Information as a Commodity
 The New Oxford Dictionary of English defines commodity as,
1. “A raw material or primary agricultural product that can be
bought or sold, such as copper or coffee”
2. “A useful or valuable thing such as water or time”
 Merriam-Webster defines commodity as,
 “something that is bought and sold; something or someone that
is useful or valued.”
It means commodity is something that can be bought and sold
and is useful.

• Information must be created, by generation and
processing of data; these are authoring functions.
• It must be assessed for publish ability; these are editorial
functions.
• It must be processed for the generation of a master; these
are composition
• Products or services will be produced.
• The products and services will be marketed.
• They will be distributed.

it a feature film, theatre, TV or radio show.

CONCLUSION
Economics of Information has played an important role in
understanding and evaluating information transfer system over
the past decade. Economics has been an integral part of all phases
of the evolution of information transfer systems including
information research, evolution, design, implementation,
operation. Economics of information observed in the literature
revolves around input, process, output comparisons of products
and services.
In this increasingly complex and dynamic world information is
very important for human as well as technical development.
Information has become a primary source of income and thus
economics of information has become an interesting and
important area of study.
