This document discusses the need for designers to address societal crises through their work. It notes that individual solutions have not worked and that collective action is needed. The document suggests that designers look at a variety of economic frameworks and work on meaningful local projects with friends to have impact.

Big I initiatives was the way it used to be done. Heavily research influenced, markets were overanalyzed and innovations became front page stories. Today, the world has shifted to research in the small. Hypothesis driven design has taken form. Innovation is now seen in smaller, more frequent announcements.
This is a lecture I have to Georgia Tech's Scheller MBA program in 2018.

From Interaction to Impact: Connecting Design with Social OutcomesKristin Low
Managing the 'social layer' of designing for impact is the most unpredictable things to manage as an experience design practitioner. The most well designed product and service can completely unravel wherever people are involved and there are different, (often competing) agendas.
Navigating the social eco-system is a critical part of creating an impactful outcome, one that requires a special mode of understanding and a skill set that is more akin to diplomacy than UX.

Webinar: How to build a digital culture in higher educationPrecedent
Higher education institutions are under constant pressure to modernize their digital properties, improve the student experience and remain competitive in the education landscape.
However, complex organisation structures and processes can make digital innovation seem nearly impossible.
During this webinar, Lindsay Herbert, Global Head of Digital at Precedent will draw on inspirational examples that evidence the need for change from digitally transformed universities like Harvard. She will also share practical tips for how non-Ivy league universities can get started – including how to get support from senior leadership, prioritise areas for innovation, and run small innovation initiatives.
Lindsay will demonstrate insights from Precedent’s own work in digital transformation within higher education institutions, including the major programmes that utilise Precedent’s alliance with KPMG. Takeaways will be very relatable and practical for universities of different sizes and digital maturity levels.

Transforming Brand Perception and Boosting Profitabilityaaryangarg12
In today's digital era, the dynamics of brand perception, consumer behavior, and profitability have been profoundly reshaped by the synergy of branding, social media, and website design. This research paper investigates the transformative power of these elements in influencing how individuals perceive brands and products and how this transformation can be harnessed to drive sales and profitability for businesses.
Through an exploration of brand psychology and consumer behavior, this study sheds light on the intricate ways in which effective branding strategies, strategic social media engagement, and user-centric website design contribute to altering consumers' perceptions. We delve into the principles that underlie successful brand transformations, examining how visual identity, messaging, and storytelling can captivate and resonate with target audiences.
Methodologically, this research employs a comprehensive approach, combining qualitative and quantitative analyses. Real-world case studies illustrate the impact of branding, social media campaigns, and website redesigns on consumer perception, sales figures, and profitability. We assess the various metrics, including brand awareness, customer engagement, conversion rates, and revenue growth, to measure the effectiveness of these strategies.
The results underscore the pivotal role of cohesive branding, social media influence, and website usability in shaping positive brand perceptions, influencing consumer decisions, and ultimately bolstering sales and profitability. This paper provides actionable insights and strategic recommendations for businesses seeking to leverage branding, social media, and website design as potent tools to enhance their market position and financial success.

Microsoft hohm -
Microsoft hohm will eventually allow you to monitor your energy costs in your house and suggest ways of reducing those costs however currently most homes do not have smart meters and the project is still in development. Eventually you will be able to get live data rather than estimated information about your home. The project is similar to Google’s PowerMeter except that Microsoft have an interim site while Google are holding back until the energy companies provide access to smart meter information.
