WE WOULD LIKETO EXPRESS SPECIALTHANKS OF
GRATITUDETO OURTEACHER Ms. NIDHI GANGIYA
WHO GAVE USTHIS GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY TO DO
THIS WONDERFFUL PROJECT ONTHETOPIC
E-WASTE ,WHICH ALSO HELPED US IN DOING A
LOT OF RESEARCH AND I CAMETO KNOW ABOUT
SO MANY NEWTHINGS. WE ARE REALLY
THANKFULTO HER.
SECONDLY WE WOULD LIKETOTHANK ALL OUR

INTRODUCTION
WHAT IS E-WASTEElectronic waste, or e-waste, is a term for
electronic products that have become unwanted, non-
working or obsolete, and have essentially reached the
end of their useful life. In fact, whole categories of old
electronic items contribute to e-waste such asVCRs
being replaced by DVD players, and DVD players being
replaced by blue-ray players. E-waste is created from
anything electronic: computers,TVs, monitors, cell
phones, PDAs,VCRs, CD players, fax machines, printers,
etc.
TYPES OF E-WASTE
THERE ARE FOUR DIFFERENTTYPES OF E-WASTE
1 ICT andTelecommunications equipment
Mainframes, personal computers (CPU, mouse, screen and keyboard etc), laptop
computers.
2 Large Household Appliances
Refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, dish washing machines.
3 Consumer Equipment
Equipment for turning, milling , cutting and grinding.eg-drill machine and grass
cutter
4 Medical Equipment
They consist of many different appliances for even medical appliances.
Ventilator is one of them.
E-WASTE Vs GENERALWASTE
1 E-waste now makes up 5% of
all municipal solid waste
worldwide.
2 It consist of many valuable
metals and other substances
like Gold , copper , iron ,
Aluminium , silver , plastics
,lead and glass.
3 It is very hazardous and
consist of mercury and other
toxic substances.
4 It is a very typical to recycle
them.
E-WASTEGENERALWASTE
1 General waste makes up 46% of
all municipal solid waste
worldwide.
2 It consist of mostly low valued
substances like organic waste
,paper ,food waste ,wood, rubber
and thermocol.
3 It is less hazardous comparatively
because most of it could be used
again or used in other forms such
as manures.
4 The most part of it could be
easily recycled.
PRODUCTION OF E-WASTE
More On E-Waste
Electronic Products often contain hazardous and
toxic materials and should not be dumped with
other wastes.
Along with China ,India is largest importer of E-
waste from developed countries like US, UK. Etc.
In India 90% of mobile equipment are imported.
•
Environmental Impacts
• Processes of the dismantling and disposing of the
electronic waste in the developing countries led to the
number of environmental impacts-:
 Airborne dioxins is produced
 Heavy metals found in road dust
 If burnt pollute the environment
•
Harmful Effects of E-Waste
ON US
• Materials that can cause harm to us or to our environment-:
• Cadmium- It can cause cancer to the humans.
• Plastic- Burning of the plastic release harmful gases like
carbon monoxide.
• PVC-These are the hazardous chemical additives.
Dispose of E-Waste
Donate working older equipments to school, colleges govt.
entities in need.
If PCs are out of order then return it to manufacture.
Send waste goods to authorized recycling facility for proper
disposal.
