4. INTRODUCTION
EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY- Study & Ethical practice
of facilitating learning & improving performance by
creating,using & managing appropriate technological
processes & resources.
Use of both physical hardware & educational theoretics.
Encompasses several domains,
Learning theory
Computer –based training
m-learning
e-learning (online learning)
5. E-LEARNING
Electronic learning
Use of electronic educatinal technology in learning &
teaching.
Use of technology to connect teachers & students who are
physically miles apart.
Learning environment which uses information &
communication technologies(ICT’s) as a platform for
teaching & learning activities.
Use of new multimedia technologies & the internet to
improve the quality of learning.
Using a computer to deliver part or all of a course whether
it is in a school or a full distance learning-course.
6. Includes an array of teaching & learning tools that use electronic media
(phone,bridging audio & videotape,video teleconferencing & satellite broadcast).
In recent years the term has been delimited to web based or online courses that
make use of electronic mail;video conferencing,discussion boards,chat rooms &
electronic white boards on the internet.
Term covering a wide set of applications & processes such as ,
Web based learning
Computer based learning
Virtual classrooms
Digital collaboration(LAN/WAN)
Audio & videotape
Satellite broadcast
Interactive TV
CD-ROM
11. SYNCHRONOUS
At the same time.
Involves interaction of participants with an instructor
via the web in real time.
Participants interact with each other & instructors
through ,
Instant messaging
Chat
Audio & video conferencing
Eg:VCR’s or virtual classrooms online.
12. Benefits
Ability to log or track learning activities.
Continuous monitoring & correction is possible.
Possibilities of global connectivity & collaboration
opportunities among learners.
Ability to personalize the training for each learner.
13. ASYNCHRONOUS
Not at the same time.
Allows the participants to complete the WBT(Web-based training) at their
own pace ,without live interaction with the instructor.
It offers the learners the information they need whenever they need it.
It also has interaction amongst participants through,
Message boards
Bulletin boards
Discussion forums
Computer based training(CBT’s)
Modules on CD-ROM’s
Web based training (intranet, well written articles &
other write ups) (WBT’s).
14. Benefits
Available ‘just in time’for instant learning
& reference.
Flexibility of access from any where at anytime.
Ability to simultaneously reach an unlimited number
of employees.
Uniformity of content & onetime cost of production.
15. Advantages of e-learning
E-learning /online learning proves to be a great alternative
in compare to traditional learning.
Students have the chance to stuydy in their own time &
especially for free.
Represents a great way to study many fields & to boost the
level of self motivation.
So effective because students can finish their homework
quickly & there is more time left for hobbies or finding a
job.
With basically an internet connection, a person can attend
different courses.
Students develop responsibilty & self discipline.
16.
17. DISADVANTAGES OF E-LEARNING
Only in a small group a person can develop
properely. At school, students learn how to make
friends, be patient, get rid of disappointment, and
especially to complete.
Competition between colleagues can be very
stimulating & students will only benefit from it.
Cannot offer Human interaction.
Online courses cannot cope with thousands of
students that try to join discussions.
Online learning can be difficult ,if it is meant for
disciplines that involve practice.
18. CONCLUSION
E-learning should be seen as a complement &
extension of classical forms of learning.
Not even the best online course can fully replace the
personal contact with a teacher,or the human
relationships that develop in a group.
So ,traditional classes should not be replaced with
online learning.
