Universal Design for Learning (UDL) moves away from a "one size fits all" approach to education. UDL recognizes that students have a variety of needs and aims to provide multiple means of engagement, representation, and action and expression. It considers individual student demographics and factors when planning instruction. Schools implementing UDL provide accommodations like wheelchair ramps, subtitles, and assistive technology to meet the needs of students with disabilities or other learning challenges. UDL also seeks to appropriately challenge gifted students to reach their full potential.
