Access to consistent, high-quality metadata is critical to finding, understanding, and reusing scientific data. However, while there are many relevant vocabularies for the annotation of a dataset, none sufficiently captures all the necessary metadata. This prevents uniform indexing and querying of dataset repositories. Towards providing a practical guide for producing a high quality description of biomedical datasets, the W3C Semantic Web for Health Care and the Life Sciences Interest Group (HCLSIG) identified Resource Description Framework (RDF) vocabularies that could be used to specify common metadata elements and their value sets. The resulting HCLS community profile covers elements of description, identification, attribution, versioning, provenance, and content summarization. The HCLS community profile reuses existing vocabularies, and is intended to meet key functional requirements including indexing, discovery, exchange, query, and retrieval of datasets, thereby enabling the publication of FAIR data. The resulting metadata profile is generic and could be used by other domains with an interest in providing machine readable descriptions of versioned datasets. The goal of this tutorial is to explain elements of the HCLS community profile and to enable users to craft and validate descriptions for datasets of interest.
LESS - Template-based Syndication and Presentation of Linked Data for End-users
LESS is a system that allows non-technical users to create templates for presenting Linked Data in a structured way. Templates are written using the LeTL template language, which is an extension of SMARTY. Templates can be stored and shared in a repository and dynamically populated with Linked Data or SPARQL query results. The LESS system provides a REST API to render templates into HTML or other formats. This workshop will build upon the work planned by the EOSCpilot data interoperability task and the BlueBridge workshop held on April 3 at the RDA meeting. We will investigate common mechanisms for interoperation of data catalogues that preserve established community standards, norms and resources, while simplifying the process of being/becoming FAIR. Can we have a simple interoperability architecture based on a common set of metadata types? What are the minimum metadata requirements to expose FAIR data to EOSC services and EOSC users?

Multi-language Content Discovery Through Entity Driven Search
This talk is about the description of the implementation of a Semantic Search
Engine based on Solr.
Meaningfully structuring content is critical, Natural Language Processing and
Semantic Enrichment is becoming increasingly important to improve the quality
of Solr search results .
Our solution is based on three advanced features :
Entity-oriented search - Searching not by keyword, but by entities (concepts
in a certain domain).
Knowledge graphs - Leveraging relationships amongst entities: Linked Data
datasets (Freebase, DbPedia, Custom ...)
Search assistance - Autocomplete and Spellchecking are now common features,
but using semantic data makes it possible to offer smarter features, driving
the users to build queries in a natural way.
The approach includes unstructured data processing mechanisms integrated with
Solr to automatically index semantic and multi-language information.
Smart Autocomplete will complete users' query with entity names and
properties from the domain knowledge graph. As the user types, the system
will propose a set of named entities and/or a set of entity types across
different languages. As the user accepts a suggestion, the system will
dynamically adapt following suggestions and return relevant documents.
Semantic More Like This will find similar documents to a seed one, based on
the underlying knowledge in the documents, instead of tokens.
Leveraging publication metadata to help overcome the data ingest bottleneck

It proposes integrating data submission with manuscript submission to journals to make data archiving integral to the publication process. This integrated approach would help overcome issues around orphan data and allow linking of publications to underlying data through identifiers. Personal Information Management for Software Engineering Researchers
Living in the time of abundance of information, publications, and social networks is a great opportunity for software engineering researchers. They can find much information about many projects, various relevant publications, and other researchers who did a work on a related topic. Yet, availability of (open source) software freely/publicly available is a great convenience for many. All this definitely opens up many exciting opportunities for a higher-quality and more creative research. However, this wealth causes another (bigger) challenge– how to manage and comprehend all that data and interactions and be able to contextualize the data to the research needs at hand?
In this talk, we will discuss a need for the development of new-generation personal information management systems for software engineering research. The key requirement is ubiquitous access, delivery and publishing of research data from “anywhere and anytime.” Through a more organic integration of software engineering tools, publication sources, collaborative and community research tools, researchers should be able to able to build their own personal research environments, which satisfy their personal needs, preferences, formal obligations, and life-long objectives. To illustrate some promising directions for personal research environments, we will discuss different examples built on principles of the Social Web, the Semantic Web, technology-enhanced learning, and computer-supported cooperative work.
Space proposal
This document proposes adding "space" support to the OS.next specification. It discusses the need for spaces, which would allow sharing contexts between multiple people, such as for a university course, Facebook group, or OpenSocial group. The key APIs would be updated to allow specifying a context ID and type instead of just a user ID. This would make the APIs for getting people, appdata, and groups compatible with both personal and shared spaces. Some clarification is still needed on appdata and the relationship between groups and roles. The proposal aims to implement spaces incrementally in Shindig without breaking backward compatibility when possible.
