Enterprise mashups combine data from multiple sources into a single integrated view. They have evolved from early art forms like collage and extend capabilities by reusing existing web services and applications. Mashups allow for rapid, low-cost development of "situational applications" to meet specific group needs. They have become popular due to growing participation online and a need to blend enterprise and internet capabilities cost-effectively. Standards are being developed to improve mashup interoperability and security.
The Next Wave of AR: Mobile Social Interaction Right Here, Right Now!Tish Shute
I began by asking the question: Can we create an open framework for distributed augmented reality using "off the shelf" standards, e.g., the Google Wave Federation Protocol?
But the implications of this proposal go well beyond augmented reality and towards an open framework for in context mobile social communication.

Good Tech: Can Technology Tackle Wicked Problems?Benjamin Tincq
As digital transformation and tech progress accelerates, it has never been easier to leveraging tech to solve complexe problems: from digital circular fabrication, to low-cost open source prosthetics, drone-based industrial reforestation or artificial intelligence to tackle unemployment. In this keynote, I presented a few areas where tech could help us build a better world, while suggesting some design principles to ensure long-term sustainability, mission alignment, fair value distribution.

Digital Evolutions: Startups, Platforms and EcosystemsSimone Cicero
This presentation was first released as Lecture in two Startup Accelerators lately. The presentation recaps on several digital trends and correlates them with Platform Design, previously covered in the record breaking "Future Proof Design" presentation available here: http://www.slideshare.net/Meedabyte/future-proof-design-and-the-platform-design-canvas.
In search for new ideas to frame Platform Design as a discipline in a more global discourse regarding the digital market, I went in search of complementary theories: most of this research have been consolidated in this lecture
In parallel, the Platform Design canvas is transforming into a more comprehensive Toolkit. See context here: http://wp.me/plmpp-uG

Netfilmmakers were given the opportunity to arrange a one-day workshop for students at the Hyper Island Media School in Karlskrona, Sweden. The chosen theme was Digital Emotionality and creative, collaborative use of Social Media Networks. August 26, 2009.
Trends are the natural changes in behaviours or proceedings. We like to be aware of those indicators for inspiration and guidance. At the beginning of every year we look at UX, UI trends and emerging technologies to get that guidance from.
Some of the office workers needed to understand what cloud computing is - often cloud has a lot of marketing but its hard to understand what it is in practical terms. I have also added a few slides on Softlayer and IBM passport advantage software.
Here is a presentation I used to use a few years ago to help executives get a grip on the need to have a social presence. In order to convince an executive to do something they are not comfortable in doing we need to use "Fear" = we are not keeping pace with my colleagues/competitors "Personal Gain" = I will get something out of this which will help me with the things I value e.g.. KPI metrics, external interests.
A really brief overview of a social marketing tools to use and how for the novice. It is a start guide for a seller working at an education provider. I thought I would pull something together to give the seller somewhere to start. Makes me wonder if companies would pay for these types of consulting services - thoughts?
This presentation deck looks at the future of the digital profile, how corporations are aggregating employee profiles and then a solution to control access to your digital profile.
Where will your business' prosperity and growth come from? How do you influence new customers in a low cost fashion?
How do you generate new opportunities for prosperity and growth?
Evolution of Social Software in IBM according to me. I created the presentation to show how research contributes to IBM software products and help explain the potential interactions between IBM and Academia.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

3. Collage
1. A form of art in which various
materials are arranged and
stuck to a backing.
2. A combination or collection of
various things.
4. He was one of the most exceptional

Kurt Schwitters: Art mash-ups
5. Merzbau
In 1923 Kurt Schwitters began to construct
his ultimate work of art.
It began as disparate pieces of collage and
assemblages round the studio walls, which
over time were connected by string, then
wire, then wood, and finally plastered
wood.
His quot;Merzbauquot; gradually took over the
downstairs and when it required more
space for expansion, Schwitters cut a hole
in the ceiling and gave notice to his
upstairs lodgers. Into the individual
quot;grottosquot; of the Merzbau Schwitters placed
a bizarre collection of objects gathered
from his friends and fellow artists,
anything from a stolen sock to a broken
pencil.
6. In 1961 James Tenney
created Collage #1
(quot;Blue Suedequot;) from
samples of Elvis
Presley's recording of
the song quot;Blue Suede
Shoes.

defines an application built by
combining multiple existing
functions into a new application
Composite applications often
incorporate logic to control how
the multiple functions interact
with each other
Composite Applications
10. People often compare
composite applications
to mash-ups.
According to Wikipedia,
Composite applications
Leverage enterprise-
ready sources of
information, while
mash-ups rely on
web-based, and often
free sources.
This is
changing.
11. Microformats
A microformat is a web-based
data formatting approach that
seeks to re-use existing
content as metadata.
Microformats allow people and
machines to access the same
information e.g. contact
information, geographic
coordinates, calendar events
12. A widget is a portable chunk
of code that can be installed
and executed within a web
page.
Widgets have existed since
the beginning of the Web in
the form of counters and
advertising banners.
The first widely syndicated
web widget, Trivia Blitz was
introduced in 1997
embedded on 15000
websites within one year.
Widget Creators,
Catalogues and
Aggregators
13. What is a Mash-up?
A mash-up is a web
application that
combines data from
more than one source
into a single
integrated view.
Content used in
mash-ups is typically
sourced from a third
party via a Widget or
API (web service).
14. In 2005 Paul Rademacher created HousingMaps.com, a
combination of Google Maps with real estate listings from
