Mastitis induced by Prototheca have become emerging diseases over the last 10-15 years, evolving endemically in some farms, and leading to important economic losses.The diseased cows eliminate the algae by milk, with the risk of transmission to humans, which is why protothecosis is part of the zoonosis group.Many antibiotics and antifungals have been tried in the treatment of mastitis, but without result, even though the sensitivity of isolated strains was detected in vitro.In the present study we present the antibiotics and antifungals used by various authors in the treatment of mastitis with Prototheca spp, as well as the results obtained.Among antibiotics, good and consistent efficacy was obtained with: gentamicin, neomycin, kanamycin, colistin. In antifungals, good results include: amphotericin B, miconazole, mycostatin, ketoconazole, econazole, itraconazole, batrafen and clotrimazole.It has been concluded that mastitis produced by Prototheca species (especially P. zopfii) are incurable, and the slaughter of sick animals is recommended.In order to avoid spreading within the herd, monitoring will be carried out by applying a screening program and avoiding contaminated sources from the environment.

We report the case of a two-year-old boy with hyper eosinophilia who presented with a swelling on his left scapular that had persisted for more than three weeks. A second-stage larva of Wohlfahrtia magnifica was found with associated bacterial organisms such as Proteus vulgaris, Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis, leading to the diagnosis of cutaneous myiasis. Following removal of the larva and secondary bacterial therapy, the clinical and hematological manifestations returned to normal. Diagnosis of myiasis and associated secondary infections should always be kept in mind in the event of clinical signs of furuncular lesions, pain, fever, exudation which may be accompanied by eosinophilia.

The Assessment of Human-Snake Interaction and its Outcome in the City of KumbaAI Publications
Throughout history humans have had an uneasy relationship with serpents. Snakes are animals that fascinate many people while frightening others, good or bad, most people have strong feelings about snakes, but few people remain neutral. Most human-snake interactions had lead to the destruction of snakes due to human inability to control fear and panic. The indiscriminate killing of snakes for presumed human safety has drastically reduced the population of many snake species to the level of extirpation. The objective of this, however, is to examine the human interaction with snakes in city of Kumba. To get this survey done, a total number of two hundred and fifty questionnaires were administered to a randomly selected population sample in the study area. The results of the survey revealed that the prevention of snake attacks and the opinion of people on snake population management is significantly related (X2 = 11.069 df=4, P<0.05).The importance of snakes and their medical need for snake venom has showed a significant agreement (X2 = 12.045 df=2, P<0.05). Also, the prevention of snake attacks and the area snakes are easily sighted showed a significant association (X2 = 29.205 df=4, P<0.05). In addition, there is a significant link between the snake-bite treatment and its prevention (R2 = 0.312, P<0.05). Moreso, a respondent score of 39.30% is recorded upon the knowledge of venomous snakes. Furthermore, the study recorded a respondent score of 39.30% on the preferable use of traditional treatment on snake-bite victim than the expected medical treatment (31.84%), creating an understanding that the people of Kumba are still very much dependent on the ancient methods of treating snake-bite victims. The Kumba city dwellers need education on the snake behaviour, venomous and non venomous species around their area and the ecological and medical importance of snakes.

Toxocara vitulorum infection has been reported to have a cosmopolitan distribution in whole of the tropical and subtropical regions of the world with a moderate, continental climate. Parasitic diseases of dairy animals are a universal problem and considered one of the major obstacles in health and production performance of animals. Retarded growth, poor production of milk, meat, poor quality of skin and hides are known harmful effects of parasitic infections in bovines. This study was aimed to determine prevalence of Toxocara vitulorum in Ambo area Sankalefaris peasant association in cattle of different Age and sex group. Across sectional study was conducted to investigate the prevalence of bovine ascariasis infection on 243 animals in Senkale Faris peasant association in Ambo district west Shewa zone. To achieve this; floatation techniques was employed. Based on this method about the overall prevalence was 243(63%) of which ages, and sex was a determinant factor Toxocara vitulorum. The known prevalence with age and sex category was <3 month,122(68%), 3-6 month, 70(61%), 6 month 30(12.3%) and 1 year 21(8.6%) p-value 0.000, from this we can say age of cattle has highly significant on enhancing the disease. In conclusion the result of the present study has revealed that there is high prevalence of ascariasis in calves, hence, appropriate treatment, control and owner’s awareness, should be implemented so that to increase the productivity of
cattle’s in the study area.

Myiasis is the infestation by larvae of flies. Myiasis may involve the skin, eyes, nasal passages, gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts. Cases of urinary myiasis are very rare mostly occurs in immunocompromised hosts, those with previous urologic instrumentation or those with poor socioeconomic status. We present a case of successful outpatient treatment of urinary myiasis in two immunocompetent females without prior urological history.

The primary goal of the present book is to produce a comprehensive text that fully integrates the latest concepts and techniques in management of odontogenic infections. The main aim is to provide the readers with an update information regarding pathophysiology, clinical and radiographic presentation, microbiology, diagnosis, management, and complications of odontogenic infections. Accordingly, the text has been divided into six chapters. Chapter one is concerned with oral microbiology and immunology. Chapter two is dealing with the pathophysiology of odontogenic infections. In chapter three, management of odontogenic infections is presented. In chapter four, antibiotic therapy of odontogenic infections is given. Chapter five deals with life-threatening complications. In chapter six osteomyelitis of the jaws is discussed.

Tropical diseases are the diseases that are most prevalent in tropical regions of the world. There are around 14 tropical diseases that causes great morbidity but still ranks low in the international health agendas and being "neglected" since it is confined to certain regions and does not spread across the globe. These diseases are eliminated in developed countries but are prevalent in developing countries because of improper sanitation.Here,I hope I have covered almost all the neglected tropical diseases.
ABSTRACT- Diseases caused by mosquitoes have been a threat all around the globe since ages and humans have been coping with the disease spread in various possible ways. Mosquitoes are ectoparasites, which are vectors to numerous of diseases caused in humans as well as animals, and birds. Through the diseases they carry, it may lead to severe illness and even death. Culex quinquefasciatus is one of the mosquito species, which is a potential vector of several arboviruses like West Nile virus (WNV), Rift Valley fever virus, avian pox and protozoa like Plasmodium relictum, which causes bird malaria. This mosquito exists throughout the tropics and the lower latitudes of temperate regions. Also, it can transmit several other arboviruses in the laboratory conditions. The present study is an attempt to review the bioecology, medical importance, and impact of phytoextracts on the life of Culex quinquefasciatus. It acts as an important bridge since it bridges between different reservoir/amplifier hosts to humans because of its encounter with different vertebrates. It also forms an ecological bridge between the urban, periurban and rural areas, which leads to its presence and adaptability in diverse ecological conditions. Emerging as a smart vector because of the features like-adaptive fitness, ecological plasticity, invasive behaviour and high reproductive potential, this mosquito possesses the necessary capability for disease transmission by establishing an effective vector-host transmission cycle for diverse pathogens in variable environments. Thus, in the changing ecological conditions also this mosquito might enhance its epidemiological importance in the near future as a smart vector even for those pathogens, which are presently not even having any public health importance. Hence, studies are being made to find out and prepare plants based environment friendly formulations in order to target this organism because this species may develop resistance to the chemical insecticides due to its high resistivity and adaptability. CASE REPORT

examination, it was noticed that few parasites were looking
