Essay on Alzheimer’s Disease
Alzheimer s Disease
Alzheimer s disease is a progressive condition where the neurons degenerate in the brain, while
the brain substance shrinks in volume. Alzheimer s is also the number one cause of dementia.
When it was first noticed, Alzheimer s was thought to be a pre senile disease, but now it is
known to be responsible for seventy five percent of the dementia cases in people over sixty five
years of age. Alzheimer s disease usually causes several years of personal and intellectual decline
until death. Because there is an increasing number of elderly citizens in the United States, research
into the causes and possible cures for the disease is on the rise (1).
Several theories have been made concerning factors that may cause ... Show more content on

Also, women are thought to be at a slightly higher risk than men (4).
The symptoms of the disease vary somewhat among individuals. However, there are three distinct
stages that a person suffering from Alzheimer s will experience. In the first stage, the patient
experiences some problems with memory loss and will often make lists or other aids to
compensate for this loss. The individual can begin to feel depressed or anxious because of the
memory problems. This stage often Goes unnoticed as symptoms of Alzheimer s (1).
The second stage is marked by the change from forgetfulness to severe memory loss. Long aGo
events are often easier to recall than things that have happened within the last few days. For
example, one might remember childhood events but are unable to remember what they saw on
television last night or what they ate for breakfast. Disorientation in relation to time and place
occurs often, along with increased anxiety and recurring mood swings. The patient also
experiences dysphasia (inability in finding the right word to say), increased difficulty with math
problems, and loss of direction in familiar places. Personality changes will soon become noticeable
when this second stage is reached (1).
Finally, the third stage is marked by severe disorientation and confusion. Usually, the worst signs of
memory loss and disorientation occur at night. In this

What Is Thanksgiving
As I woke up in my bed, I knew it was going to be a wonderful and unforgettable day for me. Due
to the fact that I was fortunate enough to be able to experience and have a glimpse of what
Thanksgiving looks like in America. Before then, what I knew about Thanksgiving were all from
the movies, dramas or books that I had watched and read. I knew that Thanksgivingis an important
holiday for families and friends to gather together, to celebrate, to feast and to enjoy staying with
one another. It is just similar to one of the Chinese traditional festivals, Mid Autumn Festival. The
Full moon symbolizes family reunion in Chinese tradition, so at that time, families will gather
together to enjoy the full moon and the traditional type of bakery, mooncakes.... Show more content

I got up at ten in the morning and was totally ready for a big meal. In order to eat as much as I
could that night, I even skipped and ignored the breakfast. Walking downstairs, Patrick, my host
mother s boyfriend, was already there sitting on the couch and watching TV. Wearing a gray
shirt and a pair of black pants, he looks like a kindly uncle who you would like to talk with. Also,
he has a comforting presence. Especially with his glasses on, he looks even more knowledgeable.
That s why hearing that he is a principal did not surprise my housemate and me. The Macy s
Thanksgiving Day Parade was live streamed on TV. However, my host mother could not watch it
because she was still busy in the kitchen fixing dinner for us. She really wanted me and my
housemate to have a good impression on Thanksgiving

Phoebe Bridgers Stranger In The Alps Analysis
Phoebe Bridgers debut album, Stranger in the Alps brings listeners in touch with their innermost
feelings through hauntingly beautiful melodies and dark, heartbreaking lyrics. Inspired by artists
(now friends) such as Conor Oberst and Julien Baker, this L.A. native s blend of folk, pop, and
rock tells stories of relationships, loneliness, and the impact of both on our interactions with
ourselves and others. She has gotten the attention of songwriters like Ryan Adams, Bethany
Cosentino of Best Coast, and Hayley Williams of Paramore. Adams even stated that the feelings
he gets listening to Bridgers are the same as when he listens to Bob Dylan. Is there any higher
praise than a Dylan comparison? The opening track, Smoke Signals , is filled... Show more content

The track deals with the aftermath of a death of a friend and the pain that comes with it. With such a
personal story like this, an intimate connection between the singer and audience is developed. The
lines, Wishing I was someone else/ Feeling sorry for myself/ And I remembered someone s kid is
dead hit you with with reality and are possibly the most powerful on the whole record. Some of
the tracks make you wonder if the twenty two year old singer songwriter is okay and for me it
was Killer . The main theme of the song is about the lack of control people have over others and
the loneliness felt when feelings are not reciprocated by those we love. Two tracks on the album
contain a more upbeat instrumental sound compared to the rest. The faster tempo and electric
guitar heard in Motion Sickness and the duet with Conor Oberst in Would You Rather are
probably the most cheerfully arranged on the record and stand out in contrast to the slower
paced piano ballad, guitar plucking, and acoustic songs like Georgia , Demi Moore , and Scott
Street . The authenticity in Stranger in the Alps proves Bridgers integrity as a songwriter. Her
somber lyrics combined with beautiful melodies truly make this record stand out, especially as a
debut. This darker folk rooted album is just in time for the depressing months of fall and winter, so
stock up on tissues. I m looking forward to see what Phoebe Bridgers comes out with next, but in
the meantime you can catch her opening for War On Drugs this

Pros And Cons Of Violent Video Games
Position/Argumentative Essay Should teens be able to buy violent video games? No, teens should
not be able to purchase video games that contain violent content. Violent video games in a person s
early years could result in much, much worse things later on in life. Studies show that violent video
games could result in bullying, criminal activity, or in worse cases, suicide. Games that withhold
violent scenes can result in bullying. Children will see what they are doing in their game, and think
that it would be acceptable to do that type of thing in the real world. They may not be going as far
as shooting someone, but they can turn that violence into a smaller aspect of hitting or kicking one
of their fellow classmates at school. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Pew Research Center reported in 2008 that ninety seven percent of youth ages twelve to
seventeen played some types of video game, and that two thirds of them played action and
adventure games that tend to contain violent or vulgar content. A separate analysis found that more
than half of all video games rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board contained violence,
including more than ninety percent of those rated as appropriate for children ten years or older.
Given how common these games are, it is a small wonder that mental health clinicians often find
themselves fielding questions from parents who are worried about the immense impact of violent
video games on their children. , says the Harvard Mental Health Letter (Violent Video Games and
Young People, Harvard Health).Violent video games can, and will often result in criminal activity
later on in and adolescent s life. Teenagers witness the things that their video games are telling
them to do. It gets stuck in the teen s mind, and they eventually know how to not only master
killing someone in High Definition, but also in real life. Louisiana law enforcement shared a
striking story about how an eight year old boy intentionally shot and killed his elderly caregiver

Realism And Impressionism
Realism and Impressionism are two noteworthy periods in history of art during which distinctive
types of art including painting, architecture, music, essentially enhanced, mirroring the ideologies
and artistic philosophies during that time.
Throughout the movement of Realism in the 19th century, it had become common for Parisians to
make outings to the suburbs along the Seine and, although related scenes had already appeared in
illustrations and prints on themes of Parisian leisure, they were unusual as the subject matter for
large painting. In general terms of suburban leisure, Courbet s was first of what became a highly
popular topic for painting, especially among the Impressionists, from Г‰douard Manet DГ©jeuner
sur l herbe and Claude Monet On the bank of the Seine to George Seurat s A Sunday Afternoon on
the Island of La Grande Jatte .
This essay compares and contrasts these two art periods regarding the major works created by
outstanding artists. In such manner, the work Young ladies on the banks of the Seine , created by
Gustave Courbet has been compared with Г‰douard Manet s painting Luncheon on the grass .
Courbet s painting depicts two young Parisiennes resting during the summer heat in a flowery spot
under overhanging trees on the shady banks of the Seine. The piece exhibited for the first time in
Paris in 1857 provoked a scandal caused mainly by the Courbet s choice of subject. He changed the
traditionally way of portraying women within a natural setting with

Bad Atonement Theology And Broken Justice Systems
The Broken Cross;
Bad Atonement Theology and Broken Justice Systems
Introduction As we move through Holy Week, the journey of Lent leads Christians to not simply
commemorate Jesus suffering on the cross, but engage the paschal event on every level of our
experiences. For me, this included questioning the impact of the execution which stands so central
to Christianity. In her book The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness,
Michelle Alexander describes how the mass incarceration of black Americans has been steadily
undermining any progress made by the civil rights movement. She argues that even though Jim
Crow laws are no longer written, the plethora of young people of color arrested remain
marginalized by a broken justice system. The United States represents about 4.4% of the world s
population, it houses around 22 % of the world s prisoners, an overwhelming majority of whom
are young, poor, and black. Recently, Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam signed a bill to allow the
use of the electric chair in executions when the drugs for lethal injections are not available. How
has this frighteningly oppressive system become normative justice for America? Does focusing on
the crucifixion as the foundation of Christian transition per dispose modern Christians to be
unconcerned with the death penalty as a fixture of our justice system? In this essay, I will explore
the impact of a deformed atonement theology on modern Christian s interactions with our

Failure And Overcoming Adversity
Failure is certain for every human being on this planet. We all have a time where we fall short of
something or don t get things accomplished the way we like to. But it is all about whether you can
face adversity, and can you face the challenge that failure brings.
Failure it is not a great feeling to experience especially when you set the bar high for yourself.
With failure comes stress and you can really start kicking yourself for it. Failure can take over the
mental mindset of some one. Think about it when you fail at what you do that is the most vivid
thing on your mind. It is all you can think about and then it can start to take a toll. I remember I
was going into the 6th grade and the middle school councilor called home, and told me how good
my MSA test scores were and they wanted to move me to honors classes. I immediately jumped at
the opportunity without any hesitation. I didn t know what to expect but I was just really excited

myself in a hole that would almost be impossible to get out of being halfway through my

Comparing Two Waves Research Paper
The term waves can have an infinite amount of meanings. It can refer to a girl s hair, the beach
and most importantly a physics theme. In a physics classroom, a wave is a disturbance that
carries energy from one point to another. The types of waves are endless from electromagnetic,
sound, magnetic, longitudinal and transverse just to name a few. The later two are key in class as
they are the most common types of waves and not only are they used to teach a concept but are
also used in our everyday lives. A key difference between a longitudinal and a transverse waveis the
way they transport energy. While a transverse wave does not require a medium to pass on energy a
longitudinal on the other hand must have a medium for it to pass down energy.
Each of these waves have a group of properties and display a certain behavior that makes them
distinguishable. For example in a longitudinal wave the particles move left and right making other
particles oscillate. Meanwhile in a transverse wave the particles move up and down. A set of
vocabulary words are attached to each wave and also helps distinguish them in a physics problem
and when presented with an image. In a longitudinal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

does Stevenson present in the novel The strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde ? Throughout

Men of high social classes were expected to live honourable lives [Dr. Jekyll]. They live in smart
houses in the rich west end , normally the smartest areas of the city. This citation eludes the most
fortunate people of the Victorian era. However, a few minutes walk from the rich west end laid
a completely new London, SOHO, one of the poorest areas of London. In SOHO dirty children
roamed past ragged washing in the streets and criminals stalked the night [Mr. Hyde] . We can
see that the unfortunate community of people were living in less favourable properties which
was unsafe and deficient to enable comfortable lifestyles similar to that of their counterparts. In
the novel Victorian England is described through vivid scenes and the expected morals of
society are presented through role models such as the lawyer (Mr. Utterson). The novel makes
numerous references to, and uses aspects of the Victorian society within its plot. Reputation and
background more than financial status determined the acceptance of an individual into a society.
Appearance was also a factor upon which people were judged as in the novel the characters turn
out to be as they are first described. An example of first impressions is given when Mr. Utterson
s talks with Mr. Hyde for the first time. He gave an impression of deformity without any nameable
malformation . He is saying that Mr. Hyde looked half developed but could not tell what it was, as

personal security, equality, arbitrary detention, enjoyment of the poverty and the right of the

South Stack Lighthouse History
South Stack Lighthouse, Wales Located to the northwest of Holyhead on South Stack Island, this
lighthouse is best known for its picturesque setting and also for being one of the most haunted
locations in the United Kingdom. Locals and visitors alike have reported countless ghost
sightings of former keeper Jack Jones, a man who was injured and killed during a massive storm
in 1853 that destroyed two hundred ships along the coast, including the famous vessel Royal
Charter. South Stack Lighthouse first opened in 1809 and is considered an architectural marvel. It
is not a simple venture, after all, to build a tower on the rock below steep cliffs, especially when
the area is surrounded by such rough seas. The structure originally used twenty one oil lamps but is

steps to the tower s peak to take in a bird s eye view of the town. Hook Lighthouse, Ireland Also
known as Hook Head Lighthouse, this tower has watched over Hook Peninsula in County
Wexford, Ireland, for nearly eight centuries. This places it among the oldest lighthouses in the
world and the oldest working one in the country. It is said that, in the 5th century, a Welsh monk
first made a beacon at this location out of piles of stone and either local combustible products or
timber as a way to guide ships into Waterford Harbour. The lighthouse was converted to be fully
automated in 1996 and is fully operational to this day. The location also offers guided tours of the

The Perfect Escape
Ever since the creation of Alcatraz, it was made apparent that it would be the best prison ever
constructed due to its location and the way it was built. Many people attempted to escape the so
called inescapable prison, but only few people s efforts came to fruition. John and Clarence
Anglin, Frank Morris, and Allen West carefully planned and executed the perfect escape. To this
day, this escape is considered a mystery. The origin of Alcatraz dates back to 1775 when an
explorer named Juan Manuel de Ayala discovered the island and named it Alcatraces. The name
was later shortened to Alcatraz. This island is located off the San Francisco Bay, and during the
California Gold Rush the government set aside the island for a possible military... Show more

many people still attempted it. John Anglin, Clarence Anglin, Frank Morris, and Allen West are the
four people behind the famous escape of Alcatraz. Frank Lee Morris is often thought of as the
mastermind behind the escape. Frank Morris was registered as prisoner #AZ1441. Morris was
taken to Alcatraz in January of 1960. He was very well acquainted with prisons. As a young
child, he was an orphan and was passed around to different households. His criminal record
began at the young age of thirteen. He was in and out of prison from charges of theft to breaking
and entering. Often times he would be back in jail less than a year after getting out. Before
going to Alcatraz he had already successfully escaped many prisons. Upon arrival, Morris began
plotting how to escape. Morris was said to, have an I.Q. of 133, borderline genius, and was the
mastermind of the escape plot (Frank Morris: Only Alcatraz Escapee was from D.C.). John
Anglin s number was #AZ1476, Clarence Anglin s number was #AZ1485, and Allen West s was

The Boy In The Striped Pajamas Text Response
Looking over this picture it makes me think of how badly the Jews were treated and how bad
they wanted to escape. Jews had been beaten, neglected, and starved. They were taken away
from their families and some even killed in front of their loved ones. They would not even stay
at one place for very long, they would travel from camp to camp because of the war. It is terrible
how they could take someone because they were a Jew and not even know anything about them. It
is not that the Jew did anything wrong it is simply just because they are Jews.
Secondly, when I look at this picture it makes me think of the movie we watched, The Boy in
The Striped Pajamas and the book that we are reading Night. The person to the left of the picture

Knowing that in the movie the only thing separation the boy in the striped pajamas from the

Clegg and Smart (2010) noted that the term outcome measurement process is often interchangeable
with achievement, goal, objective and indicator. Furthermore, Clegg and Smart (2010) went on to
identify these terms, goals, outcomes present as essential elements to assist in identification of
relevant data for program evaluation. Definitions of terms recognizes that goals are a broad
statement of the ultimate aims of the program, outcomes are the changes in the lives of recipients,
organization communities and those impacted by the program, and indicators indentifies specific,
measurable information that can be collected or tracked to show that outcomes have occurred
(Clegg Smart, 2010).
In as much, this paper will utilize the same terminology of goals, outcomes and indicators in the
DSMES program development evaluation. However, the first step in program development begins
with the needs assessment or statement of need, as previously noted Saline County needs
assessment revealed the lack of an outpatient DSMES and insulin pump management program
which accepted all patients. Components of the needs assessment identified in the previous logic
model are listed in Table 1 the adapted Logic Model provides an expansion of details that address
numerous facets for program planning, statement of need, funding, staffing reaching stakeholders,

The Merchant of Venice
The Merchant of Venice
The Merchant of Venice was written in 1598 by William Shakespeare. The story is set in
Elizabethan times, which was the sixteenth century. People back then were quite prejudiced
towards any race that was not Christian. They would have hated Jews. When Shylock would come
onto the stage, the audience would have just booed him back off. The Christians had their reasons
for hating the Jews. The fact that they supposedly killed Jesus still angers many people today.
Christians were resentful of their wealth. Jews were very successful with their businesses. You
could say that the Christians were experiencing Xenophobia, fear of foreigners. They feared that
they would take over their land. So when Shylock comes to act, ... Show more content on

The audience would feel some sort of pity for him when Antonio says, I m like to kick you again!
On the other hand the Elizabethan audience members might go up on stage and give him a pat on
the back.
When the court scene begins, Shylock is not anywhere to be seen nor is Antonio, the supposed
victim of his. The duke is there who is supposed to be the master of ceremonies. One thing that
you should know is that Antonio and the Duke are good friends, which puts Shylock in a bad
position right away as the man who decides his fate is biased towards Antonio, meaning that he
is in favour of helping out Antonio. The Duke says to Antonio, I m Sorry for Thee. You can see
that Shylock will have his work cut out for him. The court rooms are a place of justice, the duke
should not even think to be biased. They describe Shylock as, stony, cold and inhuman. They say
that he is incapable of pity. He is at the bottom of the chain of beings, below animals. You can see
that Shylock is being criticised in his absence. The Christians who are in the court at the moment
refer to him as The Jew. He is nameless to these people. He is portrayed, through their use of
language, as a stone cold villain.
After much criticism and behind his back abuse, Shylock comes in. His entry is quite dramatic in
the way of what he brings in with him. It shows his cold side, and

Iliotibial Band Syndrome
Iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS) is a condition that often causes knee pain. It can also cause pain in
the outside of your hip, thigh, and knee. The iliotibial band is a strip of tissue that runs from the
outside of your hip and down your thigh to the outside of your knee.
Repeatedly bending and straightening your knee can irritate the iliotibial band.
CAUSES
This condition is caused by inflammation and irritation from the friction of the iliotibial band
moving over the thigh bone (femur) when you repeatedly bend and straighten your knee.
RISK FACTORS
This condition is more likely to develop in people who:
Frequently change elevation during their workouts.
Run very long distances.

The Pauline Epistles I Essay
Our source of knowledge of the apostolic work of Paul comes first from the Book of Acts. The
epistles written by Paul serve to further our knowledge of his mission. These letters were written to
churches that he had founded or churches that were known to him. Luke s account of Paul
introduces us to the basic facts about this important biblical figure. A more complete understanding
of Paul s journeys can be gleaned from his letters. These epistles were written almost at the time
they occurred and they comprise some of the earliest works contained in the New Testament. These
letters had already been written when Luke wrote the Book of Acts, but a close reading indicates
that they are independent of one another. Paul wrote letters to... Show more content on

It may explain why he mentions in Galatians 6.11, that he wrote in large letters . It was perhaps a
reference used to prove that he wrote the letter and that it was not forged. Speculation points to a
physical ailment such as bad eyesight but that seems unlikely considering other scripture. PAUL
S BACKGROUND An examination of the Pauline epistles should begin with an examination of
the author. Saul of Tarsus was a Jewish official a Pharisee. Saul was a persecutor of Christians
and an eyewitness to the stoning of Steven. And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the
witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man s feet, whose name was Saul. (Acts 7.58 King
James Version) He had a vision on the road to Damascus and was blinded. God sent Ananias to
heal Saul of his affliction. God also sent Paul a vision of Ananias to let him know that he would
be healed. Paul did not learn the Gospel from other men. He received his knowledge directly from
Jesus.Paul is developing and spreading the doctrine of the Church in his letters. The body of Christ
(the Church) is being revealed in his letters to the seven churches. Paul s revelations about the
Church concerned its heavenly calling, promise and destiny. The administration and organization
of the Church was revealed to us through the apostle Paul. ROMANS The Book of Romans was

Physiology Of Exercise And Human Performance

Lab # 3 Predicting Maximal Oxygen Uptake
30 October 2014
KINE 3153: Physiology of Exercise and Human Performance
Dr. Murat Karabulat
INTRODUCTION: The energy to perform exercise for periods of more than 10 minutes comes
mainly from aerobic metabolism (1). VO2max is a reproducible measure of an individual s
cardiovascular system s ability to deliver the required oxygenated blood to a large muscle mass
involved in exercise (1). The determination of an individual s VO2max is commonly used to assess
levels of physical fitness, as well as develop and monitor training programs for athletes. The
submaximal tests have an error of plus or minus 10% which makes them invalid for the purpose
of long term training studies. For clinical screening purposes the use of submaximal prediction
tests is a viable option. There are three main advantages to using submaximal testing. Submaximal
testing does not take and individual to his or her maximal limits, which greatly reduces the chance
of a cardiovascular accident, especially in older subjects. In addition expensive laboratory
equipment is not needed, and more subjects can be screened in a given period of time.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this laboratory #3 it to acquaint the class with different methods to
estimate VO2max, and to see how these predictions compare to VO2max values acquired during
Lab #2. Laboratory #2 was canceled due to inoperative equipment, so those comparisons cannot be
made.

Two Major Themes In Poetic Realism
Isolation and fatalism are two major themes in this film. the main characters are trapped and
they try hard to escape the current situations. The army deserter heading for the port of Le
Havre, Jean is on the run from a society run by a criminal underworld. His solitary figure
associates with the fog in the opening shot of the film. What he faces was fatal since he had no
choices. He could only run away; otherwise, his life would be in danger. A 17 year old abused
girl, Nelly who is trapped by her godfather, Zabel tries to run away from him. In the beginning of
the film, Jean and Nelly are used to be isolated by the society. Both are not connected with other

Zabel is a respectable businessman who loves religious music and the finer. However, there is a
shameful and jealous heart hides in his body that he lusts for his goddaughter Nelly. This is a
rather immoral theme shown in Quai des brumes. Moreover, Poetic Realism films focus on
working class characters and the theme of doomed love, which is the blending of comedy and
tragedy. Compared to Naturalism, poetic realism had a more romantic, idealistic, mysterious
character.(Linda Nochlin, Realism) It shows that the characters in Poetic Realism are usually
marginal characters in the society. Jean undoubtedly represents the marginal characters in the
society. He carries a national identity, which is the army in 1930s and represents the lower class
in the society. When he meets the beautiful girl, Nelly, these two fall in love immediately and
passionately.Nelly says. They have real happiness and the love is shared, but in this film s bleak
world it is inevitably going to be dearly bought. Therefore, their love is romantic but at the same
time, it is also a tragic. The only way Jean can be with Nelly is if he deals with the corrupt men
that are causing troubles for her. Unfortunately, it turns out to be a tragic end for the

Supply And Demand For Real Estate
INTRODUCTION
Within the property industry, the ever changing nature of the real estate market is affecting supply
and demand for real estate. As a result, a key issue stemming from reducing demand is increasing
office vacancy in Brisbane s central business district which reached a high of 15.6% in January
2015, according to the Property Council of Australia (2015). Current literature suggests that the lack
of demand can be attributed to negative net absorption by the government and resources sectors,
office over supply, low business confidence and high unemployment rates (Property Council of

owners and changing how the office investment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis of Rumble Fish by S.E. Hinton Essay
Analysis of Rumble Fish by S.E. Hinton
Rumble Fish is a great book for teens to read. It is a book about younger teens joining gangs. The
main character in the book is Rusty James who is a high school boy that is in a gang and likes to
get into fights. Also there is a guy named the Motorcycle Boy who is Rusty s idol. Some minor
characters in the book include Steve who is the best friend of Rusty James, another character is
Smokey who is another good friend of Rusty James, also Biff who wanted to beat up Rusty James
because they are in different gangs, and always are looking to fight each other.

Bad things can happen to you if you don t have a knife in certain situations in his neighborhood.
For example, Rusty was in a fight with Biff and Biff had a knife but Rusty didn t have a knife.
Nobody in his gang had a knife, so Rusty lost. Then he met the Motorcycle Boy and everything
was back to normal until the big fight. Rusty got stabbed with the knife, and knocked out.
Usually the Motorcycle Boy would help him out, but instead he wasn t there, nowhere to be
seen. Rusty was put in the hospital for his stab wound. The main conflict in the story is Rusty
James, and his fighting all of the time. It isn t good for him or his reputation. Rusty usually wins
and someone always is looking to beat him at his own game, which is fighting, Rusty s specialty.
The conflict is resolved when Rusty James is in a fight against another greaser and the
Motorcycle Boy isn t there to save Rusty. After all of this happens, everyone starts making fun of
Rusty. The mysterious thing is that the Motorcycle Boy is never seen again. Now Rusty has no
friend s what so ever. And his gang lifestyle did not pay off at all. Instead of being cool he turned
out to be the fool in the story.
I would recommend this book to any teen. It is a great sequal to the Outsiders and has a lot of
action in it. It has the excitement of gangs but there is also a lesson to be learned in the story as
well. It does not set a good example for kids but it is exciting to read about. Over all I

Apple cider vinegar slows the growth of cancer cells and possibly even kills cancer cells. The
results of studies have been somewhat contradictory on this subject but many possibilities are

Others have proposed the pectin found in apples as well as polyphenols as possible anti cancer
ingredients. The true source is still a mystery but preliminary evidence has shown that apple cider
vinegar is useful in the prevention of some forms of cancer.

The Psychology Of Sexual Orientations
The Psychology of Sexual Orientations Throughout the history of humans, people have been having
sex. It s obviously necessary for the continuation of humans as a species. But it definitely hasn t
been for just reproductive purposes. People have been engaging in same gender sex for probably as
long as humans have been around. However, the terms we think of today when we think of
different sexual orientations didn t get coined until the 19th and 20th centuries. And with these
terms came huge stigma that still exists today. There are many different sexual orientations that
people identify as (including heterosexuality, homosexuality, bisexuality, as well as many others);
the orientations that do not coincide with what people viewed as normal were originally given
classification as mental disorders.
The most common sexual orientation, regardless of culture, is heterosexuality. This is defined as a
sexual orientation in which an individual is generally sexually attracted to members of the opposite
sex. A Centers for Disease Control national survey reported that the percentage of Americans who
identify themselves as heterosexual was 90 percent for men and women (King, 2011, p. 363). This
orientation is also considered by many people, cultures and religion throughout history and into the
present as being the normal and natural orientation, with the idea that any deviation from
heterosexuality is unnatural, a choice, and a thing that needs to be corrected. This belief,

According to CDC and EMA statistic the annual death toll due to multi drug resistant bacterial

Common names that are associated with the first investigation into the phenomenon of phages
are Frederick Twort, a medically trained bacteriologist from England, and Felix d Herelle, a
French Canadian microbiologist. The history of phage discovery and research is so complicated
that the scientific world has simply accepted referring to the discovery as the Twort d Herelle

phage infection in 1915. However, Abedon states that it was d Herelle who identified the source of
this phenomenon and coined the term bacteriophage . D Herelle was also the first to use phages

phages where intended, most of d Herelle s work was scrutinized throughout the scientific

Treatments throughout the world had mixed success from the very beginning. In one trial of phage

Characteristics Of White Collar Criminals
White Collar criminals are not typically seen in the same light as regular Street criminals. When
we step back and take a look at what the characteristics are of a white collar criminal, we then can
see these criminals from a different point of view. The characteristics of a white collar criminal
are very different from each individual. The criminals committing these crimes also have to put
in more effort into planning and organizing their criminal offenses. Regardless of white collar
criminals are not typically seen in the same light as our regular Street criminals, their offenses
are just as serious. White collar crimes typically victimized more organizations than they do a
single person. These crimes also have large amounts of offenders and can go on for years, versus
that of the crimes that street criminals commit. White Collar criminals have shown to be
individuals who are typically those who are key team players within their company and choose
to take advantage of their company and the company s resources. It has been shown that most
white collar criminals are older, white males between the ages of 41 and 50. These offenders
were more likely to have jobs, who don t commit as many offenses as typical Street criminals and
tend to start their criminal escapades later in their lives. These crimes are also more likely to be on

Galloway s The Cellist of Sarajevo. Galloway clearly explores identity through the three main

The answer is a resounding no. The choices people make over the span of their life, the values,
morals, and beliefs they hold shape their identity. Though an event like the siege may
temporarily disrupt an individual, causing them to stray from their path and for a period of
time, make decisions they would not usually make, there will always be hope. Despite the
conflicts that the siege brings, the characters all maintain a shred of hope and with it a shred
their personality before the siege, and after they fully regain hope, symbolized by the music of
the Cellist, they all revert back to the people they once were. The deviations in behavior, beliefs,
and values all occur due to the initial shock of the siege, however even such a tragedy is not
enough to uproot Alisa, Kenan, and Dragan s identities. When one strays from their path,
whether it be from fear, anger, or anguish, they will always be hope in the back of their mind.
People will always adapt, at some point they will come to terms with reality, and their quietly
whispering hope will scream. Eventually, like the main characters in the novel, people will regain

Khmer Rouge s interpretation of Leninist/Marxist/Maoist communist model made them believe
that they could mold a classless society by eliminating all the social classes apart from peasants
who are poor. The elimination led to annihilation of all careers marked by the intellectuals and

more than 500,000 people died in the killing fields and more than a million died from starvation
due to only eating 200 calories of rice each day. Those that complained about their labor or tasks

the people who died are filled up in mass graves all over the country. Pol Pot seized control of
Cambodia and renaming the country Democratic Kampuchea. Pol Pot governed a huge part of the

Crocodiles And Alligators Similarities
Crocodiles and Alligators are often confused with because of the physical similarities. When an
average person encounters a crocodile or alligator, it is most probable that they guess which
animal it is and get it wrong. However, the only thing in common is the body structure. Not all of
the similarities have to do with the similar physical shape of the crocodilesand alligators. In fact, the
similarities go beyond. On the other hand, the differences deal with the most detailed dissimilarities
between the crocodiles and alligators body.
One of many similarities crocodiles and alligators have is that these animals are reptiles.
Crocodiles and alligators belong to the same subfamily so it is likely for them to have the same
physical shape. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, there is a big difference when it comes to a crocodiles and alligators snout. Alligators
have a U shaped snout with a wider head and sharp teeth that hide when the mouth is closed. In
contrast to alligators, a crocodile have a V shaped snout with a thinner head and have a toothy
grin when the mouth is closed. Additionally the alligators upper jaw is more located more
forwards than the crocodiles, this also affects the how the teeth are structured. Although both of
these animals teeth are strong, the crocodiles have a more defined strength because it can
destroy a turtles shell faster than an alligator. Furthermore, crocodiles have lingual glands that
make salt water tolerable. Another major difference is the capacity of length between the two
reptiles. Crocodiles tend to grow 5. 8 meters compared to an 4.3 alligator. Moreover, female
crocodiles lay their eggs in mud or sand whereas the female alligators lay eggs on mounds near
water. Another difference between alligators and crocodiles are the amount of time it takes to take
care of the newborns. Alligators usually stay a few months or 1 year until the babies are strong
enough to fend for themselves unlike crocodiles that stay with the babies 2

Charles Darrow Monopoly
Monopoly Monopoly has been around for 80 years and was created by a man names Charles
Darrow in 1933. Even though it became a success it took a while, Darrow tried to sell monopoly
to parker brothers, but it was rejected for 52 fundamental errors . Darrow decided to go ahead and
start selling the Game in local department stores. After his success Parker brothers reconsidered and
negotiated the rights to market the game. The game has become such a huge hit that is published
in 47 languages and sold in 114 countries, and fans gather every few years to compete in a world
championship tournament. In the next few paragraphs I am going to teach you how to play this
familyfavorite game since 1935. Games of monopoly have been played in peculiar... Show more

Place your token in the corner marked GO, then throw the dice, the number that you get is the
amount of spaces that you move. After the first player is done with their turn, the turn passes to
the person to the left of them. When you land on a property space you have the option to buy the
property, pay rent, or pay taxes. If you land on a chance or community chest space, you have to
draw a card. If you throw doubles you take your turn as you normally would and then you get
another turn, but if you throw doubles three times in a row you have to immediately go to jail.
When a player passes go they collect $200 from the bank, it doesn t matter if you roll the dice
and pass it or if you draw a chance or community chest card that tells you to pass it. You can only
collect $200 once each time around the board. The only exception to collect again after you pass
GO in one turn is if you land on a community chest or a chance and it tells you to pass go again,
then you collect for both times you have passed. Monopoly is such an in depth game that there is
not a time limit set for it, which is one of the reasons that it originally got rejected by Parker
Brothers. They wanted Darrow to meet the 45 minute game rule. Parker also thought that the game
should have a specific end, a goal to reach and in monopoly the players just keep going round and
round the board. The only object of the game is to bankrupt the other

Building And Managing Effective Virtual Teams
Technology Paper One: Building and Managing Effective Virtual Teams
Robert Jones, Robert Oyung, and Lise Pace, authors of Working Virtually: Challenges of Virtual
Teams (2005) state:
Virtual teams and teams in general are characterized by the fact that each member of the team is
dependent upon one or more other members in order to accomplish the overall goal... The single
most critical component that makes teamwork possible is effective communication. (p. xvii xviii)
Notwithstanding the goal to succeed in a given project, task, scope, product, or the like, building
and managing effective teams becomes deeply more complex when physical adjacency is a
combination of local and remote members or entirely remote. Increasingly so, businesses ... Show

(Tapscott Williams, 2008, p. 33).
Foremost, to create and develop dynamic team communication, trust must be established. Depth
of relationships amongst a team, even with very poor technology to support an effort, has the
ability to succeed. Teamwork is more than a series of transactions. Teamwork is a series of
engagements... If you are able to establish trust as a team member, leader, or manager, you will be
able to gain consensus, agreement, and the ability to influence, (Jones, Oyung, Pace, 2005, p. 26
27). Keith Ferrazzi, author of Getting Virtual Teams Right (2014) in the Harvard Business Review,
states:
Trust starts with respect and empathy... leaders should encourage team members to describe their
backgrounds, the value they hope to add to the group, and the way they prefer to work. This allows
colleagues to form mental images of one another when they re later communicating by e mail,
phone, or text message. Remember too that relationship building should be an ongoing process.
Realities are such that virtual teams come with exceedingly broader diverse backgrounds in
culture, education, life experiences, and personalities. Singularly each one of these facets brings a
beauty to innovation and creative possibilities. Well rounded, quality decisions is also viable.
However, wide range of diversity can also be challenging for precisely the same reasons. By
ensuring trust is the foundation

The key to experience is point of view. It is the subjective character of point of view that
confounds understanding of the objective experience. Lets say there is a group of individuals
observing a painting. The painting has a finite existence that prompts objective characteristics. It is
the subjective nature of the different points of view within the group that results in altered
experiences and perceptions of the painting. While one individual sees a violent message portrayed
through the brush strokes and vivid colors, another individual may interpret the piece as a depiction
of intense happiness and excitement despite the finite factors of the painting. How is this so? Block

This rather abstract notion of phenomenal consciousness is simplified to the term P consciousness .
P consciousness is phenomenal experience. Everything that P consciousness can be is, in turn,
everything that experience can be. It is the matter of when we utilize our senses (see, hear, smell,
etc.) to gain information from the environment, as well as when an individual experiences internal
reflection through sensations, thoughts, or emotions. All of these actions are continuously
occurring with or without the intention of doing so. P consciousness is always representational of
the information derived from the event being experienced. Contrarily, Access Consciousness is
introduced as the mode of consciousness in which representation, unlike P consciousness, is poised
for control of speech, reasoning, and action (pg. 208 Block) . It is this mode of consciousness
whose content can be broadcasted to communicate one s inner events, unlike the phenomenal
qualities of P consciousness. The distinguishing factor between these two modes of consciousness
is the element of qualia. P consciousness is phenomenal while A consciousness is representational;
however, given that P consciousness can also be representational, P consciousness can overlap in
the A consciousness realm during reasoning or the execution of actions. A consciousness is a

Since the act of invading was illegitimate then the consequences that follow that are illegitimate as
well. The eight point is that all French territory should be freed and the invaded portions restored.
Since the restoration of the French Territory it could be said that the invasion of northern France

was not a violation of international law so there was a dispute of Belgium following the case. The
ninth point is the readjustment of the frontiers of Italy. This distinguished the frontier between
Austria Hungary and Italy to be adjusted. The tenth point is the people of Austria Hungary should

Salomon v A Salomon Co Ltd From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Redirected from Broderip
v Salomon) Salomon v A Salomon Co Ltd [1897] AC 22 is a landmark1 UK company law case.
The effect of the Lords unanimous 2 ruling was to uphold 3firmly the doctrine4 of corporate
personality, as set out in the Companies Act 1862, so that creditors of an insolvent company could
not sue the company s shareholders to pay up outstanding debts. Facts[edit] MrAron Salomon made
leather boots and shoes in a large Whitechapel High Street establishment. His sons wanted to

The company in this case has been regarded by Vaughan Williams J. as the agent of Aron
Salomon. I should rather liken the company to a trustee for him a trustee improperly 20 brought
into existence by him to enable him to do what the statute prohibits. It is manifest 21 that the
other members of the company have practically no interest in it, and their names have merely
been used by Mr.Aron Salomon to enable him to form a company, and to use its name in order
to screen himself from liability. This view of the case is quite consistent with In re George
Newman Co.[4] In a strict legal sense the business may have to be regarded as the business of
the company; but if any jury were asked, Whose business was it? they would say Aron Salomon
s, and they would be right, if they meant that the beneficial interest in the business was his. I do
not go so far as to say that the creditors of the company could sue him. In my opinion, they can
only reach him through the company. Moreover, Mr.Aron Salomon s liability to indemnify the
company in this case is, in my view, the legal consequence of the formation of the company in
order to attain a result not permitted by law. The liability does not arise simply from the fact that
he holds nearly all the shares in the company. A man may do that and yet be under no such
liability as Mr.Aron Salomon has come under. His liability rests on the purpose for which he
formed the company, on the way he formed it, and on

Due to the fact that I was fortunate enough to be able to experience and have a glimpse of what Thanksgiving looks like in America. Before then, what I knew about Thanksgiving were all from the movies, dramas or books that I had watched and read. I knew that Thanksgivingis an important holiday for families and friends to gather together, to celebrate, to feast and to enjoy staying with one another. It is just similar to one of the Chinese traditional festivals, Mid Autumn Festival. The Full moon symbolizes family reunion in Chinese tradition, so at that time, families will gather together to enjoy the full moon and the traditional type of bakery, mooncakes.... • 5. Phoebe Bridgers Stranger In The Alps Analysis Phoebe Bridgers debut album, Stranger in the Alps brings listeners in touch with their innermost feelings through hauntingly beautiful melodies and dark, heartbreaking lyrics. Inspired by artists (now friends) such as Conor Oberst and Julien Baker, this L.A. native s blend of folk, pop, and rock tells stories of relationships, loneliness, and the impact of both on our interactions with ourselves and others. She has gotten the attention of songwriters like Ryan Adams, Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast, and Hayley Williams of Paramore. Adams even stated that the feelings he gets listening to Bridgers are the same as when he listens to Bob Dylan. Is there any higher praise than a Dylan comparison? The opening track, Smoke Signals , is filled... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The track deals with the aftermath of a death of a friend and the pain that comes with it. With such a personal story like this, an intimate connection between the singer and audience is developed. The lines, Wishing I was someone else/ Feeling sorry for myself/ And I remembered someone s kid is dead hit you with with reality and are possibly the most powerful on the whole record. Some of the tracks make you wonder if the twenty two year old singer songwriter is okay and for me it was Killer . The main theme of the song is about the lack of control people have over others and the loneliness felt when feelings are not reciprocated by those we love. Two tracks on the album contain a more upbeat instrumental sound compared to the rest. The faster tempo and electric guitar heard in Motion Sickness and the duet with Conor Oberst in Would You Rather are probably the most cheerfully arranged on the record and stand out in contrast to the slower paced piano ballad, guitar plucking, and acoustic songs like Georgia , Demi Moore , and Scott Street . The authenticity in Stranger in the Alps proves Bridgers integrity as a songwriter. Her somber lyrics combined with beautiful melodies truly make this record stand out, especially as a debut. This darker folk rooted album is just in time for the depressing months of fall and winter, so stock up on tissues. I m looking forward to see what Phoebe Bridgers comes out with next, but in the meantime you can catch her opening for War On Drugs this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Pros And Cons Of Violent Video Games Position/Argumentative Essay Should teens be able to buy violent video games? No, teens should not be able to purchase video games that contain violent content. Violent video games in a person s early years could result in much, much worse things later on in life. Studies show that violent video games could result in bullying, criminal activity, or in worse cases, suicide. Games that withhold violent scenes can result in bullying. Children will see what they are doing in their game, and think that it would be acceptable to do that type of thing in the real world. They may not be going as far as shooting someone, but they can turn that violence into a smaller aspect of hitting or kicking one of their fellow classmates at school. The... • 7. Realism And Impressionism Realism and Impressionism are two noteworthy periods in history of art during which distinctive types of art including painting, architecture, music, essentially enhanced, mirroring the ideologies and artistic philosophies during that time. Throughout the movement of Realism in the 19th century, it had become common for Parisians to make outings to the suburbs along the Seine and, although related scenes had already appeared in illustrations and prints on themes of Parisian leisure, they were unusual as the subject matter for large painting. In general terms of suburban leisure, Courbet s was first of what became a highly popular topic for painting, especially among the Impressionists, from Г‰douard Manet DГ©jeuner sur l herbe and Claude Monet On the bank of the Seine to George Seurat s A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte . This essay compares and contrasts these two art periods regarding the major works created by outstanding artists. In such manner, the work Young ladies on the banks of the Seine , created by Gustave Courbet has been compared with Г‰douard Manet s painting Luncheon on the grass . Courbet s painting depicts two young Parisiennes resting during the summer heat in a flowery spot under overhanging trees on the shady banks of the Seine. The piece exhibited for the first time in Paris in 1857 provoked a scandal caused mainly by the Courbet s choice of subject. • 8. Bad Atonement Theology And Broken Justice Systems The Broken Cross; Bad Atonement Theology and Broken Justice Systems Introduction As we move through Holy Week, the journey of Lent leads Christians to not simply commemorate Jesus suffering on the cross, but engage the paschal event on every level of our experiences. For me, this included questioning the impact of the execution which stands so central to Christianity. In her book The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness, Michelle Alexander describes how the mass incarceration of black Americans has been steadily undermining any progress made by the civil rights movement. She argues that even though Jim Crow laws are no longer written, the plethora of young people of color arrested remain marginalized by a broken justice system. The United States represents about 4.4% of the world s population, it houses around 22 % of the world s prisoners, an overwhelming majority of whom are young, poor, and black. Recently, Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam signed a bill to allow the use of the electric chair in executions when the drugs for lethal injections are not available. How has this frighteningly oppressive system become normative justice for America? Does focusing on the crucifixion as the foundation of Christian transition per dispose modern Christians to be unconcerned with the death penalty as a fixture of our justice system? • 10. Comparing Two Waves Research Paper The term waves can have an infinite amount of meanings. It can refer to a girl s hair, the beach and most importantly a physics theme. In a physics classroom, a wave is a disturbance that carries energy from one point to another. The types of waves are endless from electromagnetic, sound, magnetic, longitudinal and transverse just to name a few. The later two are key in class as they are the most common types of waves and not only are they used to teach a concept but are also used in our everyday lives. A key difference between a longitudinal and a transverse waveis the way they transport energy. While a transverse wave does not require a medium to pass on energy a longitudinal on the other hand must have a medium for it to pass down energy. Each of these waves have a group of properties and display a certain behavior that makes them distinguishable. For example in a longitudinal wave the particles move left and right making other particles oscillate. Meanwhile in a transverse wave the particles move up and down. A set of vocabulary words are attached to each wave and also helps distinguish them in a physics problem and when presented with an image. In a longitudinal ... In the novel Victorian England is described through vivid scenes and the expected morals of society are presented through role models such as the lawyer (Mr. Utterson). The novel makes numerous references to, and uses aspects of the Victorian society within its plot. Reputation and background more than financial status determined the acceptance of an individual into a society. Appearance was also a factor upon which people were judged as in the novel the characters turn out to be as they are first described. People back then were quite prejudiced towards any race that was not Christian. They would have hated Jews. When Shylock would come onto the stage, the audience would have just booed him back off. The Christians had their reasons for hating the Jews. The fact that they supposedly killed Jesus still angers many people today. Christians were resentful of their wealth. On the other hand the Elizabethan audience members might go up on stage and give him a pat on the back. When the court scene begins, Shylock is not anywhere to be seen nor is Antonio, the supposed victim of his. The duke is there who is supposed to be the master of ceremonies. One thing that you should know is that Antonio and the Duke are good friends, which puts Shylock in a bad position right away as the man who decides his fate is biased towards Antonio, meaning that he is in favour of helping out Antonio. The Duke says to Antonio, I m Sorry for Thee. You can see that Shylock will have his work cut out for him. The court rooms are a place of justice, the duke should not even think to be biased. They describe Shylock as, stony, cold and inhuman. They say that he is incapable of pity. He is at the bottom of the chain of beings, below animals. You can see that Shylock is being criticised in his absence. The Christians who are in the court at the moment refer to him as The Jew. He is nameless to these people. VO2max is a reproducible measure of an individual s cardiovascular system s ability to deliver the required oxygenated blood to a large muscle mass involved in exercise (1). The determination of an individual s VO2max is commonly used to assess levels of physical fitness, as well as develop and monitor training programs for athletes. The submaximal tests have an error of plus or minus 10% which makes them invalid for the purpose of long term training studies. For clinical screening purposes the use of submaximal prediction tests is a viable option. There are three main advantages to using submaximal testing. Submaximal testing does not take and individual to his or her maximal limits, which greatly reduces the chance of a cardiovascular accident, especially in older subjects. In addition expensive laboratory equipment is not needed, and more subjects can be screened in a given period of time. On the other hand, the differences deal with the most detailed dissimilarities between the crocodiles and alligators body. Even though it became a success it took a while, Darrow tried to sell monopoly to parker brothers, but it was rejected for 52 fundamental errors . Darrow decided to go ahead and start selling the Game in local department stores. After his success Parker brothers reconsidered and negotiated the rights to market the game. The game has become such a huge hit that is published in 47 languages and sold in 114 countries, and fans gather every few years to compete in a world championship tournament. Place your token in the corner marked GO, then throw the dice, the number that you get is the amount of spaces that you move. After the first player is done with their turn, the turn passes to the person to the left of them. When you land on a property space you have the option to buy the property, pay rent, or pay taxes. If you land on a chance or community chest space, you have to draw a card. If you throw doubles you take your turn as you normally would and then you get another turn, but if you throw doubles three times in a row you have to immediately go to jail. When a player passes go they collect $200 from the bank, it doesn t matter if you roll the dice and pass it or if you draw a chance or community chest card that tells you to pass it. You can only collect $200 once each time around the board. The only exception to collect again after you pass GO in one turn is if you land on a community chest or a chance and it tells you to pass go again, then you collect for both times you have passed. Monopoly is such an in depth game that there is not a time limit set for it, which is one of the reasons that it originally got rejected by Parker Brothers. They wanted Darrow to meet the 45 minute game rule. Parker also thought that the game should have a specific end, a goal to reach and in monopoly the players just keep going round and round the board. Teamwork is a series of engagements... If you are able to establish trust as a team member, leader, or manager, you will be able to gain consensus, agreement, and the ability to influence, (Jones, Oyung, Pace, 2005, p. 26 27). This rather abstract notion of phenomenal consciousness is simplified to the term P consciousness . P consciousness is phenomenal experience. Everything that P consciousness can be is, in turn, everything that experience can be. I should rather liken the company to a trustee for him a trustee improperly 20 brought into existence by him to enable him to do what the statute prohibits. It is manifest 21 that the other members of the company have practically no interest in it, and their names have merely been used by Mr.Aron Salomon to enable him to form a company, and to use its name in order to screen himself from liability. This view of the case is quite consistent with In re George Newman Co.[4] In a strict legal sense the business may have to be regarded as the business of the company; but if any jury were asked, Whose business was it? they would say Aron Salomon s, and they would be right, if they meant that the beneficial interest in the business was his. I do not go so far as to say that the creditors of the company could sue him. In my opinion, they can only reach him through the company. Moreover, Mr.Aron Salomon s liability to indemnify the company in this case is, in my view, the legal consequence of the formation of the company in order to attain a result not permitted by law. The liability does not arise simply from the fact that he holds nearly all the shares in the company. A man may do that and yet be under no such liability as Mr.Aron Salomon has come under.
