Docker
Docker is an open platform for developing, shipping, and running applications. It allows developers to package applications with all their dependencies into standardized executable units called containers that can run on any Linux server. Containers provide faster delivery of applications, easier deployment and scaling, and higher density by running more workloads on a single machine compared to traditional virtual machines. Docker uses a layered filesystem and images to create lightweight containers that share resources and isolate processes. Common tools used with Docker include Docker Engine, Docker Compose, Docker Machine, and Docker Swarm.

OpenNebulaConf 2013 - OpenNebula in a Multi-Customer-Environment by Bernd Erk
NETWAYS is using OpenNebula in their multi-customer cloud for years now. Having the roots in a typical XEN replacement, more and more cloud functionalities are used in production now. The system is heavily coupled with Puppet and all other internal systems like monitoring, backup and accounting. The talk will focus on the hurdles taken in the last years starting with various design considerations and different steps made to achieve the “final” architecture NETWAYS is using today. It’ will also give a detailed view onthe current setup and connected subsystems.

OpenCms Days 2013 - Gradle based OpenCms build automated setup
The build process for OpenCms 9 is using Gradle ( www.gradle.org ) instead of Apache Ant. The great advantage of the Gradle build process is an integrated dependency management so that libraries required to build OpenCms are downloaded automatically.
Moreover, OpenCms 9 provides a script based setup in addition to the traditional web interface. This allows the installation of OpenCms directly from the command line.
In this 2 part workshop, Tobias will first demonstrate how the new Gradle based build process in OpenCms 9 works. He will explain how to configure popular IDEs such as Eclipse to build the OpenCms core as well as individual module extensions. Tobias will then present the automatic setup process and show how to configure various options for the OpenCms installation.

Because it is completely hypervisor agnostic, fully supports VMware, and is easy to install, maintain and use within existing VMware environments, OpenNebula is widely used as an open alternative to VMware vCloud at significantly lower costs. Some of our users also see OpenNebula as a migration tool that allows them to perform a smooth transition from VMware to more open hypervisor alternatives like KVM. In other words OpenNebula leverages existing VMware infrastructure, protecting IT investments, and at the same time avoids future vendor lock-in, strengthening the negotiating position of the enterprise.

Warden @ Meet magento Romania 2021

Drupal upgrades and migrations. BAD Camp 2013 version
Originally presented at PNW Drupal Summit 2013. Revised for BADCamp 2013.
You have an aging Drupal 6 or even a Drupal 5 site. You know it's time to move up to Drupal 7. Now, how? There are two main ways to get there. You can perform a traditional upgrade, or you can migrate the data from the old site to a brand new site. In this session I will show how you can use these methods and discuss their benefits and drawbacks, including a thought process to go through when evaluating these options, drawing from some recent projects.
Drupal theming - a practical approach (European Drupal Days 2015)
This document discusses best practices for Drupal theming. It covers topics like directory layout, basic theme elements, render arrays, hooks, overriding templates and functions, common mistakes, and more. In this session I will show how you can use these methods and discuss their benefits and drawbacks, including a thought process to go through when evaluating these options, drawing from some recent projects.

I've been building Drupal sites for a number of years and have a broad experience building Drupal sites with various levels of complexity. I often work with other agencies to build Drupal sites or to migrate existing sites and as a result I will often see some very common mistakes and errors that shouldn't be happening. Due to Drupal's popularity I also see Drupal sites in the wild and can clearly see the same mistakes going on there as well.
During this talk I'll show some basic site building tips as well as some more complex and technical strategies that will make your Drupal sites better and more maintainable. Rather than just show you what to do, I'll also be explaining why doing those things are important and how developers and their websites will benefit from them. Although I'll be mainly concentrating on Drupal 7, some of these techniques are also applicable to Drupal 8.

Building and Maintaining a Distribution in Drupal 7 with Features
Drupal 7 allows to easily build and maintain distributions, i.e. repeatable website templates; you can benefit from this in all cases, whether you aim at large-scale deployments or even at maintaining a single website.
We will show how to package core and contributed modules in a distribution by using a Makefile and a profile and keeping them up-to-date during the whole development cycle.
Then you will learn how to use Code-Driven Development to store all settings in a sustainable way: use the Features module to easily describe configuration in code, a proper separation between Features to make your code reusable and extendible, a well-thought design of Features to create easier development patterns, CTools and Exportables to put your configuration in code even when a module does not support it natively.
Last, we will see how the distributions update mechanism allows you to create a new version of your distribution for easy and painless configuration updates of a live site.

Most people think "adopting containers" means deploying Docker images to production. In practice, adopting containers in the continuous integration process provides visible benefits even if the production environment are VMs.
In this webinar, we will explore this pattern by packaging all build tools inside Docker containers.
Container-based pipelines allow us to create and reuse building blocks to make pipeline creation and management MUCH easier. It's like building with Legos instead of clay.
This not only makes pipeline creation and maintenance much easier, it also solves a myriad of classic CI/CD problems such as:
Putting an end to version conflicts in build machines
Eliminating build machine management in general
Step portability and maintenance
In a very real sense, Docker-based pipelines reflect lessons learned from microservices in CI/CD pipelines. We will share tips and tricks for running these kinds of pipelines while using Codefresh as a CI/CD solution as it fully supports pipelines where each build step is running on its own Docker image.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
