Edwards Syndrome, also known as Trisomy 18, is a genetic disorder caused by the presence of an extra chromosome 18. It is the second most common autosomal trisomy after Down syndrome. Individuals with Edwards Syndrome often have heart and kidney abnormalities as well as other organ disorders. They typically have low chances of survival, with most infants dying before or shortly after birth from complications. Support groups are available for families affected by Edwards Syndrome.
