3. Does this sound familiar?
Several failed attempts and tools to track and manage assets
Currently tracking assets with multiple Excel spreadsheets, but no confidence in the data
Using basic discovery solutions, but not happy with results
Lost or stolen assets is a major concern
Asset refresh is falling behind, users are frustrated with old devices
Executives are frustrated because they have no ability to forecast or plan
No integration with purchasing or stock management, only information about procurement comes from vendors (Lenovo, Dell, CDW)
Software management does not exist, over-buying to protect against audits
Business line managers are allowing, if not encouraging, shadow IT activity
Asset managers are frustrated because they cannot get users to return used equipment, forcing the company to buy more new assets than needed
No ability to link contracts to assets so it is impossible to get proactive notifications for when contracts are expiring or renewing
Security team is demanding accurate asset allocation details to keep the company safe
No integration between ITSM asset requests and available stock, onboarding a new employee is taking up to 3 weeks
CIO was just fired. New CIO is asking for data. Team is working overtime to do their day job and provide data to the new CIO
4. Current state of IT Asset Management
Orgs spend 10+ hrs per week
resolving data accuracy issues
Nearly 66% of IT managers have an
incomplete record of their IT assets
30% of IT fixed assets are “ghosts”
– missing or cannot be found
At least 25% of orgs still use
tracking spreadsheets
56% of orgs verify asset location
only once a year; 10-15% only
every 5 years
