We’ve all have heard the cliché “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” This statement isn’t intended to minimize your knowledge…but encourage you spend time in front of the right people. Learning how to network effectively and efficiently can help you at every stage of your professional career.
Her talk will use her own professional and personal experience to advise what to pack for the journey as artist, who to have as fellow travellers, where to take shortcuts, what maps to use, how to manage the ups and downs, and what to do if you feel stuck. Fundamentally her talk will show how to make an impact at every place you visit even they don’t understand the place you are coming from.

Building A Strong Engineering Culture - my talk from BBC Develop 2013Kevin Goldsmith
This is the keynote talk I gave at the BBC Develop conference in London, UK in November of 2013. In it I talk about what I believe makes a strong engineering culture, how to protect it if you have it, and how to fix it if you don't. I use a lot of examples from Spotify (where I am a Director of Engineering). As usual, I go a bit light on the bullets, since I prefer to talk, but I think you can still get the gist of my points.
Katina Strauch, College of Charleston
Katina Strauch began the Charleston Conference back in 1980 and The Conference has grown to be an international meeting attended by hundreds of librarians, publishers, vendors, and aggregators. She talked about why and how this happened (she thinks) and how, in 1989 (just prior to Hurricane Hugo) she decided to begin publication of Against the Grain, linking publishers, vendors, and librarians. Katina is Assistant Dean for Technical Services and Collection Development at the College of Charleston Libraries. The Charleston Conference and Against the Grain are private independently-operated entities.
This is a preview of the workshop sponsored by the DePaul Career Center that can help students and alumni understand the basics of good networking applied, and pick up a few things even the pros might have missed.

Most professionals take a reactive rather than proactive approach with their careers. They wait for a pay rise, promotion or recruiter to contact them before they think about doing something. But what if that call never happens? This often leads to a stagnated career where people are unhappy with what they do leading to a lack of skills progression, reduced motivation and engagement.
In this workshop, Mohammed Kasujee explains the importance of planning a career and help the participants create a defined career strategy. How to do it, what to look for and why - enabling them to feel excited and purposeful about their careers leading to greater job satisfaction and motivation.
Speaker
Mohammed is a Career Coach who helps his clients thrive in the world of work and business. His company, MK Career Solutions supports individuals in every step of the career journey from creating stand out CV’s, preparing clients for interviews and coaching them to find purpose and meaning in work.
In addition to managing his business he is also a Non-Executive Director for a Non-for-Profit organisation and provides mentorship to start-up businesses through the government’s ‘Help to Grow’ scheme.

CAMentrepreneurs Sydney Launch 2022.pdfRichard Lucas
This event will launch CAMentrepreneurs in Sydney with a pilot event hosted by Richard Lucas Linkedin Founder CAMentrepreneurs who will be visiting Sydney from Europe.
About the event
Expand your network in Sydney by meeting Cambridge & Oxford alumni, students and others interested in entrepreneurship. There are more than 1500 Cambridge and Oxford Alumni in Sydney so there is every reason to think that we could have a thriving group if 2% or more are into entrepreneurship. Our inclusive network offers local connections and global reach for entrepreneurs as well as the opportunity to re-connect with the Cambridge eco-system
This first event will enable prospective members to discuss the kinds of events they would want to attend or organise in Sydney, and make plans for 2023.
Richard Lucas will share his insights on the potential of the network to create value not just in Sydney but also around the world.
The majority of CAMentrepreneurs never attended an Alumni event until they came to one of ours.
Our events have a strong focus on participant engagement - be prepared to meet new people and make new connections.
If you want to make a short community announcement or pitch a business idea please let us know.
If you are interested in helping making a Sydney group thrive, please fill in this form
so we can contact you before the launch. If you are very keen to come, please use the "get involved" form, or make contact with Richard Lucas directly. We will give priority to those who want to help run CAMentrepreneurs in Sydney.
We are targeted at:
Alumni of the University and Judge & Said Business Schools who are in business, want to invest in/start companies, make new connections, find clients, co-founders, team members.
Students who are interested in entrepreneurship, finding investors, co-founders, jobs, internships, freelancing opportunities. If you are a student with a business idea or strongly supportive of entrepreneurship we encourage you to apply to attend.
While CAMentrepreneurs is centred on Cambridge University connected people, we are open to co-operation with other people and organisations that are interested in supporting entrepreneurship. In particular we work closely with Oxford alumni with a similar mindset where-ever they are open to it.
About CAMentrepreneurs
The purpose of CAMentrepreneurs is to support business and social entrepreneurship among Cambridge University alumni, current students and others. CAMentrepreneurs is global. Since its launch CAMentrepreneurs has held 59 events in Cambridge, Dubai, Dallas. Edinburgh, Glasgow, Helsinki, Houston, London, New York, Oxford, Paris, Vancouver and Warsaw, as well as online events.
CAMentrepreneurs operates on a TED -> TEDx model, in that we only launch a group when there are people in the city concerned who want to take the lead in getting a group off the ground (and there is sufficient interest).
The group is officially recognised by Cambridge University Alumni Office
