Electronics for Kids...Good or Bad?

1. ChampChild.com recently asked a question for 10-12 year olds:
“Are electronics good or bad?”
Well, I’m here to tell you that there is no good or bad. I
currently have an iPad and I use it for many things. I use it for
educational purposes (KhanAcademy, DuoLingo, Math games,
etc.) and I also use it for fun (Netflix, playing games, texting
friends, etc.). Many parents say that electronics are “rotting our
brains” or “wasting our time”, but the thing is, this is the 21st
century, people!
We are going to be growing up with electronics. When our
parents were our age, they barely had cell phones, and now
we’re able to literally talk to someone across the world instantly
just by pressing the “call” button. If you pay attention, your
parents are having just as much screen-time as you are. Be it
contacting people, watching the news, or even checking their
Facebook feed, adults use electronics too. It’s just the world
we’re living in now. Of course, as my mom always says, keep
everything in moderation. Too much electronics can hurt your
brain. You might even start to feel dizzy or lightheaded if you
stare at a screen for too long.
For me, I being on my iPad is just like eating candy. I can’t
eat too much because it will make me sick, but if I just eat a
little it’s actually really tasty. The thing is, there are different
types of electronics so you have to know what amount of time is
right on each. If you’re watching a movie with your family, you
probably shouldn’t watch television right after the movie

2. because that would be too much electronics, but let’s say you
need to type something up for school. Now, that’s a different
story because typing makes you think and helps you learn. Most
parents/teachers would be thrilled if you used your time to type.
I guess the point I’m trying to get across is that the question
“Are electronics good or bad?” is a pretty unnecessary question
because electronics can be good, but they can also be bad. It just
depends on how you look at it.
