- Constituents (Alumnus,Students,Staff,Parents) need to be created/updated/inactivated in
Salesforce (Account,Contact,User) from Data Store (SQL) (username, emails, roles)
- Staff leaves, students graduate and become alums, legal name changes (HR system), ...
- Constituents Profile Data (Contact) needs to be maintained through Millennium (SQL)
- Data gets updated in Millennium and Salesforce directly
- Updated data needs to go back and forth to Millennium and Salesforce
- Campus Calendar Events. One way feed from Active Data. RSS does not deliver all the
needed information. Direct SQL was needed

order to get all of the categorization information)

- Picked Informatica for Constituents (initially Consultant, then Inhouse Developer)
- Leave time for RFP, license talks, decision, purchase, training, learning curve

- Picked WSDL/Java for News and Events (2nd Inhouse Developer with Java experience)
- When a new Object/Field is added and needed in the feed, newly generated WSDL,
Java classes creation is needed
- Need special coding for Governor limits
- Need to handle attachments, object creation vs. updating and error handling
- Once “infrastructure” is created, adding a new News or Events source is quick
- Wanted to understand which system would work best
- Eventually, may move everything to Informatica (time and resources needed)

Babson Connector Integrations - Under the Hood ​Understanding the Integrations - Constituents (Alumnus,Students,Staff,Parents) need to be created/updated/inactivated in Salesforce (Account,Contact,User) from Data Store (SQL) (username, emails, roles) - Staff leaves, students graduate and become alums, legal name changes (HR system), ... - Constituents Profile Data (Contact) needs to be maintained through Millennium (SQL) - Data gets updated in Millennium and Salesforce directly - Updated data needs to go back and forth to Millennium and Salesforce - Campus Calendar Events. One way feed from Active Data. RSS does not deliver all the needed information. Direct SQL was needed

Babson Connector Integrations - Under the Hood ​Picking Technologies for the Integrations (+ Lessons Learned) - APEX, WSDL/Java, Informatica, Jitterbit, … - Picked Informatica for Constituents (initially Consultant, then Inhouse Developer) - Leave time for RFP, license talks, decision, purchase, training, learning curve

Babson Connector Integrations - Under the Hood ​Picking Technologies for the Integrations (+ Lessons Learned) - Picked WSDL/Java for News and Events (2nd Inhouse Developer with Java experience) - When a new Object/Field is added and needed in the feed, newly generated WSDL, Java classes creation is needed - Need special coding for Governor limits - Need to handle attachments, object creation vs. updating and error handling - Once “infrastructure” is created, adding a new News or Events source is quick - Wanted to understand which system would work best - Eventually, may move everything to Informatica (time and resources needed)

Who will do the work? - Consultant? - How can you evaluate the consultant if you don’t know the technology? - Can you get this consultant for 3 hours worth of changes 6 months from now? - Internal - How may will be trained? - Leave time for learning curve - If second developer does not use the tool for 6 months, knowledge will be lost
