Educate365 Engaging Members With Video: How to Recruit, Retain and Refresh Your Members in the Age of YouTube

Hi – Thanks for the great welcome - Today we have about 60 minutes to spend together talking about video and what you need to know to make it valuable for your members.The format is this: We’re going to go over some examples from associations and other organizations using video to communicate. This may be rehashing what many of you already know, but I want to make sure we are all able to pull from the same context when we talk about using video.I’m going to share 4 ways to make YouTube Part of Your Social Media Marketing.Today we have really about 50 minutes to spend together talking about YouTube and by the end of this webinar I want you to understand how just 60 minutes a week can get any organization on its way to better engaging customers using video.

People are:Playing more gamesWatching TV without commercialsReading newspapers online, if at allEngaging with high school friends and family onlineGrowing accustomed to doing almost anything from their smart phonesWhere are you reaching existing and potential members? E-newsletters? Journals? Facebook? Email?My hope would be that with some strategic thinking, any organization leader would recognize the reach of using video. 1. Make sure that YouTube is part of your social media marketing.When I start talking to a potential client, the first words out of their mouth are always 'Twitter' and 'Facebook.' They'll say, 'We've heard we need to be there. We heard this is a place where we need to be.' I will say to them that for driving traffic and list building and leads for your business, putting content out on YouTube allows you to be discovered or found by people that are out searching for information. And if you're creating video content--rather than hoard it on your own website where really no one is even going to find it--you can put it on YouTube where when it comes to online video destination sites, there are others out there that tend to be looked at as more professional, but YouTube has the vast majority of the market.
  3. So first we need to examine who our members are today. Whether they are executives for businesses or freelancers or entrepreneurs, they will statistically share one commonality. They will rely heavily on their mobile devices to receive information. One look anywhere – restaurants, doctors’ offices, sitting in traffic, taking a walk – and you will see people absorbed in the screens of some device. Smart phones or tablets like the iPad are changing the way we communicate. Social media is so pervasive that it is becoming harder and harder to do business without it in some areas. The Nielsen company in May published their most recent research on mobile connected devices and how and where people are using their smartphones and tablets.It seems users are increasingly making Tablets and Gadgets and all their connected devices as the center of their lives. The  research by Neilsen shows that “The  Living Room" is no linger the center of our Family lives.And I don’t think this is a shock to anyone. What is shocking, however, is how anyone wouldn’t want to find a way to strategically use this insatiable thirst for consuming information and entertainment. And yes, entertainment in information is important and we’ll get back to that, but when we know people are looking at their mobile devices at every second possible, how can we not ask ourselves if we are making our businesses easier to access or more engaging online? How often do you check your smartphone each day?
