Over twenty five years of progressive work experience in the
Information Technology/Information Management (IT/IM) areas of server
operations, desktop support and Information Security and Assurance.
Over 19 year’s experience with Naval IT/IM programs and 20 years of
Active Duty Military experience in various military platforms. I
played a major role for the Ordnance Testing and Evaluation Division
labs (OT&E) located at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division in
China Lake, CA. My duties include ensuring that all laboratory
computing systems are configured to meet both laboratory operation
requirements and IA compliance and ensure compliance and implement
policies, principles, infrastructures, and architectures which
establish the framework for management of all the IT programs.
Responsible for managing all technical IA requirements and technical
IA strategies for labs under the SA's cognizance for the representative
test lab(s) while helping each lab configure the technical environment
so mission goals are met while adhering to IA compliance. Report the
status of the IA for the Ordnance Testing and Evaluation Division
laboratories to IT/IA managers. Responsible for development and
maintenance of accreditation and certification support documentation
package(s). Responsible for submitting IT Approvals for the purchase of
all necessary IT equipment, development and approval of the IT Spend
Plan for the division.
Participate in the security and incident reporting program in
accordance with the IA Division policy. Maintain, update and document
the IA of the information system to include software, hardware, and
warning banners to protect the integrity of the Government systems.
Respond to IA Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs), IA Vulnerability Bulletins
(IAVBs), and other vulnerability notifications. Inform the IT/IA
manager of security anomalies or integrity loopholes within the
division. Ensure all users have the requisite security clearances,
authorization, and knowledge for required data access. In accordance
with the IA Division, ensure IA for security-relevant information
system software and hardware, to include information system warning
banners, is maintained and documented. Apply appropriate Security
Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and periodically re-verify
compliance. Ensure the information systems or network is used and
administered securely. Responsible for ensuring the system is operated,
maintained, and disposed of with periodic reviews in accordance with
internal security policies and practices outlined in the System
Security Accreditation Authorization (SSAA).
Responsible for confirming software licenses and documentation are
maintained by the configuration management office, and notify the IAM
when changes occur that might affect accreditation and certification.
Maintain and update all software which is registered in DATAMS and lab
associated.
Operate and maintain all applications residing on OT&E resources or
customer resources to ensure the accessibility of all applications.
Utilize remote/automated patching and vulnerability remediation methods
where appropriate. Install equipment, software and maintain information
systems and networks, to include hardware and software. Monitor
information system performance and system recovery processes to ensure
security features and procedures are properly restored. Install newly
developed application, customer-developed applications, and mandated
applications being implemented.
Required to perform systems administration/analysis to install,
maintain, test, design and configure hardware and software for networks
to transmit and share data within the division boundaries.
Responsibilities also included installing, updating, repairing,
building and configuring Windows 2000/XP/7 workstations/2008 servers to
properly interface within existing infrastructure. Perform analysis,
research and recommend cost effective solutions to accomplish customer
objectives. Establish audit trails (system logs) and conduct reviews
periodically (weekly or daily), and ensure audit records are archived
for future reference as directed. Attend required technical training to
maintain certification and operation systems and security. Administer
user identification and authentication mechanism(s) of the information
system or network. Provide backup of system/user data. Provide
technical support to customers who need advice, assistance, and
