The Environmental Education Center in Makrinitsa, Greece was founded in 1999 to provide educational programs about the local environment. It is housed in a historic stone mansion and led by a director and four education officers. The Center offers programs for local schools, adult education meetings and seminars, participates in environmental networks, and publishes educational materials. Since opening, it has educated over 71,000 students and 11,000 educators about topics like local herbs, water resources, and sustainable tourism in the Pelion region.
