Apps to help you learn new language
• WHO? People who want to widen their
vocabulary, get some conversation practice in,
revise their grammar, prepare for a trip, or be
the star student in their language class.
• Accessibility? Computer, Phones and Tablets.
Language apps are everywhere the internet can
be accessed. DuoLingo is one of the most
popular apps and Babbel even has
downloadable offline lessons available.

Views of Multimedia
Multimedia Instruction modes
• Delivery Mode: The focus on the Technology
and not how the people learn would be that it
uses the speakers of the phone to project sound
and the screen to project text for learning
• Presentation Modes: In both apps the
presentation is verbally for one channel of
learning via microphone and speakers, and
visually through text and quizzing.
• Sensory Modality: The other learning cantered
view of Multimedia is via auditory and visual
learning as the Apps require you to read,
translate, and vocalize through presenting the
material in various touch, text, and sound forms.

SWOT
• Strengths: Duolingo has a strength in being free
to use. Babbel has a strength focusing on
conversational learning and it explains grammar
rules as you progress.
• Weakness: Duolingo is not the best for helping
you retain the lessons and giving you useful
vocabulary with grammar knowledge. Babbel
costs money.
• Opportunities: Both of these apps give you the
opportunity to learn language on the go. For
only 15 minutes of your time per day you can
make yourself more marketable.
• Threats / Issues: Both apps require you to be
self motivated and determined to learn to be
effective.
