Systems’ Hypocrisy Theory: The Divergence of Ergonomics and Organizational He...Peter J Stavroulakis
Long has it been argued that the invaluable solutions that ergonomics is capable to provide to institutions, organizations, firms and systems in general, are under–utilized. Ergonomics, as a state of assessing our organizational philosophy has to encounter and include many aspects that do not have anything to do with any abstract or tedious task, but are deeper, profound and are concerned with broader parameters, such as education and culture. This find happens to consort an observed modus operandi that shows resilience. The instruments are there, readily available to be applied in order to transform organizational practice to the definition of a win-win practicality, but they are not, and subsequently systems are left to torment, dysfunction and disease. At the same time, a body of knowledge that is concerned with organizational health has been crystallizing: the wellbeing of the organization directly correlated with the wellbeing of its employees. Pertinent indicators have been formulated and results show that organizational culture may be suffering from absence of ideals unleashed to the world even as far back as the human relations’ school. This paper introduces a conceptual system with respect to the correlation of the key principles of ergonomics with those rooted in organizational health. The practical divergence of these principles is coined as systems’ hypocrisy and the consequent theory is formulated. From this conceptual infrastructure practical guidelines may be laid out in order to achieve a better understanding towards the manifestation and sustainability of systemic health.

Sustainable change at scale and pace: How do we create change that sticks and...Helen Bevan
1) Sustainable change requires creating change that both sticks and spreads over time through adaptation. It is viewed both as an outcome where benefits are maintained and an ongoing process of continuous improvement.
2) The factors that support sustainability are also factors that enable effective spread, such as focusing on value rather than just the innovation itself and considering spread from the user's perspective.
3) Health systems are complex and adaptive, so treating spread as a complicated process does not work. Spread is determined by interactions between parts of the system, not just the parts themselves.

The document discusses a study examining perspectives on gender responsive occupational safety and health (OSH) in Malaysia between regulators and employees. The study aimed to understand if regulators who implement OSH practices and employees who receive them have different views. Interviews found regulators focused on equal treatment regardless of gender, while employees noted physical differences and challenges for women, such as carrying heavy loads. Both groups agreed gender differences in the workplace lead to varied health hazards and demands. The discussion section notes a lack of gender awareness among stakeholders and a need for more regulator training on addressing gender in OSH.
As leaders we understand that our job is to possibly idolize and c.docxfestockton
As leaders we understand that our job is to possibly idolize and carry out the impossible. Healthcare managers primary role is to manage and maintain stabilization. One of the main issues that effects healthcare is intelligence taking over an organization in a setting where elderly people can barely function coherently alone. Quest Diagnostics has switched over to electronically checking in on a kiosk system. MyQuest benefits a patient to receive their results on a portal, without going through the hassle of contacting your doctor or avoiding anxiety throughout the wait for a call back. Is this change saving a hassle or enhancing complications and trouble in an organization?
Change can be hard for some and easy for others. To the healthcare professional manager a change in a structured system may benefit the pace and results of outcomes at this organization. To the patient it may be an additional loop hole in the obstacle course they are not in favor of. The problem initiates when there’s order put in place to carry out new solutions effectively and there’s a complaint and the manager has to see how to satisfy this one customer out of a million because this too can be the rise or fall of an appointment. Managers should stand on what they believe is a better system that works for the majority and not bend it for any reason. Once there’s a tweak in the system it opens up a hole for everyone to think rules will be bent if there’s a complaint. We should question our thinking and communicate effectively with all other leadership to create the most effective system to please as much of the patients as possible. We can not please every human and doing cover ups or quick fixes creates a catastrophe.
Most doctors that have been practicing for years are used to coding manually and paper charts. Recently in the past two years all healthcare settings are forced to switch to icd coding, a new set of codes that are put in place to take the old ones that had been used for years out. This helps the specifications of the patient condition to easily communicate with the patients insurance and lessens the use of multiple codes. This also alters the doctors practice when they are still using paper orders and charts and haven’t learned the codes correctly so are causing patients to be billed by insurance.
When critically analyzing the solution to this problem we should use the problem-solving skills of asking the 5 whys. In a fast past setting we usually like to immediately fix the problem in the area or satisfy the majority. This can result to quick fixes which is like only placing a band aid over a bullet wound. Longterm this result can be detrimental to the organization. Quick fixes should be avoided as much as possible by healthcare management or anyone in leadership.

Jee Wei Lim: Challenges of measuring care integrationSTN IMPRO
This document discusses the challenges of measuring care integration. It identifies three main challenges: 1) defining integration and determining when it is needed, 2) measuring the execution of integration plans, and 3) deciding which measures to use. For the first challenge, there are over 175 definitions of integration and determining the appropriate level and areas to integrate is difficult. The second challenge involves measuring integration readiness, capacity, and tracking progress. The third challenge is that there are hundreds of potential measures but many are not well-validated. Additional complexities for measuring health and social care integration are discussed. Future trends may involve broader scopes of integration beyond health/social care and new tools for measurement.

This document summarizes a paper about leadership challenges during health IT projects aimed at integrating healthcare. It discusses how the complexity of integrating different healthcare systems requires new approaches to leadership. It describes a project merging the IT departments of two district health boards in New Zealand that established a single IT infrastructure. The project found that people experienced a "capability crisis" during the changes but sought leadership. A new phenomenon called the "leadership crucible" was identified. Effective leadership is important for managing challenges and ensuring success during large, complex health IT integration projects.
This document discusses how to build health into communities through policy, systems, and environmental changes.
