continued to spend countless amounts of money trying to enforce the alcohol

A Twitch Upon The Thread
The second book of Evelyn Waugh s book Brideshead Revisited is, significantly,
entitled A Twitch Upon the Thread. The meaning of this title reflects on many
characters in this book, but particularly on Charles Ryder, the narrator and main
character. In Book I of this novel the characters generally become more and more
distanced from their faith. Book II is entitled A Twitch Upon the Thread because
this is when Charles and other characters start to find their faith again and get
pulled back into Catholicism, like an unseen hook and an invisible line which is
long enough to let him wander to the ends of the world and still to bring him back
(Waugh 220). For most of the novel it is clear that Charles is agnostic. Not until
the second book and ending do we see Charles slowly start his conversion from

The two pieces that will be compared are Haydn s Surprise Symphony No. 94 and
Radio Head s Pyramid Song. The two will be examined based on multiple music
concepts such as; meter, contrast, repetition, balance, musical features, texture and
form. I will also share my own personal thoughts of the two pieces, otherwise
known as affective response. The organization of the essay will be as follows. The
musical concepts will be explained for each piece and then compared to one
another. Lastly, my own interpretation and emotions for the pieces will be shared.
The meter for Haydn s piece would be a duple. The piece shows repetition of the
main melody with some contrast, thus creating a balanced sound. Though the
main melody is played throughout it varies with the use of different instruments
as well as changing the rhythm slightly, by making it faster by adding shorter notes
or making it drawn out with longer notes. There are no words to this piece and all
that is playing is an orchestra with the violins being the main focal sound. The
form of this piece would be ABC AB(varied) D AB(varied) Coda. This pattern
repeats itself throughout, but changes in variation slightly. The beginning also had

Canada s multicultural dynamic presents the country with a unique perspective
unlike no other. The nation is made up of citizens with different heritages, traditions
and practices that have positively integrated into Canadian society ever since the
government began to acknowledge diversity within the country. This paper will argue
that multiculturalismrepresents a qualitatively better approach to ethnic diversity than
did the Canadian immigration and cultural policies that preceded it. Restricted

They had no choice in the matter and children were going to be taught how to
assimilate into Canadian society. This was done through the implementation of a
residential school system and therefore be forced to lose ties to a culture they knew
their whole lives. They continued to be segregated socially, silenced politically, and
marginalized economically (76). The Canadian government in this period was vested
in decreasing diversity while promoting assimilation and limiting the multicultural

Increasingly, Canadians found the old policy incompatible with the liberal and
democratic values of Canada (71) along with increased disaffection with the policies
of assimilation on the part of minatory ethnic groups themselves (71). Social

The American Society has been feeding people lies. Many American s would
announce that society, as a whole is together, but it is rather apart in many ways. One
of the world s best journalist, Alex Kotlowitz, wrote False Connections, published in
the book Aims of Argument. Kotlowitz argues about the issues of poverty difference,
between the suburban white kids vs the inner citypoor teens. He explains how their
lives are different from each other but they have a common factor in social fashions
trying to make connections in a non connected world. Kotlowitz begins creating his
credibility with personal facts and personal examples from situations making his
sources more personal for the reader to understand. Throughout most of the article,
the writer uses pathos, logos and ethosas a tool win over the audience. In the article,
