2. Ed Tech Odyssey
• At the beginning of the semester EDU 210 students were
presented with the Ed Tech Odyssey game.
• The game was built around a reward system that involved us
answering questions, going to events like the Red Chair
sessions and going to class. Below I have provided a
screenshow from eClass the rewards that we could achieve by
gaining points.

3. My Ed Tech Odyssey Results
Here I provided a screen shot of my personal progress in the Ed Tech Odyssey. In
the beginning I was very excited to be able to have the opportunity to take on
tasks not only in class but also outside of class that would essentially give me
prizes or give me different opportunities when it came to completing the flex
labs. Near the end of the course I began to slack, and did not making going to
the Red Chair sessions a priority. This also was because there were so many
students much further ahead of me, so I ended up not trying as hard.

5. Ed Tech Odyssey: Likes
• Good incentives & prizes.
• The prizes for all levels were good and the technology was good for
future use.
• Made coming to class rewarding.
• Points were given before and after by an efficient scan of our one
cards.
• Answering questions in class was also rewarding.
• Some easy answers, and sharing of opinions gave us easy points.
• Rewarded individuals as well as teams.
• The student with the highest points got the best prize, along with
members of the group with the highest amount of points.
• Motivated me to come to class.
• I would intentionally come early to class, and wait in the long line at
the end just to get my points for the day.

6. Ed Tech Odyssey: Dislikes
• Lack of time to attend Red Chair Sessions.
• I was only able to attend two of the Red Chair sessions because of
my course load this semester. If this was my only class, I would of
have dedicated more time to attending the events for points.
• All members of winning group were given prizes regardless of
their amount of personal points.
• I can’t imagine everyone in the winning group had high amounts of
points, but the whole group was rewarded with a prize in the end.
That makes it so even those who don’t participate as fully as others
receive benefits as well.
• I was not comfortable speaking in class.
• In a classroom of 240 it isn’t easy to be given a microphone and
asked to answer a question. Maybe if we were able to post our
questions on Today’s Meet or Twitter I would have participated
more.

7. Gamification& My Future
Classroom
• I am extremely grateful that I was able to learn more about
the important role that gamification plays within the
classroom. After taking this course, and participating in Ed
Tech Odyssey, I now understand just how important it is that
students are engaged and rewarded for hard work.
Gamification is what gives students the opportunity to control
their end result, and work towards incentives and prizes. I
think this extremely important and will have great value in my
classroom.
