Relationship Between Montag And Faber
Faber teaches Montag that books should be digested and then read thoroughly. Then once a person
does that they should use what they have learned and apply it to their own life and actions. Faber
shows this to Montag because Montag thinks that he just needs to read books to fill the emptiness he
feels inside. Faber explains to him that it isn t books Montag is looking for but the teachings or lessons
in those books are what he is looking for to fill his unhappiness. Faber doesn t just teach Montag to
read but how to use what he is reading and apply it. Montag and Faber start to converse about how
they will bring books back to be relevant. Montag comes up with a kind of outlandish idea to plant
books in firefighters homes and get them burned

What Is The Great Debate 2016
Running head: The Great Debate 2016: Marijuana Legalization 1 THE GREAT DEBATE 2016:
MARIJUANA LEGALIZATION 9 The Great Debate 2016: Marijuana Legalization Francie DeSalvio
Middlesex Community College Introduction On November 8th 2016 this country will elect its 45th
President. There will also be a record number of marijuana initiatives on November ballots across the
country. Medical Marijuana questions will be offered to voters in four states; Arkansas, Florida,
Montana and North Dakota. Five States will be voting on whether or not to allow legal recreational
marijuana laws. Arizona, California, Maine, Massachusetts and Nevada. Twenty four states currently
have medical marijuana laws. This current list dates back to 1996, with the first state being California.
Four states have passed recreational marijuana laws. Washington and Colorado in 2012, followed by
Alaska and Oregon in 2015. Only nine states throughout the United States have prohibited use of any
kind, recreational or medical. Looking at these numbers, one would assume that the trend to passage is
on the positive. If this is true, why the deep divide in poll numbers in regard to this question?
Following the state wide passage of recreational use in Colorado in 2012, one county in Colorado,
Pueblo county has now gathered enough signatures to allow the following question: whether to
terminate recreational marijuana sales and operations. Could this be a trend to watch in the future,

An Evidence Vitro For The Influence Of Bisphenol A On Uterine
Synopsis of An evidence in vitro for the influence of bisphenol A on uterine leiomyoma 1.
Introduction
Uterine fibroids are the most common noncancerous growths of the uterus also known as leiomyomas
or myomas. They are not usually associated with an increased risk of uterine cancer and almost never
develop into cancer but are considered as a common cause of hysterectomy.
Gynecological researchers consider that the increase in the incidence of this type of tumor is related to
the presence of exogenous estrogens in the environment, classifying these uterine fibroids as
hormonally responsive tumors.
The use of phenolic estrogens in the manufacture of plastic, resins, and several others, created a risk
for the human and environment since the exposure and pollution due to these chemicals has increased
significantly. Among these phenolic estrogens is Bisphenol A (BPA) which is considered to influence
the development of uterine fibroids. However, the role of environment estrogens in the promotion of
the growth of uterine fibroids, and its mechanism of action are not completely established.
The authors of this paper performed a series of evaluations and observations expecting to identify the
effect and mechanism of BPA on uterine leiomyoma (UL) cells. In this study UL cells were exposed to
different concentrations of BPA to observe the cell, the protein expression was monitored for changes
in expression of estrogen receptor alpha (ERα), insulin like growth factor 1 (IGF 1)

Science Fiction, Melodrama and Western Intersect in David Lynch s Dune
A genre is a grouping of works, in this context a grouping of films, that are somehow similar or related
in content or style. Genres are not strictly uniform over a period of time and do allow for growth and
adaptation of their definitive characteristics. As the film industry has developed through the past
century, various genres of films have emerged and are still evolving. Aspects of genres have been
redefined and intermingled through the history of film. There have also been, throughout the
progression of filmmaking, films which do not strictly fall into one genre or which combine elements
of several genres. David Lynch s 1984 film Dune is a fascinating case ... Show more content on

Melodrama, as a film genre, is deeply rooted in the institution of the family and various incarnations
and evolved states of the family unit. Familial issues arise more often in science fiction than has been
widely acknowledged. The futuristic universe of Dune and all of the action of the film is motivated by
inter and intra familial conflicts and resolutions. Science fiction, at times, appears to be merely a
scientific or futuristic setting for the same kind of melodrama film that has been made for years.
However, according to Westfahl, science fiction reconstructed melodrama in a manner which
complicated and undermined its traditional clarity (193). Thus whereas in a melodrama such as The
Cobweb, the initial conflict of the narrative is merely left unresolved (but on an optimistic beat), in the
science fiction melodrama, the film is ended with a hopelessly compromised happy ending (Westfahl,
203). Such is the case with Dune: as the film closes, rain pours down on the desert planet. The rain is
meant to represent a positive miracle and something that is desirable, but the fact that rain would turn
the desert sand to mud, potentially drowning and killing the giant worms and thus ending all spice
production is ignored. The ending leaves the film on a happy note, but the ending has not resolved the
film: it had added more conflict to be resolved. Dune is

Why Is Custer Defeated
The most significant figure as to why Custer was defeated at the battle of little Big Horn was that
General Terry had divided his force. He sent Custer and the 7th cavalry to fight the battle, which was a
smaller number than he could have sent. This meant that there were fewer men. To make things worse,
Custer then divided the men again, into 4 groups, the mule train, Bentine s group, Reno s group, and
Custer s group. This caused them to be outnumbered by the Indians even more, resulting in the loss of
the Battle. Another key reason why Custer was defeated in the battle was that Custer had ignored
warning from Indians scouts, who had told him not to attack, as the Indian tribe was bigger and more
powerful. Custer ignored this information,

Visual Agnosia
Agnosia is a loss of ability to recognize objects, persons, sounds, shapes, or smells. The specific sense
is not defective nor is there any significant memory loss. It is usually associated with a brain injury or
neurological illness. There are 3 forms of Agnosia: Visual Agnosia. A person cannot recognize people
or objects even though there is no abnormality of the eyes or the visual system. Auditory Agnosia. A
person cannot hear things such as words, environmental sounds or music, but can hear other sounds.
Somatosensory Agnosia. A person cannot tell what an object is by touching it. People with agnosia do
not suffer from general memory loss. Patients may have visual agnosia with or without the other forms

How They Dress In Lucy Research Paper
How they Dress: In Lucy the outfits are very generic or what you would expect at the time. The girls
would dress up to look cute and nice and the men would be in suits and usually look very formal. In
Modern family they all would dress sort of like how we would. Very casually and no one really sticks
out from one another when it would come to comparing clothes.
Role of men/women: The roles in I Love Lucy would also be something that you would expect for the

George Orwell 1984 The New American Library Copyright 1961 George Orwell George Orwell,
whose real name was Eric Blair, was born in Bengal, India, in 1903. When he was eight years old, as it
was customary, his mother brought him back to England to be educated. He was sent to a boarding
school on the south coast, a school whose students were sons of the upper class. He was allowed in
with lower tuition and not being from a wealthy background, he was subject to snobbery of the others
at the school. In 1917 he went to Eton on a scholarship and he enjoyed himself, making friends and

Two Minute Hates. In this period of time, work ceased and everyone gathered around a telescreen,
large, flat television screens that pervaded Oceania. Goldstein appeared on the telescreen and
everyone was to scream and mock this man, for he was not right. A young woman, Julia, instigates a
liaison between herself and Winston. Rebelling against Big Brother, they make love, which Winston
believes is a severe thoughtcrime. He felt that sexual relationships accompanying love would result in
a loyalty between individuals that is contrary to the desires of the Party. They then rent an apartment
and take comfort that O Brien, a vigorous, intelligent man of mysteriously high rank in the Inner
Party, is their friend. O Brien lets Winston read a seditious book. This book describes the relationships
of Oceania with Eastasia and Eurasia. Once O Brien had enough evidence to convict Winston and
Julia, the two were arrested in their rented room. They were imprisoned in the Ministry of Love where
O Brien put Winston through the first two stages of his retraining. Over the nine months of
rehabilitation he learned to love O Brien and they conversed as if friends. The last stage came in the
dreaded Room 101, where Winston was made to face what he secretly feared most, rats. He betrays

Beowulf, Christianity, and Paganism Essay
Beowulf, Christianity, and Paganism
The poem Beowulf is a renowned story that displays many different surroundings and religious
beliefs. Some may believe the story of Beowulf portrays pagan beliefs or customs and others believe
that the poem is more in agreement with Christian ethnicity. The author of Beowulf uses both
Christian and pagan elements in the poem to define the heroic warrior, Beowulf, and the evil dragons.
After reading Beowulf the author clearly shows how Beowulf is a man who is filled with Christian
customs and is willing to die and defend the world against evil using the help of God.
Beowulf s courage and faith can be seen throughout the entire poem. The author shows what the other
characters thought of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This quote clearly shows the reference back to the Bible. It explains how the author uses Grendel as
one of the offspring s of Cain whom killed his brother Abel. Beowulf was the one warrior who was
able to stop Grendel. Beowulf travels to Grendel s lair in the marsh with some of his finest soldiers.
When Beowulf and his men met Grendel the weapons of Beowulf s army became dull from a spell.
The weapons could not scratch the skin of Grendel. Beowulf used the faith from God to defeat
Grendel without the use of weapons. Beowulf was able to hold onto Grendel s arms until they were
ripped off. Beowulf put his life at risk by using his courage and faith to overcome Grendel.
Another evil that Beowulf was able to concur using the help of God was Grendel s Mother. Grendel s
Mother was furious about the death of her only son and came into Hrothgar s kingdom. While in the
kingdom she captured one of Hrothgar s men and devoured him. Before Grendel s mother flees she
takes the arm of her son which is hanging in the hall as a trophy. Beowulf then takes his men along
with Hrothgar s to the cave in which Grendel s mother lives. The author shows Beowulf s courage in

In Bill Humble s book: Story Of The Restoration, he does an excellent and concise job covering this
time period. His information packed sentences and logical flow make this a well worth read. The
Restoration Movement bears significance today as is did from its beginning. Humble notes that, The
Restoration Movement began in America about 1800, nearly 200 years after the first English
settlements in the New World. (Humble 1). The New World was very diverse religiously compared to
Europe where Catholicism was prominent. The author goes on to list several of the main religious
groups that colonized the New World. Anglicanism became the state church in Virginia, and Maryland
was mostly Catholic. In Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire ... Show more content on

He notes: The decade following the Civil War saw a division in the Church in the North. One point of
contention was missionary societies between Isaac Errett and Benjamin Franklin. The Louisville Plan
restructured the Society with the aim of maintaing peace in the brotherhood (Humble 57). The
restructuring however ultimately failed for lack of funds. The question of instrumental music was
asked in 1851, and the discussion broadened between 1864 1865 when W. K. Pendleton saw
instruments as mere expediency. Some, such as McGarvey and Moses E. Lard, stood fast in opposing
the use of instruments. Another conservative, Benjamin Franklin, said: Better is poor singing where
love is, than the grandest tones of the organ and hatred therewith. (Humble 60). In 1906 the Churches
of Christ and the Christian Church were officially listed separately in the United States Census. This
was mostly based on the use of instruments or not. Humble notes: In 1896 J.D. Tant estimated that
more than a hundred Texas congregations had divided over the use of instrumental music. (Humble
65). Nevertheless, in 1916, Churches of Christ in Texas were more numerous than Christian Churches
(Humble 66). Division seemed to be spotlighted in progressives and conservatives, but division
abounded in each group as well. For example, many conservatives agreed against societies and
instruments, but

Pros And Cons Of Amend The Second Amendment
In this essay, I propose to amend the Constitution to modify the second amendment with: A well
regulated State National Guard is necessary to provide safety of a free country when needed, the rights
of people who pass the background check, shall not be infringed.
I proposed this change because I believe by amending the constitution in a way that I mentioned we
may not able to promise that no mass shooting will happen in the U.S, but this new amendment for
sure stop many mass shootings and gun violence to occur. The current constitution is saying that A
well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep
and bear arms, shall not be infringed. Both the first and second clauses of this constitution are
problematic. First of all, the militia does not exist anymore and it was replaced with a permanent
military and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But, since I am talking about the U.S, I think the second amendment cannot be modified like the other
developed countries due to two reasons. First, I believe National Rifle Association (NRA) has too
much power over the U.S. politicians, and since less law control is more beneficial to the NRA
members, they would not allow the politicians to increase the gun control laws. Second, According to
Congressional Research Service report, the estimated total number of firearms available to civilians in
the United States had increased to approximately 310 million: 114 million handguns, 110 million
rifles, and 86 million shotguns (Peters, 2012). Therefore, it is so difficult or nearly impossible to stop
gun violence even if no one will able to buy a gun from tomorrow, there are too many guns among
American civilian that won t stop bad people from gun

Clothing Choices In Historical Films
When a film claims to faithfully portray historical events, it becomes open to a variety of criticisms:
are the clothing choices appropriate for the time? What about choices in dialogue? And perhaps most
importantly, how accurately are the aforementioned events depicted? Generally speaking, historical
dramas are judged more harshly than other genres; as when real people and their documented actions
are subject to interpretation by the viewer, it is easy for the nuances and subtleties of society many
years ago to appear foreign to modern eyes. However, when a film acknowledges the archaic nature of
its subject and seeks to make it more accessible to newer eyes, it must be careful to still remain true to
historical events.
The 2006 film Marie Antoinette (directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Kirsten Dunst in the titular
role) is one such film that sought to modernise its subject. A retelling of the life of France s most
famous queen, the film showcases the majority of Antoinette s life, from her ... Show more content on

Court than on the rising political climate in the country, the fact remains that Marie Antoinette is a

Current Level of Informatics Knowledge and Informatics in Current Practice Health care information
management is a core competency for professional nurses. However, not all nurses and healthcare
providers have adequate knowledge of operational informatics. Just as technology has forced medical
records and documentation to evolve to computer based charting, nurses must also progress to rise
above competency in information management. According to the Technology Informatics Guiding
Educational Reform Summit (TIGER) Initiative, the vision for informatics prepared nurses includes
management and leadership, education, communication and collaboration, informatics design and
technology, policy, and culture (Hood, 2010). As an educator, the focus of nursing informatics lies in
word processing, spreadsheets and databases, online resources and public health information (PHI),
curriculum planning, e mail, interpretation of the electronic medical record (EMR), and online
continuing education.
Informatics in the Workplace
One of the most important forms of communication in the professional nursing educator role is
through electronic mail, or e mail. E mail etiquette is crucial to effective communication in the
workplace. As the program coordinator for a nurse assistant program, the responsibilities remain in the
ability to effectively communicate with other educators, business partners in the health fields, school

represents the body s response to infection and involves systemic inflammatory and cellular events

Treatment of Sepsis
As stated in Rivers, Nguyed, Havstad, Ressler, Muzzin, Knolich et al. (2001):
Early hemodynamic assessment on the basis of physical findings, vital signs, central venous pressure,
and urinary output fails to detect persistent global tissue hypoxia. A more definitive resuscitation
strategy involves goal oriented manipulation of cardiac preload, afterload, and contractility to achieve
a balance between systemic oxygen delivery and oxygen demand. End points used to confirm the
achievement of such a balance (hereafter called resuscitation end points) include normalized values
for mixed venous oxygen saturation, arterial lactate concentration, base deficit, and pH. Mixed venous
oxygen saturation has been shown to be a surrogate for the cardiac index as a target for hemodynamic
therapy. In cases in which the insertion of a pulmonary artery catheter is impractical, venous oxygen
saturation can be measured in the central circulation (p. 1368).
The focus for the general care nurse outside of the ICU is to be able to recognize sepsis and to initiate
appropriate interventions in an appropriate amount of time. Nurses need to facilitate the transfer of the

patients for signs and symptoms of progression with increasing frequency of assessments. While

How The American Dream Remain Viable For All Citizens Of...
The energy of money makes the world thrive. For decades, people have relentlessly pursued wealth to
fulfill their dreams of living a better, richer life. The famous fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger once
said, The road to success is not easy to navigate, but with hard work, drive and passion, it s possible to
achieve the American Dream. The big question is, In today s society, with its elite layer of upper class
taxpayers and overpopulated corporations, does the concept of the American Dream remain viable for
all citizens of the United States?
The past and present models of the American Dream have greatly influenced the nation s ever growing
population and economy. They possess some significant differences, but share important similarities
as well. In order to be truly successful in one s pursuit of happiness and prosperity, it is relevant to
define and understand these attributes, both good and bad.
In the postwar era of 1945 1954, the version of the American Dream led people to believe they could
make their aspirations come true if they went after nothing more than to be successful.
In playwright Arthur Miller s story, Death of a Salesman, written in 1949, the protagonist, Willy

him to prioritize making money above all his other responsibilities. When Willy gets fired from his job

Actions of Goneril in Shakespeare s King Lear Essay
Actions of Goneril in Shakespeare s King Lear
Whenever the issue of power allocation arises, there usually emerge a few individuals who, given only
a moderate amount of authority, overstep their bounds to exert more dominance than they rightfully
own; such is the case with Goneril. Yet, although Goneril certainly errs in betraying the very father
that bestowed a large dominion upon her, King Lear deserves much of the blame for Goneril s
haughtiness. After grossly misinterpreting the reticence of his heretofore prized daughter Cordelia,
Lear divides his kingdom between the mendacious Goneril and the scheming Regan, thereby leaving
the fate of the land at their unskilled mercies. Naturally, Goneril relishes her newfound control, so ...

Goneril s first underhanded act, falsely professing an exalted love for her father solely in order to gain
more land, does not constitute an isolated incident; Lear s blindness to the love of Cordelia fosters
Goneril s megalomaniacal tendencies as well as permits likeminded Regan, of the self same metal that
[Goneril] is, to commit the same trespass (1.1, 69). Although Goneril speaks first and delivers a very
calculated response, Cordelia s genuine, candid answer should have trumped the transparent rejoinders
of her sisters. Instead, Lear falls victim to their ploy and invests far too much command in Goneril;
she responds as would anyone of her ambitious disposition and decides that she must do something,
and i the heat, meaning take advantage of Lear s burgeoning infirmity (1.1, 308).
The second contention for Goneril s wickedness stems from her ordering Oswald, a steward, to snub
Lear s men, and from her extreme exaggeration of the men s supposedly decadent antics. This
argument, however, does not take into account the sentiments of Goneril as a married woman, a lady
of the house. In saying, if he dislike it, let him to our sister, she reveals her intent to use negligent
servants as a modus operandus for getting Lear out of her castle and on the road to that of Regan (1.3,
14). The mere act of begrudging a former king some of the luxury surrounding his previous position

America s New Immigration Laws
Almost 11 million immigrants are under investigation as of 2017 due to Trump s new immigration
laws (Reuters 1). USA all started with immigrants over 300 years ago and over time restrictions have
been created to limit the immigrant presence in modern day. All these bills and procedures are being
put in action against immigrants, when immigrants are in fact beneficial to America due to their
contributions to the economy and culture.
To begin with, immigration is constantly affecting the economy. Immigration has improved numerous
towns industrialization nationwide. Immigrants are important to our country because without them,
you would ruin a lot of newly industrialized towns, Even if you could deport mass numbers of people

Immigrants aren t a problem simply fixed by deportation; it s bigger than that it s their lives, family,
businesses. All on the line, not just a simple relocation issue. Not only do they help with
industrializing towns nationwide, but also they help companies worldwide and foreign affairs.
Immigrants are quite beneficial to the American economy, ...immigrants also positively benefit the
economy by increasing demand, spurring investment, and keeping receiving country industries
competitive through enhancing capital productivity (Nadadur 1). They help the economy in different
ways making them one of the reasons for our well established capitalist government with the
opportunity to grow. Immigrants in the United States strengthen foreign affairs because it shows how
welcome they are to people from nations everywhere they aren t exclusive or racist or prejudice to
other countries. Accepting all kinds of immigrants builds a certain kind of relationship with other
countries and their citizens making immigration important to foreign affairs.
Immigrants also provide a lot of jobs for the American economy. Although immigrants make jobs that
require less of an education level lower in quantity, they still provide more jobs, immigration, which
makes the economy stronger and raises wages overall because, while immigrants take jobs, they also
create them. Immigrants afford companies increasing investment and specialization (Zonczal 3). With
immigrants taking jobs, this leaves

Cultural Identity Divide
Culture can be defined as a belief that allows you to identify who you are. Thus, through cultre there is
self discovery and belonging in a group of persons who share the same belief system; who have found
themselves and are now seeking to digest more about one another through eachother s unearthing of
one s self. Culture assists you not only in identifying who you are, but the sort of people you can
surround yourself with due to common interests. In this society; I have witnessed cultural unity,
cultural identity crisis and moreover a cultural divide and surprisingly all of those fold under the same
umbrella in reagrds to knowing where you stand and those you choose to stand with. Currently,
society is a huge caste system of choices to be made, opinions to be had and decision making. Often,
many are questioned of whose side they are on awhile many don t have the opportunity to make that
decision for they are often placed in a caste based off of appearances. This generation of millenials
confuses the caste system with electronics being in the forefront of their upbringing; self discovery is
no longer going to a park and playing with kids of similar interests on the playground; but now finding
yourself is depicted by the amount of followers, likes and/ or views you possess. Moreover, society
now can also be defined by who you follow, who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Destruction Of Our Democracy
The Destruction of Our Democracy
All contributions by corporations to any political committee or for any political purpose should be
forbidden by law . This quote from Theodore Roosevelt illustrates how corporate money can be
disastrous when entangled in elections. Unfortunately, the United States continues to grant large
corporations the ability to donate to campaigns, leading to a corrupt campaign system. The Supreme
Court decided in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission that companies and Super PAC s
can donate an unlimited amount of money to endorse candidates. The Citizens United ruling has
caused increased political corruption in the United States by giving candidates the money they need to
win an election while changing policies that would be beneficial to their corporate donors and not the
American people.
Pre Citizens United
There were several landmark Supreme Court cases and laws before Citizens United that attempted to
regulate campaign contributions. Political corruption is easily caused by immense sums of funds going
to a candidate. A candidate will be more likely to benefit corporate interests because that will allow
them access to more capital later to help in reelection efforts. This becomes problematic because
average citizens do not have the capacity to donate large sums of money to a candidate. A large
corporation s speech is thus, worth far more than the average citizen. This drastically impacts the
marketplace of ideas. John Stuart Mills in

Coastal Drillers Tax Memorandum Essay
TAX FILE MEMORANDUM DATE:
FROM:
SUBJECT: Jeremiah Cranston/Coastal Drillers, Inc.
Recently, Jeremiah Cranston contacted our office in regards to him possibly providing services under
a consulting agreement for Coastal Drillers, Inc. He is concerned about the stock redemption that was
completed six years ago and what effect, if any, working as an independent contractor might have on
him regarding the redemption.
Facts: Coastal Drillers, Inc. is owned 100% by the Cranston family. Six years ago Jeremiah Cranston
redeemed all of his directly owned stock in Coastal Drillers. This redemption resulted in a qualified
complete termination redemption of stock allowing Jeremiah to recognize a long term capital gain on

Rul. 70 104, 1970 1 C.B. 66 (1970), is that services from the consulting agreement by the father show
a prohibited interest within §302(c)(2)(A)(i). The attribution to him would be terminated due to stock
attribution rules of §318, which states that stock owned by family members individually may be
reattributed to him through estate, trust, partnership or corporation of which he is a stockholder.
Therefore the redemption does not qualify as a termination of his shareholder s interest within the
meaning of §302(b)(3) of the Code.
In a Tax Court case from 1974, Estate of Lennard v. Comm., 61 T.C. 554 (1974), the judgment of
Congress was not to include independent contractors which possessed no financial stake in the
corporation as retaining an interest in the corporation for attribution waiver rules. The Ninth Circuit
Court of Appeals rejected this test by the Tax Court in Lynch v. Comm., 86 2 USTC ¶9731. The Court
held that taxpayers providing post redemption services either as an independent contractor or
employee, held an interest prohibited by §302 (c)(2)(A)(i). Mr. Cranston would fall under the
jurisdiction of the Ninth Circuit Court because he is a resident of California, and the higher court
prevails. Since the Ninth Circuit Court is a higher court than the Tax Court, the Lynch v. Comm case
law prevails over the case law of the Estate of Lennard v. Comm.
Reasoning: Coastal Drillers, Inc. offer for Jeremiah to serve as an

New London Vs Ncl Case Study

Case Brief #5
Dr. Federici
Kelo V. City of New London, Conneticut
545 U.S. 469, 125 S. CT. 2655 (2005)
Facts of the case: Decades of economic decline, led the city of New London to declare a distressed
municipality , with the unemployment rate doubled, the city of New London approved an economic
revitalization plan, and authorized a non profit organization; New London Development Corporation
(NDCL) to take the development plan into action. Pfizer announced a plan to build a research facility
in the Fort Trumbull area, which was home to 115 private properties. These properties are being taken
by New London, and just compensation is to be given to the owners. Susette Kelo (Plaintiff) sued the
city of New London and NDCL (Defendant) on grounds that the public use restriction in the Fifth
Amendment was being violated by the takings of private property. The defendants argued that the
development plan was an opportunity to attract new businesses opportunities to the area, although it
wouldn t be open to the public, it would serve public purpose. A first trial prohibited New London
from taking the properties, but an appeal from the State Supreme Court granted permission to take the
properties. A second appeal by Kelo to the Supreme Court, was affirmed by 5 4 in favor of the State
Supreme Court.

Traditionally, an IT disaster recovery plan hasn t had a very high priority on the health care agenda.
Stakeholders knew it was an important topic, but it was usually a topic last on the list of spending
priorities. In the past five years, it has reached the top of the list. Hospitals and private practices have
come to realize that the services that use on a daily basis have to be up and running continuously
without interruption. Therefore, the endeavor is to create a disaster recovery plan to ensure that critical
health information technology continues to be accessible and functional even during a disaster.

Familial Adenomatous Polyposis
Throughout the years, geneticists have made ground breaking discoveries, in regards to thousands of
inherited diseases. They have identified numerous mutations within the human genome that have
given rise to treatments and cures for multiple genetic diseases, one of which is Familial Adenomatous
Polyposis, also known as FAP. According to Half, Brocovich, and Rozen (2009)1, Familial
Adenomatous Polyposis is characterized by the development of many tens of thousands adenomas in
the rectum and colon during the second decade of life. Familial Adenomatous Polyposis is inherited as
an autosomal dominant disease, which is the reason why there is a relatively equal occurrence rate in

Severe Familial Adenomatous Polyposis or Classical FAP is characterized by the formation of over
100 adenomas in the rectum and colon. (Ellis, 2008). Individuals with this form of the genetic disease
will experience an earlier occurrence of tumors. According to Ellis (2008), adenomatous polyps are
present in 15% of FAP individuals by the age of 10 years old, 50% by the age of 15 years old, and
75% by the age of 20 years old. Individuals who are aware of their APC gene mutation, should begin
colonoscopy screenings as early as possible, preferably beginning at age 15. Since this disease is
autosomal dominant, individuals who have a family history of FAP would need get tested for the APC
mutation through blood samples, and then would proceed with colonoscopy screenings. Unfortunately,
individuals with the severe or classical type of Familial Adenomatous Polyposis will almost 100%
develop colorectal malignancy if left untreated by the age of 39. (Ellis, 2008). Ellis (2008) also
presented that 7% of individuals would develop colorectal cancer by the age of 21. Individuals who
experience severe FAP are at an increased risk of developing extra colonic attributes such as, retinal
hyperpigmentation, desmoid tumors, and even thyroid tumors. Retinal Hyperpigmentation or CHRPE

Musical Theatre Comparison Essay
Musicals and Opera are both very similar forms of Musical Theatre that involve singing, acting and
dancing. But they also have important differences. Musicals and Opera differ in the importance of the
words, the number of people attending each year, and the style of music they use. Many people enjoy
both kinds of musical theatre, both in performing them and being in the audience. It is a form of
expression enjoyed by all generations. In musicals the dialogue and the lyrics in songs are extremely
important to getting the message across. Shows are known for their witty one liners and for telling the
story during iconic songs. It would be extremely difficult to understand what is happening if you
watched a musical that was written in another language. This is quite the opposite from an Opera, the
majority of operas are written in Italian, German or French. For someone who speaks a language other
than the one being performed, it is not a problem. The main focus in opera is on the music. The story

  • 2. Relationship Between Montag And Faber Faber teaches Montag that books should be digested and then read thoroughly. Then once a person does that they should use what they have learned and apply it to their own life and actions. Faber shows this to Montag because Montag thinks that he just needs to read books to fill the emptiness he feels inside. Faber explains to him that it isn t books Montag is looking for but the teachings or lessons in those books are what he is looking for to fill his unhappiness. Faber doesn t just teach Montag to read but how to use what he is reading and apply it. Montag and Faber start to converse about how they will bring books back to be relevant. What Is The Great Debate 2016 Running head: The Great Debate 2016: Marijuana Legalization 1 THE GREAT DEBATE 2016: MARIJUANA LEGALIZATION 9 The Great Debate 2016: Marijuana Legalization Francie DeSalvio Middlesex Community College Introduction On November 8th 2016 this country will elect its 45th President. There will also be a record number of marijuana initiatives on November ballots across the country. Medical Marijuana questions will be offered to voters in four states; Arkansas, Florida, Montana and North Dakota. Five States will be voting on whether or not to allow legal recreational marijuana laws. Arizona, California, Maine, Massachusetts and Nevada. Twenty four states currently have medical marijuana laws. This current list dates back to 1996, with the first state being California. Four states have passed recreational marijuana laws. Washington and Colorado in 2012, followed by Alaska and Oregon in 2015. Only nine states throughout the United States have prohibited use of any kind, recreational or medical. Looking at these numbers, one would assume that the trend to passage is on the positive. If this is true, why the deep divide in poll numbers in regard to this question? Following the state wide passage of recreational use in Colorado in 2012, one county in Colorado, Pueblo county has now gathered enough signatures to allow the following question: whether to terminate recreational marijuana sales and operations. Could this be a trend to watch in the future, reversal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. An Evidence Vitro For The Influence Of Bisphenol A On Uterine Synopsis of An evidence in vitro for the influence of bisphenol A on uterine leiomyoma 1. Introduction Uterine fibroids are the most common noncancerous growths of the uterus also known as leiomyomas or myomas. They are not usually associated with an increased risk of uterine cancer and almost never develop into cancer but are considered as a common cause of hysterectomy. Gynecological researchers consider that the increase in the incidence of this type of tumor is related to the presence of exogenous estrogens in the environment, classifying these uterine fibroids as hormonally responsive tumors. The use of phenolic estrogens in the manufacture of plastic, resins, and several others, created a risk for the human and environment since the exposure and pollution due to these chemicals has increased significantly. Among these phenolic estrogens is Bisphenol A (BPA) which is considered to influence the development of uterine fibroids. However, the role of environment estrogens in the promotion of the growth of uterine fibroids, and its mechanism of action are not completely established. The authors of this paper performed a series of evaluations and observations expecting to identify the effect and mechanism of BPA on uterine leiomyoma (UL) cells. In this study UL cells were exposed to different concentrations of BPA to observe the cell, the protein expression was monitored for changes in expression of estrogen receptor alpha (ERα), insulin like growth factor 1 (IGF 1) ... • 5. Science Fiction, Melodrama and Western Intersect in David... Science Fiction, Melodrama and Western Intersect in David Lynch s Dune A genre is a grouping of works, in this context a grouping of films, that are somehow similar or related in content or style. Genres are not strictly uniform over a period of time and do allow for growth and adaptation of their definitive characteristics. As the film industry has developed through the past century, various genres of films have emerged and are still evolving. Aspects of genres have been redefined and intermingled through the history of film. There have also been, throughout the progression of filmmaking, films which do not strictly fall into one genre or which combine elements of several genres. David Lynch s 1984 film Dune is a fascinating case ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Melodrama, as a film genre, is deeply rooted in the institution of the family and various incarnations and evolved states of the family unit. Familial issues arise more often in science fiction than has been widely acknowledged. The futuristic universe of Dune and all of the action of the film is motivated by inter and intra familial conflicts and resolutions. Science fiction, at times, appears to be merely a scientific or futuristic setting for the same kind of melodrama film that has been made for years. However, according to Westfahl, science fiction reconstructed melodrama in a manner which complicated and undermined its traditional clarity (193). Thus whereas in a melodrama such as The Cobweb, the initial conflict of the narrative is merely left unresolved (but on an optimistic beat), in the science fiction melodrama, the film is ended with a hopelessly compromised happy ending (Westfahl, 203). Such is the case with Dune: as the film closes, rain pours down on the desert planet. The rain is meant to represent a positive miracle and something that is desirable, but the fact that rain would turn the desert sand to mud, potentially drowning and killing the giant worms and thus ending all spice production is ignored. The ending leaves the film on a happy note, but the ending has not resolved the film: it had added more conflict to be resolved. Dune is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Why Is Custer Defeated The most significant figure as to why Custer was defeated at the battle of little Big Horn was that General Terry had divided his force. He sent Custer and the 7th cavalry to fight the battle, which was a smaller number than he could have sent. This meant that there were fewer men. To make things worse, Custer then divided the men again, into 4 groups, the mule train, Bentine s group, Reno s group, and Custer s group. This caused them to be outnumbered by the Indians even more, resulting in the loss of the Battle. Another key reason why Custer was defeated in the battle was that Custer had ignored warning from Indians scouts, who had told him not to attack, as the Indian tribe was bigger and more powerful. Custer ignored this information, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

George Orwell 1984 The New American Library Copyright 1961 George Orwell George Orwell, whose real name was Eric Blair, was born in Bengal, India, in 1903. When he was eight years old, as it was customary, his mother brought him back to England to be educated. He was sent to a boarding school on the south coast, a school whose students were sons of the upper class. He was allowed in with lower tuition and not being from a wealthy background, he was subject to snobbery of the others at the school. In 1917 he went to Eton on a scholarship and he enjoyed himself, making friends and reading many books. In this period of time, work ceased and everyone gathered around a telescreen, large, flat television screens that pervaded Oceania. Goldstein appeared on the telescreen and everyone was to scream and mock this man, for he was not right. A young woman, Julia, instigates a liaison between herself and Winston. Rebelling against Big Brother, they make love, which Winston believes is a severe thoughtcrime. He felt that sexual relationships accompanying love would result in a loyalty between individuals that is contrary to the desires of the Party. They then rent an apartment and take comfort that O Brien, a vigorous, intelligent man of mysteriously high rank in the Inner Party, is their friend. O Brien lets Winston read a seditious book. This book describes the relationships of Oceania with Eastasia and Eurasia. Once O Brien had enough evidence to convict Winston and Julia, the two were arrested in their rented room. They were imprisoned in the Ministry of Love where O Brien put Winston through the first two stages of his retraining. Over the nine months of rehabilitation he learned to love O Brien and they conversed as if friends. The last stage came in the dreaded Room 101, where Winston was made to face what he secretly feared most, rats. He betrays Julia and is subjugated physically, mentally, ... Some may believe the story of Beowulf portrays pagan beliefs or customs and others believe that the poem is more in agreement with Christian ethnicity. The author of Beowulf uses both Christian and pagan elements in the poem to define the heroic warrior, Beowulf, and the evil dragons. After reading Beowulf the author clearly shows how Beowulf is a man who is filled with Christian customs and is willing to die and defend the world against evil using the help of God. This quote clearly shows the reference back to the Bible. It explains how the author uses Grendel as one of the offspring s of Cain whom killed his brother Abel. Beowulf was the one warrior who was able to stop Grendel. Beowulf travels to Grendel s lair in the marsh with some of his finest soldiers. When Beowulf and his men met Grendel the weapons of Beowulf s army became dull from a spell. The weapons could not scratch the skin of Grendel. Beowulf used the faith from God to defeat Grendel without the use of weapons. Beowulf was able to hold onto Grendel s arms until they were ripped off. Beowulf put his life at risk by using his courage and faith to overcome Grendel. Another evil that Beowulf was able to concur using the help of God was Grendel s Mother. Grendel s Mother was furious about the death of her only son and came into Hrothgar s kingdom. While in the kingdom she captured one of Hrothgar s men and devoured him. Before Grendel s mother flees she takes the arm of her son which is hanging in the hall as a trophy. Beowulf then takes his men along with Hrothgar s to the cave in which Grendel s mother lives. His information packed sentences and logical flow make this a well worth read. The Restoration Movement bears significance today as is did from its beginning. Humble notes that, The Restoration Movement began in America about 1800, nearly 200 years after the first English settlements in the New World. (Humble 1). The New World was very diverse religiously compared to Europe where Catholicism was prominent. The author goes on to list several of the main religious groups that colonized the New World. He notes: The decade following the Civil War saw a division in the Church in the North. One point of contention was missionary societies between Isaac Errett and Benjamin Franklin. The Louisville Plan restructured the Society with the aim of maintaing peace in the brotherhood (Humble 57). The restructuring however ultimately failed for lack of funds. The question of instrumental music was asked in 1851, and the discussion broadened between 1864 1865 when W. K. Pendleton saw instruments as mere expediency. Some, such as McGarvey and Moses E. Lard, stood fast in opposing the use of instruments. Another conservative, Benjamin Franklin, said: Better is poor singing where love is, than the grandest tones of the organ and hatred therewith. (Humble 60). In 1906 the Churches of Christ and the Christian Church were officially listed separately in the United States Census. This was mostly based on the use of instruments or not. Humble notes: In 1896 J.D. Tant estimated that more than a hundred Texas congregations had divided over the use of instrumental music. (Humble 65). Nevertheless, in 1916, Churches of Christ in Texas were more numerous than Christian Churches (Humble 66). • 13. Pros And Cons Of Amend The Second Amendment In this essay, I propose to amend the Constitution to modify the second amendment with: A well regulated State National Guard is necessary to provide safety of a free country when needed, the rights of people who pass the background check, shall not be infringed. I proposed this change because I believe by amending the constitution in a way that I mentioned we may not able to promise that no mass shooting will happen in the U.S, but this new amendment for sure stop many mass shootings and gun violence to occur. The current constitution is saying that A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. Both the first and second clauses of this constitution are problematic. First of all, the militia does not exist anymore and it was replaced with a permanent military and ... First, I believe National Rifle Association (NRA) has too much power over the U.S. politicians, and since less law control is more beneficial to the NRA members, they would not allow the politicians to increase the gun control laws. Second, According to Congressional Research Service report, the estimated total number of firearms available to civilians in the United States had increased to approximately 310 million: 114 million handguns, 110 million rifles, and 86 million shotguns (Peters, 2012). Therefore, it is so difficult or nearly impossible to stop gun violence even if no one will able to buy a gun from tomorrow, there are too many guns among American civilian that won t stop bad people from gun ... • 14. Clothing Choices In Historical Films When a film claims to faithfully portray historical events, it becomes open to a variety of criticisms: are the clothing choices appropriate for the time? What about choices in dialogue? And perhaps most importantly, how accurately are the aforementioned events depicted? Generally speaking, historical dramas are judged more harshly than other genres; as when real people and their documented actions are subject to interpretation by the viewer, it is easy for the nuances and subtleties of society many years ago to appear foreign to modern eyes. However, when a film acknowledges the archaic nature of its subject and seeks to make it more accessible to newer eyes, it must be careful to still remain true to historical events. The 2006 film Marie Antoinette (directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Kirsten Dunst in the titular role) is one such film that sought to modernise its subject. Gregory Chamberlain College of Nursing March28, 2009 Sepsis Early Detection and Treatment Severe Sepsis affects 750,000 Americans and causes more than 200,000 deaths annually. Sepsis is a complex condition that results from an infectious process that represents the body s response to infection and involves systemic inflammatory and cellular events that result in altered circulation and coagulation, endothelial dysfunction and impaired tissue perfusion (Kleinpell, 2005). Associated mortality rates with sepsis in the United States have remained largely unchanged for several decades. Through an international collaboration known as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Treatment of Sepsis As stated in Rivers, Nguyed, Havstad, Ressler, Muzzin, Knolich et al. (2001): Early hemodynamic assessment on the basis of physical findings, vital signs, central venous pressure, and urinary output fails to detect persistent global tissue hypoxia. A more definitive resuscitation strategy involves goal oriented manipulation of cardiac preload, afterload, and contractility to achieve a balance between systemic oxygen delivery and oxygen demand. End points used to confirm the achievement of such a balance (hereafter called resuscitation end points) include normalized values for mixed venous oxygen saturation, arterial lactate concentration, base deficit, and pH. Mixed venous oxygen saturation has been shown to be a surrogate for the cardiac index as a target for hemodynamic therapy. In cases in which the insertion of a pulmonary artery catheter is impractical, venous oxygen saturation can be measured in the central circulation (p. 1368). The focus for the general care nurse outside of the ICU is to be able to recognize sepsis and to initiate appropriate interventions in an appropriate amount of time. Nurses need to facilitate the transfer of the patient to an ICU as urgently as possible. Once sepsis is suspected, it is important to closely monitor patients for signs and symptoms of progression with increasing frequency of assessments. • 21. How The American Dream Remain Viable For All Citizens Of... The energy of money makes the world thrive. For decades, people have relentlessly pursued wealth to fulfill their dreams of living a better, richer life. The famous fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger once said, The road to success is not easy to navigate, but with hard work, drive and passion, it s possible to achieve the American Dream. The big question is, In today s society, with its elite layer of upper class taxpayers and overpopulated corporations, does the concept of the American Dream remain viable for all citizens of the United States? The past and present models of the American Dream have greatly influenced the nation s ever growing population and economy. They possess some significant differences, but share important similarities as well. In order to be truly successful in one s pursuit of happiness and prosperity, it is relevant to define and understand these attributes, both good and bad. In the postwar era of 1945 1954, the version of the American Dream led people to believe they could make their aspirations come true if they went after nothing more than to be successful. In playwright Arthur Miller s story, Death of a Salesman, written in 1949, the protagonist, Willy Loman, wants nothing more than to live the American Dream. His insatiable hunger for wealth causes him to prioritize making money above all his other responsibilities. Actions of Goneril in Shakespeare s King Lear Essay Actions of Goneril in Shakespeare s King Lear Whenever the issue of power allocation arises, there usually emerge a few individuals who, given only a moderate amount of authority, overstep their bounds to exert more dominance than they rightfully own; such is the case with Goneril. Yet, although Goneril certainly errs in betraying the very father that bestowed a large dominion upon her, King Lear deserves much of the blame for Goneril s haughtiness. After grossly misinterpreting the reticence of his heretofore prized daughter Cordelia, Lear divides his kingdom between the mendacious Goneril and the scheming Regan, thereby leaving the fate of the land at their unskilled mercies. Naturally, Goneril relishes her newfound control, so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Goneril s first underhanded act, falsely professing an exalted love for her father solely in order to gain more land, does not constitute an isolated incident; Lear s blindness to the love of Cordelia fosters Goneril s megalomaniacal tendencies as well as permits likeminded Regan, of the self same metal that [Goneril] is, to commit the same trespass (1.1, 69). Although Goneril speaks first and delivers a very calculated response, Cordelia s genuine, candid answer should have trumped the transparent rejoinders of her sisters. Instead, Lear falls victim to their ploy and invests far too much command in Goneril; she responds as would anyone of her ambitious disposition and decides that she must do something, and i the heat, meaning take advantage of Lear s burgeoning infirmity (1.1, 308). The second contention for Goneril s wickedness stems from her ordering Oswald, a steward, to snub Lear s men, and from her extreme exaggeration of the men s supposedly decadent antics. This argument, however, does not take into account the sentiments of Goneril as a married woman, a lady of the house. In saying, if he dislike it, let him to our sister, she reveals her intent to use negligent servants as a modus operandus for getting Lear out of her castle and on the road to that of Regan (1.3, 14). • 25. The Destruction Of Our Democracy The Destruction of Our Democracy All contributions by corporations to any political committee or for any political purpose should be forbidden by law . This quote from Theodore Roosevelt illustrates how corporate money can be disastrous when entangled in elections. Unfortunately, the United States continues to grant large corporations the ability to donate to campaigns, leading to a corrupt campaign system. The Supreme Court decided in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission that companies and Super PAC s can donate an unlimited amount of money to endorse candidates. The Citizens United ruling has caused increased political corruption in the United States by giving candidates the money they need to win an election while changing policies that would be beneficial to their corporate donors and not the American people. Pre Citizens United There were several landmark Supreme Court cases and laws before Citizens United that attempted to regulate campaign contributions. Political corruption is easily caused by immense sums of funds going to a candidate. A candidate will be more likely to benefit corporate interests because that will allow them access to more capital later to help in reelection efforts. This becomes problematic because average citizens do not have the capacity to donate large sums of money to a candidate. A large corporation s speech is thus, worth far more than the average citizen. Rul. 70 104, 1970 1 C.B. 66 (1970), is that services from the consulting agreement by the father show a prohibited interest within §302(c)(2)(A)(i). The attribution to him would be terminated due to stock attribution rules of §318, which states that stock owned by family members individually may be reattributed to him through estate, trust, partnership or corporation of which he is a stockholder. Therefore the redemption does not qualify as a termination of his shareholder s interest within the meaning of §302(b)(3) of the Code. In a Tax Court case from 1974, Estate of Lennard v. Comm., 61 T.C. 554 (1974), the judgment of Congress was not to include independent contractors which possessed no financial stake in the corporation as retaining an interest in the corporation for attribution waiver rules. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals rejected this test by the Tax Court in Lynch v. Comm., 86 2 USTC ¶9731. The Court held that taxpayers providing post redemption services either as an independent contractor or employee, held an interest prohibited by §302 (c)(2)(A)(i). Mr. Cranston would fall under the jurisdiction of the Ninth Circuit Court because he is a resident of California, and the higher court prevails.
