Technology
In general technology refers to the application of scientific laws and
principles for the purpose of making daily life easy and comfortable
is technology.
With the help of these applications, we make different machines
and devices which accelerate and systematize our daily life.
Therefore, Technology refers to two aspects namely theoretical,
based on ideas and practical based on putting those ideas into
practice.
8. 8
Technology In Education Technology Of Education
It refers to the use of
technological tools, equipment,
materials, machine and media in
the educational process.
It refers to a system to bring
improvement in the total process
of teaching & learning.
Hardware, software, etc are used
for individualized or group
teaching.
In this system we use theories of
teaching, learning, psychology,
child development, micro-
teaching, etc.
9. 9
NO TECH: means the technology is
not used at all.
LOW TECH: technology is used at a
minimum standards.
MID TECH: deals with the battery to
some extent. The 3D models can be
an example.
HIGH TECH: deals with the battery
& a processors. The Computers,
Laptops, Smart Phones, etc.
Battery + Software = HIGH TECH
INTRODUCTION TO
EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY
13. Meaning of Educational Technology
» Educational Technology is an
umbrella term.
» It means the use of
technological tools, equipment,
materials, machine media and
technical advancement in a
well integrated manner.
» It is combined for
maximizing the learning
experiences of the
students at various levels
in formal, informal and
non- formal settings.
13
15. “Educational Technology is the Systematic
Application of Scientific Knowledge about Teaching
Learning Process and Conditions of Learning to
Improve the Efficiency of Teaching and Learning.”
- Leith, 1967
15
16. “Educational Technology is defined as the Application of
Laws and Recent Discoveries of Science and Technology
to the Process of Education.”
- Kulkarni, 1969

18. 18
Instructional technology is concerned with determining and
providing appropriate stimuli to the learner to produce a
certain type of responses for making learning more effective.
19. 19
•Instructional technology is a subset of
Educational Technology.
•Education as a system
involves Instruction.
•The Teacher gives Instructions in the Classroom to Allow
Learners to fulfill all Attained & Planned Instructional
Objectives depending on the Planned Objectives Teacher
will use Appropriate Educational Technology.
21. 21
As defined by Momurin (1970 ), Instructional technology is a systematic way
of designing, carrying out and evaluating the total process of learning and
teaching in terms of human learning and communication, and employing a
combination of human and non-human resources to bring about more
effective instruction.
22. 22
• In brief we can say the term "Instruction" refers to systematically organized programme designed to
produce certain knowledge, skill, understanding, attitude, and behaviour patterns among learners.
• The term "Technology" refers to systematic application of scientific or other organized knowledge to
practical tasks.
• So, a technology of Instruction is a particular systematic arrangement of teaching learning events designed to put the
knowledge into practice in a predictable effective manner so as to attain specific objectives.
24. Nature of Educational Technology
Educational Technology is the applications
of scientific principles to education.
Educational Technology is the
development of methods and techniques
for effective teaching-learning.
Educational Technology is not confined to
the use of electronic media in Education. It
includes systems approach also.
Educational Technology involves
total teaching and learning process:
input, output and process aspects of
education.
Educational Technology provides
technical guidance and solution to
the educational problems.
It helps in effective communication
between teacher and students.
Educational Technology speed up the
process of learning.
Educational Technology is very
effective in large classroom
management by using projector,
microphone, speaker etc.
Educational Technology can train
large masses with the help of media.

Memorize the Concept
Helps the Teacher to Save the
Time
Helps in Development of
Quality Education
Helps in Development of
Curriculum
Helps in Evaluation &
Assessment
28. General Objectives of Educational Technology
» Identifying educational
needs of the community.
» Determining the aims of
education.
» Developing a suitable
curriculum.
» Developing certain models
to improve the process of
teaching and learning.
» Identifying the human and non-human resources.
» Developing the appropriate aids and equipment to meet the
educational needs.
» Identifying the major obstacles in the educational environment
and the ways and means to tackle those.
» Suggesting remedies to overcome the above traced out obstacles.
» Managing the whole system of education including planning,
implementation and the evaluation phases.
28
29. » Identifying the educational needs and
analyzing the characteristics of the pupils.
» Determining the class-room objectives in
behavioural terms.
» Analysing the contents of instructions and
organize them sequentially.
» Identifying the available and necessary
teaching-learning materials and resources.
» Planning the suitable teaching strategies.
» Utilizing the man-material resources for achieving
specific classroom objectives.
» Evaluating class-room teaching in terms of students'
performance.
» Providing feedback to the teacher and the students for
betterment of teaching learning process.
29
Specific Objectives of Educational Technology
30. 1. Transmission of Information.
2. Serving as role model.
3. Assisting the practice of
specific skills.
4. Contribution to the provision
of feedback.
Main Objectives of Educational Technology:
1. To help to improve the environment required for the teaching
learning process.
2. To make the class-room teaching-learning more effective.
3. To modify the behaviour of the teacher and the learner.
4. To improve and update the methods of teaching and learning.
30
Regarding objectives of Educational Technology,
Hilliard Joson has given the following objectives :
32. Significance of Educational &

35. Educational & Instructional Technology will help the teacher and students to make the
concept easier, simple and in a concrete manner with the use of technologies available in
and around the universe. Hence, it is vital to know and to perform the teaching learning
process with the help of Educational & Instructional Technology.
