Destitution refers to a situation where people are unable to afford basic needs like food, clothing, shelter, education and healthcare. The presentation provides statistics on destitution in Indonesia from 1976 to 2013. It shows that while destitution has decreased overall, about 28 million Indonesians still lived in destitute conditions in 2013. The conclusion argues that the high levels of destitution in Indonesia must be reduced to prevent problems for the country's future development.
