The most productive part of the counseling session was when I found myself thinking about how
I left my door unlocked and windows open, which did leave to an awkward pause, however I
regained self awareness and began to discuss how the client and I will discuss his goals in a future
session. The reason I found this to be the most productive was because it pushed me to regain
control in an effective way and demonstrated that counselors makes mistakes to the client, which
could add to the authenticity aspect.
Problem Areas There are several areas of which I need to improve upon. One of the biggest areas
of improvement would include be responding opposed to reacting. For example when the client
stated, I train my dog to go to the bathroom on my neighbor s lawn and I don t have a dog. I
immediately began laughing. I should have paused, then responded with a clarifying question.
Another problem area was, the awkward pauses and loose structure. I believe I had several
awkward pauses throughout the session as a result of overthinking. I should have stated what came
to me naturally instead of worrying about saying it correctly or in a specific order.
Ethics
Ethics appeared in this session when discussing the informed consent. The reason a counselor goes
over informed consent with their client is because the categories within the form can lead to
ethical dilemmas if left unclear. In this session, I felt as though I had gone over each category in
the document. Though with that being said, I feel that next session I will elaborate in a more

The warm house spreads an aura of holiday cheer throughout the crisp, cool air. Hoards of family
members pile through the front door, with young couples stopping just below the archway for a
little peck under the mistletoe. Thousands for cars line the street and I immediately notice my
mother outside wearing her bright red Christmas sweater greeting all of my family. I wave and she
grins and waves back pointing out a spot for my uncle to park the car.
I leap out of my uncle s beat up car, officially bored out of my mind from Christmas mass. My
breath creates a hazy cloud in the dark sky. The dim luminaries along the sidewalk guide me to
the door, and I am greeted by my mother who kisses me on top of my forhead and greets my
uncle. It s a family tradition to dress as famous Christmas characters; there s something very
bizarre about seeing your cousins dressed as Dancer, Prancer, Comet, Cupid, and of course,

It s cold, lifeless body lay in front of me in a metal tray as my body hovered over it. The body was

reader of the short story. Was this the case? Author Shirley Jacksonmakes a daunting effort to give
the impression of everything in this small town being normal. She writes about some of the
children of the story. Her efforts to depict the children doing what children do best, playing,
added a simple twist to the story, and that same twist would soon shock the readers once they
realize the purpose of the stones the young boys were playing with were actually going to be used
to stone someone to death, but not just yet. One of the main characters of the story, Tessie
Hutchinson, made her way to the lottery a little bit late, flustered and out of breath. She even
admits to forgetting what day it was. However, despite all odds, she still made it on time

There has been a lot of discussion of rape within sociologists, criminologists, and feminist networks.
In my own words, rape is someone engaging with someone else sexually without their consent.
Rape is not strictly vaginal penetration, nor an exclusive heterosexual only act. If two people are in
a relationship or married, there is still no justification to the perpetrator for their act. In the 21st
century, although rapecrimes have dropped 24.1% from 2001 to 2010, but not all rapes are
reported (Eitzen, Zinn, Smith, 2010). Curtis (1997) reported that 42% of rape victims do not
tell anyone of their assaults. There may be a number of reasons why victims don t speak out.
Victims of rape typically fear their own safety and lives if they speak out on it. Men who are
victims typically don t report rapes because it s considered demasculizing to their gender. Rape
victims are traumatized for life, they live with the burden, as their perpetrators walk away free
(Curtis, 1997). NPR s Rachel Martin interviewed author, Jon Krakauer, and they discussed
Krakauer s new book on the issue of acquaintance rape. Curtis (1997) defines acquaintance rape in
the situation that the victim knows their assaulter. With the main subject being acquaintance rape,
Krakauer s book focuses on this college town, Missoula, in Montana. Krakauer tells Martin that 230

people for decades. Tightly interwoven into the American identity and dream, Westward

of building a wall actually help decrease illegal immigration, and decrease the amount of

drugs. If a whole percentage is being controlled and distributed by the government, people will not
