The document describes the process of creating a music advertisement using Photoshop. It began with selecting an original photo taken on a dark purple backdrop that conveyed the serious tone of the music. In Photoshop, the model was cut out from the background using the quick selection tool. The color was then adjusted to black and white and the contrast and brightness were altered to give it a shadow-like effect. A gradient background was added and the image was placed on it. To make it look more professional, a duplicate layer was made slightly offset to create a silhouette overlay effect. Text for the album name was added using the Baskerville font in a soft pink color to match the sophisticated tone of the final advertisement piece.

2. This is the original image that I later manipulated for the use of my music advert.
This is shot was taken during a scene I was filming in a studio where I had the option
of using a dark purple backdrop and various lighting equipment. The reason why
this image was perfect for me was because of the serious tone it conveyed through
my model’s facial expression and it further corresponded well with the music video
as the same headpiece seen in the video is also visible on the model here.ORIGINALSHO

3. WHAT NEXT?
After choosing my image, I
then headed over to Adobe
Photoshop to begin creating
my music advert. The first
step was for me to cut out
my model so that the
background was no longer
there. This was done using
the quick selection tool so
the image was now separate.

4. BLACK A N D WHITE
Adjusting the colour of
the cut out image to
create a monochrome
effect. This was achieved
by clicking on image and
selecting ‘black and
white’. I was then able to
adjust the ‘curve’ levels
to alter the contrast and
brightness of the image
and give it a more
shadow-like effect.

To make this seem more
professional. I duplicated the layer
of my image and had the same
photo directly underneath the
original. By slightly adjusting the
position of the back photo and
creating an overlay, the image
appeared as a silhouette almost and
posed as a shadow to the original,
more visible image.
I also used the font “Baskerville” to
create the vertical album cover
name. The top half I chose to
visualise in a soft shade of pink that
was subtle to match the
sophisticated tone of the whole
product
