This document provides instructions for a lesson on film music. Students will analyze how music creates mood and atmosphere in films. They will then work in pairs to compose music to match different sections of a film clip, starting with a fall sequence. •Think of 2 typical sequences in a film and
describe what the music might be like
(e.g. a tense, scary scene or a happy, joyful
scene)

short clip from the end of the film ‘Antz’
Today – create and record into cubase the
sounds/music for the ‘Fall’ section near the
beginning of the clip

4. Pair practical task hints
• Make sure you have at least 3 different layers
of sound (at least 3 tracks)
• Make sure you listen back to your music and
check the timing of certain parts (especially the
‘splash’)
