Drafting the Double-Page Spread
1. Formulatean idea
I want to produce an interview with an up-and-coming, young, teenage artist who is new to
the industry and is growing bigger rather quickly. It will include questions aimed toward her
lifestyle, how she feels about her new found fame and also includes a Q&A from their fans.
My target audience are 11-20 year old YAKS which would typically mean that my language
will be less formal however because I am using Q as influence I will make sure that my
writing doesn’t become too chatty or informal and my questions will not include too much
slang. The genre of my music magazine is Pop/Rock therefore I will make sure that my artist
is from that genre and their music is appropriate. In the typography I will make sure that I
use font styles and colours that match my audience questionnaire and target audience (cool
tones and formal writing-Arial).
2. Giveyouridea anangle.
Because this up-and-coming artist will be becoming to get more popular, more and more
magazine companies will be producing articles/ interviews with them, therefore I will need
to make sure that my story will have an original angle. For example I will try to avoid asking
to many ‘general’ questions and include more questions that the fans will actually want to
know. To help that I will include a Twitter Q&A in which the fans tweet questions using a
hashtag and the artist will respond to them. This will increase the amount of people reading
because they will get a chance to find out exactly what they personally want to know.
3. Create an outline
Firstly I will ask questions based on their overall life at the moment and how manic these
past few months have been, very general questions about their career at the moment.
Secondly I will ask questions more personal such as their life growing up, inspirations e.c.t.
Then I will begin the Q&A from fans on twitter. Finally I will include questions about the
future and where they aim to precede next for example goals, artists they want to collab
with and what we should expect to see next.
4. Create a headline
Headline Ideas:
 Exclusive Interview With Annie
Myatt
 Myatt Taking Over
 Annie Myatt:  dsdg
5. Grab the reader’s attentionwith a dynamitestand-firstparagraph
First I will write a quick paragraph about Annie and her life at the moment. For example
“You might think that Annie Myatt’s new found fame might be getting to her head, however
it turns out the new up-and-coming artist is still just an ordinary girl at heart.”
The first set of questions will be about the artists life at the moment such as “Your life has
been pretty mad these past few months, How has it felt?”, “you mentioned the fans, what’s
it been like to be asked for photos and autographs”, “met many celebrities yet?”
Questions like that.
6. Proceed with writingthe body ofyourtext
I will then go on to ask more personal questions about the stars life at home and what it was
like growing up. For example “so you seem very down to earth, what was it like growing
up?”, “who was your inspiration, musically and generally?”, “where did your inspiration
come from for your EP?”. I will then go on to ask questions from twitter, “@anniemyattfan
what is your favourite album?, “@lucywalkerxo will you do a meet and greet soon?”
7. Composethe conclusion
I will then finish by asking questions about the future such as “5 years time, what do you
want to be doing?”, “can we expect to see an album? Tour? Collabs?” questions like that. I
will also include links to where you can find Annie such as social media and where you can
purchase her EP.
