Duane Hanson Analysis
Duane Hanson, born in 1925, used his traditional painting and sculpting techniques to create a
realistic sculpture of a football player. The work is known as Football Player, made in 1981. Hanson
used oil on polyvinyl, clothed, helmet, and styrofoam cup. By painting this sculpture realistically
with oils and adding real hair and clothes, this sculpture has been mistakenly thought of as a human
being. Hanson was able to create a mix media of a football player. His sculpture, Football Player,
focuses mainly on the details seen on a typical football player. For example, Hanson uses curly, dirty
blonde hair and adds hair on the player's forearms. He also creates the effect of sweat running down
the sculpture's face and showing dirt on the clothes. The sculpture is sitting on the helmet while
holding a styrofoam cup, giving the illusion of a tired ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hansen also shows off rough, smooth, matte, and shiny texture as well. One example of a rough
texture can be the clothes. The clothes that the sculpture is wearing are wrinkled and dirtied giving it
a rough texture. An example of a smooth texture can be the helmet. The helmet is smooth when you
touch it. An example of a matte texture can be the sneakers because the sneakers looks dull and
dirtied giving off a matte look. Finally, one example of shiny texture can be be the face. Hansen was
able to give off a sweaty look to the face. This gives the face a shiny texture. Hansen was able to use
these textures to create a realistic human being. The rough texture and shiny texture contrast with
each other, making the details on the face and arms pop out more. The rough texture and smooth
texture help the sculpture seem more realistic while showing off the matte textures. This artwork can
be defined as a geometric because a human being is symmetrical and use shapes to create the
structure. Unlike free form, human beings are not irregular shaped or non representational

Reflection Paper
When I moved from South Korea to Miami, I expected there to be many differences. What I didn't
foresee was that there were also some similarities. I assumed that moving from South Korea back to
the United States, would be akin to going home. However, I discovered that coming to Miami was
comparable to adjusting to a foreign country all over again. Both South Korea and Miami are lovely
places to visit. One of them, however, is also a marvelous place to live. Every major city has traffic
issues. Nowhere else can hold a candle to the complications while on the road than that of Miami or
South Korea though. Red lights are more of a suggestion in Korea. If the signal light in front of you
is green, it is best to proceed with caution, just in case another driver decides that that red light does
not apply to them and they barrel right through it. After living, and driving, in South Korea, I didn't
envision that anywhere could possibly have worse traffic, or drivers than they; then I relocated to
South Florida. Turn signals seem to be an unnecessary action for many motorists in the Miami area.
I have never embodied a confident driver, especially in an obscure area, and my recent experiences
in a vehicle, both while being the driver or the passenger, have done nothing to make me any more
comfortable on the road. Food is a universal language. I left South Korea in November of 2016,
after residing there for two years. To this day, and probably for the rest of my life, I still get

Donald Trump : Latino Immigrants In The Media
Donald Trump connects Latino immigrants with criminal acts and violence and because of this
racial bias and the way Donald Trump is meddling with the image of Latino people it's incredibly
damaging. Latinos only represent 5.8 percent of the speaking roles in the media, this does include
non–latinos playing the role a Latino should be playing. Which for some reason, Hollywood loves to
give white folk the roles of people of color to play in movies. Even when actual roles are given to
Latino's they act most commonly as the stereotypes they're associated with. Primarily as criminals,
law enforcers, and cheap labor, nothing more than "immigrants" with the vocabulary of a grade
schooler. Covered in thick accents or slang, who break the law and cause trouble. In a
predominantly white society, it has been recorded to be true that programs and movies featuring
compelling Latino talent and storylines are rewarded with high ratings and revenue. So why are
Latinos not in movies more often as, lead actors and strong characters? This is a matter of wanting
to cast and make profit from Latinos without giving them the title, nor the the proper portrayal. To
add to that, our current president is adding fuel to the fire, he tells his followers that he's going to
build a wall and make Mexico pay for it. Trump loves to make minority groups the main topic of his
speeches to the public. When the president is blatantly racist, I believe that we should rethink our
morals and ethics as a society,

Narrative Essay About My Best Vacation
It was Mexico three years ago. My dad's job was celebrating in Mexico and our family ( which is
my brother, mom, and Maria) could come with him. We went to this 5 star resort by the beach. IT
WAS AMAZING! There were so many pools and the hotel room was so fancy! The aqua blue ocean
was so warm, that it felt like there was a heater in the water. We went swimming multiple times and
I think i saw a whale jumping from the water. Everywhere I looked, there was something new to see.
Other than the fact that I got sunburned a lot, I thought that this was an awesome vacation. We could
even bring our nanny, Maria. We spent mornings eating breakfast from the giant bufe and afternoons
were spent swimming or finishing my rainbow loom bracelet. The evening was for eating yummy
dinner and facetiming with my friends. I was exploding with joy. When my dad had free time from
work, we were browsing around and we saw a stand with a bunch of pamphlets. Dad and Mom said
that we got to choose one activity to do. We looked at caverns and zip lining but then I saw it.
Dolphins! It said that you got to do tricks and get your picture taken! I showed the flyer to my
parents immediately. "Mom! Dad! Look!" I squealed, racing to them. My brother, who wasn't a fan
of water said, "I wanna go too!" And then we were off. We took a shuttle to the place. I was so
nervous! My heart was pounding. I finally got to meet one of my favorite animals! When we
arrived, a helper asked us to get on our swim suits or

The Importance Of Crime In Miami
Miami, vice city, holds a million of people, events, and cultures. Sad is the part, in the southeastern
of Florida, quite a few number of people incorporated in Mafia are manipulating the lives of the rest.
Though in such a Metropolitan city, crimes are expected to find by, yet the city council must ensure
the safety of public, its properties, and a well–established justice system. In the city of Miami may
also be used sarcastically for that its residents are too scared with crimes to enjoy a peaceful sleep.
Near Miami Beach, a gang of 13 criminals haunted the streets of Miami. An old woman named as
Lindsey, lived nearby the residential area of Ocean Drive Miami Beach residing in a very luxurious
condo with an amazing view that faces the waters of Miami shores. She was too old and her 21
years old granddaughter used to assist her for the execution of outdoor tasks, as she was an elder
who could barely walk without assistance. Lindsey was capable enough to provide for the
household. Her late husband who was deceased after a long–suffering illness has left her a lot of
property and bank balance. She could not use much of it and her granddaughter used to live a very
limited, dull, and fun–less life. Katy the granddaughter has never asked for demands other ... Show

Saying Goodbye To A Teacher
Saying goodbye to a my choir teacher They say people never know how important something is,
until it's gone. When I said goodbye to my choir teacher, it opened my eyes to how influential she
was. Jami Lercher pursued the job of my choir teacher freshman and sophomore year at Roseville
Area High School. She played a significant role in my life as my mentor and a great friend. She also
invited me to join her outside of school choir, VOX and we grew even closer through that
experience. Everywhere she went, merriment and exhilaration followed her. She assisted me with
the ability to read notes and read music. Unfortunately, the jubilance of the choir department would
come to a halt. Mrs. Lercher received the opportunity of a lifetime and was accepted into the
university of Miami Florida to pursue her doctorate degree. She would depart from RAHS, taking
that merriment and exhilaration with her to Miami that she had constructed for the choir department.
The choir students were grieving, but we supported her decision and knew that this would aid her
immensely when she would come back to teach. The night I said goodbye to Mrs. Lercher was a
night of waterworks, compliments and the hardships of expressing our goodbyes.
That night my choir, Bel Canto, just finished our final concert of the year, making the waterworks
pump double of what they should. The crowd roared when we finished our final song called "Sail
Away". The compliments flowing from the audience's mouths about how

`` Se Habla Espanol ``
Tanya Barrientos explained her struggle with her identity growing up in her writing "Se Habla
Español". Barrientos describes herself as being "Guatemalan by birth but pure gringa by
circumstance" (83). These circumstances began when her family relocated to the United States when
she was three years old. Once the family moved to the states, her parents only spoke Spanish
between themselves. The children learned to how read, write and speak the English language to fit
into society at that time in 1963. (83) Barrientos explained how society shifted and "the nation
changed its views on ethnic identity" (85) after she graduated college and it came as a backlash to
her because she had isolated herself from the stereotype she constructed in her head. She was
insulted to be called Mexican and to her speaking the Spanish language translated into being poor.
She had felt superior to Latino waitresses and their maid when she told them that she didn't speak
Spanish. After the shift in society Barrientos wondered where she fit it since the Spanish language
was the glue that held the new Latino American community together. Barrientos then set out on a
difficult awkward journey to learn the language that others would assume she would already know.
She wanted to nurture the seed of pride to be called Mexican that her father planted when her father
sent her on a summer trip to Mexico City. Once Barrientos had learned more Spanish and could
handle the present, past and future tenses she still

The Colombian Reggaeton Singer Who Is From Medellin...
Maluma, the colombian reggaeton singer who is from Medellin Colombia, and Pitbull, the hip hop
reggaeton singer who's from Miami Florida, share some familiar similarities and vast differences in
their background and songs. Both Maluma and Pitbull sing and rap to reggaeton music. With this in
mind, reggaeton originated in Puerto Rico and is considered hip hop and latin american music.
Reggaeton is also sung in spanish. Maluma began his music career in 2010 while Pitbull began in
2001. Uniquely, both singers perform live for their fans and neither of them are retired yet. Although
Maluma started out at a much later period than Pitbull, he still has the same tone as Pitbull does in
his songs. Maluma and Pitbull can each carry out beautiful vocal sounds and harmonize to music
wonderfully. Correspondingly, they are extremely professional singers. For example, Maluma sings
with a lot of low yet powerful vocals while Pitbull sings with medium to high pitched vocals. In
general, the better they sound to their audience, the more they will rise to fame. Another key point is
that they both feature other artists in some of their songs. Maluma and Pitbull can influence people
to learn more about their culture, learn about their musical influence, and learn about their albums
and visit them live in concert to experience an amazing show. Additionally, Pitbull comes from a
beautiful city with a breathtaking view of Miami's beach and Maluma comes from a place of tall

Stereotypes Of Hispanic Women
"Yes, I'm blonde. When I started as an actor, because of the accent and my body and my personality,
it was not what the stereotype of the Latina woman in Hollywood is, so they didn't know where to
put me. The blond hair wasn't matching. The moment I put my hair dark, it was better for my work"
(Vergara). The media tends to portray stereotypes of many different people without warnings. So,
when people watch TV or listen to the radio all they get are the generalizations of these different
people. One group that has been highly stereotyped and somewhat portrayed in the media are
Hispanic women. How the media portrays Hispanic women is based on both gender and racial
stereotypes (Correa, 2010). This portrayal of Hispanic women impacts people in many ways. Sofia
Vergara's quote that was stated above is an example of the impact these stereotypes caused; it was
hard for Sofia Vergara to get a job because she didn't look like the stereotypical Hispanic woman
and the media continues to portray Hispanic women as such. One of the largest influences on the
roles Hispanic women are expected to play is the media's portrayal of them. The media portrays
Hispanic women by generalizations of how they look, how they act, and how they identify their
values.
Before getting into how the media portrays Hispanic women, there must be a clear outlook on the
fact that there is very little representation of Hispanics in the US media. This has a large influence
on how people in the US view Hispanics.

Racial Inequality In The NFL
For many, speaking up for what you believe in can be difficult and risky, but ultimately worth the
risk. Colin Kaepernick took this risk, by kneeling during the national anthem to stand up against "
police brutality and the inequality that people of color"(NFL). With many unjust shootings and
police beatings of African Americans, Kaepernick's teammate Eric Reid couldn't stand the violence
anymore after "the killing of Alton Sterling in my hometown Baton Rouge, La"(Reid). Reid joined
Kaepernick in taking a knee during the national anthem, in doing this Kaepernick and Reid inspired
other players to raise awareness and help those in need. This decision caused huge impacts on the
nation, the NFL, and the youth who look up to the players of the NFL. Racial inequality will always
be a huge topic in the United States of America, and continues today to still be a huge topic. With
the NFL players raising awareness by kneeling and locking arms together during the national
anthem, the topic of racial inequality has gained more interest. After Kaepernick in 2016 first
kneeled many other athletes and stars joined the movement to talk about the problems of racial
inequality. People like Ellen DeGeneres, Zendaya, George Lopez, and many others voice their
support for the players (JustJared). This new NFL season has caused more controversy with a new

Video Analysis: Taiji Fishing Industry
I felt like the video was very biased and one–sided. I don't personally support the slaughtering of
dolphins or any other animal for that matter, but it's just like Americans to step in and change how
other societies do thing for the "better". Throughout the entire video the activists in the film are
making the Taiji fishing industry look like the devils spawn and the video is trying to persuade
people to disagree with their methods. The video does a good job of capturing the grotesque killings
of the dolphins to impose pathos into the movie to make people feel sympathetic towards the
animals but they only focus on the negative aspects of the dolphin killings. I'm sure the Taiji fishing
industry boosts Japans economy and therefore betters the country. The video states the 23,000
dolphins and porpoises die every year due to the Taiji slaughters, but my research shows that there
are more than 42 different types of dolphins and approximately 170,243,000 dolphins still roaming
the oceans today so 23,000 a year is a minuscule amount of dolphins to lose. The film makes a valid
point that the dolphins are a smart race and they should be preserved and valued. But everyday
dolphins and other animals are exploited in zoos and amusement parks and are kept in captivity. Ric
O'Barry even talks about his own experience with a dolphin committing suicide in his arms, and this
is what first peaked his interest in helping sea creatures, but he ended up in Taiji, Japan instead of

The Physical Portrayals Of Hispanic Women In The Media
The physical portrayal of Hispanic women in the media has a large influence on the Hispanic
women and girls that view these portrayals. The media's physical portrayal of Hispanic women is
that they are voluptuous, dark–haired, tanned skin, and petite. There are many films, TV shows, and
any other media outlets that portray Hispanic women as such. Examples of these portrayals are
"Modern Family," "Maid in Manhattan," and "Girl in Progress." In each of these movies or shows,
the main character appears as the stereotypical Hispanic woman. This is what many Hispanic
women and girls believe that the world sees them as. They also believe that this is how they should
look. This especially affects adolescent girls that identify as Hispanic. "media use may play a role in
the body image development of Latina adolescents" (Schooler, 2008, p. 134). Most of the time when
watching television, Latinas see a white woman and their beauty standards. The difference between
white women in the media as opposed to Latin women is that there is a greater variety of how white
women in the U.S. look. When a Latina finally sees someone who is Latina, they expect to see
themselves, instead, they see Eva Mendes, long wavy hair, curvy, and petite. When young Latin
women see this, they expect themselves to be the same way. If they don't look like that, it can result
in a spoiled body image of themselves. "Latina women in this sample tended to hold the lowest
perceptions of their bodies, the highest awareness of Consumerism as a factor in the body/beauty
standard, and scored high in racial identification" (Poran, 2002, p. 79) Latin women understand who
they are and when someone is of the same background. Many are also self–conscious about their
bodies, and that is likely due to the fact that not only are actresses on TV shows thin and curvy, but
many commercials are about the newest way to lose weight rapidly, or what to buy to get curves. All
women of any race have issues with body Image, but as a Latina, the media plays a big role in how
Latinas form their body image.
According to the media's portrayal of Latin women, there are two ways Latin women act. The first
way is passive, pure, and dependent on men; the second way is wild,

I became a Miami Dolphins fan in 2007 when I attended the one game they won that season ever
since then I have done a lot of research about my teams history and know a lot of stats about past
and present players in the NFL. I am a football fanatic and enjoy watching the game and cheering
for the Dolphins on Sunday. Both the 1972 Miami Dolphins and the 2007 Miami Dolphins made
history at the end of their seasons. Both teams being in somewhat similar quarterback situations, but
it didn't turn out for Lemon the way it did for Morrall. The major difference being the 1972 team
made history in the league for something that is very difficult to achieve, the 2007 team made
history for their team in an awful way. The stability that Don Shula provided his players for many
years could have made an impact on how well his team played; compared to the instability in Miami
before the 2007 season and even still to this day which can negatively impact how the players play.
Coaches and players didn't go from team to team back then which provided the coaches and players

Essay On South Floria
South Florida's ascendancy to the epicenter of the cruise industry began long before the modern
cruise lines were born. Early in the twentieth century, a group of daring visionaries and
entrepreneurs began to dream of expanding the local business community and creating new
industries to take advantage of Florida's climate with its sunshine and warmth. Chief among these
businesses they envisioned a winter tourism trade but to realize this dream they would require a
strong transportation infrastructure.
The coastal shipping trade along the United States' East Coast helped to bring the first visitors to
Florida spurred on by the growing railroad empires developed by Henry Flagler and Henry B. Plant.
By the 1890s, these railroad tycoons ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then in 1913, the Plant Line, now owned by Flagler's Peninsular & Occidental Steamship Company
(P&O), decided to send its new 3,786–ton steamer the ss Evangeline on winter pleasure cruises. But,
instead of sailing from the new ports, she cruised from Key West calling at Panama, Jamaica, and
Cuba. The following winter the cruises were repeated but this time sailing from Jacksonville. All the
remained was to link these new cruise efforts with the emerging South Florida ports.
After World War I, a flourishing trade developed with steamers such as the 1,700 gross ton ss City
of Miami and the 3,200 gross ton ss Northland, maintaining overnight runs between Miami and
Havana. However, sensing that the ports still lacked a proper infrastructure to maintain the shipping
industry, the first of many efforts began to improve the facilities. In Miami, a US$3 million project
was undertaken in 1925 to dredge and widen the channel. Similarly, to the north, the Mayor of
Hollywood was the driving force for a US$6 million project to deepen the harbor inlet, widen the
turning basin and build modern 35–foot piers at Bay Mable. Completed early in 1928, it is said that

Miami Dolphins Team Summary
With the preseason underway, the Miami Dolphins are 1–1 having loss this past weekend to the
Dallas Cowboys 41–14. For many teams, the preseason simply presents an opportunity to get into
shape and establish some team chemistry going into the regular season, For the Dolphins, a team
clearly in rebuilding mode, the preseason holds extra importance as new Head Coach Adam Gase
desperately needs to assess the team's current status and how to start putting all the pieces into place.
The one thing the Dolphins succeeded at doing in 2015 was avoid major injuries on offense. There
were a few on defense, but the way the defense played with everyone healthy was so poor that the
injure players were barely missed. At two games into the preseason, it's ... Show more content on

He then turned the ball over to Matt Moore, who looked sharp with 10/14 passing for 122 yards and
1 TD. He was also sacked 3 times, which follows suit with one of the Dolphins' major problems last
year, the offensive line. Fortunately, they did a much better job of opening holes for the running
game, which was led by Isaiah Pead with 50 yards on 10 carries. After giving up 10 first–quarter
points, the defense looked sharp, shutting down the Giants' offense the rest of the way. This past
week against the Dallas Cowboys was a different story. First, the good news. Tannehill played most
of the game and performed pretty well. He completed 12 of 20 passes for 162 yards and 2 TDs with
no interceptions and only one sack. Again. Pead looked good running the ball with 48 yards on only
4 carries. At this point, he looks like a legitimate contender to take the starting job away from
preseason favorite Jay Ajayi. Now for the bad news. The defense stopped nobody. The Cowboys had
250+ yards passing, 150+ yard rushing, and seemingly scored at will against a defense that looked
lost on the field. This was a huge problem for last year's squad that ended the season 6–10 because
the defense couldn't keep offenses off the

Cultural Competence Work With Latino Americans
Lum–Ch. 11 Review: The purpose of chapter 11 in Lum (2011) is to discuss cultural competence
work with Latino Americans. The growth of the Latino population in the United States has been
greatly increasing. As of 2008, 15.1% of the United States population is Latino. Some concerns that
elderly Latinos may face are: "family roles, health, caregiving, end of life issues, protective factors,
and effective interventions" (p. 309). Many of the Central American Latino grandparents have not
completed high school, which has left them unemployed. Social workers who serve this group,
should become more aware of the historical discrimination that this population has faced.
Reflection: Due to the fact that the Latino population is still growing, it is important to consider the
history of discrimination that they have faced due to America. Something that I found interesting is
the ethical issues that were listed off. For example, making sure that they understand the informed
consent. If it seems as if they do not understand it–do not let them sign and do not assume the
participants either. Most people in our society do not even read the informed consent and it is
typically not a problem for them. It is also important to understand the heterogeneity of the Latino
population. Latino in itself is a diverse population. Where I come from, I see a lot of racism among
this group. There are a lot of people in my hometown who strongly dislike this population. They
think that they are loud and

Racism In Racism
Racism has always been a problem with this country, but lately people are starting to express
themselves and their ethnicity. Football is a big deal to this country because it is our sport. NFL
players are speaking out, well actually they are standing out to show America that they are not okay
with how they are being treated. When a national figure such as an NFL player refuses to stand for
the national anthem, it shocks people into paying attention and generates conversation. Three
reasons why athletes should kneel down for the national anthem are they should protest to show
their concerns, it's not an official rule, and NFL players should have a right of freedom.
First, athletes should protest their concerns. For example, Kaepernick kneeling was to bring
attention to police brutality against African–Americans. According to Autumn Allison, the author of
"Why do NFL players protest during national anthem? A timeline: From Kaepernick to Trump" there
have been significant words used disrespectfully. Trump made an extremely decisive statement
about the players who kneel, calling them an unnecessary word and that they should get fired." In
addition, Trump said that kneeling has nothing to do with race, but it actually does from the injustice
in the country. Many players protest because they are not being treated fairly, so they're expressing
their feelings.
Secondly It's not an official rule for NFL players to stand during the national anthem. For example
The Seattle Seahawks said as a team "Out of love for our country and in honor of the sacrifices
made on our behalf, we unite to oppose those that would deny our most basic freedoms." According
to "Anthem kneeling isn't aimed at veterans, and other NFL protest misconceptions" by Josh Hafner,
it is stated that kneeling down is not just respect for the country but Colin Kaepernick said "I am not
going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of
color." In addition, Smith and Carlos (two NFL players) raised their fists in the air to protest against
social injustice, racism, and discrimination during a time of high tension in the United States. Smith
and Carlos raised their fists mostly because they were protesting

Tax Base Miami
Tax Base Miami – MLA People living in Miami are in the face of danger, and for the most part they
are not aware of it. Due to high population, Miami is the fourth largest city to become affected by
sea level rise. (Ankum et al.) In the next 32–50 years, sea level is expected to rise by as much as two
feet. (Ankum et al.) This two–foot rise will have detrimental effects on the urban settings of Miami.
The amount of soil erosion that is undergoing at our beaches will greatly increase if a two–foot rise
occurs. At a four–foot rise, road connectivity would begin to become affected. At a six–foot rise,
Southern Florida would no longer be habitable as it would, for the most part, be underwater. Not
much is being invested in mitigation efforts, most of what is being done are short term solutions.
Instead of coming up with ideas to prevent and try to slow down the effects of climate change on our
environment, we are focusing on ideas such as building up a sea wall, relocating power plants, and
redesigning structures. Climate isn't the only thing changing, our environments are changing too.
Our lakes are becoming polluted and eutrophic (Scavia et al.), which causes the overgrowth of algae
and death of many of the species found within the lakes. Here in Miami, water has an important role
in the value of housing by real estate buyers. (McCormick et al.) Imagine building two houses of
identical shape and size. One house is built around a neighborhood devoid of water sources and the

Essay on The Anatomy of a Dolphin
Dolphins, cousins to whales, member of the family Delphinidae, and an animal that captures the
heart of anyone who sees one. This powerhouse of a marine mammal can swim at speeds of up to
thirty–five miles per hour and renowned for the fact that they can jump out of the water, a feat meant
to both conserve energy and to get places quicker. When they swim, they are as graceful as a swan
and as playful as a little child. Well, read on to find out more about these amazing creatures.
When you see a dolphin, you are in awe, but what sort of questions do you ask? How do they swim
so fast, what do they eat, where do they live? First, the anatomy of a dolphin. We'll start with a

Dolphins, like most all sea animals, have fins that help them to swim quickly and steadily. They
have three different types of fins on their bodies. They are called Pectoral Fins, a Dorsal Fin, and
Flukes. Pectoral Fins are to the dolphins what arms are to us. They are situated around where arms
would be on a dolphin and these fins help the dolphin to steer in the water. The Dorsal Fin is
attached to the top of the dolphin. This stabilizes the dolphin while it swims. Without it, the dolphin
will roll upside down or do a barrel roll every time it pumps its tail up and down. The Flukes are the
fins on the Dolphin's tail. They provide the thrust needed to swim forward. It may seem weird, but
the bones in a Dolphin's Pectoral Fin look like they were originally hands, so that must mean that
the dolphin is descended from land dwelling animals.
When a dolphin looks for and finds food, one question might come up. How can dolphins find out
where food is from so far away in cloudy water. The answer is the same as bats...Echolocation!
Echolocation is a series of high frequency clicks that they send out from an organ in their head
called the melon (not a honeydew or cantaloupe). The sounds travel through the water and when
they hit against something solid, the sound bounces back as an echo. The dolphin then picks up the
sound in its lower jaw. After the sound is picked up, it is sent to the Dolphin's middle ear, then to the
inner ear, and finally up to the

Some say that the third time is the charm, and Isaiah Pead is proving it. The Miami Dolphins are
thirsty for a running back, currently with six of them active on the roster. The Dolphins' stable of
back include veteran Arian Foster, who Miami signed in free agency, last year's fifth–round draft
pick Jay Ajayi, this year's draft selection Kenyan Drake and the familiar faces around Miami, Daniel
Thomas and Damien Williams. But none of those backs are turning heads in the preseason like Pead.
Pead has had two previous stops, two full seasons with the St. Louis Rams and a three–week stay
with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now he's heating things up in Miami, pushing hard to receive starting
reps. Last weekend, Miami lost to the Dallas Cowboys 41–14, ... Show more content on

10 Sugar Bowl. With past injuries hindering him from showcasing his full abilities, Pead seems to
be in full stride early in camp. He shared his thoughts on his play through the first few preseason
games. "I just came out to play football," Pead said. "It's another preseason game. I've been having a
good camp, and I just wanted to put something on film." Preseason football is filled with job
stability and cuts, but the only cuts we should see regarding Pead are on the field. Despite a limited
showing in Miami's third preseason game, Pead looks like he could be a solid contributor with his
latest opportunity in the league. The Dolphins need all the help they can get after Lamar "Miller
Time" Miller left for Houston. Miami stadium has a major new look, and so does the team's

his amazing rookie season. Disregarding his 2015 season when he was atop the NFL. Six seasons,

A Cultural Identity Crisis : Jose Garcia
Case study four focuses on a cultural identity crisis from the perspective of a young man named Jose
Garcia. Unlike the previous identity cases, this case deals with Jose's adaptation of another cultural
identity leading him to perceive his true Latino heritage as inferior to white identity. Throughout his
school career, Jose perceived himself as a white person; he only identified as Latino when he
thought it would be beneficial. He thought that just because he and his family did not fall into
cultural stereotypes then that meant that they were somewhat superior to those Latinos who did.
Most of all, Jose thought of himself as superior to all Latinos, including his family, because he
possessed the characteristics of a white person which, to him, was the best person that one could be
America. As a result, Jose developed a deep racism towards his own people that he did not
overcome until later in his life. Jose's issues started while he was in elementary school. At school, he
felt safe in the presence of the serene white community. When he went home, on the contrary, he
mostly feared his colored community and hostile environment. Therefore, he cherished the safety
and comfort of being in a predominantly white environment more than being in his own cultural
environment. He also viewed all Latinos as poor and below white standards because that was the
only way he saw them throughout his home life. Essentially Jose generalized his entire culture based
upon the lack of

Descriptive Essay On The Ameur Of The Sea
It had been a beautiful morning and the boat, Grandeur of the Sea, was rocking from the waves. I
could smell the fresh air of the ocean. All around me, people were hustling with their families to get
ready for their excursions for the day. The boat had just arrived at Nassau, one of the islands in the
Bahamas. We had eaten a big "all you could eat" breakfast. My family and I were ready to get off
the boat, and head to our excursion to swim with dolphins. I was so excited to swim with dolphins,
because I want to be a marine biologist. I've always felt a connect, and a love towards the ocean and
the creatures that live within its glorious vastness. I love dolphins because of their gracefulness, and
intelligence. I've always found dolphins playful, and curious manners fascinating. So, to finally get a
chance to interact and swim with them was a dream came true. To get off the boat, we went through
security, and then met our group outside of the boat. We rode on a catamaran, through the crystal–
clear water to the beautiful resort on Balmoral Island. The ride to the island was breathtaking. I
could see stunning coral reefs beneath the boat. When we got to the island we stood in line to
register and pay. After we paid, they took us into a class room, where they told tell us information
about the animals they had around the resort. The resort had many dolphins and some big sting rays
that were available to swim with. They showed us the proper and improper ways to pet and

The Miami Dolphins Football Team
The Miami Dolphins, a professional football team located in Miami, Florida, has been a part of the
National Football League (NFL) since 1966. The organization is most notably known for the 1972
Miami Dolphins football team, led by Don Shula, who went undefeated a won the Super Bowl. This
team was the first and, so far, only team to have a perfect season capped off with winning the
championship game. From 1966 to 1970 the Miami Dolphins were perceived like they are today as a
losing franchise that could not win. That was until Don Shula, helped make the Dolphins one of the
best franchises in the national football league during his reign as head coach. The time period from
1970 to 1993 were the golden years of the organization 's history; during this time the Miami
Dolphins won 13 AFC East Titles, 5 AFC Championships, 2 Super Bowls and in 1973 set the league
record 74,961 season ticket sales. During this time period the team had star players Larry Csonka,
Dan Marino, Bob Griese, and several others that helped to build and sustain the Dolphins legacy.
Since 1993 the Miami Dolphins have been known for holding three fantastic super bowls in 1994,
2006, and 2009, all of which were great games that the Dolphins were not involved in. While in
recent years the Miami Dolphins have gone back to the original roots of field losing teams, the
organization has developed a marketing strategy to improve the financial situation of the

Personal Narrative: The City Of Miami
One stroll through the streets of Miami, in the USA brings up mixed feelings – on one hand you can
call it modern and laidback, and could also draw comparisons, with say, New York for that matter;
for the most liberal city in the USA. Having said that, on the other hand, it also does have a safety

Duane Hanson Analysis

  • 1. Duane Hanson Analysis Duane Hanson, born in 1925, used his traditional painting and sculpting techniques to create a realistic sculpture of a football player. The work is known as Football Player, made in 1981. Hanson used oil on polyvinyl, clothed, helmet, and styrofoam cup. By painting this sculpture realistically with oils and adding real hair and clothes, this sculpture has been mistakenly thought of as a human being. Hanson was able to create a mix media of a football player. His sculpture, Football Player, focuses mainly on the details seen on a typical football player. For example, Hanson uses curly, dirty blonde hair and adds hair on the player's forearms. He also creates the effect of sweat running down the sculpture's face and showing dirt on the clothes. The sculpture is sitting on the helmet while holding a styrofoam cup, giving the illusion of a tired ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hansen also shows off rough, smooth, matte, and shiny texture as well. One example of a rough texture can be the clothes. The clothes that the sculpture is wearing are wrinkled and dirtied giving it a rough texture. An example of a smooth texture can be the helmet. The helmet is smooth when you touch it. An example of a matte texture can be the sneakers because the sneakers looks dull and dirtied giving off a matte look. Finally, one example of shiny texture can be be the face. Hansen was able to give off a sweaty look to the face. This gives the face a shiny texture. Hansen was able to use these textures to create a realistic human being. The rough texture and shiny texture contrast with each other, making the details on the face and arms pop out more. The rough texture and smooth texture help the sculpture seem more realistic while showing off the matte textures. This artwork can be defined as a geometric because a human being is symmetrical and use shapes to create the structure. Unlike free form, human beings are not irregular shaped or non representational ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Reflection Paper When I moved from South Korea to Miami, I expected there to be many differences. What I didn't foresee was that there were also some similarities. I assumed that moving from South Korea back to the United States, would be akin to going home. However, I discovered that coming to Miami was comparable to adjusting to a foreign country all over again. Both South Korea and Miami are lovely places to visit. One of them, however, is also a marvelous place to live. Every major city has traffic issues. Nowhere else can hold a candle to the complications while on the road than that of Miami or South Korea though. Red lights are more of a suggestion in Korea. If the signal light in front of you is green, it is best to proceed with caution, just in case another driver decides that that red light does not apply to them and they barrel right through it. After living, and driving, in South Korea, I didn't envision that anywhere could possibly have worse traffic, or drivers than they; then I relocated to South Florida. Turn signals seem to be an unnecessary action for many motorists in the Miami area. I have never embodied a confident driver, especially in an obscure area, and my recent experiences in a vehicle, both while being the driver or the passenger, have done nothing to make me any more comfortable on the road. Food is a universal language. I left South Korea in November of 2016, after residing there for two years. To this day, and probably for the rest of my life, I still get ... • 5. Donald Trump : Latino Immigrants In The Media Donald Trump connects Latino immigrants with criminal acts and violence and because of this racial bias and the way Donald Trump is meddling with the image of Latino people it's incredibly damaging. Latinos only represent 5.8 percent of the speaking roles in the media, this does include non–latinos playing the role a Latino should be playing. Which for some reason, Hollywood loves to give white folk the roles of people of color to play in movies. Even when actual roles are given to Latino's they act most commonly as the stereotypes they're associated with. Primarily as criminals, law enforcers, and cheap labor, nothing more than "immigrants" with the vocabulary of a grade schooler. Covered in thick accents or slang, who break the law and cause trouble. In a predominantly white society, it has been recorded to be true that programs and movies featuring compelling Latino talent and storylines are rewarded with high ratings and revenue. So why are Latinos not in movies more often as, lead actors and strong characters? This is a matter of wanting to cast and make profit from Latinos without giving them the title, nor the the proper portrayal. To add to that, our current president is adding fuel to the fire, he tells his followers that he's going to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it. Trump loves to make minority groups the main topic of his speeches to the public. When the president is blatantly racist, I believe that we should rethink our morals and ethics as a society, ... • 7. Narrative Essay About My Best Vacation It was Mexico three years ago. My dad's job was celebrating in Mexico and our family ( which is my brother, mom, and Maria) could come with him. We went to this 5 star resort by the beach. IT WAS AMAZING! There were so many pools and the hotel room was so fancy! The aqua blue ocean was so warm, that it felt like there was a heater in the water. We went swimming multiple times and I think i saw a whale jumping from the water. Everywhere I looked, there was something new to see. Other than the fact that I got sunburned a lot, I thought that this was an awesome vacation. We could even bring our nanny, Maria. We spent mornings eating breakfast from the giant bufe and afternoons were spent swimming or finishing my rainbow loom bracelet. The evening was for eating yummy dinner and facetiming with my friends. I was exploding with joy. When my dad had free time from work, we were browsing around and we saw a stand with a bunch of pamphlets. Dad and Mom said that we got to choose one activity to do. We looked at caverns and zip lining but then I saw it. Dolphins! It said that you got to do tricks and get your picture taken! I showed the flyer to my parents immediately. "Mom! Dad! Look!" I squealed, racing to them. My brother, who wasn't a fan of water said, "I wanna go too!" And then we were off. We took a shuttle to the place. I was so nervous! My heart was pounding. I finally got to meet one of my favorite animals! When we arrived, a helper asked us to get on our swim suits or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Importance Of Crime In Miami Miami, vice city, holds a million of people, events, and cultures. Sad is the part, in the southeastern of Florida, quite a few number of people incorporated in Mafia are manipulating the lives of the rest. Though in such a Metropolitan city, crimes are expected to find by, yet the city council must ensure the safety of public, its properties, and a well–established justice system. In the city of Miami may also be used sarcastically for that its residents are too scared with crimes to enjoy a peaceful sleep. Near Miami Beach, a gang of 13 criminals haunted the streets of Miami. An old woman named as Lindsey, lived nearby the residential area of Ocean Drive Miami Beach residing in a very luxurious condo with an amazing view that faces the waters of Miami shores. She was too old and her 21 years old granddaughter used to assist her for the execution of outdoor tasks, as she was an elder who could barely walk without assistance. Lindsey was capable enough to provide for the household. Her late husband who was deceased after a long–suffering illness has left her a lot of property and bank balance. She could not use much of it and her granddaughter used to live a very limited, dull, and fun–less life. Katy the granddaughter has never asked for demands other ... • 11. Saying Goodbye To A Teacher Saying goodbye to a my choir teacher They say people never know how important something is, until it's gone. When I said goodbye to my choir teacher, it opened my eyes to how influential she was. Jami Lercher pursued the job of my choir teacher freshman and sophomore year at Roseville Area High School. She played a significant role in my life as my mentor and a great friend. She also invited me to join her outside of school choir, VOX and we grew even closer through that experience. Everywhere she went, merriment and exhilaration followed her. She assisted me with the ability to read notes and read music. Unfortunately, the jubilance of the choir department would come to a halt. Mrs. Lercher received the opportunity of a lifetime and was accepted into the university of Miami Florida to pursue her doctorate degree. She would depart from RAHS, taking that merriment and exhilaration with her to Miami that she had constructed for the choir department. The choir students were grieving, but we supported her decision and knew that this would aid her immensely when she would come back to teach. The night I said goodbye to Mrs. Lercher was a night of waterworks, compliments and the hardships of expressing our goodbyes. That night my choir, Bel Canto, just finished our final concert of the year, making the waterworks pump double of what they should. The crowd roared when we finished our final song called "Sail Away". The compliments flowing from the audience's mouths about how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. `` Se Habla Espanol `` Tanya Barrientos explained her struggle with her identity growing up in her writing "Se Habla Español". Barrientos describes herself as being "Guatemalan by birth but pure gringa by circumstance" (83). These circumstances began when her family relocated to the United States when she was three years old. Once the family moved to the states, her parents only spoke Spanish between themselves. The children learned to how read, write and speak the English language to fit into society at that time in 1963. (83) Barrientos explained how society shifted and "the nation changed its views on ethnic identity" (85) after she graduated college and it came as a backlash to her because she had isolated herself from the stereotype she constructed in her head. She was insulted to be called Mexican and to her speaking the Spanish language translated into being poor. She had felt superior to Latino waitresses and their maid when she told them that she didn't speak Spanish. After the shift in society Barrientos wondered where she fit it since the Spanish language was the glue that held the new Latino American community together. Barrientos then set out on a difficult awkward journey to learn the language that others would assume she would already know. She wanted to nurture the seed of pride to be called Mexican that her father planted when her father sent her on a summer trip to Mexico City. Once Barrientos had learned more Spanish and could handle the present, past and future tenses she still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Maluma began his music career in 2010 while Pitbull began in 2001. Uniquely, both singers perform live for their fans and neither of them are retired yet. Although Maluma started out at a much later period than Pitbull, he still has the same tone as Pitbull does in his songs. Maluma and Pitbull can each carry out beautiful vocal sounds and harmonize to music wonderfully. Correspondingly, they are extremely professional singers. For example, Maluma sings with a lot of low yet powerful vocals while Pitbull sings with medium to high pitched vocals. In general, the better they sound to their audience, the more they will rise to fame. Another key point is that they both feature other artists in some of their songs. Maluma and Pitbull can influence people to learn more about their culture, learn about their musical influence, and learn about their albums and visit them live in concert to experience an amazing show. Additionally, Pitbull comes from a beautiful city with a breathtaking view of Miami's beach and Maluma comes from a place of tall buildings and artwork ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This has caused numerous reactions with the American people. One person who took notice was Miami Dolphins offensive lineman: Jonathan Martin. • 23. Stereotypes Of Hispanic Women "Yes, I'm blonde. When I started as an actor, because of the accent and my body and my personality, it was not what the stereotype of the Latina woman in Hollywood is, so they didn't know where to put me. The blond hair wasn't matching. The moment I put my hair dark, it was better for my work" (Vergara). The media tends to portray stereotypes of many different people without warnings. So, when people watch TV or listen to the radio all they get are the generalizations of these different people. One group that has been highly stereotyped and somewhat portrayed in the media are Hispanic women. How the media portrays Hispanic women is based on both gender and racial stereotypes (Correa, 2010). This portrayal of Hispanic women impacts people in many ways. Sofia Vergara's quote that was stated above is an example of the impact these stereotypes caused; it was hard for Sofia Vergara to get a job because she didn't look like the stereotypical Hispanic woman and the media continues to portray Hispanic women as such. One of the largest influences on the roles Hispanic women are expected to play is the media's portrayal of them. The media portrays Hispanic women by generalizations of how they look, how they act, and how they identify their values. Before getting into how the media portrays Hispanic women, there must be a clear outlook on the fact that there is very little representation of Hispanics in the US media. This has a large influence on how people in the US view Hispanics. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Racial Inequality In The NFL For many, speaking up for what you believe in can be difficult and risky, but ultimately worth the risk. Colin Kaepernick took this risk, by kneeling during the national anthem to stand up against " police brutality and the inequality that people of color"(NFL). With many unjust shootings and police beatings of African Americans, Kaepernick's teammate Eric Reid couldn't stand the violence anymore after "the killing of Alton Sterling in my hometown Baton Rouge, La"(Reid). Reid joined Kaepernick in taking a knee during the national anthem, in doing this Kaepernick and Reid inspired other players to raise awareness and help those in need. This decision caused huge impacts on the nation, the NFL, and the youth who look up to the players of the NFL. Racial inequality will always be a huge topic in the United States of America, and continues today to still be a huge topic. With the NFL players raising awareness by kneeling and locking arms together during the national anthem, the topic of racial inequality has gained more interest. After Kaepernick in 2016 first kneeled many other athletes and stars joined the movement to talk about the problems of racial inequality. People like Ellen DeGeneres, Zendaya, George Lopez, and many others voice their support for the players (JustJared). • 27. Video Analysis: Taiji Fishing Industry I felt like the video was very biased and one–sided. I don't personally support the slaughtering of dolphins or any other animal for that matter, but it's just like Americans to step in and change how other societies do thing for the "better". Throughout the entire video the activists in the film are making the Taiji fishing industry look like the devils spawn and the video is trying to persuade people to disagree with their methods. The video does a good job of capturing the grotesque killings of the dolphins to impose pathos into the movie to make people feel sympathetic towards the animals but they only focus on the negative aspects of the dolphin killings. I'm sure the Taiji fishing industry boosts Japans economy and therefore betters the country. The video states the 23,000 dolphins and porpoises die every year due to the Taiji slaughters, but my research shows that there are more than 42 different types of dolphins and approximately 170,243,000 dolphins still roaming the oceans today so 23,000 a year is a minuscule amount of dolphins to lose. The film makes a valid point that the dolphins are a smart race and they should be preserved and valued. But everyday dolphins and other animals are exploited in zoos and amusement parks and are kept in captivity. Ric O'Barry even talks about his own experience with a dolphin committing suicide in his arms, and this is what first peaked his interest in helping sea creatures, but he ended up in Taiji, Japan instead of ... • 29. The Physical Portrayals Of Hispanic Women In The Media The physical portrayal of Hispanic women in the media has a large influence on the Hispanic women and girls that view these portrayals. The media's physical portrayal of Hispanic women is that they are voluptuous, dark–haired, tanned skin, and petite. There are many films, TV shows, and any other media outlets that portray Hispanic women as such. Examples of these portrayals are "Modern Family," "Maid in Manhattan," and "Girl in Progress." In each of these movies or shows, the main character appears as the stereotypical Hispanic woman. This is what many Hispanic women and girls believe that the world sees them as. They also believe that this is how they should look. This especially affects adolescent girls that identify as Hispanic. "media use may play a role in the body image development of Latina adolescents" (Schooler, 2008, p. 134). Most of the time when watching television, Latinas see a white woman and their beauty standards. The difference between white women in the media as opposed to Latin women is that there is a greater variety of how white women in the U.S. look. When a Latina finally sees someone who is Latina, they expect to see themselves, instead, they see Eva Mendes, long wavy hair, curvy, and petite. When young Latin women see this, they expect themselves to be the same way. If they don't look like that, it can result in a spoiled body image of themselves. "Latina women in this sample tended to hold the lowest perceptions of their bodies, the highest awareness of Consumerism as a factor in the body/beauty standard, and scored high in racial identification" (Poran, 2002, p. 79) Latin women understand who they are and when someone is of the same background. Many are also self–conscious about their bodies, and that is likely due to the fact that not only are actresses on TV shows thin and curvy, but many commercials are about the newest way to lose weight rapidly, or what to buy to get curves. All women of any race have issues with body Image, but as a Latina, the media plays a big role in how Latinas form their body image. According to the media's portrayal of Latin women, there are two ways Latin women act. The first way is passive, pure, and dependent on men; the second way is wild, ... Both teams being in somewhat similar quarterback situations, but it didn't turn out for Lemon the way it did for Morrall. The major difference being the 1972 team made history in the league for something that is very difficult to achieve, the 2007 team made history for their team in an awful way. The stability that Don Shula provided his players for many years could have made an impact on how well his team played; compared to the instability in Miami before the 2007 season and even still to this day which can negatively impact how the players play. Coaches and players didn't go from team to team back then which provided the coaches and players more time to learn from each other. • 39. Essay On South Floria South Florida's ascendancy to the epicenter of the cruise industry began long before the modern cruise lines were born. Early in the twentieth century, a group of daring visionaries and entrepreneurs began to dream of expanding the local business community and creating new industries to take advantage of Florida's climate with its sunshine and warmth. Chief among these businesses they envisioned a winter tourism trade but to realize this dream they would require a strong transportation infrastructure. The coastal shipping trade along the United States' East Coast helped to bring the first visitors to Florida spurred on by the growing railroad empires developed by Henry Flagler and Henry B. Plant. By the 1890s, these railroad tycoons ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then in 1913, the Plant Line, now owned by Flagler's Peninsular & Occidental Steamship Company (P&O), decided to send its new 3,786–ton steamer the ss Evangeline on winter pleasure cruises. But, instead of sailing from the new ports, she cruised from Key West calling at Panama, Jamaica, and Cuba. The following winter the cruises were repeated but this time sailing from Jacksonville. All the remained was to link these new cruise efforts with the emerging South Florida ports. After World War I, a flourishing trade developed with steamers such as the 1,700 gross ton ss City of Miami and the 3,200 gross ton ss Northland, maintaining overnight runs between Miami and Havana. However, sensing that the ports still lacked a proper infrastructure to maintain the shipping industry, the first of many efforts began to improve the facilities. In Miami, a US$3 million project was undertaken in 1925 to dredge and widen the channel. Similarly, to the north, the Mayor of Hollywood was the driving force for a US$6 million project to deepen the harbor inlet, widen the turning basin and build modern 35–foot piers at Bay Mable. Completed early in 1928, it is said that more than 85 percent of the residents of Broward County turned out to witness the dedication of their new port. For many teams, the preseason simply presents an opportunity to get into shape and establish some team chemistry going into the regular season, For the Dolphins, a team clearly in rebuilding mode, the preseason holds extra importance as new Head Coach Adam Gase desperately needs to assess the team's current status and how to start putting all the pieces into place. The one thing the Dolphins succeeded at doing in 2015 was avoid major injuries on offense. He was also sacked 3 times, which follows suit with one of the Dolphins' major problems last year, the offensive line. Fortunately, they did a much better job of opening holes for the running game, which was led by Isaiah Pead with 50 yards on 10 carries. After giving up 10 first–quarter points, the defense looked sharp, shutting down the Giants' offense the rest of the way. This past week against the Dallas Cowboys was a different story. First, the good news. Tannehill played most of the game and performed pretty well. He completed 12 of 20 passes for 162 yards and 2 TDs with no interceptions and only one sack. Again. Pead looked good running the ball with 48 yards on only 4 carries. At this point, he looks like a legitimate contender to take the starting job away from preseason favorite Jay Ajayi. Now for the bad news. The defense stopped nobody. The Cowboys had 250+ yards passing, 150+ yard rushing, and seemingly scored at will against a defense that looked lost on the field. This was a huge problem for last year's squad that ended the season 6–10 because the defense couldn't keep offenses off the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Cultural Competence Work With Latino Americans Lum–Ch. 11 Review: The purpose of chapter 11 in Lum (2011) is to discuss cultural competence work with Latino Americans. The growth of the Latino population in the United States has been greatly increasing. As of 2008, 15.1% of the United States population is Latino. Some concerns that elderly Latinos may face are: "family roles, health, caregiving, end of life issues, protective factors, and effective interventions" (p. 309). Many of the Central American Latino grandparents have not completed high school, which has left them unemployed. Social workers who serve this group, should become more aware of the historical discrimination that this population has faced. Reflection: Due to the fact that the Latino population is still growing, it is important to consider the history of discrimination that they have faced due to America. Something that I found interesting is the ethical issues that were listed off. For example, making sure that they understand the informed consent. If it seems as if they do not understand it–do not let them sign and do not assume the participants either. Most people in our society do not even read the informed consent and it is typically not a problem for them. It is also important to understand the heterogeneity of the Latino population. Latino in itself is a diverse population. Where I come from, I see a lot of racism among this group. There are a lot of people in my hometown who strongly dislike this population. • 45. Racism In Racism Racism has always been a problem with this country, but lately people are starting to express themselves and their ethnicity. Football is a big deal to this country because it is our sport. NFL players are speaking out, well actually they are standing out to show America that they are not okay with how they are being treated. When a national figure such as an NFL player refuses to stand for the national anthem, it shocks people into paying attention and generates conversation. Three reasons why athletes should kneel down for the national anthem are they should protest to show their concerns, it's not an official rule, and NFL players should have a right of freedom. First, athletes should protest their concerns. For example, Kaepernick kneeling was to bring attention to police brutality against African–Americans. According to Autumn Allison, the author of "Why do NFL players protest during national anthem? A timeline: From Kaepernick to Trump" there have been significant words used disrespectfully. Trump made an extremely decisive statement about the players who kneel, calling them an unnecessary word and that they should get fired." In addition, Trump said that kneeling has nothing to do with race, but it actually does from the injustice in the country. Many players protest because they are not being treated fairly, so they're expressing their feelings. Secondly It's not an official rule for NFL players to stand during the national anthem. For example The Seattle Seahawks said as a team "Out of love for our country and in honor of the sacrifices made on our behalf, we unite to oppose those that would deny our most basic freedoms." According to "Anthem kneeling isn't aimed at veterans, and other NFL protest misconceptions" by Josh Hafner, it is stated that kneeling down is not just respect for the country but Colin Kaepernick said "I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color." In addition, Smith and Carlos (two NFL players) raised their fists in the air to protest against social injustice, racism, and discrimination during a time of high tension in the United States. • 47. Tax Base Miami Tax Base Miami – MLA People living in Miami are in the face of danger, and for the most part they are not aware of it. Due to high population, Miami is the fourth largest city to become affected by sea level rise. (Ankum et al.) In the next 32–50 years, sea level is expected to rise by as much as two feet. (Ankum et al.) This two–foot rise will have detrimental effects on the urban settings of Miami. The amount of soil erosion that is undergoing at our beaches will greatly increase if a two–foot rise occurs. At a four–foot rise, road connectivity would begin to become affected. At a six–foot rise, Southern Florida would no longer be habitable as it would, for the most part, be underwater. Not much is being invested in mitigation efforts, most of what is being done are short term solutions. Instead of coming up with ideas to prevent and try to slow down the effects of climate change on our environment, we are focusing on ideas such as building up a sea wall, relocating power plants, and redesigning structures. Climate isn't the only thing changing, our environments are changing too. Our lakes are becoming polluted and eutrophic (Scavia et al.), which causes the overgrowth of algae and death of many of the species found within the lakes. This powerhouse of a marine mammal can swim at speeds of up to thirty–five miles per hour and renowned for the fact that they can jump out of the water, a feat meant to both conserve energy and to get places quicker. When they swim, they are as graceful as a swan and as playful as a little child. Well, read on to find out more about these amazing creatures. When you see a dolphin, you are in awe, but what sort of questions do you ask? How do they swim so fast, what do they eat, where do they live? First, the anatomy of a dolphin. We'll start with a dolphin's teeth. Dolphins have eighty to one–hundred cone–shaped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dolphins, like most all sea animals, have fins that help them to swim quickly and steadily. They have three different types of fins on their bodies. They are called Pectoral Fins, a Dorsal Fin, and Flukes. Pectoral Fins are to the dolphins what arms are to us. They are situated around where arms would be on a dolphin and these fins help the dolphin to steer in the water. The Dorsal Fin is attached to the top of the dolphin. This stabilizes the dolphin while it swims. Without it, the dolphin will roll upside down or do a barrel roll every time it pumps its tail up and down. The Flukes are the fins on the Dolphin's tail. They provide the thrust needed to swim forward. It may seem weird, but the bones in a Dolphin's Pectoral Fin look like they were originally hands, so that must mean that the dolphin is descended from land dwelling animals. When a dolphin looks for and finds food, one question might come up. How can dolphins find out where food is from so far away in cloudy water. The answer is the same as bats...Echolocation! Echolocation is a series of high frequency clicks that they send out from an organ in their head called the melon (not a honeydew or cantaloupe). The sounds travel through the water and when they hit against something solid, the sound bounces back as an echo. The dolphin then picks up the sound in its lower jaw. After the sound is picked up, it is sent to the Dolphin's middle ear, then to the inner ear, and finally up to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 59. Miami Dolphins Some say that the third time is the charm, and Isaiah Pead is proving it. The Miami Dolphins are thirsty for a running back, currently with six of them active on the roster. The Dolphins' stable of back include veteran Arian Foster, who Miami signed in free agency, last year's fifth–round draft pick Jay Ajayi, this year's draft selection Kenyan Drake and the familiar faces around Miami, Daniel Thomas and Damien Williams. But none of those backs are turning heads in the preseason like Pead. Pead has had two previous stops, two full seasons with the St. Louis Rams and a three–week stay with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now he's heating things up in Miami, pushing hard to receive starting reps. Last weekend, Miami lost to the Dallas Cowboys 41–14, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He broke two–time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin's all–time rushing record at Eastmoor Academy, a record that stood for decades. Pead further made a name for himself while playing for the University of Cincinnati, leading the Bearcats to a 12–1 record and an appearance in the 2009– 10 Sugar Bowl. With past injuries hindering him from showcasing his full abilities, Pead seems to be in full stride early in camp. He shared his thoughts on his play through the first few preseason games. "I just came out to play football," Pead said. "It's another preseason game. I've been having a good camp, and I just wanted to put something on film." Preseason football is filled with job stability and cuts, but the only cuts we should see regarding Pead are on the field. Despite a limited showing in Miami's third preseason game, Pead looks like he could be a solid contributor with his latest opportunity in the league. The Dolphins need all the help they can get after Lamar "Miller Time" Miller left for Houston. Miami stadium has a major new look, and so does the team's backfield as the Dolphins picked up a 17–6 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in their dress rehearsal Thursday night. Miami is looking to make the playoffs this season as a strong team in the AFC East, and Pead may be able to help undertake that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 61. Doug Martin Interview In an interview with Rick Stroud, Bucs GM Jason Licht was not one bit shy when he pointed the finger at the Buccaneers veteran running back, Doug Martin. Why would he hold his tongue? Martin received a big contract extension, after coming in second in the league in rushing yards a few years back, to thank the Bucs, Martin got himself suspended for P.E.D. Martin was never the same and many may even go as far as to say that he hasn't been the same since first being injured following his amazing rookie season. Disregarding his 2015 season when he was atop the NFL. Six seasons, with four of them under 500 yards and two of them over 1400 yards, has allowed ample time for Doug Martin to get back into the swing of things. He simply has not gotten his groove back. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Looking back at his stats you can see that post–2012 have been nothing to brag about. (Again disregarding his 2015 season) With only 26 total rushing TD's in six seasons and only 2 receiving, it is time for the next man to step up. I have defended Doug Martin until I was blue in the face and my fingertips callused from the countless times I've had to argue his worth. I have to give my fingers a rest. Licht argued but did not make it an excuse that this season Martin had a hard time getting the run game going due to the fact that he was not the same Martin as before. I agree, however, Martin has not been Martin for a long time. I believe that Barber is the new Sherriff in town, and I have faith that he will step up to the plate and be the back we need. He is more than capable. Allowing Barber the chance to start next season leaves the option to trade Doug Martin. If anyone is willing to risk the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. A Cultural Identity Crisis : Jose Garcia Case study four focuses on a cultural identity crisis from the perspective of a young man named Jose Garcia. Unlike the previous identity cases, this case deals with Jose's adaptation of another cultural identity leading him to perceive his true Latino heritage as inferior to white identity. Throughout his school career, Jose perceived himself as a white person; he only identified as Latino when he thought it would be beneficial. He thought that just because he and his family did not fall into cultural stereotypes then that meant that they were somewhat superior to those Latinos who did. Most of all, Jose thought of himself as superior to all Latinos, including his family, because he possessed the characteristics of a white person which, to him, was the best person that one could be America. As a result, Jose developed a deep racism towards his own people that he did not overcome until later in his life. Jose's issues started while he was in elementary school. At school, he felt safe in the presence of the serene white community. When he went home, on the contrary, he mostly feared his colored community and hostile environment. Therefore, he cherished the safety and comfort of being in a predominantly white environment more than being in his own cultural environment. He also viewed all Latinos as poor and below white standards because that was the only way he saw them throughout his home life. Essentially Jose generalized his entire culture based upon the lack of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. Descriptive Essay On The Ameur Of The Sea It had been a beautiful morning and the boat, Grandeur of the Sea, was rocking from the waves. I could smell the fresh air of the ocean. All around me, people were hustling with their families to get ready for their excursions for the day. The boat had just arrived at Nassau, one of the islands in the Bahamas. We had eaten a big "all you could eat" breakfast. My family and I were ready to get off the boat, and head to our excursion to swim with dolphins. I was so excited to swim with dolphins, because I want to be a marine biologist. I've always felt a connect, and a love towards the ocean and the creatures that live within its glorious vastness. I love dolphins because of their gracefulness, and intelligence. I've always found dolphins playful, and curious manners fascinating. So, to finally get a chance to interact and swim with them was a dream came true. To get off the boat, we went through security, and then met our group outside of the boat. We rode on a catamaran, through the crystal– clear water to the beautiful resort on Balmoral Island. The ride to the island was breathtaking. I could see stunning coral reefs beneath the boat. When we got to the island we stood in line to register and pay. After we paid, they took us into a class room, where they told tell us information about the animals they had around the resort. The resort had many dolphins and some big sting rays that were available to swim with. They showed us the proper and improper ways to pet and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Personal Narrative: The City Of Miami One stroll through the streets of Miami, in the USA brings up mixed feelings – on one hand you can call it modern and laidback, and could also draw comparisons, with say, New York for that matter; for the most liberal city in the USA. Having said that, on the other hand, it also does have a safety worry and a tempestuous past attached to it. Almost every single public area you set foot in, there is evidence that compliments the fact, amidst the strict vigil at every corner.
