2. The World of Colander
Colander is a kitchen utensil with holes in it. Colander can be
found in every family. It is cheap and durable. We can see that there
is a lot of supermarket sell colander even a small store. Colander used
for draining food. The perforated nature of the colander allows the
liquid to drain through while retaining the solid insides. It also can be
called a pasta strainer or kitchen sieve. Are you interested more detail
about colander? I would like to observe the colander and have more
understanding about it and welcome to my ‘‘Colander’s World’’!
First time when I saw the colander, I felt weird about the design
of the colander. There were many holes with it. It cannot fill with water
because the water will flow down from the hole. I was confused about
the uses of the holes. I thought that it was decoration that we can put
some stone or shell inside it. Besides that, I thought the gardener will
like to use it a vase. I thought that it was a good vase for gardener
because the circulation of the water will be very good that the water
could flow through the holes. It could be also used as a hat. It will be
very funny and special that there was a thing like basket put on the
head. Anyway, colander has attracted me so much to have a better
and more understanding on it.
Next, I found that colander has many shape. Mostly, it is a
bowl-shaped but some colanders have the shape of rectangular, square,
cup that was beautiful. The colander also got different colours such as
green, red, white, grey that had attracted my eyeball so much. Besides
that, I also found that colander has divided into three sizes that was
small size, medium size and large size. Although the colander has
many differences but there was some similarities there was the
colander must have holes with it and the uses of all colander was to
drain the food.
Besides that, I also found that the colander was very light even
though it was a metal. It was because the colander was made of light
metal such as aluminium or thinly aluminium rolled stainless steel. So,

3. it was convenient that old people and kids could hold it easily. It also
will not cause any injuries to the people easily. Some colanders also
made of plastic, silicone, ceramic and enamelware that the colanders
will not rust easily.
Now, I am going to explore my senses about the metal colander.
When I touched the metal colander, the surface was very smooth and
the surface for the plastic colander was rough. For me, it was
uncomfortable when I touched the plastic colander. Both metal and
plastic colander dont have any odor. When I knocked the surface of
the metal colander, it have the sound like ‘ding’ sound. The plastic
colander just have the small sound like ‘dou’ sound.
This is my all understanding about the colander. I think that the
colander is a very good thing for every family. Before I started to
observe the colander, I have write down my reaction and thinking
about the colander. After that, I have observed the shape and size of
the colander and the next stage was observed the material that have
made the colander. My last observation was I have felt the surface of
the colander and the sound that produced by the colander. When I
finished these few stages, I felt that I was like a scientist to observe it
more deeper and deeper. It was amazing and I could not remove my
attention from the colander.
