nucleic acid word (codon) with
its corresponding protein word (amino acid). There are about 45 different type soft
RNAs, each with a certain shape and a specific anticodon. The third type of RNA
is the ribosomal RNA (rRNA). In the cytoplasm, rRNA and several proteins
combine to form a nucleoprotein called a ribosome. The ribosome serves as the site
and carries the enzymes necessary for protein synthesis. Ribosomes are where protein
synthesis actually takes place; they consist of two subunits a large subunit and a small

Teaching new tasks to organisms can be a difficult process for any individual to
undertake. Psychologists, parents, teachers, and a wealth of other individuals attempt
to teach new tasks through a variety of methods such as by shaping the new desired
task, through reinforcement of it, or even through one trail learning. The different
methods that are used each have their benefits depending on what a person is
attempting to teach and can be better suited for different tasks dependent on what the
tasks are. The paper is going to cover the concepts of shaping and chaining, ... Show

In this way the researcher is still providing rewards to the rat as the responses get
the rat closer to pressing the button and the rat learns that it is not always getting a
reward if it does not do what it needs to do.
One trial learning
One trial learning is a theory much like the name sounds, learning that takes place in
one pairing of a response and a stimulus but is not strengthened over time by
repeated exposure to a stimulus ( One Trial Learning , 2014). This theory was
developed by American psychology Edwin Guthrie that believed individuals
learned from cues which tell a person to do a behavior rather than from being
conditioned through rewards that followed the behaviors. Many conditioned
responses occur as a result of the one trial learning such as taste aversion to certain
foods. The response happens through a single pairing of the stimulus and response
with no need for repetition. Taking the rat pressing the button Guthrie would believe
that rat would learn through cues that told the rat to press the button and no reward
would be given to the rat in order to get the rat to press the button. In the case of the
rat, the rat may be shown about pressing the button and then would be expected to be
able to do the behavior, thus learning from the single showing or one trial.

40. Methods Of Birth Control
Birth control is a way for men and women to prevent pregnancy. There are many
different methods of birth control, including hormonal contraception such as the birth
control pill.
Women take the pill by mouth to prevent pregnancy, and, when taken correctly, it is
up to 99.9% effective. However, the pill does not protect against sexually transmitted
diseases, including HIV (the virus that causes AIDS). The latex male condom
provides the best protection from most STDs. Other types of combined estrogen and
progestin hormonal contraception include the patch and the vaginal ring.
Planned Parenthood works to provide services you need, whether or not you have

ABSTRACT:
The disclosure of the vascular endothelial development component (VEGF)
relatives VEGF, VEGF B, placental development variable (PlGF),VEGF C and
VEGF D and their receptors VEGFR 1, 2 and 3 has given devices to contemplating
the vascular framework being developed and additionally in illnesses going from
ischemic coronary illness to malignancy. VEGF has been built up as the prime
angiogenic particle amid advancement, grown up physiology and pathology. VEGF C
and VEGF D are basically lymphangiogenic elements, however they can likewise
impel angiogenesis in a few conditions. While numerous studies have tended to the
part of angiogenesis and the blood vasculature in human physiology, the lymphatic
vascular framework has as of not long ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As of late VEGF expression has been exhibited in heart myofibroblasts, non
endothelial cells with the morphological elements of fibroblasts. Myofibroblasts
assume a noteworthy part in the development, improvement and repair of typical
tissue and are found at the site of localized necrosis. RT PCR, Northern blot and
Western blot investigation affirmed the vicinity of mRNA and protein for VEGF,
VEGFR 1 (VEGF receptor 1 otherwise called Flt 1, fms like tyrosine kinase) and
VEGFR 2 (KDR/Flk 1, fetal liver kinase 1 is the murine homologue of human

heart infarcts.10 Coexpression of VEGF and its receptors on the myofibroblasts
proposes that VEGF adds to tissue rebuilding at the site of dead tissue in an autocrine
way. VEGF might likewise assume a part in atherosclerosis. Uptake of oxidized low
thickness lipoprotein (bull LDL) by macrophages starts froth cell development in
atherosclerotic sores. Oxidized LDL expanded VEGF creation by the U937
monocyte cell line and by macrophages. As VEGF likewise increments vascular
penetrability, VEGF creation by froth cells and macrophages may bother
atherosclerosis by improving vessel porousness to
42. The Olympic Ice Hockey Team Winning A Game
The Miracle on Ice was more than just the United States Olympic Ice Hockey Team
winning a game. The win for the United States had major political impacts on the
United States, the Soviet Union and the Cold War.
The Soviet Union entered the Lake Placid games as the favorite, having won the last
four ice hockey gold medals all the way back to the 1964 games. In the four
Olympics following their 1960 loss to Team USA at Squaw Valley, Soviet teams had
gone 27 1 1 and outscored the opposition 175 44. In match ups against the United
States, the total score over those games was 28 7 with Russia outscoring the US. The
Soviet players, some were active duty military, played in an elite league in world
class training facilities. Many of the Soviet players were seasoned veterans with a
lot of experience in international play. The United States head coach, Herb
Brooks, conducted tryouts in Colorado Springs in the summer of 1979. Of the 20
players who eventually made the final Olympic roster, Buzz Schneider was the
only one returning from the 1976 Olympic team. Nine players had played under
Brooks at the University of Minnesota, which included Rob McClanahan, Mike
Ramsey, and Phil Verchota. Boston College and University of Minnesota were
perennial rivals in college hockey and the hostility spilled over from some of these
players when they ended up being teammates on the US Olympic team during the
first few months. The average age of the U.S. team was 21 years old, making it the
43. Porsche Case Study Essay
Executive Review
Porsche is a company that prides itself in quality and customer satisfaction. Because
of this customers are always considered to be first priority for the company. The
only issue with this business method is that the shareholders do not feel valued.
Porsche operates more like a family owned firm instead of focusing mainly on
shareholder value. While operating like a family owned firm may be admired by
some, it also has a downside. The company has been somewhat infamous for
occasional stubbornness when it comes to disclosure and compliance with reporting
requirements. Following these guidelines is a very important when trading publicly
not only because it is a requirement, but also to establish trust with investors. ... Show

2.Vesi wondered if her position on Porsche might have to distinguish between the
company s ability to generate results for stockholders versus its willingness to do so.
What do you think?
We think all companies should take shareholders value into consideration as long as
they issue stocks publicly traded, and thus need to have some ability to at least
stimulate the shareholders interest or curiosity. Yet a company still has a choice
whether to actually focus on its shareholders value like other companies do. This
Porsche s case clearly explains its unique managerial/marketing strategy that the
company essentially focuses on cost control, development of new products, and brand
loyalty and high quality of its automobiles that arouse customers desire to possess.
Therefore, in our opinion, Porsche doesn t put its shareholders value on the first
priority, but it still has to show some returns (results) for its shareholders.
3.Is pursuing the interests of Porsche s controlling families different from
maximizing the return to its public share owners?
Pursuing the interests of Porsche s controlling families seems different from
maximizing the return to its public share owners because in general increasing owner
s interests doesn t necessarily mean maximizing shareholders interests. Like other
companies
