What is Independent Clause?
 They have a subject and a verb and express a complete thought.
 Independen clauses = subject + verb
 Independen clauses = complete sentence
 Can a dependent clause stand alone?
answer: no
 Can a independent clause stand alone?
answer: yes
Compund sentence= two or more Independent clauses
