Peter Van Pel s Death Of Mauthausen Concentration Camp
Peter was only 18 when his death came. Peter died when his work group was traveling through
winter and the cold finally got to him, as they arrived at the final area. He died at a camp, called
Mauthausen Concentration Camp. Peter died away from Anne and he never went into another
relation. He died not married and not in a relationship. Peter died of natural causes per say. But
in a different point of view he was murdered because the camp leader made him travel that far.
Along with putting him into a point where he died from traveling. Pete Van Pels was put on a
death march; that is when they make you march to a certain area and then shot you or let you die
on your own. They did not shot him but they did stay outside in the freezing cold

Should Music Be Censored Essay
Music is the science or art of ordering tones or sounds in succession, in combination, and in
temporal relationships to produce a composition having unity.Music provides a powerful form of
expression that at its most basic level helps to entertain while containing the power to cause
revolutions. It is a way for people to express themselves through beats, lyrics, pitches and ranges.
Imagine owning a musicstore, and a new album about police brutality is brought to your store for
you to sell. An undercover cop came in and bought the album, and told you that if you didn t take
the albums off the shelves you would be arrested and your store would be shut down. There are
debates today on whether the government should censor the music that we listen to.Some believe
it has a negative effect on the listeners and cause them to become the lyrics. Since music is a form
of expression, censoring the music would be a violation of our rights. While many believe
censorshipto be a necessity in certain contexts, the idea of censorship is at fault in its attempt to
control and stop the advance knowledge of the world today. There is fear of... Show more content on

Artist are protected through the first amendment to express their feelings through the art of music.
They use their songs to get an issue out to the world, to tell about something personal, for
entertainment, to relate to the world, or to make a statement. Censoring the music is
discrimination against the emotion the artist felt in their song. It s like taking the first
amendment away from the artist and listeners. The government can t limit expression just
because of any listener, or a community is offended by the content and characters of the song.
We have a choice of what we listen to. We aren t forced to listen to anything. If you feel a certain

Negative Impact Of Technology
The Negative Impacts of Technology Technology is always continually advancing. The impact
that technology has had on individuals and on society is negative. This negative impact is
driven by technology s ability to worsen social interaction and provide a source of constant
distraction. Technology worsens social interactions by taking away real communication and
relationship boundaries. With the rise in popularity of phones and social media, people are
having less real communication. In Glennon Doyle Melton s essay, 6 Reasons Social Media is
Dangerous for Me, she writes, The students were hanging around in awkward circles, trying to
get noticed or trying not to get noticed, just like we did in high school. But we noticed with
sadness one major difference. EVERY KID WE SAW WAS on her phone (3). Everyone is
paying more attention and occupied with their gadgets instead of to actual people such as their
family and friends. Technology is used by people as an avoidance strategy. People may be
comfortable chatting online, but not face to face. When chatting online, people are unable to
express themselves using body language, tone, or voice. It is clear that children will not know
how to read basic social cues or engage in small talk as a result of technology. This causes them
to not be able to gain crucial social skills needed for graceful social interactions. Technology also
creates a lack of relationship boundaries in today s youth. With the accessibility of

Essay on The Speckled Band and The Man with the Twisted Lip
Examine the settings which Arthur Conan Doyle has chosen for his stories in The Speckled
Band and The Man with the Twisted Lip. Consider the effects the writer has created and how they
contribute to the atmosphere. Arthur Conan Doyle s character, Sherlock Holmes, lived in
Victorian London during the 19th century. His perception of the streets is portrayed as a dark and
isolated environment. The atmosphere was far from welcoming. The streets were overrun with
crime, beggars and prostitutes. Through the dense smog, the gas lamps provided feeble lighting
which flickered as passer bys walked on their way. The odour which drifted through the air was
vile. This was the result of no sewage system and low levels of hygiene. In... Show more content on

A.C. Doyle reinforces its undesirable presence by describing it as vile . The reader will instantly
see that it is a dirty, eerie place where no one would want to be. It is also personified as lurking
which gives it a sense of hidden mystery. Holmes and Watson s journey is prolonged and
tiresome as they travel through: the endless succession of sombre and deserted streets This
description is effective because it makes the reader think of the continuous series of streets
which have no definite end and lead to nowhere. The adjective sombre makes the reader think of
a dull, dismal space containing emptiness. Everything Watson and Holmes pass along their way
appears to be gloomy and depressing: another dull wilderness of bricks , ...a dull wrack. , star
twinkled dimly Stars are expected to be bright, however here it is described in a contrasting
manner. Although it is twinkling, it is still dim. The reader may imagine that these streets are so
dismal not even the brightest star could appear as it is. As the reader is taken to the setting of
the opium den, it feels as if they have been lead to an even more discomforting place. The steps
lead: down to a black gap It is like being transported to a cold and sinister place. The reader is given
the feeling of being taken down to hell. They are unaware of what lies beneath,

Cross Country Camp Narrative
Cross country season my sophomore year is one I will never forget! It all started back in August
2013 at cross country camp. It was my first year attending camp because unfortunately we could
not have it my freshman year. Coach Martin had a late start to practice because of a few issues
with the construction of the turf. Luckily, Martin still coached us and still coaches us to this
very day! As camp began we became pretty close as a team. This was the first time Coach had
seen his team have a strong bond of friendship. Even though camp was really fun, it sure was a
tough week! The week consisted of running twice a day and eating lots and lots of food. By the end
of the week, your legs felt like bricks. The first two months of the season had flown by and it was
already October. It was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We were fighting the pain to make it to the last two races of the season, Regionals and States.
Regionals was a very emotional race for us. The previous year we were defeated by Parkersburg
and was unable to attend states. We had ruined the streak for the girls varsity of PHS to make it
to states. We were devastated. This race was different than the others. This race determined who
ran in states. We knew we had to give it our all. At the start line, Coach wrote a 1 on our leg to
keep in mind the one year we didn t make it to states. We knew that staying home this year was
not an option. We raced hard with everything we had. As everyone finished we had this feeling
of defeat. We cried and just put ourselves down. We were not confident in our performances.
Coach Martin and P. Sines knew it was a close race. However they had more information than we
did. They knew the results. They watched us cry as a team and continue to believe we didn t
make top three. This was the moment I will never forget. Coming in third place is.....PRESTON

Cloud Computing Changed The Way Of Computing And Data And...
Abstract Cloud Computing changed the way of computing and data and storage concept
nowadays. In Cloud computing we use different type of security concepts to work with it. In
present we are working with the encryption mechanism to secure the data. Encryption mechanism
is failing and not capable to secure the cloud data as well as internal data theft attacks. For these
problems we are proposing different approach to secure the cloud FOG COMPUTING. In this
technology we will use decoy information technology to work with and we will monitor the
behavior of the user to intercept the user s behavior inside the cloud even though he/she is
registered user on the cloud.

Cloud has become essential part of our life. We are almost reliable on cloud for data storage, Due
to this reliability There are many threats for cloud and the researches which are going on is
basically concentrated on the encryption .Encryption is insufficient to prevent the cloud for the
data theft attack. Main problem on cloud in insider data theft and the encryption is no capable to
prevent the cloud. For this reason we are proposing whole new approach which is decoy

Essay On Social Identity
Social media is often praised for its ability to connect people worldwide, but in reality, it is
forcing us further apart; we are no longer individuals but are instead creating for ourselves a fake
social identity. Nicholas Carr, author of Is Google Making Us Stupid? focuses on how reading on
the Internethas made it almost impossible for us to do deep reading. In Just Between You, Me, and
My 622 BFF S, Peggy Orenstein looks at how social media has stolen younger girl s identities, and
formed their sexual identity. Chuck Klosterman in his article Electric Funeral sees the Internet as a
breeding ground for villains who feed off our primitive impulses to draw attention and fame to
ourselves. These three authors have powerful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Google was first created, its goal was to organize the world s information and make it
universally accessible and useful ( How We Started and Where We Are Today ). There is
certainly nothing sinister in the mission statement, and undeniably Google has proved to be an
essential and convenient part of life. However, convenience is the dominant issue at play here.
Research no longer need hours to uncover; in as few as five minutes, one can have an answer,
source, or image ready to absorb and spit out in whatever paper or conversation they might have.
This is the type of fast pace environment that is negatively affecting us; we are conditioned to find
our answers quickly. How many of us have actually gone to page 2 in an Internet search? If our
answer is not given in the first few links, we rephrase the question in order to get the answer we
need. We train ourselves to work fast and efficiently, and while that might be helpful at the
moment, overall it is hindering our ability to think deeply about issues. This inability to think not
only affects our research, but our day to day lives; we have trained ourselves to glance at an
image or post, and immediately draw assumptions from it. Social media is designed to be simple
and usable to all age groups, which forces us to simplify our posts,

The Effects Of European Integration On The Regional...
We can have a long list of regions within EU that are seeking for independence: Scotland, the
Basque Country, Catalonia, Flanders, Venetian, Bavarian, Corsica and more is coming. Although
each case has its distinct story, they have some common reasons for separatism, for example, due to
long term history tension, culture difference, different national identity perceived by people,
minority groups under representative and economic inequality. Besides, benefits such as regional
sovereign are both motivations and reasons for regions to secede. Many scholars also argue that the
integration of Europe is another spur of the independence movements. However, I will argue that
the effect of European integration on the regional independence is... Show more content on

Its prosperous development of economy also draws labours from the rest of the state. However,
Catalans do not have the control of their own wealth. Every year Catalonia is taxed for about
€20 billion, about 10% of Catalonia s GDP, by the Spanish government and never return back
as social investments (Srmava, 2014). The Spanish government use that money to subsidise other
poorer regions. Staying in Spain now become a brake to the development of Catalonia s
economics. The hypothesis for partition of Belgium is based on the similar story. The state is
divided by language and history and economics inequality into Flanders and Wallonia. The case
for Scotland is a bit different as people use the same language and share the culture. The two major
arguments are the oil and currency. North Sea oil and gas reserves can help Scotland to become one
of the richest countries in the world after independence. Moreover, Scotland led by Salmond wants
to join the common currency union, while the London based government does not. The former said
this is for the good of everyone , because of removal obstacles for transaction within EU and
increasing the competitiveness. The Cameron government argued back that joining a currency
union would reduce the autonomy of economics, and the recent financial crisis showed the fragility
of the euro system at the moment. Although language and culture differences provide good reasons
for separatism literally, in

Deception in Macbeth by Shakespeare Essay
Deception is defined as the act of tricking someone by telling them something that is not true . In
the play, Macbeth by William Shakespeare, deception is always present and things are not always
what they appear to be. In this great work of literature, the three witches; the Thane of Cawdor; and
Macbeth and Lady Macbethare the very embodiments of trickery and show us the true effects
deception can have on man. From the first scene of the play, the reader immediately gets a
glimpse of the deception meshed into Macbeth s world. The quote Fair is foul and foul is fair is a
commonly used by the three witches, spoken in their equivocal language. This same language of
vagueness is used when the witches encounter Macbeth and Banquo on the... Show more content on

The depiction of timeless issues such as these is what makes the storyline of the play
compelling to me. Also, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are both strong conveyors of deceit. From
the onset on the play, Macbeth is characterized as strong and loyal to his king and country.
However, once the witches prophecy is planted in his head, his thirst for King is so intense that
it cannot be quenched and slowly his admirable traits are erased. When Macbeth is preparing for
the King s arrival at his house, he starts to question his murderous thoughts. He states that the
King will be here in double trust , for Macbeth will be his hostess and will also be acting as a
subject of the state. How can he possibly do such a grim task? The answer is Lady Macbeth. She
lusts after becoming Queen and living a life of fantasy and does everything in her power to
persuade her husband to kill the King. She questions his courage, she feeds his ego and she
emasculates poor Macbeth all in an effort to get what she wants disguised as what is best for him.
When he agrees, she tells him to look like th innocent flower, but be the serpent under t in order to
commit this regicide. Lady Macbeth, such a beautiful woman, is actually a cunning, strategic and
determined lady so determined that she s willing to risk everything and make her husband lie to the
king and betray him. It s funny how things are not always what they appear to be. In conclusion, the

Essay on Ragtime and Blues Influence on Jazz

October 14, 2011
Seeing Ragtime and Blues as Parents of Jazz Jazz is a music genre that has complex
characteristics and history of development and thus many musicians and scholars face troubles in
defining what jazz is. In general, jazz is believed to have born in New Orleans. Jazz developed for
the pleasure of the social dancers. According to the Understanding Jazz: What Is Jazz? of John F.
Kennedy center for the Performing Arts, Jazz was created mainly by Afro Americans, and had
elements of European and Afro American culture. Also, it emphasizes few elements of Jazz, which
are swing feel, syncopation, and improvisation. These different culture and elements of jazz may be

Thus the similarity between ragtime and blues is significant but there are numerous differences
between the two music styles. First, their origin was different. Even though they both had African
influence as mentioned, ragtime was more strongly influenced by European music style, and blues
was heavily African music style. According to Durk Sutro in his book Jazz for Dummies, Ragtime
was European influenced, in the sense that it was composed, not improvised, and featured carefully
crafted melodies and harmonies...ragtime could sound concisely European (ch.5). Although
European influenced, there is some African influence such as rhythm and African banjo music as
mentioned during the lecture. Ragtime rhythm was the rhythms of the black dancers who used
their heels to make drum sounds, or to that of the black church singers who could vary the rhythms
of a Christian hymn so much that a white Christian could not even recognize it (Tirro, pp.37).
On the other hand, Blues were basically from work songs of African Americans slaves at the time.
It is a native American music, the product of the black man in this country, or, to put it more
exactly the way I have come to think about it, blues could not exist if the African captives had not
become American captives (pp.17), said Jones and Baraka. In Jazz A History, Frank Tirro wisely
analyzes and explains the relationship between the unique background and

At seven o clock on a September morning Chen was preparing to go home from Mr. Choy s
factory. He worked there as a night shift guardian. Chen was waiting for his fellow to leave the
job to him when suddenly he heard heavy footsteps of a young man. He chased the sound to the

It was a kind of dangerous carnivorous flowers. Mr. Choy always gave him a fly or a worm four
times a month. No one ever dare to even stay near it. But the flower seemed calm when the man
touched it. The man snatched the key from under the flowerpot and opened the office door. He

A Book Came From Jellicoe Road By Melina Marchetta
My selectiveness when I have to choose something to read came from Jellicoe Road, a novel
written by Melina Marchetta. The elements in the work played upon my emotions, causing them
to overflow and my world to expand. Beforehand, I would just look for a book to read and hope
to enjoy it. After reading Jellicoe Road, I now search for books with which I can make a personal
connection. In my emotions and my mind, I experience the events in the characters journeys. I use
those literary connections to escape my reality. The overwhelming emotions that come from
reading literature are crucial to finding the right novel. It has to make me cry, laugh, or form an
attachment to the character. I have to become both mentally and emotionally invested in the
book because that causes me to continue reading. Jellicoe Road is one of the books that feed my

My Personal Philosophy Of Innovation
Nursing Innovation and Leadership: A Personal Philosophy To embrace the person that you are, in
a time and place where everyone seems to be telling you that you should be everything but the
person that you are, is a daunting but worthwhile challenge. I believe that it is in the acceptance of
our true selves, imperfections and all, that we gain the ability to view others through a lens colored
with compassion and acceptance. It is then that we can become a leader who is self aware and
emotionally competent.
Personal Philosophy of Innovation My personal philosophy of innovation encompasses many ideas.
It is not only thinking outside of the box, but questioning why the box is even necessary. It is about
creating opportunity out of disappointment, being open to different, and unafraid of being
vulnerable. It is about breathing, living, and embodying the change that you want to see in the
world and exploring new paths in achieving that change. Innovation is being courageously defiant
in the face of the universe shouting You can t and replying with a resounding Watch me .
Personal Definition of Innovation I believe that innovation is the process of examining a new and
different method that cause one internally and/or spiritually look at something as you have never
seen it before, and the creation of a new meaning to the way that we relate to and interact with
people, the environment, health, and nursing.

Human Brain Development
Children begin learning before they are even born. Some people may wonder how this is possible
if the child hasn t even taken its first breath yet, but it is true. Brain development begins in week
four of their first trimester in the womb. This is important because the development helps a child
learn and grow, effecting their future learning, education, and social skills. Braindevelopment begins
right in the womb and continues to flourish after birth. A child s brain develops through neurons
and their connections by synapses. Neurons communicate at synapses through the use of

When a baby is born, he or she will actually cry in their language, by either ending their cry on a
high or low note corresponding to the ending tones or words of the language. French babies will
end their cries on a high note as German babies will end their cries on a low note. After the time
in the womb, the second period of life begins. This is considered to be after birth. This is another
point in which brain development is influenced in a child. After birth there are five periods; the
neonatal, infancy, toddlerhood, preschool, and adolescent periods. Each period is important in
the brain development of a child, but the neonatal period is most crucial. The neonatal period is
the first 28 days of life for a baby. This is most important because it sets the tone for the child s
development. Think of it this way, the neonatal period is like the beginning of a book. The
opening paragraph or chapter sets the tone for the rest of the book. With this, come the influences
that effect brain development for the rest of the child s life. These influences are effects of the
environment, nurture or neglect, and early childhood programs. The environment that the child is
in, influences their brain development. One aspect of environment includes the wealth of the
family. If a child is born into a wealthy environment, then he or she will be provided with the
appropriate needs such as clothes, food, diapers, and daycares. If the child is not in a

My School Day Speech
Every day starts the same way. My alarm screeches at me to restart my cycle by getting up. The
T.V from the first floor, always on channel 12, blasts the news about what is happening around
us. Ignoring it as always, I sprint down the stairs into the kitchen to inhale the savory smell. My
mother, who is always on top of things, is preparing my breakfast. Making sure that I can never
have a peaceful breakfast, she ensures that I receive my daily speech. Do not talk to strangers,
Rachel. Do not reveal where my family is from, Rachel. Do not do anything where the police can
be involved, Rachel. Truly, after the hundreds and hundreds of times she has recited this speech, I
suddenly lose the meaning of those statements, but I brush it off and continue my daily round.
To continue my endless sequence, there is school, with teachers teaching the same topics every
year, with textbooks that seem like they were from the 1800 s. It s never something new, nothing
relevant. I always do what I am told, whether it is to answer a question or to explain why I chose
that answer or to always do my homework. I find it easier just to accept whatever is given to you
and not fight against it. Less conflict for myself and other people.
To conclude my school day, I typically take my bus home. Unfortunately, after a jammed locker
incident one day, I missed it.
Oh, so you re still at school? Well, you can call a taxi. Just be careful said my mother worriedly
through the phone. Hurry home. I can never understand why she is always on her toes for the
smallest things. It s a simple taxi ride, what can go wrong?
As I was waiting by the steps of the school, a sleek black car rolled up right in front of the
building. I guess that s the taxi, I thought to myself. Quickly, I walked to the car, opened the
passenger door, and sat inside.
Hello, Rachel, right? You were the one that ordered the taxi? The taxi driverdid not seem to move
when he asked, almost like a robot. I hesitantly confirmed with a subtle yes then he drove away
from the school.
Daydreaming while looking through the window, I did not realize that the taxi driver was not
taking the usual route to my house. I firmly grasped my phone and my things in case of any

Animals Are Endangered From The Wild Animals
Birds are beautiful in the wild, and they re incredibly cute, but they are not good pets because
they require so much care. Parrots taken from the wild aren t meant to be kept in cages. Birds that
are born to caged birds are still only one or two generations from being tamed. They re not
domesticated pets. The practices that are used to catch birds and bring them to your home are
abusive and cruel too.
Responsibility for a Parrot
Parrots are a huge responsibility. They require even more care than other pets like cats and dogs.
They are more complex creatures than dogs or cats too. Scientists have explained that parrots have
the emotional maturity of 4 year old human children. They feel emotions and have emotional
demands that people don t often understand. Since we humans don t understand their emotional
needs, we re not able to meet them, which makes for parrots with emotional problems.
Shipping and Treatment
The wild bird trade is worth billions of dollars, and the people who poach birds from the wild don
t do so humanely. Many birds are traumatized or killed during the process. They re ripped from
their homes, mates and flock with little regard for their emotional well being. Birds fly together,
share their homes and raise their young together. When one bird is taken, the life of that bird
changes as well as the entire flock that had been living together.
Lack of Space They Need
Birds that are already caged can t be released into the wild, but they are not

Courtship Rituals
In my opinion courtship rituals have drastically changed over time but have also still held onto
some aspects of romance, dating, and traditions that couples set early on. Courtship rituals are the
traditions during a certain period of time where two people get to know each other before striving to
marry their significant other. Courtshiprituals can vary depending on the culture and the people
using it. Many have mixed opinions on the topic. Nowadays, relationships can be tricky and are
nothing like the movies. Datingpractices differ now from the late 1900 s and early 2000 s. For this
essay I have decided to interview my younger cousin, who is fourteen years old. Through the
interview process she gave me the insight of younger teens and preteens dating. Communication,
social presence, and technology have changed the ways relationships are viewed and acted upon.
Dating had almost completely replaced the old system of calling by the mid 1920s and, in so doing,
had transformed American courtship. An excerpt from Beth L. Bailey s book, From Front Porch to

The Impact of Contemporary Urban Planning Principles and...
Since the 1950s, the cities of Saudi Arabia witnessed significant changes in the composition of the
population and the arrangement of the built environment. The Saudi society has transformed from a
nomadic pastoral society to a highly modernized one as a result of the increase in national revenues
from oil production. Rapid growth and improved economic conditions led to the adoption of
modern planning principles which are in contrary to the traditional city. Although modernization
had contributed to raising the living standard of the neighbourhood, it led to the creation of social,
cultural and climate problems as well. This essay will shed light on the impact of the contemporary

lived a state of poverty, starvation, lack of resources and the most important of all, lack of security.
The region began a new phase after the unification of the Kingdom and the spread of security. Walls

Art Observation
The first art work I observed was called Black Is the Color by Paul Stephen Benjamin. The
artwork is located in the Stent Family Wing of the High Museum, it was produced in 2014 and
is from the modern time period. The structure is made of old televisions of all shapes and sizes
are unevenly stacked on top of each other much unorganized. The televisions come about five feet
off the ground, and there are wild cords wrapped around the floor and also some of the televisions.
The space where the televisions are located is very dark, the only light in the area comes from the
televisions themselves. On the screen of the television is an African American women singinginto a
microphone, playing the pianoas well. In some televisions the picture is cropped and you can only
see her face and the piano can t be seen to the viewer. In other televisions the color of the actual
picture is different from others.
Besides the glaring lights there are also actual voices coming from the television. Not only do you
see someone singing on the television screen, there are physical voices. The women is singing a
melody which sounds off key, but it actually is not. Each television is playing the same voice just at
different times and pitches. According ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Taking a Look at Learning Organization
Why the Learning organization now? In view of the increasing global competition, an in increased
in customer sophistication and the lowering of the potential to maintain competitive advantage
through technology or economics, and the need for organization to survive in a changing global
environment, organizations are now conscious that the only source of competitive advantage is the
ability of such organizations to learn faster and smarter than their competitors. The concept of
learningorganisation fits in the context and is more apt to bring the desired change. An organization
facing uncertain, changing or ambiguous market conditions need to be able to adopt learning
concepts. They must continuously learn to survive and adapt in this dynamic and competing
environment in which they are operating. Organizations adopting this concept will be able to adapt
to the rapid and continuous change. Consequently marked improvements on the competitive
performance of the organization will be visible.
What is a learning organisation
The concept of learning organization emerged in the late 80 s proposed by Boydell, Pedler and
Burgoyne (1989). However, it was only in the 1990s that learning organization became a common
concept in organization theory. The learning organization concept attained broad popularity when
Senge published his bestselling The Fifth Discipline: the art and practice of learning organization, in
1990.
The learning organisation is considered as an organisation

In-Vitro Fertilization Is Ethical Essay
The use of preimplantation genetic diagnosis, used during in vitro fertilization, for medical
screening and sex pre selection is ethical so as long as it is done for the child s best interest and
not for superficial desires of the parents. Every year, around 3,945,875 babies are born in the
United States (NIH, 2017). Unfortunately, 12.1% of women ages 15 44 and 8% of men ages 25 to

To others, there are a plethora of issues in IVF that constitute it as being unethical. Opponents
consider it unethical to play God and create life in an unnatural manner. They believe couples
should conceive on their own without the help of a medical procedure involving embryos. This
is due to their opposition to the destruction of embryos during or after the procedure. For
example, embryos are frozen in large groups and are disposed of if not used or remain frozen for
numerous years (Bliss, 2012). Others believe that people should simply adopt a child instead of
going through the expensive and risky procedure of IVF. However, these arguments are only the
tip of the iceberg of IVF being that there are several topics to be discussed. One of the most
interesting topics within IVF is that of designer babies . Although predominantly permissible by
law, the ethics of designer babies encompasses whether or not it is moral to use PGD for preventive

How Media Organizations Produce Audiences And Markets
This segment will review variety of literature exploring on how and why media organizations
produce audiences and markets. The different types of audience theories there are will explore this,
and how the audience reacts within these theories. There are many various audience theories out
there, however six will be explored.
The word audience is so much part of our everyday talk that its complexity is often taken for
granted. (Ross Nightingale 2003)
Today, media is surrounding us, whether it is television, films, magazines, games, radio, music, the
news, and even billboards and posters, and we don t even acknowledge it, unless it hits us in the
face. Along with this media, comes different audience, and different reactions. The... Show more

Hall also suggested that the way an audience reacts, is dependant on their cultural backgrounds and
how they were brought up, for example, if the mass media s intended message is fruit is great, it
all depends if an individual has been brought up to dislike fruit, etc. the audience is also given more
credit, and it s understood that they mat react in different ways.
Reception theory is the social interaction aspect, and the Two Step Flow theory is also similar.
Formulated first in the The People s Choice, the hypothesis suggests that ideas often flow from
radio and print to the opinion leaders and from them to the less active sections of the population.
(Lazarfield and Katz, 1970)
Paul Felix Lazerfiled originally came up with this theory, and then later, Elihu Katz began
working with him. The two of them looked at during the presidential elections, how the votes
make up the audience s minds and wrote a book exploring the different factors of it. They
speculated how the mass media connects with people, however this communication is routed
through opinion leaders. These people are very media literate and they link their understanding
to others. The mass media uses comedians as the opinion leaders, as they take real life news, and
analyse it in a comical way, and the mass media probably entrust the comedians more, as they
come across less bias and less of an agender, and the public find the news sometimes so bias, it was
almost comical. Two Step Flow theory is

Military Recruitment In High Schools
As I m sure you know, military recruitment in high schools has been a hot topic ever since the No

as is provided generally to post secondary educational institutions or to prospective employers of
those students (No Child Left Behind Act of 2001). And unfortunately, any schoolthat refuses this

Some people such as yourself, who do not support military recruiting in high schools, worry that
military recruiters prey on the poor students and persuade them to join by offering things such as
signing bonuses and the promise of free college. Admittedly those things might be offered,
although not specifically for those of a lower income household, but for all recruits, and they are
not intended to be used to trap those students into the Military service. In a study done by the
Center for Naval Analyses under the Department of Defense it was found that when the nation is

three middle income brackets while the poorest (under $36,74 a year) and the wealthiest (over
$76,981 a year) brackets are under represented (CNA 2014). I understand your concerns on this

The Evolution Of Quality Management
I always enjoy reading about the history of something because it tends to show you the evolution of
it. In this case, the evolution of Quality is there. In the definition of quality in Chapter 2,
Feigenbaum and Crosby both state what they think is the contributing part of quality. Feigenbaum
believes that meeting the customers expectations is the key, while Crosby feels that if you put an
impeccable product out, then that s quality. However, Goetsch and Davis define a hybrid version
of Feigenbaum and Crosby s thoughts on Quality, which incorporate the constant change that is the
customer. The customer is the driving force that makes business produce goods and services. Each
era in the history of quality has its place. Lessons learned along the way have shaped where we are
today Quality Management. In the craftsmanship era, businesses had relationships with their small
town customers who produced small scale personable products or services that could be shared
word of mouth. In order to take quality business into the future there had to be major changes if
companies were going to be able to produce quality on the global scale. Quality managers tried
everything from getting the employees to believe in their work, receive awards, and incentives to
do more with less. The history of Quality Management has driven goods and services to be great,
and change with the customers expectations which continue changing.
Chapter 3: Quality management encompasses a combination of

Nuclear Power And Nuclear Energy
On September 26th, Doctor Robert McTaggart came in and spoke to us about nuclear energy.
Nuclear energy uses the heat produced from nuclear transformations and reactions to power
turbines which create energy. A majority of the time, nuclear plants run off the fission of one of
three elements: Uranium 235, Uranium 233, or Plutonium 239. Something else that Dr. McTaggart
said that really stuck with me was that fissile isotopes like U 235 give off more energy than is put
into the system. Currently in the US, nuclear powermakes up 8.3% of our country s total energy
and all of the energy produced goes towards the electric power sector, where it makes up 22% of
the total amount of electric power.
Some advantages to the use of nuclear energy are that it has a carbon footprint of zero, it creates
constant energy, and it has a low operating cost. With no incidents, nuclear power is very
environmentally friendly, with no emissions and lots of power capacity. It is also very efficient
because most of the time, the energy that is harvested out of nuclear fission is greater than the
energy put in. The same thing cannot be said for any other resource, renewable or not. Once they
are built, nuclear plants have a very low operating cost, making them economical after they are built.
Some disadvantages to nuclear power are waste issues, high cost of building a power plant, and
terrible ramifications is safety precautions are not met. The waste issues associated with nuclear
energy are not

Analysis Of William Shakespeare s Sonnet 1
Unit 4 Journal C.S. Lewis, Sonnet 1 (from Five Sonnets), pages 476 477 Shadow and Light This
sonnet brings to mind the feelings one has when faced with fear or loss. Lewis puts it
beautifully that we all grieve in different manners, but that our pain is the same. I feel that he
makes a call for people to be more understanding of others. That just because someone does not
show the same emotion as you, does not mean they do not feel. It means they feel in a different
manner. Lewis also says, we do not shout and shake our fists at God (p 476), to me this shows a
deeper understanding of life. We all can find someone or something to blame for problems or
injustices in life, but until we learn to put the blame where it lies we are doomed to feelings of
pain and loss. Samuel Johnson, excerpt from Prayers and Meditations, pages 25 27 Shadow and
Light This selection is a bittersweet plea from Johnson to God. His wife, 20 years his senior, has
passed and he is obviously stricken with grief. Johnson states, Oh Lord, release me from my
sorrow, fill me with just jopes, true faith, and holy consolations, and enable me to do my duty in
that state of life to which Thou hast been pleased to call me, without disturbance from fruitless
grief, or tumultuous imaginations; . This speaks to his sorrow over the loss of his wife and his
determination to continue on as is God s plan for him. Johnson clearly was very much in love with
his wife and even later states that he wishes to

The Interpretive Approach For Communication
The Interpretive Approach to Communication In communication, there are three different
approaches: social science, interpretive, and critical. All three approaches differ greatly in their
paradigms, or belief systems, on how the study of communication should be approached. Of the
three approaches, the Interpretive Approach is the one that suits me the best. Why you might ask?
Simply put, it just makes sense. The interpretive Approach, also referred to as the Humanistic
Approach, is looking at communication through a system of thoughts that celebrate human nature
and it s potential. Simply put, this approach looks specifically at human nature as it pertains to a
specific person, or specific group, as a whole rather than the general consensus. As with the other
methods, the Interpretive Approach has it s own assumptions, theories and methods, ethical issues,
and strengths and limitations. When studying communication, there are certain assumptions to be
made. These assumptions vary depending on the paradigm that the researcher is following. In the
Interpretive Approach, the major assumption is that humans construct their own reality, and
researchers must tap into and understand that reality. This could not be truer, as everyone has their
own perception of the world around them and reality in general. It is also assumed that the focus
will be on the communicator. The Interpretive Approach draws focus on the creativity of humans
rather than our predictability. Following the

Use Of Macabre Atmosphere In The Masque Of The Red Death
Edgar Allan Poe created a macabre atmosphere in the short story The Masque of the Red Death that
can be seen throughout the entire plot of the story. The story centers around the Red Death, a
devastating disease that causes sharp pains, dizziness, and then profuse bleeding from the pores.
This is the basis of the plot in the story, through which Edgar Allan Poecreates a macabre
atmosphere. This in turn strengthens the theme of the story, which is that no one, no matter how
hard they try, cannot escape death. In The Masque of the Red Death, the Red Death has long
affected the fictional country in which the story takes place. As mentioned before, the Red Death
causes it s victims to die quickly and quite gruesomely. Despite this, Prince Prospero decides to

A Just Culture is a proactive, learning culture that sees events as opportunities instead of
misfortunes and in healthcare is directed towards patient safety and improving patient outcomes.
Allowing employees to report errors without being reprimanded promotes trust. Human errors are
costly and can lead to death when providing care to patients. Creating an environment that fosters
learning in preventing errors boost employees morale. A learning environment allows individual to

Encompassing every department within the hospital is vital to establishing the culture. Leaders
need to portray the just culture they are trying to instill by their actions, words, and behavior
(Emory University, Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, 2013). Leading by example
management creates a mold to change the culture to one that focuses on providing a safe healthcare
environment (Marquis Huston, 2015). The change to the culture is dependent on the actions and
examples set by the leaders and the treatment of employees. Without leaders setting the framework
to guide the organization, a just culture is unattainable. Leaders are crucial to establishing the
pathway of a just culture.
A just culture is necessary in healthcare to promote an environment where mistakes are brought out
in the open and analyzed for ways to prevent errors from repeating. Therefore, there is a need for a

Isadora Duncan And Modern Dance
Isadora Duncan was born on May 26th 1877 in San Francisco, California. She became a known
dancer and instructor, and she influenced dance techniques today. She was one of the people who
came up with dancing in a natural way, unlike modern ballet, allowing the performer to feel right.
She didn t believe that danceshould be unnatural to the person s body. She was a great influence to
modern dance.
After her birth in 1877, her father lost his job at a bank in California. Not shortly afterwards, her
parents divorced around 1880. Isadora was raised by her mother Dora who was a piano teacher.
This probably made her feel the music more because she would move her body to the music
while they practiced and didn t have a teacher at that time. Their family not long after moved to
Oakland, California where her mother struggled with making money as a piano instructor. Isadora
s dad returned later and provided a home for his ex wife.
When Isadora was a little girl she studied ballet like Delsarte technique and she studied Burlesque
and automatically fell in love with dance. She didn t like traditional ballet so she made her own
style that was more comfortable. She believed ballet had too many rules. When she was six she
began teaching kids in her neighborhood how to dance. Word was spreading about her class and
around age ten her classes became bigger.
Eventually she dropped out of school at a young age so Duncan and her sister Elizabeth could earn
extra money from teaching a dance

Educational drama in education
Educational drama in education for sustainable development: ecopedagogy in action
he research on which this paper is based is a response to the UNESCO directive for the Decade
of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) 2005 2014. Educators are advised to prepare
young people for sustainable development and global citizenship and the Arts should be included
in programmes in ESD. This paper presents an overview of a research project based on the
hypothesis that educational drama might be a useful medium for teaching and learning in
environmental, sustainable development and global citizenship education. Central to the project, an

Its goal is to encourage changes in behaviour that will create a more sustainable future in terms of
environmental integrity, economic viability, and a just society for present and future generations
(UNESCO 2005) and to help young people to become global citizens (UNESCO 2006). In response,
the Scottish Government (SDELG 2006) recommends that education for sustainable development
should offer young people opportunities to practise and develop:
sensitivity to and appreciation of the social and natural environment;
some factual understanding of environmental and social problems and issues;
knowledge/understanding of the social environment;
skills to find out about and explore environmental issues;
civic skills to influence decision‐making in society;
researching and communicating information about one s own environment;
improving one s own environment: acting responsibly; and
critical reflection on the quality of environmental developments.
Educators are challenged to find interesting and meaningful ways of helping young people to
develop the knowledge, skills and values they will need to become actively involved in building a
more sustainable future. UNESCO states that drama can be part of the teaching and learning
process. This paper sets out the results of a research project the aim of which was to discover if the

Toni Morrison Analysis Essay
For centuries, poetry has remained an effective method of expressing ones emotions and aesthetics
without excessive criticism. Some distinguished individuals participated in this literary exercise
and despite their motives, they acquired the profound ability to empathize with their audiences
ambitions, fears, and misfortunes. During the lamentable times of racial and economic turmoil, a
brilliant woman named Toni Morrison was introduced into this world and would later be a
remarkable influence on literature. Proactively, she channeled her frustrations and fears of racial
prejudice into her literary works, earning an admirable reputation for her bravery of discussing
sensitive topics regarding racial prejudice and injustices. Likewise,... Show more content on

For instance, Morrison elaborates on the adjective unbidden (Morrison, line 6) by including a
simile, Like the turn of sun through hills (Morrison, line 7) as a result not only does she clarify
her adjectives, but she also establishes a spontaneous and jovial tone she maintains throughout the
poem. Although Morrison is aware of life s relentless issues that ultimately prevent this illustration
from being possible, she subtly encourages her audience to aspire to establish a similar mindset.
Correspondingly, Morrison explores the latter aspect of her theme in her poem Someone Leans
Near In contrast to It Comes Unadorned , Someone Leans Near is significantly more somber as it
likely depicts one s fearful moments prior to their death. Morrison establishes a distressed tone as
she begins her poem, illustrating the protagonist as despondent from experiencing something
ghastly as well as a supernatural entity which correlates with the Someone mentioned in the title.
Unfortunately, the poem does not explicitly mention the living status of the protagonist or whether
or not the entity is a figment of the protagonist s imagination. The protagonist is portrayed as
depressed and lonely, shedding salt [from their] eyes (Morrison, line 2) desperately in need of
words of reason, love or play (Morrison, line 4) In addition, the pessimistic allegories further
establish the protagonist as distant, and the audience can empathize with the protagonist s

3. Performance Measures and Trade Offs
In order to compare the different aggregate plans, there should be some performance measures in
accordance with the objectives of decision maker. These measures would be used in order to
define a plan as better than any other plan and they are grouped according to their relevancies in
parts.
The first tool to compensate demand fluctuation is building inventory as given in the case text.
Quantitative trade off of this tool is basically the opportunity cost of holding inventory which is
given as $8 per unit per month. In addition, keeping products for long time intervals in inventory
could lead them to hold outdated products which can be though both quantitative and qualitative
trade off. Considering that these aspects should have been included in the inventory holding cost;
no additional modification related to these trade offs are considered.
The second mentioned tool is using overtime which is considered as making some of workers

A Study Of Life Span Development
Have you ever asked yourself, who am I? What makes me the individual that I am today? Well,
you are not alone. Many individuals have been trying to figure out why they have certain
characteristics or why they did not have those leadership or charismatic traits that they wish they
could have. All these questions can be explored through the study of life span development.
Within this science, we can explore the factors that influence who you are with identity
development, gender, stereotypes, ethnicity and culture. Identity is what makes the individual.
The uniqueness, such as specific traits ranging from religious to intelligence. Despite having the
same parents, even siblings have different identity. One sibling might posses more intellectual,
and athletic traits than the other, while the other one is complete opposite. But having this
unique set of traits is what makes us as an individuals. It s what distinguishes between you and
the world. If everyone would have had the same identity then we would not have evolved. We
would have not discovered all these scientific achievements throughout history. There wouldn t
be all stars or hall of fame sports athletes in history. Having different qualities as an individual is
what sets you apart and makes up the person you are today. Of course, you might ask yourself,
why do I hold these specific set of traits or why do I act this way? These questions have even been
asked as early during adolescent years. During

New York City Ads
One of America s greatest achievements have involved the planning and construction of our
American cities. Many of us travel and visit places like San Francisco, New York, Washington
D.C., and Chicago to see the America s architectural accomplishments in person. Monuments,
freeways, and many others, are symbols of our success and we are proud of them. So what
happens when our own pride to be the best becomes our own destruction, according to Diesel
company global warming. This Diesel clothing advertisement is provocative and extreme,
displaying a post apocalyptic view of New York city.
The landscape imagery used in this advertisement is New York city with majority of it being
covered up with miles of ocean water. There are only a few buildings standing tall in this
landscape and some can be easily identified, while others are too far out. The Empire State
building and World Trade Center are the few that are visibly represented in this ad. The clear, blue,
and empty sky is the backdrop of the city. It is clear that the intention of this landscape was to
make these buildings clearly visible, because they are the most significant to Americans and
tourists. Also, there appears to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Dashing Dreams, Raising Realism
Dashing Dreams, Raising Realism Everyone is told that they can be anyone they want to be, be
anything they want to be, and go anywhere they want to go. I took this to heart and determined
that I would go to my dream college, Washington University in St. Louis, and become an
astounding author with an English degree to be proud of. However, I knew that I might need a
backup college, and I settled upon Kansas University. Although the choice between the two
originally seemed clear to me, after doing extensive research, my views were quickly morphed.

choosing the so called backup college, is by far the better choice. Educationhas always been my

While going to a noteworthy school is delightful, the magnificence of the school comes at a price.
While Washington University is one of the best colleges in the country, they are known to be
extremely expensive. Not only that, but their scholarships are much harder to obtain. In addition,
even before trying to repay loans, tuition there costs about twice as much as going to Kansas
University. When paying off student loans, even with scholarships, students may find themselves
paying around 77,000 dollars more than their original loan balance of around 180,000 dollars.
Conversely, Kansas University is much cheaper, allowing good students to take out a loan of less
than 100,000 dollars. Additionally, obtaining scholarships from Kansas University is much easier
than trying for one at Washington University. Future students from in state such as myself will find
themselves having to pay less tuition and travel costs. Although Washington University may be
nicer, its ridiculous prices make it a worse alternative to the much more affordable Kansas
University. I always dreamed of attending the glorious Washington University in St. Louis, but
when doing concrete research, I found that Kansas University may be a better alternative. Their
educations vary little, but Kansas University s social environment is much less competitive. In
addition, Washington University offers a much

The Effects Of Time In Sonnet 138 And Sir Walter Raleigh s...
A Matter of Time:
An analysis of the effects of time in William Shakespeare s Sonnet 138 and Sir Walter Raleigh s
The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd
Being a constant and unalterable force of nature, time is constant subject of renaissance poetry.
While some poems have time as the main subject of their conceits, other poems such as William
Shakespeare s Sonnet 138 and Sir Walter Raleigh The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd have
conceits that focus on other themes, but still portray time. Sonnet 138 is a man pondering the
changes of his relationship with his lover. The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd is a reply to a
lover s request for her to live with him and be his love. Both poems exhibits a lover whose youth,
trust, and love have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His knowledge of these nuances of life come from time: That she might think me some untutored
youth, / UnlearnГЁd in the world s false subtleties (Shakespeare 3 4). In this poem tims is as a
teacher, educating the lover on the futility of truly trusting someone. Therefore, time is the direct
origin of his lack of trust. While he can no longer trust anyone due to the lessons of time, he has
learned that trust must be conveyed. Consequently, he points out that seeming trust is an important
characteristic of any relationship. Therefore, he has learned that, while trust is futile, its presence,
whether actual or fabricated, is necessary for any relationship in life. Raleigh travels down a more
complicated path in the relationship between trust and time. The connection between trust and
Raleigh s poem is that time prevents it from existing. The Nymph states, If...truth in every shepherd
s tongue, / These pretty pleasures might me move / To...be thy love, meaning that if the Shepherd
was telling the truth, then she would love him (Raleigh 1 4). However, in Marlowe s poem, the
peom that prompted the Nymph s reply, the shepherd truly believes that his words are truth. The
disconnect between these two beliefs is closed with a simple explanation: time restricts trust. Due
to the fact that time makes ideals unattainable, any promises of such never can be trusted. With this
view, Raleigh again exhibits a pessimistic view of time and its effects.

Capturing the investors imagination with your pitch deck
Now you have the building blocks of a great deck.
You ve seen examples of the slides that work and why they work.
You are aware of the information investors want to see, why they want to see it and how you can
convey it convincingly.
But how do you put these elements together?
What are the fundamentals of a winning pitch deck?
It s time to pay attention to the finer details combining your slides and the information about your
startup with a good storytelling structure.
As I ve outlined before, your pitch deck must tell a story it must not be a list of figures and facts but

So, what does it mean for your pitch deck?
Let s look at the possibilities it offers in its purest form:

That s the basic composition for a good story and a solid way of structuring your essential slides.
However, you can change the impact of your story focusing on how you tell the story, even if you
don t fundamentally change the structure of the slides.
Soren Petersen and Steven Bussard brought up two great examples of this in their blog post Using
Storytelling to Pitch Startups .
They used the slides introduced by Guy Kawasaki and noted that by changing the structure slightly

  • 2. Peter Van Pel s Death Of Mauthausen Concentration Camp Peter was only 18 when his death came. Peter died when his work group was traveling through winter and the cold finally got to him, as they arrived at the final area. He died at a camp, called Mauthausen Concentration Camp. Peter died away from Anne and he never went into another relation. He died not married and not in a relationship. Peter died of natural causes per say. But in a different point of view he was murdered because the camp leader made him travel that far. Along with putting him into a point where he died from traveling. Pete Van Pels was put on a death march; that is when they make you march to a certain area and then shot you or let you die on your own. They did not shot him but they did stay outside in the freezing cold ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Should Music Be Censored Essay Music is the science or art of ordering tones or sounds in succession, in combination, and in temporal relationships to produce a composition having unity.Music provides a powerful form of expression that at its most basic level helps to entertain while containing the power to cause revolutions. It is a way for people to express themselves through beats, lyrics, pitches and ranges. Imagine owning a musicstore, and a new album about police brutality is brought to your store for you to sell. An undercover cop came in and bought the album, and told you that if you didn t take the albums off the shelves you would be arrested and your store would be shut down. There are debates today on whether the government should censor the music that we listen to.Some believe it has a negative effect on the listeners and cause them to become the lyrics. Since music is a form of expression, censoring the music would be a violation of our rights. While many believe censorshipto be a necessity in certain contexts, the idea of censorship is at fault in its attempt to control and stop the advance knowledge of the world today. There is fear of... They use their songs to get an issue out to the world, to tell about something personal, for entertainment, to relate to the world, or to make a statement. Censoring the music is discrimination against the emotion the artist felt in their song. It s like taking the first amendment away from the artist and listeners. The government can t limit expression just because of any listener, or a community is offended by the content and characters of the song. • 4. Negative Impact Of Technology The Negative Impacts of Technology Technology is always continually advancing. The impact that technology has had on individuals and on society is negative. This negative impact is driven by technology s ability to worsen social interaction and provide a source of constant distraction. Technology worsens social interactions by taking away real communication and relationship boundaries. With the rise in popularity of phones and social media, people are having less real communication. In Glennon Doyle Melton s essay, 6 Reasons Social Media is Dangerous for Me, she writes, The students were hanging around in awkward circles, trying to get noticed or trying not to get noticed, just like we did in high school. But we noticed with sadness one major difference. EVERY KID WE SAW WAS on her phone (3). Everyone is paying more attention and occupied with their gadgets instead of to actual people such as their family and friends. Technology is used by people as an avoidance strategy. People may be comfortable chatting online, but not face to face. When chatting online, people are unable to express themselves using body language, tone, or voice. It is clear that children will not know how to read basic social cues or engage in small talk as a result of technology. This causes them to not be able to gain crucial social skills needed for graceful social interactions. Technology also creates a lack of relationship boundaries in today s youth. With the accessibility of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay on The Speckled Band and The Man with the Twisted Lip Examine the settings which Arthur Conan Doyle has chosen for his stories in The Speckled Band and The Man with the Twisted Lip. Consider the effects the writer has created and how they contribute to the atmosphere. Arthur Conan Doyle s character, Sherlock Holmes, lived in Victorian London during the 19th century. His perception of the streets is portrayed as a dark and isolated environment. The atmosphere was far from welcoming. The streets were overrun with crime, beggars and prostitutes. Through the dense smog, the gas lamps provided feeble lighting which flickered as passer bys walked on their way. The odour which drifted through the air was vile. This was the result of no sewage system and low levels of hygiene. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A.C. Doyle reinforces its undesirable presence by describing it as vile . The reader will instantly see that it is a dirty, eerie place where no one would want to be. It is also personified as lurking which gives it a sense of hidden mystery. Holmes and Watson s journey is prolonged and tiresome as they travel through: the endless succession of sombre and deserted streets This description is effective because it makes the reader think of the continuous series of streets which have no definite end and lead to nowhere. The adjective sombre makes the reader think of a dull, dismal space containing emptiness. Everything Watson and Holmes pass along their way appears to be gloomy and depressing: another dull wilderness of bricks , ...a dull wrack. , star twinkled dimly Stars are expected to be bright, however here it is described in a contrasting manner. Although it is twinkling, it is still dim. The reader may imagine that these streets are so dismal not even the brightest star could appear as it is. As the reader is taken to the setting of the opium den, it feels as if they have been lead to an even more discomforting place. The steps lead: down to a black gap It is like being transported to a cold and sinister place. The reader is given the feeling of being taken down to hell. They are unaware of what lies beneath, ... • 6. Cross Country Camp Narrative Cross country season my sophomore year is one I will never forget! It all started back in August 2013 at cross country camp. It was my first year attending camp because unfortunately we could not have it my freshman year. Coach Martin had a late start to practice because of a few issues with the construction of the turf. Luckily, Martin still coached us and still coaches us to this very day! As camp began we became pretty close as a team. This was the first time Coach had seen his team have a strong bond of friendship. Even though camp was really fun, it sure was a tough week! The week consisted of running twice a day and eating lots and lots of food. By the end of the week, your legs felt like bricks. The first two months of the season had flown by and it was already October. It was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We were fighting the pain to make it to the last two races of the season, Regionals and States. Regionals was a very emotional race for us. The previous year we were defeated by Parkersburg and was unable to attend states. We had ruined the streak for the girls varsity of PHS to make it to states. We were devastated. This race was different than the others. This race determined who ran in states. We knew we had to give it our all. At the start line, Coach wrote a 1 on our leg to keep in mind the one year we didn t make it to states. We knew that staying home this year was not an option. We raced hard with everything we had. As everyone finished we had this feeling of defeat. We cried and just put ourselves down. We were not confident in our performances. Coach Martin and P. Sines knew it was a close race. However they had more information than we did. They knew the results. They watched us cry as a team and continue to believe we didn t make top three. This was the moment I will never forget. Phoenix Jackson is the main character and she is an old, black woman who resides in the countryside of Mississippi. She is on a journey to reach a town called Natchez, so that she can get her grandson medicine. But, along the way she is faced with obstacles. These obstacles do not stop her from where she is trying to go, because through all and all, love inspires bravery. When he asked if she was afraid of the gun, she replied, No, sir, I seen plenty go off closer by, in my day, and for less than what I done (DiYanni). The hunter even replied that she is scared of nothing, and she goes on her way. Her perception of these obstacles emphasizes her intense physical, mental, and moral effort to complete this journey (Heller). Phoenix is brave physically because she had to climb over logs, through thorn bushes, and a barbed wire fence. • 9. Cloud Computing Changed The Way Of Computing And Data And... Abstract Cloud Computing changed the way of computing and data and storage concept nowadays. In Cloud computing we use different type of security concepts to work with it. In present we are working with the encryption mechanism to secure the data. Encryption mechanism is failing and not capable to secure the cloud data as well as internal data theft attacks. For these problems we are proposing different approach to secure the cloud FOG COMPUTING. In this technology we will use decoy information technology to work with and we will monitor the behavior of the user to intercept the user s behavior inside the cloud even though he/she is registered user on the cloud. KEYWORDS CLOUD COMPUTING, DECOY, FOG COMPUTING, SECURITY, USER BEHAVIORAL PROFILE,ENCRYPTION 1. INTRODUCTION Cloud has become essential part of our life. We are almost reliable on cloud for data storage, Due to this reliability There are many threats for cloud and the researches which are going on is basically concentrated on the encryption .Encryption is insufficient to prevent the cloud for the data theft attack. Main problem on cloud in insider data theft and the encryption is no capable to prevent the cloud. • 10. Essay On Social Identity Social media is often praised for its ability to connect people worldwide, but in reality, it is forcing us further apart; we are no longer individuals but are instead creating for ourselves a fake social identity. Nicholas Carr, author of Is Google Making Us Stupid? focuses on how reading on the Internethas made it almost impossible for us to do deep reading. In Just Between You, Me, and My 622 BFF S, Peggy Orenstein looks at how social media has stolen younger girl s identities, and formed their sexual identity. When Google was first created, its goal was to organize the world s information and make it universally accessible and useful ( How We Started and Where We Are Today ). There is certainly nothing sinister in the mission statement, and undeniably Google has proved to be an essential and convenient part of life. However, convenience is the dominant issue at play here. Research no longer need hours to uncover; in as few as five minutes, one can have an answer, source, or image ready to absorb and spit out in whatever paper or conversation they might have. This is the type of fast pace environment that is negatively affecting us; we are conditioned to find our answers quickly. How many of us have actually gone to page 2 in an Internet search? If our answer is not given in the first few links, we rephrase the question in order to get the answer we need. We train ourselves to work fast and efficiently, and while that might be helpful at the moment, overall it is hindering our ability to think deeply about issues. This inability to think not only affects our research, but our day to day lives; we have trained ourselves to glance at an image or post, and immediately draw assumptions from it. Social media is designed to be simple and usable to all age groups, which forces us to simplify our posts, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We can have a long list of regions within EU that are seeking for independence: Scotland, the Basque Country, Catalonia, Flanders, Venetian, Bavarian, Corsica and more is coming. Although each case has its distinct story, they have some common reasons for separatism, for example, due to long term history tension, culture difference, different national identity perceived by people, minority groups under representative and economic inequality. Besides, benefits such as regional sovereign are both motivations and reasons for regions to secede. Many scholars also argue that the integration of Europe is another spur of the independence movements. However, I will argue that the effect of European integration on the regional independence is... Every year Catalonia is taxed for about €20 billion, about 10% of Catalonia s GDP, by the Spanish government and never return back as social investments (Srmava, 2014). The Spanish government use that money to subsidise other poorer regions. Staying in Spain now become a brake to the development of Catalonia s economics. The hypothesis for partition of Belgium is based on the similar story. The state is divided by language and history and economics inequality into Flanders and Wallonia. The case for Scotland is a bit different as people use the same language and share the culture. The two major arguments are the oil and currency. North Sea oil and gas reserves can help Scotland to become one of the richest countries in the world after independence. Moreover, Scotland led by Salmond wants to join the common currency union, while the London based government does not. The former said this is for the good of everyone , because of removal obstacles for transaction within EU and increasing the competitiveness. The Cameron government argued back that joining a currency union would reduce the autonomy of economics, and the recent financial crisis showed the fragility of the euro system at the moment. In the play, Macbeth by William Shakespeare, deception is always present and things are not always what they appear to be. In this great work of literature, the three witches; the Thane of Cawdor; and Macbeth and Lady Macbethare the very embodiments of trickery and show us the true effects deception can have on man. From the first scene of the play, the reader immediately gets a glimpse of the deception meshed into Macbeth s world. The depiction of timeless issues such as these is what makes the storyline of the play compelling to me. Also, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are both strong conveyors of deceit. From the onset on the play, Macbeth is characterized as strong and loyal to his king and country. However, once the witches prophecy is planted in his head, his thirst for King is so intense that it cannot be quenched and slowly his admirable traits are erased. When Macbeth is preparing for the King s arrival at his house, he starts to question his murderous thoughts. He states that the King will be here in double trust , for Macbeth will be his hostess and will also be acting as a subject of the state. How can he possibly do such a grim task? The answer is Lady Macbeth. She lusts after becoming Queen and living a life of fantasy and does everything in her power to persuade her husband to kill the King. She questions his courage, she feeds his ego and she emasculates poor Macbeth all in an effort to get what she wants disguised as what is best for him. When he agrees, she tells him to look like th innocent flower, but be the serpent under t in order to commit this regicide. First, their origin was different. Even though they both had African influence as mentioned, ragtime was more strongly influenced by European music style, and blues was heavily African music style. According to Durk Sutro in his book Jazz for Dummies, Ragtime was European influenced, in the sense that it was composed, not improvised, and featured carefully crafted melodies and harmonies...ragtime could sound concisely European (ch.5). Although European influenced, there is some African influence such as rhythm and African banjo music as mentioned during the lecture. Ragtime rhythm was the rhythms of the black dancers who used their heels to make drum sounds, or to that of the black church singers who could vary the rhythms of a Christian hymn so much that a white Christian could not even recognize it (Tirro, pp.37). On the other hand, Blues were basically from work songs of African Americans slaves at the time. It is a native American music, the product of the black man in this country, or, to put it more exactly the way I have come to think about it, blues could not exist if the African captives had not become American captives (pp.17), said Jones and Baraka. This is considered to be after birth. This is another point in which brain development is influenced in a child. After birth there are five periods; the neonatal, infancy, toddlerhood, preschool, and adolescent periods. Each period is important in the brain development of a child, but the neonatal period is most crucial. The neonatal period is the first 28 days of life for a baby. This is most important because it sets the tone for the child s development. Think of it this way, the neonatal period is like the beginning of a book. The opening paragraph or chapter sets the tone for the rest of the book. With this, come the influences that effect brain development for the rest of the child s life. These influences are effects of the environment, nurture or neglect, and early childhood programs. The environment that the child is in, influences their brain development. My mother, who is always on top of things, is preparing my breakfast. Making sure that I can never have a peaceful breakfast, she ensures that I receive my daily speech. Do not talk to strangers, Rachel. Do not reveal where my family is from, Rachel. Do not do anything where the police can be involved, Rachel. Reception theory is the social interaction aspect, and the Two Step Flow theory is also similar. Formulated first in the The People s Choice, the hypothesis suggests that ideas often flow from radio and print to the opinion leaders and from them to the less active sections of the population. (Lazarfield and Katz, 1970) Paul Felix Lazerfiled originally came up with this theory, and then later, Elihu Katz began working with him. The two of them looked at during the presidential elections, how the votes make up the audience s minds and wrote a book exploring the different factors of it. They speculated how the mass media connects with people, however this communication is routed through opinion leaders. These people are very media literate and they link their understanding to others. The mass media uses comedians as the opinion leaders, as they take real life news, and analyse it in a comical way, and the mass media probably entrust the comedians more, as they come across less bias and less of an agender, and the public find the news sometimes so bias, it was almost comical. Some people such as yourself, who do not support military recruiting in high schools, worry that military recruiters prey on the poor students and persuade them to join by offering things such as signing bonuses and the promise of free college. Admittedly those things might be offered, although not specifically for those of a lower income household, but for all recruits, and they are not intended to be used to trap those students into the Military service. In a study done by the Center for Naval Analyses under the Department of Defense it was found that when the nation is divided into five strata of affluence , from poorest to wealthiest areas, most recruits hail from the three middle income brackets while the poorest (under $36,74 a year) and the wealthiest (over $76,981 a year) brackets are under represented (CNA 2014). In the definition of quality in Chapter 2, Feigenbaum and Crosby both state what they think is the contributing part of quality. Feigenbaum believes that meeting the customers expectations is the key, while Crosby feels that if you put an impeccable product out, then that s quality. However, Goetsch and Davis define a hybrid version of Feigenbaum and Crosby s thoughts on Quality, which incorporate the constant change that is the customer. The customer is the driving force that makes business produce goods and services. Each era in the history of quality has its place. Lessons learned along the way have shaped where we are today Quality Management. In the craftsmanship era, businesses had relationships with their small town customers who produced small scale personable products or services that could be shared word of mouth. In order to take quality business into the future there had to be major changes if companies were going to be able to produce quality on the global scale. Quality managers tried everything from getting the employees to believe in their work, receive awards, and incentives to do more with less. The history of Quality Management has driven goods and services to be great, and change with the customers expectations which continue changing. • 35. Nuclear Power And Nuclear Energy On September 26th, Doctor Robert McTaggart came in and spoke to us about nuclear energy. Nuclear energy uses the heat produced from nuclear transformations and reactions to power turbines which create energy. A majority of the time, nuclear plants run off the fission of one of three elements: Uranium 235, Uranium 233, or Plutonium 239. Something else that Dr. McTaggart said that really stuck with me was that fissile isotopes like U 235 give off more energy than is put into the system. Currently in the US, nuclear powermakes up 8.3% of our country s total energy and all of the energy produced goes towards the electric power sector, where it makes up 22% of the total amount of electric power. Some advantages to the use of nuclear energy are that it has a carbon footprint of zero, it creates constant energy, and it has a low operating cost. With no incidents, nuclear power is very environmentally friendly, with no emissions and lots of power capacity. It is also very efficient because most of the time, the energy that is harvested out of nuclear fission is greater than the energy put in. The same thing cannot be said for any other resource, renewable or not. Once they are built, nuclear plants have a very low operating cost, making them economical after they are built. Some disadvantages to nuclear power are waste issues, high cost of building a power plant, and terrible ramifications is safety precautions are not met. Lewis, Sonnet 1 (from Five Sonnets), pages 476 477 Shadow and Light This sonnet brings to mind the feelings one has when faced with fear or loss. Lewis puts it beautifully that we all grieve in different manners, but that our pain is the same. I feel that he makes a call for people to be more understanding of others. That just because someone does not show the same emotion as you, does not mean they do not feel. It means they feel in a different manner. Lewis also says, we do not shout and shake our fists at God (p 476), to me this shows a deeper understanding of life. We all can find someone or something to blame for problems or injustices in life, but until we learn to put the blame where it lies we are doomed to feelings of pain and loss. Samuel Johnson, excerpt from Prayers and Meditations, pages 25 27 Shadow and Light This selection is a bittersweet plea from Johnson to God. His wife, 20 years his senior, has passed and he is obviously stricken with grief. Johnson states, Oh Lord, release me from my sorrow, fill me with just jopes, true faith, and holy consolations, and enable me to do my duty in that state of life to which Thou hast been pleased to call me, without disturbance from fruitless grief, or tumultuous imaginations; . This speaks to his sorrow over the loss of his wife and his determination to continue on as is God s plan for him. All three approaches differ greatly in their paradigms, or belief systems, on how the study of communication should be approached. Of the three approaches, the Interpretive Approach is the one that suits me the best. Why you might ask? Simply put, it just makes sense. The interpretive Approach, also referred to as the Humanistic Approach, is looking at communication through a system of thoughts that celebrate human nature and it s potential. Simply put, this approach looks specifically at human nature as it pertains to a specific person, or specific group, as a whole rather than the general consensus. As with the other methods, the Interpretive Approach has it s own assumptions, theories and methods, ethical issues, and strengths and limitations. When studying communication, there are certain assumptions to be made. These assumptions vary depending on the paradigm that the researcher is following. In the Interpretive Approach, the major assumption is that humans construct their own reality, and researchers must tap into and understand that reality. This could not be truer, as everyone has their own perception of the world around them and reality in general. It is also assumed that the focus will be on the communicator. The Interpretive Approach draws focus on the creativity of humans rather than our predictability. Following the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Use Of Macabre Atmosphere In The Masque Of The Red Death Edgar Allan Poe created a macabre atmosphere in the short story The Masque of the Red Death that can be seen throughout the entire plot of the story. The story centers around the Red Death, a devastating disease that causes sharp pains, dizziness, and then profuse bleeding from the pores. This is the basis of the plot in the story, through which Edgar Allan Poecreates a macabre atmosphere. This in turn strengthens the theme of the story, which is that no one, no matter how hard they try, cannot escape death. The change to the culture is dependent on the actions and examples set by the leaders and the treatment of employees. Without leaders setting the framework to guide the organization, a just culture is unattainable. Leaders are crucial to establishing the pathway of a just culture. A just culture is necessary in healthcare to promote an environment where mistakes are brought out in the open and analyzed for ways to prevent errors from repeating. Therefore, there is a need for a consensus across the healthcare industry. To transform healthcare from the blame culture to a just culture will require change that extends beyond hospitals to the industry (Ross, 2015). She was a great influence to modern dance. After her birth in 1877, her father lost his job at a bank in California. Not shortly afterwards, her parents divorced around 1880.
