Deer Park High School is one of 14 campuses in Deer Park ISD. The campus serves
  predominantly white, middle-class families. They serve 3000 students in grades
10-12. They have a low socioeconomic status of 43% of the population. They also
      service 24 ELL students, 49 Gifted and Talented students, 45 504-identified
            students, and 80 students who are serviced through special education.
Deer Park High School according
to the data collected has various
instructional needs. Programs or
strategies are being developed
and introduced to the campus at
our particular school. The needs
are in the area of math and
science. Especially with our
economically disadvantaged and
Hispanic population in two
academic areas. They are
experiencing a downward trend
in their ELA scores.
So how do we diffuse innovation?

              We have developed and introduced new
              strategies involving technology and the
              delivery of curriculum to students.
              •   Teachers will integrate technology into
                  their daily/weekly curriculum, which will
                  be monitored by IT specialists and
                  administration on campus.
              •   Social Studies department will cover
                  basic technology to integrate into their
                  daily lesson plans.
              •   Science laptops and Pasco will be
                  utilized throughout the year to enhance
                  learning, especially with economically
                  disadvantaged students.
              •   Students will be exposed to real world
                  practical application of technology
                  through full implementation of the
                  Synergistic labs.
•   Teachers will provide one-on-one
    training with our CTIS (campus
    technology integration specialist)
    to ensure they have the necessary
    skills to properly engage our
    students.

•   Core teachers will meet weekly
    with CTIS department to integrate
    lesson plans that utilize equipment
    that is being emphasized in our
    district (document camera, Wiki
    boards, clickers, Aware data
    collection).

  • 3. Deer Park High School is one of 14 campuses in Deer Park ISD. The campus serves predominantly white, middle-class families. They serve 3000 students in grades 10-12. They have a low socioeconomic status of 43% of the population. They also service 24 ELL students, 49 Gifted and Talented students, 45 504-identified students, and 80 students who are serviced through special education.
  • 4. Deer Park High School according to the data collected has various instructional needs. Programs or strategies are being developed and introduced to the campus at our particular school. The needs are in the area of math and science. Especially with our economically disadvantaged and Hispanic population in two academic areas. They are experiencing a downward trend in their ELA scores.
  • 5. So how do we diffuse innovation? We have developed and introduced new strategies involving technology and the delivery of curriculum to students. • Teachers will integrate technology into their daily/weekly curriculum, which will be monitored by IT specialists and administration on campus. • Social Studies department will cover basic technology to integrate into their daily lesson plans. • Science laptops and Pasco will be utilized throughout the year to enhance learning, especially with economically disadvantaged students. • Students will be exposed to real world practical application of technology through full implementation of the Synergistic labs.

Teachers will provide one-on-one training with our CTIS (campus technology integration specialist) to ensure they have the necessary skills to properly engage our students. • Core teachers will meet weekly with CTIS department to integrate lesson plans that utilize equipment that is being emphasized in our district (document camera, Wiki boards, clickers, Aware data collection).

  1. The student population is 4.8% is African-American, 51.7 %, 1.6% Asian, 41.7% Hispanic. We have 47% male and 53% female’s students, with a low socioeconomic status of over 43% of our population. The staff is 2.3% African-American, 85% Anglo, 2.3% Asian, and 9.5% Hispanic
