Editor's Notes

  1. Academic development remains as a central strategic focus area within the residence system. This year a greater emphasis has been placed upon the further development and forgence of Faculty – Residence collaborations, programs and initiatives with the sole aim of ensuring both sustainability and efficacy. Statement of Purpose A two part purpose to the Faculty – Residence Development initiatives exists and includes: Establishing, strengthening and sustaining working partnerships between faculties and residences Infusing the residence system with faculty aligned and connected teaching and learning strategies that aim to promote throughput and retention. The residence academic development programs aim to contribute towards university students’ acquisition of the UCT graduate attributes. By offering key programs in collaboration with key university stakeholders it is envisioned that such programs help to build transferable skills, foster life-long learning, increase the uptake of academic development opportunities and promote critical and intellectual enquiry.
