This document discusses reasons for migrating to the cloud and challenges involved in cloud onboarding. It notes that the amount of digital data is growing exponentially and will soon reach 1 zettabyte. Migrating to the cloud can provide benefits like more storage space, lower costs, and improved availability and performance. However, cloud onboarding presents challenges like preparing servers and clients, replicating mail files, and getting users to complete steps. Tools from IBM can help automate some onboarding processes. The document also discusses how to analyze user activity data from Domino logs and databases to better prepare for migration.

Design and Development of BIM on GIS Interoperability Open Platformslhead1
ecently, Construction data has evolved from CAD to BIM and BIM becomes more important data used in various fields like facility management and 3D GIS construction, so there is an increasing need for developing technologies that can be effectively used in post-construction steps. There are lots of trials to model and service not only geographical terrain and outdoor but also indoor space. From this perspective, establishment of BIM and GIS interoperable method and development of service platform became the most important core technology. On this research, spatial data linkage model has been devised to smoothly implement the interoperability between two different kinds of data - BIM data and GIS data.
The platform basically displays BIM data based on 3D GIS such as WorldWind Java developed by NASA and Google Earth. It is also possible to interactively move in and out the buildings and also to see the outside of the building when a user is inside the building and inside of the building while a user is outside the building. Besides, the platform makes users look up the objects of buildings and properties of objects one by one, floor by floor, by similar properties, or all. Users can also edit the properties of objects and do spatial queries for analysis of the data.
This project is co research project of KICT(Korea Institute of Construction Technology) and Gaia3D and working closely together to develop BIM and GIS Interoperability Open-Platform for the integration of BIM and GIS data since 2012 and have developed the system for smooth operation of big size 3D BIM data and GIS data about plenty of buildings in areas or cities, not just one building. Now, core technologies to integrate BIM into GIS are successfully developed and we will keep improving the system step by step. KICT and Gaia3D together have designed and developed BIM and GIS interoperability open-platform based on the spatial data linkage model. Links between BIM data and GIS data enables efficient and seamless management of indoor and outdoor information at the same time and it also could be used for various services such as real estates and AR (Augmented Reality) services. Gaia3D develops 3D facility management system for Antarctic King Sejong science station to efficiently manage the facilities and publicly promote the station using BIM on GIS system with open source GIS software.

Extend the Value of Your BIM Data with FME: Part 1Safe Software
BIM contains useful data that can be shared, analyzed, and stored for project management and efficiency purposes.
However, the information stored often doesn’t get used to its full potential because of the complexity of BIM workflows and interoperability with other formats and applications.
That’s where FME comes in. FME extends the value of BIM data by enabling it to be used in more places, in more ways, by more people.
In this webinar, we’ll share real case studies of how BIM users around the world are maximizing its potential.
You'll see how FME users are accomplishing common BIM transformation tasks like:
- Extracting & converting BIM data to share, analyze and store across hundreds of formats
- Transforming, integrating, and validating BIM
- Automating BIM workflows
- Amplify your data by combining the power of BIM with the power of FME.
How to Create 3D Mashups by Integrating GIS, CAD, and BIMSafe Software
Find out how you can easily integrate GIS, CAD, BIM, and other spatial data to create accurate 3D representations using FME. You'll discover how to manipulate 3D data across popular formats like CityGML and SketchUp, as well as transform BIM data to load only the required information into your GIS. You'll also hear how FME enabled one customer to take vintage 2D CAD data and create informative 3D PDFs and 3D AutoCAD DWG files to help in the decommissioning of a nuclear power plant

Sjors Donkers - Automatic generation of CityGML LoD3 building models from IFC...SDonkers
CityGML is a standardized data format used to store the semantic information and geometries of buildings and other object classes of 3D city models. The Level of Detail of current state of the art city models (LoD2) is not sufficient for accurate environmental simulations like noise, the solar potential of windows and other types of analyses. An LoD3 building model represents the full architectural exterior of a building with balconies, windows and so forth. The generation of these models needs to be automated as it is otherwise infeasible due to the required high amount of manual labour. In the architectural world, detailed building models are created in IFC format. This thesis shows that it is possible to automatically generate valid and semantically rich CityGML LoD3 building models directly from IFC models. Also an initial investigation is done on the possibilities for the conversion of IFC models to CityGML LoD4.
For the conversion the semantic and geometric validity requirements are determined for CityGML. A methodology for the conversion is developed and a prototype implementation is made to prove the effectiveness of the conversion. The conversion consists of three parts: 1) The extraction and mapping of IFC semantics to CityGML semantics; 2) A geometric generalization which extracts the exterior shell using a transformation based on Boolean and morphological operations; 3) Semantic and geometric refinements which optimize the model for analyses. The developed prototype is able to successfully convert IFC models to CityGML LoD3. All the resulting models were geometrically validated according to the ISO19107 standard, and semantics were checked manually. Few improper semantics occur in the output due to missing semantics in IFC. For example, there are no semantics for balconies or dormers in IFC. Recommendations are given to improve the alignment between the two formats. For IFC additional semantics are recommended whereas it is important for CityGML to specify how certain aspects are to be modelled.
The research presented in this thesis can be used as the foundation for future work on the interoperability between Architecture and Geomatics. The software package is open source and freely available at https://github.com/tudelft-gist/ifc2citygml.

User on-boarding and management can be a challenge in Connections Cloud, particularly in a hybrid environment, with no opportunity for automation.
There's no integration with other systems which means any changes in IBM Connections Cloud need to be applied to all other LDAP directories via a cumbersome CSV import/export.
And there are additional complexities for companies who need to show audit proof of their adherence to compliance guidelines.
Our AdminTool Connector can remove these challenges.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

The Digital Universe - continued
The irony of the digital universe is that, while
most of it (almost 70%) is created by the
actions of individuals – taking pictures, watching
digital TV, being captured on surveillance
cameras in airports – enterprises have contact
with, and therefore liability and responsibility for
more of it (85%), such as account information,

Das digitale Universum verdoppelt sich alle zwei Jahre
While the digital universe is doubling every two years in size, and the number of information “containers” every 20 months, the number of IT professionals on the planet may never double again – or at least not for 20 years. In the context of the digital universe, the number of gigabytes per IT professional will grow by a factor of eight between now and 2020, while the number of devices on the IoT grows by a factor of 2 (not counting virtual devices).
