A. INTRODUCTION (5 mins)
What I need to Know?
This lesson will help you to describe the motion of objects in terms of
position, distance traveled, and speed.
After going through this lesson, you are expected to able to:
1. Describe the motion of the object
2. Illustrate the route from school to the given place
3. Show importance of direction in relative to the point of
reference
What is New?
Student: The woman swims and the man plays basketball
Teacher: Explain your answer
Teacher: Then how about the two remaining pictures?
Student: The two pictures demonstrate movement only
because they don’t even change their position from a reference
point.
Strategy:
Socratic Method
The teacher uses the Socratic Method by
asking questions about the given picture.
Subject Integration

Analysis
3. B. Picture Analysis- The teacher will show a picture and ask different
questions.
Process Questions:
1. Based on your observation, which path will you take to reach the
school faster from your house? The broken line or the straight
line?
2. What do you think these lines represent?
3. Based on your experience, how far do you think it will take to get
to your house from TaytayTiangge?
B. DEVELOPMENT (10 mins)
The student will answer the following questions:
1. I think the shortest path will be the straight line
2. The straight line shows the shortest path for me to travel
from my house to the school while the broken line shows
the longest path from my house to school.
3. Student’s answer may vary

4. What I Know
The teacher will ask the students the following questions.
1. When can we say that an object is in motion?
2. How do we describe the motion of an object?
WHAT’S IN - ASSESS OUR PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE
Directions: Read and understand the problem. Analyze the figure as well.
Finally, answer the questions that follow.
Problem:
Due to traffic, a car must travel from point A to D along the route as shown
in the figure below.
Questions:
1. What is the total distance traveled by the car in kilometers (km)?
________
2. In which direction did the car move –
from point A to B? ___________
from point B to C? ___________
from point C to D? ___________
Student: An object will be in motion if it moves from one place to
another
Student: If an object moves from the starting point.
Student: 12 km
Student:

ACTIVITY TIME !
The teacher will then divided the students into 4 groups. The teacher
will set a 15-minute timer for them.
Group 1. Google Earth
Procedure:

Realism
Teacher uses realism,by familiarizing the
students with the various routes outside the
school and uses the concepts of distance
and displacement.
Progressivism
The teacher uses progressivism to make
the students aware of the distance they
travel from their house to school.
6. 3. Click the Map style and choose Exploration
4. Click the last button (Measure Distance and area) click add point, on
the distance Menu choose the Kilometer and click the check mark.

8. 5. Select a starting point (Manuel I. Santos) and endpoint (San Juan, URS
Taytay)
Subject integration
Simple mathematical Expression
Addition of meters.
9. Take note that the lines you used must’ve only covered main roads
6. Screenshot your answer and send it to your teacher.
Students will then be assigned a given place to plot
1. Manuel I. Santos to URS
2.Manuel I. Santos to San Juan Elem. School
Processing Questions
What is the distance (km) covered from
Manuel I Santos to San Juan Elementary School:_____
Manuel I. Santos to San Juan Elem. School: ____________
2. One Monday morning, You are going to school. To get to Manuel I.
Santos from San Juan Elementary School, You need to walk along a
straight path. As you walked 50 m East, you noticed that you dropped
your wallet along the way, so you walked back again 20 m west to fetch
it. What was the total displacement that you traveled? What is your
displacement?
Group 2
1. Help Jungkook by making a line at shortest route possible for him to be
with BTS again. Compute the numbers you will encounter to help members
unlock the hidden treasure at the end of the mae. Beware there are
monsters everywhere.
Student:
1 193 m
2 440 m
Total Displacement: 70 km
Displacement: 30 km
10. Processing question:
1. How many meters does Jungkook needed to walk thru in order for him to
arrive at the other members of BTS?
2. Did you find any shortcut?
Group 3
Directions:
1. Unscramble the tiles to reveal a message. Each tile is used only once. Use
spacing, punctuation and common words to find adjacent tiles. Some words
may be split into two lines.

11. Guide Question:
1. What word did you get?
2. Did you get it right at first time? How is it important for everybody to
have a participation in doing the activity?
Group 4
Directions:
Try to rebuild the message. The letters from each cell are below the puzzle. Try
to rebuild the original message by choosing the letters for each cell.
Guide questions:
1.Does having the letters given to you helps in answering the activity?
2. How hard it is to complete the puzzle?

PRESENTATION RUBRIC
C. ENGAGEMENT (10 mins)
What is more?
What is motion?
To describe the motion of an object, there must be a change in the
position with respect to a reference point.
A reference point is a fixed position used to determine motion
Distance is the total length travel by an object or person on the other hand
Displacement-is a vector that points from an object’s initial position to its
final position.
In science, motion is defined as the change in position for a
particular time interval. You can then start describing motion with the
13. question, “How far did the object travel?” There are actually two ways to
answer this question. First is by getting the total length of the path traveled
by the object. In Figure 1 for example, the dog ran 10m to the east, then
5m to the south, and another 10m to the west. So it has traveled a total of
25 meters. The other way is by measuring the distance between the initial
position and final position of the object. Based again on Figure 1, the dog
has traveled 5 meters to the south.
Figure 1
The first measurement gives the distance traveled by the object
(represented by broken lines) while the second measurement gives its
displacement (represented by continuous line). Distance is a scalar
quantity while displacement is a vector quantity.
Scalar quantity is described with a single number ( including any units).
Indicating size, magnitude or dimension (e.g 10 km, 5 m)
Vector quantity need both magnitude (size) and direction to completely
described them. (e.g 10 km south, 5 m East)
What can I do?
14. Directions:
Elaborate the Filipino quote below and relate it to the concept of the
importance of specifying the reference point when describing the distance
and displacement covered by an object. Write your answers on a separate
sheet of paper and send it on Google classroom. “Ang hindi marunong
lumingon sa pinanggalingan, ay hindi makakarating sa paroroonan”-
