Character Strength in One Day in the Life of Ivan...
Character Strength in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander Solzhenitsyn
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich is a novel about survival.
Solzhenitsyn shows us how even in seemingly atrocious circumstances each person can find sources
of strength that gives them the will to carry on. Many of the things that the prisoners think of as their
sources of strengths would mean nothing to us, but if one thinks about it, without them we would
perhaps lose the will to carry on.
Most of the prisoners have more than one source of strength, perhaps subconsciously they have made
their own fail safes. If they lost one source, they would have other more personal reasons to carry on.
The two main factors of strength that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He studies the New Testament and he uses literature to cut out the outside world. Shukhov does not
seem like a religious man, but as one goes further into the novel, one begins to see him taking a bigger
interest in religion, and more importantly, faith. Alyosha tries to show Shukhov that faith is the
strongest source of strength, and he tells Shukhov to try to see the importance of spiritual goods rather
than material goods. However, objects have a lot of importance to all of the prisoners. Aloysha hides
his New Testament to avoid it being confiscated just Shukhov hides his bread. This shows us that the
Bible is as important to Alyosha as bread is to Shukhov. At the end of the novel Shukhov gives away a
biscuit to Alyosha and expects nothing in return. This shows that he has taken Alyosha s advice and
has chosen to feel spiritual accomplishment rather than keeping the material good. Property is another
source of strength in the novel. Possessing something that other prisoners do not have is a way of
showing individuality in a place where all the prisoners are marked as the same, ignoring what they
have or have not done. Shukhov s spoon is also very symbolic. Shukhov is forced to hide the spoon in
order to keep it from being taken by the guards. In a way this shows us how the camp tries to take
away anything that gives the prisoners a sense of individuality, or anything that gives them happiness.

Japan Yen
The Rise (and Fall) of the Japanese Yen
Lawrence Cifarelli III, Nazanin Ershad, Natthima Sonsoem, Anyesha Mahaptra
University of New Haven
Abstract
This Case study provides an insight to the fluctuations experienced in the currency of Japan, Yen from
the late 1990 s to recent years. Japan follows the floating currency monetary policy due to which there
is no measures taken on to control the fluctuations. Japan experienced magnificent growth through the
60 s, 70 s, and 80 s leading into the 90 s beginning. In the late 1990 s, Japan s economy marked its
growth significantly slower, which had then come to be known as the lost decade due to Japanese
Asset Price bubble that collapsed. Eventually the nation faced major issues regarding ... Show more

For the following issues the Bank of Japan (BoJ) responded by embarking on Quantitative Easing
(QE) in the early 2000 s which did little to quell the deflation and Yen Strength that had plagued the
nation entirely.
The major problem for the export heavy nation became the strength of the Yen. When the exporters
saw a more expensive Yen, they faced more difficulty to compete with domestic manufacturers in
other nations. Also, due to extremely low rates of interest in Japan, it experienced massive outflows of
capital from retirees and investors looking for yield in other economies such as United States, Europe
and Australia.
Subsequently, the Japanese economy maintained a long lasting recovery beginning in early 2002.
However, the path has not always been smooth, given two soft patches (temporary softening in the
market) and weakness in some parts of the economy.
Japan commenced on a multi pronged approach by June 2012 in an urge to end the multi decade slide
that was seen in growth numbers for its economy. This approach was initiated by Shinzo Abe during
his campaign for Prime Minister, once installed as the political leader of Japan s economy with Hiroki
Kuroda installed as the head of the Bank of Japan, the country spurred into putting effort in order to
inculcate inflation consequently inflation back to the nation.
The current Japanese bond market bubble has contributed greatly to the fluctuation of the

Bearing Arms at Nineteen Years Old Essay
The right to bear arms is embedded in our Nation s constitution as the second amendment of the Bill
of Rights. The amendment states, A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free
state, the right of people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed (Bill of Rights). Currently these
laws should be extended to nineteen year olds because they are considered legal adults and citizens.
Although the United States no longer has local militias, the idea of keeping a secure state still stands
today. Since 1960, the general trend for crime in the United States is at a gradual increase (Uniform
Crime Reports). With the growing concern for the safety of the community, young adults at the age of
nineteen should be able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That being said, this increased exposure to society leads to more exposure to threat. In 2009, David
Ward, president of the American Council on Education, stated perfectly The events of September 11,
2001, certainly changed the way campuses, as well as the rest of the country, view the issue of
security. He goes on, the tragedy at Virginia Tech has put these issues at the forefront of our Nation s
consciousness (United States). Many other events that have happened in American society raise
awareness and concern towards societal terrorization also. In addition, in 2010, an estimated
1,246,248 violent crimes occurred nationwide and thirty eight and a half percent of these crimes were
robbery, forced rape, and homicide (U.S. Department of Justice). Because nineteen year olds are more
exposed to danger in society, nineteen year olds should have a legal right to conceal a handgun for
protection of the individual carrier and the public as a whole. In addition, giving a nineteen year old
the ability to use handguns for recreational purposes enables them to use what they learn, through the
required courses they take, in a way that is not harmful to the public. In fact, many universities have
gun clubs that participate in competitions for college students, many of whom are not twenty one. The
participation of clubs allows for social acceptance and better self esteem for gun owners, lessening the
likelihood of ill use of handguns by owners.

The Ethan Couch Case
Affluenza, the guilt or lack of motivation experienced by people who have made or inherited large
amounts of money. The case that brought the term affluenza about was the Ethan Couch case. The
case is about how Couch essentially killed four people but got out of doing time in prison because of
money and his inability to make good decisions thanks to his parents and wealth. The author of this
paper believes that Ethan Couch should have gotten harsher sentencing. The sentence should have
been what you get for vehicular manslaughter because four people died and two people were severely
injured. The reasons that Affluenza is not a valid excuse for getting away with a heinous crime are, the
term was only brought up by a witness during the Couch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Affluenza was used as a reason for Couch needing to have his charges lessened, but in looking
through reasons that someone can have their sentence lessened Affluenza was not among them. The
term itself is just a mix of affluence and influenza. Neither of these things would lessen a sentence in
court by itself, and affluenza is not term even used in any courts nor does it hold weight as a term.
Ethan Couch was old enough to make decisions by himself. He would have known that drinking
heavily and driving was a bad decision. If he had just acted his age he would have either asked
someone to drive him of gotten a taxi to go home, and avoided the whole incident and not had to go to
court. He was 16 years old at the time of the case so he would have known what he did was wrong.
The final issue with the term Affluenza is that the term itself gives rich people the right to say that
Affluenza was the cause of their crime. If Affluenza is to be used as a valid excuse for a crime then
other people would be able to create their own special reason for why they did their crime. Any rich
person or semi wealthy person could say that they or a relative were affected by Affluenza and could
get away with the least possible punishment when they should have gotten a worse

Running Out Of Time Literary Analysis
The two books The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum and Running Out of Time by Margaret
Peterson Haddix have very similar settings. While Dorothy travels to a strange land called the land of
Oz, Jessie travels out of her 1840 s village and back to the current time of 1996. While both girls need
to learn how to interact with situations they aren t used to but they use different methods. Also the
girls have totally different reasons as to why they are there and while they are there they are trying to
accomplish different things. The two books have very similar Author s choice in setting. In The
Wonderful Wizard of Oz Dorothy is swept away from her home in Kansas in a huge twister. She lands
in a world called the land of oz filled with people who look different and act differently. Dorothy
doesn t know anybody and she has no idea where she is. She has to find a way to blend in and get to
the wizard (Oz) so she can get back home to kansas and her aunt and uncle. While she stood looking
eagerly at the strange and beautiful sights, she noticed coming towards her a small group of the
queerest people she d ever seen. (Baum, page 5) The quote explains that Dorothy was swept away into

school shootings, killing thirty two and injuring another seventeen. This massacre occurred on April
16, 2007 and is recorded as one of the deadliest school shooting incidents by a lone gunman in U.S.
history. Giovanni s speech aims to persuade that the Virginia Tech family will be strong enough to

Grammar Checkers
Don t rely entirely on spelling and grammar checkers. These can be useful tools but they are far from
foolproof. Spell checkers have a limited dictionary, so some words that show up as misspelled may
really just not be in their memory. In addition, spell checkers will not catch misspellings that form
another valid word. For example, if you type your instead of you re, to instead of too, or there instead
of their, the spell checker won t catch the error.
Grammar checkers can be even more problematic. These programs work with a limited number of
rules, so they can t identify every error and often make mistakes. They also fail to give thorough
explanations to help you understand why a sentence should be revised. You may want to use a
grammar checker to help you identify potential run on sentences or too frequent use of the passive
voice, but you need to be able to evaluate the feedback it provides.

Persuasive Essay On Pet Ownership
According to the 2017 2018 National Pet Owners survey, about 68% of American households own a
pet. Someone could view pet ownership from many perspectives, on the one hand some pets are costly
and someone may have an allergy to them, but on the other had pets can bring an immeasurable
amount of love and joy to a family. Owning a pet can give their pet owner so much compassion, and
help them learn responsibility, and how to priorities their tasks. Someone can not teach compassion,
but something everyone must have to understand and respect others. A pet can give their pet owner so
much of love and joy. When I get stressed out my cat, Smokey, comes over to me and sit right on top
of whatever I happen to try to work on at the moment. This even happens when I get right into the
middle of my homework and she thinks I need a break so she lays down right in the middle of my

Learning s Reflection On The Experience Of Learning
Back when I was a child, learning to me was memorising multiplication tables and grammar rules.
That perception altered during my university years, when learning meant observing, researching,
gaining experience through trial and error. I believe that it is the grand experience during my
university days, which showed me that the time honoured custom of reading and remembering never
did help me. I came to realise that learning is a mind altering process where, action during a mind
engaging activity, begs you to learn, unlearn and re learn.
I have also learnt through experience that learning cannot happen in a one size fits all approach. Each
child has a combination of different intelligence and learning style (Howard Gardner). Some children
would portray a balanced perspicacity, while others show certain dominating traits of intelligence. It is
not up to the child to identify these traits and harness it. In fact the onus is on the teacher to identify
and draw out the true potential of the learner, in a way the learner feels motivated and challenged.
Traditional syllabi and formulaic methods of teaching aren t engaging and contradict many theories I
ve learnt from this course. I believe that learning happens when the process is learner centred, wherein
learners construct on previous knowledge (Bruner) with plenty of audio visual stimuli and the right
amount of intervention from the facilitator (William Black), thus maximising the learning potential.
Learning happens at one s own pace (Maria Montessori), that which is based on experience (John
Dewey, Kolb s Experiential learning theory) and the learner should be encouraged to be curious
enough to pursue bigger questions.
I found some of the following teaching strategies to be of great value enhancing the learning process.
Group work: Group work aids in students working together maximising their own and each other s
learning (Johnson, Johnson Smith 1991). Group work allows productive in class discussions that can
be successful in large classrooms. This has to follow with an exit card or a 3 2 1. This was also evident
in my observation of EP, where the learners learnt from their peers and were confident to share with
other peers thus making it a successful

The Debate Over The Controversy Of Abortion
When taking the emotional aspect out of the abortion argument, what premise would most support
individual liberty? The debate over the controversy of abortion continues because of its frequency of
occurrence, and the cultural, legal and religious status that varies extensively in different parts of the
United States. While the emotional arguments regarding abortion can be compelling, but should have
no bearing in the legal discussion, the individuals rights to life and liberty should be held above all.
Thanks to the vast knowledge in the medical field, there is a point when it becomes irrefutable that
two lives and their liberties must be considered and protected under the US Constitution. The abortion
industry should be entirely privatized, acknowledge a child s right to life, and be held on a civil level
that reevaluates the point of simply ignoring clear medical and physical realities. Advocates
identifying themselves, as pro choice believe that choosing to have an abortion are a mother s right
and should not be limited by the government or religious authority. The mother s right to autonomy
supersedes the right of a preborn inherent right to life. Opposed to this are pro life supporters, who
believe that the fetus s personhood begins at the time of conception. The government has a
responsibility to preserve all human life, and that rights of personhood should be granted. Putting
religion and social views aside, there is irrefutable evidence of potential for

An Analysis Of Euripides The Suppliants
In The Suppliants, Euripides wrote, The people cannot form proper judgements and therefore cannot
rightly direct a state . Euripides is living in the midst of democracy in Athens; therefore his quote is a
critique of what is happening around him. In his quote, he is taking an anti democratic stance towards
the question of who is fit to rule. Euripides believes only one or few people should rule a state, as not
all are qualified or have the proper judgement to do so. However, people do rule the state, without
having to meet any arbitrary requirements to be fit to rule. The term proper judgement is highly
subjective and the notion that only a few have the ability to rule is simply paternalistic. The relative
success of ancient Athenian and contemporary Swiss direct democracy show that people do have the
ability to form proper judgments. It was Aristotle who once said man is a political animal , so it is in
human nature to be politically involved. In opposition, Plato describes the grave consequences of
placing the power into the one or the few in his ideal yet authoritarian state.
There are many issues with Euripides quote. Firstly, the term proper judgment is extremely abstract.
For instance, Machiavelli and Kant would have very different ideas on what proper judgment may be,
but both are thought to be notable political philosophers. The decisions rulers make will always be
criticized by one group of people, so it is difficult to say for certain if someone meets

New York City Financial Crisis Summary
A financial crisis is a circumstance in which the worth of financial establishments or assets plummets
quickly. A financial crisis is frequently related to a panic or a run on the bank. When this occurs,
investors tend to sell assets or associated with a panic or a run on the banks, in which investors sell off
assets or take out money from banking accounts with the anticipation that the value of those assets
will decrease if they stay at a financial institution (Investopedia, 2016). The purpose of this paper is to
provide a summary of the financial crisis of New York City and Orange County.

Control Board was created. The Emergency Control Board had control over the city s finances. They
could control the city s bank accounts, issue orders to city officials, remove them from office, and
press charges against city officials (Dunstan, 1995). The state law that created the control board
required that the city balanced its budget within three years. Besides the creation of the control board,
other measures were taken to prevent another financial crisis such as this from occurring again. The

Essay about Campaign Finance Reform
Campaign finance reform has a broad history in America. In particular, campaign finance has
developed extensively in the past forty years, as the courts have attempted to create federal elections
that best sustain the ideals of a representative democracy. In the most recent Supreme Court decision
concerning campaign finance, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, the Court essentially
decided to treat corporations like individuals by allowing corporations to spend money on federal
elections through unlimited independent expenditures. In order to understand how the Supreme Court
justified this decision, however, the history of campaign finance in regards to individuals must be
examined. At the crux of these campaign finance laws ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, these laws are particularly important because they deal with discussion of public issues
and debate on the qualifications of candidates. This sort of speech allows citizens to make an informed
decision about which candidate they will elect. This is crucial to the operation of the government, for
those who are elected will shape the nation in a profound way. As legal scholar Alexander Meiklejohn
argued when explaining the necessity of protecting political speech, self governance can only exist
insofar as the voters acquire the intelligence, integrity, sensitivity, and generous devotion to the
general welfare that, in theory, casting a ballot is assumed to express. For these reasons, the ability to
spend money on elections is essential to the First Amendment, as it allows for the communication of
ideas and opinions that are crucial to democracy. The need to protect this first amendment right,
however, is balanced against the need to avoid corruption in federal elections. The Federal Election
Campaign Act of 1971 (FECA) attempted to revamp the structure of campaign finance, particularly
dealing with eliminate corrupt uses of campaign contributions. Money in the form of a contribution
can easily be seen as a bribe, or an attempt to influence a candidate in the contributor s favor. FECA

Pros And Cons Of Semi-Automatic Transmission

This has been modified in most modern gearboxes that are being used to increase the rotation while
reducing the speeding like in a motor crank which is an arm attached at the right angles to the rotating

can still and could take manual control of gear selection. Based on the research made, semi automatic
transmission is sometimes called a clutch less manual , or automated manual transmission. Mostly of
this transmission, the driver is allowed to fully delegate gear shifting choice to the control system
which acts as like it was regular automatic transmission. Semi Automatic Transmission or SAT does
not change gears automatically, but rather helps manual gear changes by giving out the need to press a
clutch pedal at the same time as changing gears. It uses electronic sensors, pneumatics, processors and
actuators to shift gear on input from the driver or by a computer. SAT is designed to provide a better
driving experience through fast overtaking vehicles on highways. Some motorcycles also use a system
with a typical gear change but without the need for manual clutch operation. Semi automatic
transmissions have also made their way into the truck and bus market in the early

Introduction To Identity The Unknow Acid Solution
The purpose of this experiment is to identity the unknow acid solution through determining the Ka
value of the reaction experimentally. The colors of unknown acid 3 matches the colors of test tube 1,
with thymol blue being light pink, malachite green being dark green and crystal violet being cyan.
Comparing it to other 3 test tubes, test tube 2 has a similar result. Both test tube 3 and 4 have higher
Ph than 1 and 2, since thymol blue is yellow and crystal violet is purple in test tube 3, rose and blue in
test tube 4. Crystal violet is green in test tube 2, which shows that it has a lower ph than test tube 1.
So, the order of acidity from most acidic to least acidic is 2143. Dichloroacetic acid is the second
strongest in those 4 acids; this suggests that unknown acid 3 is dichloroacetic acid.

According to Le Chatelier s principle, the equilibrium shifts to the left, making Phenolphthalein
colorless. At a high ph level where the H3O concentration is low, the equilibrium shifts to the right,
showing the pink color of Phenolphthalein. This allows it to be used in both weak acid strong base and
strong acid strong base titration. In a weak acid and strong base titration, the equivalence point would
be above 7 due to the reaction occur between the conjugated base and water. This often makes the pH
value detectable by Phenolphthalein. In a strong acid and strong base titration where the equivalence
point is 7, the spike of pH around equivalence point is huge and all indicators at this range change
color at the same volume of acid or base. Therefore, using Phenolphthalein in this case won t cause

K2 Mountain Research Paper
Siren
In the summer of 2015, I traveled to the K2 mountain. It is ranked as one of the highest mountains in
the world second only to Mount Everest. My trip to the mountain, which stands between the borders
of China and Pakistan, was both insightful and inspiring. The mountain s vast and undisturbed
landscapes were stunning and majestic, yet perilous and destructive. The journey opened my eyes to
the allure and awesome power of nature and its difficult relationship with humanity.
At night time, I went exploring with my family the landscape. Even though it was dusk, animals were
seen prowling or flying about. The birds were flying high up in the skies near the full moon, they

were killed each day. From my point of view, the death of humans was catching up to the death rates
of the animals because nature during global warming is very unstable which causes most of the deaths
near the mountains. The K2 mountain has lakes and rivers surrounding it which started flooding in
July of 2010 because of global warming and an excess amount of rain. The floods wreaking havoc on
the livelihoods, homes, and lives of the people residing there. Each day I was there the weather varied
from it being cool, rainy, to freezing. People want to be like nature: having beauty, being good, and
having quality traits, but they also come with nature s downfalls. I wouldn t have even guessed that
people lived here if there hadn t been bridges and shepherds walking around. Nature is so many
things, but ultimately its a thing of such beauty. Untouched landscapes could show you just how
beautiful nature is without human interference, seducing you with its beauty. Food for the animals

starving, I could tell by their gaunt faces. It hurt to see such a sight, the only food I had on myself at
the moment was gum, so I gave each child a piece of gum. Their faces lit up

Descriptive Essay On Cowboys Play
Don t be surprised if u see #57 flying around the field always around the ball making tackles on
Thursday. Wilson is a tackling machine who has a nose for the football. Backup behind Sean Lee on
Will linebacker spot. He s been compared to last year s fourth round pick Anthony Hitchens, but a
better version of Hitchens (which is no knock to Hitchens because he s a good player.) Athletic and
versatile player who uses his length extremely well to avoid blocks off his body at certain angles that
way he can flow towards the ball without getting hung up on blocks. These are what you call run and

The Power Of Responsibility In The Great Gatsby
The power of responsibility
Responsibility is a very important part of a person s personality and . Lennie and Gatsby run from
their responsibilities. Both did awful things and it ended up getting them in a very bad situation. In
real life running from responsibilities makes people look egotistical or unreliable because they don t
want to get themselves in trouble.
The Great Gatsby was written by F.Scott Fitzgerald and is about Nick Carraway and Jay Gatsby. It
tells the story of how James Gatz, a young farm boy turned himself into Jay Gatsby, a rich and lively
man. Always chasing after one person, Daisy. Of Mice and Men was written by John Steinbeck and
tells people about the struggles of the 1930 s workers in California through George and Lennie.
George and Lennie are two workers who always stayed by each other s side through thick and thin
even though George didn t want Lennie around.
Responsibility is something that everyone has and sometimes people might have to run. Though in
most cases people should learn to stay and face their responsibilities. If people ignore a responsibility
then it might help resolve the situation and if they don t ignore it any trouble or strife can be
prevented.
Jay Gatsby, Nick Carraway, Tom, they all have their own set of responsibilities to uphold and keep
track of.
Jay Gatsby used to live on a farm in North Dakota and ran away and made a responsibility to himself
to become rich, famous and successful, (FITZGERALD,98).

Performance Management Process And Employee Development
Abstract
This research paper presents the research results of performance models of management by objectives.
This paper also addressed: 1) performance management philosophy, 2) performance management
process and employee development, and 3) performance management and compensation.
Keyword: performance, development, compensation Research and summarize relevant performance
models
An effective model of performance management system focuses on identifying, measuring and
dealing with employee s performance. Traditionally, performance management system is viewed to be
a the responsibility of immediate supervisor, a process for establishing a shared understanding about
what is to be achieved, and how it is to be achieved, and an approach to managing people that
increases the probability of achieving success. However, There s no single universally accepted model
of performance management system. This section summarized the research results of three different
performance management systems.
Management by objectives ( MBOs )
MBOs is a type of performance management system that requires the manager and employee to
identify employee goals as they relate to the overall business. For example, a sales representative s
objectives may include increasing revenue by 25 percent in 12 months. The employee determines how
best to achieve this goal and establishes a timeline for the tasks she needs to accomplish to increase
revenue: improve sales and decrease costs. Often, MBOs track

of Ransom Olds introduced the Oldsmobile in 1901. But a guy by the name of Henry Ford had
actually brought the automobiles to the people of the United States. He made the Ford Model T a nice
and trustworthy car that normal Americans can afford. Henry Ford thought of many ideas and methods
to make things a lot better and easier for production, working conditions, daily life, and wages. Henry
Ford influenced social change in many ways in the 1920s after invented the nice and affordable Model
T. Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863 in what is now Dearborn, Michigan. Henry was born on his
dad s farm. Early in his life he had qualities that made him seem that he was going to be powerful,
successful, and famous. He was very interested in fixing thing and building things such as engines.
Ford and some of his friends built water wheels and steam engines. Ford was always wanting to know
more about full sized steam engines so he befriended a couple of men that ran them. Ford s dad

Cognitive Development
Cognitive Development According to Piaget
Cognitive development is defined as gradual orderly changes by which mental processes become more
complex and sophisticated, or the scientific study of how human beings develop in certain orderly
stages as they get older. The actual study of cognition refers to the process of knowing; it is the study
of all mental activities related to acquiring, storing, and using knowledge (Microsoft, 2001, p.3). How
we as humans develop cognitively has been thoroughly observed and researched by Jean Piaget. He
was a cognitivist: he believed that our environment stimulates us to learn on our own (make our own
intelligence).

The final sub stage is from eighteen to twenty four months and is called mental combinations. This is
when they start to pretend. They now have symbolic play where they imitate mom, dad, brother or
sister, babysitter, etc. They can now remember the past and certain isolated events.
Piaget s second stage of cognitive development is the Preoperational Stage and is from age two to six
or seven years (Woolfolk, 2001). This is the stage where children really start to use symbolic
representation. There are only two sub stages here, but they last for longer amounts of times with more
learning occurring in each. The first sub stage is from two to three or four years and is called the
preconceptual phase. At this stage children start to judge from their own experiences. However, the
world still revolves around them; if they want it, it will happen (or so they think). They also think that
others have access to their thoughts. Therefore, when children of this age start to talk about random
ideas or people they know, they don t give specifics because they think others know exactly what or
who they are talking about. In this stage, children are very egocentric. More than forty percent of the
time, they talk about themselves. Their
imagination in this stage is very active. They talk to inanimate objects (their toys, a rock, a stick, etc.).
This is when they start to mix play with reality. They are afraid of monsters and fictional bad guys

Tourism As A Source Of Revenue Managing Destinations Essay
In today s competitive economies and with growth of tourism as a source of revenue managing
destinations is an important and integral part of controlling tourism s environmental impacts and
promoting sustainable tourism in the region. Destination management includes planned business
permits to organizations, land use planning, environmental and other regulations and various other
methods for the development and operations of activities related to tourism. According to UNWTO
The programme for Destination Management is committed to respond positively to the growing need
for systematic, multidisciplinary and intersectoral strategies for tourism at local, regional and national
level and in particular to provide strategic guidance in destination management which is a recent
conceptualization of a micro level activity at national, regional and/or local level in which the tourism
stakeholders carry out their individual and organizational responsibilities in a coordinated manner
aiming to achieve the macro level policies. (United Nations World Tourism Organization)
The term destination is given to an area where tourism is of significant importance and economy is
highly influenced by tourism. UNWTO defines destinations as A local tourism destination is a

History of American Art Education Essay
Western culture had many important effects on the United States as a developing nation, and art
education was no exception to this. In order to come to terms with the impact of Western culture on
American art education, it is important to chronicle the progression of art education throughout
Europe. Spanning centuries, the political, social, and economic development of European nations,
each played an important role the philosophies of art education, which in the long run, affected
American ideas concerning the subject. Thoughts about art changed and evolved in many ways over

The role that art did play involved one that catered towards the state. Art was used as political
propaganda in that it was thought that art should serve the state, and emphasize the power of the state.
These events indirectly shaped beliefs about art in the United States, as it was a new nation that was
raised on strong European influences. Throughout the history of art education, there is a common
thread of political relation. The attitudes concerning art related directly to the political and economic
happenings at the time. This remained a constant with early American settlers as well. For example,
Puritans lives revolved around faith and farming, therefore visual art played a role that was not
necessary integral. The arts involved a broad term that included crafts that were taught at home. The
main goal of education was to teach students to read so that they could read scriptures. Art education
today has veered quite a bit from this mentality. Art is still considered a specialized area, but even
more so than in times prior to the Industrial Revolution. Where during this time period certain crafts
that were part of daily living were routinely taught to young children at home, contemporary society
has moved away from this. Very rarely is a student taught an art or a craft in the home, and because
society s amenities and values have changed so drastically, few individuals or families

Pro Choice Vs. Pro-Abortion
All I m going to say is there is a difference between pro choice and pro abortion. Pro choice is
understanding that you have no control over what another woman does with her body. Pro choice is
understanding that people make their own decisions based on their life. Pro choice is not necessarily
approving of abortion, it s allowing people to make decisions, which is why it s called pro CHOICE. If
you are pro life, you are saying an unborn fetus is equivalent in value as a born child. If a fire was

Exploring The Binding Coordination And Uptake Path Of...
Exploring the binding coordination and uptake path of molybdate and tungstate
Molybdenum and tungsten have similar ionic radii and chemical properties. Tungsten is the heaviest
atom and the only third row transition element that exhibits biological activity in enzymes.
Molybdenum is the only second row transition metal that exhibits biological activity when it is present
in a cofactor of a metalloenzyme. The natural source of molybdenum is molybdate, molybdate has 4
oxygens bound to the molybdenum in a tetrahedral coordination and is transported into the cell by
ModA, where it is incorporated into the molybdoenzymes, or in various different cofactor. Tungsten is
also taken up by cells in a similar manner as molybdenum but is bound by a different protein WtpA.
Tungsten occurs naturally as tungstate, just like molybdate it has 4 oxygens bound a tetrahedral.
Humans need molybdenum for molybdoenzymes which are essential for our growth, in thermophiles
the molybdenum is usually substituted for tungsten. (Mukund Adams, 1991) Not all life form use
molybdenum and not all use tungsten, but all use either molybdenum or tungsten, to current date there
has not been a cell found that doesn t use one or the other. The molybdoenzymes carry out a variety of
different reactions in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. One of the most well known one being
nitrogenase as well as nitrate reductase. These work together to play a major role in our ecosystem.

Suicide Is The Second Most Common Form Of Death Essay
Suicide is the second most common form of death in adolescence. Flip through any peer reviewed
journal article, and you will see that this is not just a myth. In fact, in Canada, 10.3 adolescent males
and females take their life for every 100,000 people in the national population every year (WHO,
2007). In the United States, that number is almost double at 17.8 adolescent males and females for
every 100,000 individual aged 15 24 (WHO, 2007). For over the last decade, researchers from all
parts of the world have been at work trying to piece together what it is that triggers and pushes
teenagers into making the ultimate decision and take their life. In Norway, researchers came up with
four possible factors: the parents regarding poor communication, previous suicidal ideation, alcohol
and drug abuse, and frequency and variances of depression and mental disorder developments
(Herrestad, Mehlum, Nrugham). In support of the finding, adolescents in Thailand who had attempted
suicide claimed that they had done so due to severe parenting criticisms, which threw them into a state
of depression and rendered them uncontrollable of their actions and emotions (Arunpongpaisal,
Rungreangkulkij, Sukhawaha, 2016). In another study conducted in the United States, Caucasian and
Hispanic adolescents between the ages of 13 and 18 claimed they were 1 1/2 times more likely to have

The Evolution Of Lean Manufacturing
LEAN MANUFACTURING
Origins of Lean Lean originally originated from Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) (McCarthy,
2015) in the early 1900 s however it wasn t until the Toyota family introduced the Toyota Production
System (TPS) into their company manufacturing operations that it began to gain recognition. In the
1950 s, Toyota first implemented quality measures within the production lines process and hence the
initial stages of continuous improvement. Taiichi Ono, who was the executive vice president,
developed and implemented the renowned Toyota Production System (TPS) after the Second World
War as a means of producing a highly effective and efficient manufacturing line for their products.
Ono took great inspiration from Henry Ford s early lean concepts and applied it to meet the demand of
their own Japanese market. This built the seeds of TPS, which today is better known as lean
manufacturing (Womack Jones, 1996). Nowadays, Lean is used globally throughout industry in all
different sizes of enterprises that can depend on the successful implementation of Lean. (Herron,
2008). Toyota s success as one of the world s largest automotive manufacturers and leading Lean
implementers stands as proof of Leans merits. (Institite, 2000 2016). This has led to enormous demand
for knowledge on leans tools and techniques as companies continue to have success with its
implementation.

It was key for ORC to sign Sony to a licensing agreement. Agreeing to Sony s terms was a strategic
move which not only solidified a revenue stream but also paved the way for other firms to follow suit.
Upon signing Sony to a licensing agreement, Phillips Dupont seemed to follow suit primarily to avoid
costly litigation. Specifically, ORC managed to sign a licensing agreement with Phillips on moderate
terms that did not fully utilize the legal leverage of ORC. In other words, ORC was not able to
negotiate the license on their terms but more out of desperation of signing a licensing agreement.
Despite having the upper hand, ORC was unable to capitalize on their strong position.
During the Sony deliberations, ORC was experiencing financial troubles in Canada. The Canadian
government wished to immediately resend their tax credits which awarded ORC, as a research firm,
$6.5 million Canadian dollars. Adamson refused to pay the $6.5 million which was primarily based on
the fact that ORC could not afford to pay them. Nevertheless, the aforementioned decision of the
Canadian government was a potential threat to ORC, and could have resulted in a different business
development strategy employed by the company.
To capitalize on the recently successful licensing program, ORC turned their attention towards the
next largest manufacturer of CD media in the U.S. WEA Manufacturing (Subsidiary of Time Warner).

There is a strict requirement by the Internal Revenue Service to taxpayers requiring them to follow
appropriate guidelines as they try to make a determination on whether an activity is a profit making

serve to ensure that the taxpayers are taxed fairly, and they pay all taxes that are due. Failure to

particular, to watch the Naga King Chili Eating Competition. She aimed to find out and understand the
pleasure and pain the Capsicum genus brings to the people who consume it. The Naga King Chili
Pepper varies in heat, but can score extremely high on the Scoville heat unit. The contestants of the
chili eating contest began to suffer from the effect of the capsaicin in their digestive tracts. Some
experienced hot flashes and unbearable heat from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, environment has a greater effect than genetics. A person s environment, exposure to
capsaicin (both frequency and hotness) has a greater effect on a person s tolerance than their biological
makeup. Also, it was mentioned in lecture, there are supertasters, tasters, and nontasters. Supertasters
have smaller and more papillae on their tongue, which makes their sensitivity to tastes heighten. For
nontasters, the opposite is true. They have bigger and less papillae on their tongues, making them less
sensitive to tastes. Supertasters would be less tolerant to chilies like the Naga King Chili because of
their heighten senses, on the other hand, nontasters would be less sensitive and would probably find
the Naga King Chili more tolerable.
Relationship with the Tomorrow s Table topic: Tomorrow s Table suggests that organic farming as
well as genetic engineering of plants can help solve some of today s food problems. At the end of the
article, it was said that growing conditions heavily affect the ways chilies turn out. The hotness of the
chilies can change drastically depending on growing conditions. Therefore, we can apply organic
farming and genetic engineering on the Naga King Peppers to make them mild. This way, the Naga
King Chilies will appeal to more consumers than just chiliheads. Similarly, the same methods can be
used on other extremely hot chilies to make them more tolerable to the average human being. By
doing so, it opens up

Elvis Presley s Influence On African American Culture
In the 1950 s and 1960 s, Rock N Roll made a steady influential climb into the blossoming generations
norm. Elvis Presley, The King of Rock, debuted his first number one hit song Heartbreak Hotel and it
climbed steadily to the top of the charts as the number one song in February of 1956. When Elvis
popularity first grew, it sparked outrage through the previous generations in fears that his music would
intertwine cultures. In the 1950s and 1960s, Rock N Roll was classified as African American music
and those listeners who do not fit that class, would be frowned upon. Mr. Presley was a Nashville
native, who sang hard driving rockabilly, Rock N Roll dance songs and ballads, and laid a foundation
for other rock musicians to follow.
Elvis unique fashion sense influenced younger generations through the years to dress their snazziest,
grease their hair in a 50 s fashion, and influenced how they interact with each other. Elvis was a part
of the reason that the youthful generation blossomed away from the typical conservative ways that the
previous generations encouraged, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was daring, unique, and different from any other musician known and it is thanks for his ingenuity
of style that music has blossomed into what it is today. Elvis not only influenced younger generations,
but his music and his style influenced many musicians, actors, and artist to be who they are today. One
person that Elvis strongly influenced, was Barry White. Barry White was serving 4 months in a
correctional facility for stealing tires when he was inspired by Elvis Presley and his music to become a
musician. It s a good thing Barry decided to never give up. On Monday, March 24th, 1958, Elvis
Presley was drafted into the United States Army. Private Presley had already risen to fame and didn t
want any special treatment despite the Air Force and the Navy s attempts to recruit and give him

A True Miracle Of A Miracle
This story is about a miracle. A true miracle. I was three when my paw paw Tony, my dad s dad, had a
heart attack. This heart attack should have been life ending, had it not been for my paw paw s co
worker. For 30 minutes, this co worker did CPR while waiting for an ambulance. By the time my
parents got to the hospital, my paw paw was breathing on a ventilator. They were told that there was
no hope, that he was not expected to make it even a week.
What happens next? The doctor may have said there was no hope, but my paw paw did not need hope.
He had something much greater on his side. For hours a day, my parents, relatives, friends and church
members of my paw paw s church prayed. They prayed without stopping. My girls, they are too ...

to leave school. Puzzled, I walked into the office to see my mother waiting for me. She had been
crying. When we had gotten in the car, she told me my paw paw had had a stroke. This does not look
good, Syd. , she had said to me. I simply sat in my seat and said nothing. If there is one thing I have
always been thankful for, it is that my parents never treated me like a child. I was only eight at the
time and I did not understand much of it, but still my parents included me in what was going on. They
sat me down and explained to me what was happening with my paw paw. They told me he did suffer a
stroke at home. When I had asked what a stroke was, they told me it can happen when the brain does
not get enough blood supply. They told me that it was too late to help him, that all we could do was
make him comfortable and make sure that he knew we loved him. So I made sure that he knew. Each
day, I would make him a card, or I would write him a letter and take it to him. The days I couldn t go
see him, I d send it off with my mom to take to him. The days I could go, I sat beside him and I talked
to him. He never responded. So I prayed. I prayed

A Streetcar Named Desire Primal Instincts

shared primal instincts. The four primary instincts are sexual desire, survival, forming relationships
and seeking protection. These instincts are naturally embedded into all humans and influence all
action. Humans primal instincts can help strengthen them overall in many ways but also can destroy
them due to the social impacts they entail. In Tennessee Williams story, A Streetcar Named Desire, the

Theme of Fate in Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare Essay
Some people may not believe that destiny is something that truthfully exists in the world. These
people doubt that there is anything that is actually meant to be, or supposed to happen, thinking that
there is always a way around troubling predicaments, knowing that it is not necessary to turn out just
one certain way. They trust that whatever occurs in their lives comes as a result of the decisions that
they make with their own free will. Others believe that whatever happens during the course of their
lives is inevitable and every event is laid out before them like a road map to life, in other words, fate.
William Shakespeare s play, Romeo and Juliet has fate as an exceptionally crucial element which
makes fate as important as any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is because of fate that they meet because Romeo says it himself. The final deaths of the lovers is the
consequence that he is talking about and the bitterness that starts the pathway to their ultimate tragedy
is their first encounter, since they are supposed to be opposing enemies. It is also evident that Romeo
cannot make intelligent decisions for himself when he says: ?Tut, I have lost myself. I am not here. /
This is not Romeo. He?s somewhere else.?(Romeo and Juliet I i, 205 206). Romeo says he is not
himself and that his mind is off somewhere else. As fate would have it, Romeo rushes head on into
situations that were out of his control .For these reasons, Romeo and Juliet s first meeting was sure to
happen, fate being the most powerful force at work, determining their future. Romeo and Juliet?s first
meeting was utterly coincidental. Neither person had the intention to find each other. It was fate that
had Romeo to see her at that exact point in time when he asked the server who she was and the server
could not tell him. When Romeo discovers who Juliet is, he says to himself, O dear account! My life
is my foe s debt. (Romeo and Juliet I v, 132) Despite the fact that they were born into feuding families,
Romeo can t help but love Juliet because he already loves her

Compare And Contrast Conservatives And Liberals
In the world of politics, there are two main political parties in the U.S. These two parties are
conservatives and liberals. Conservatives are traditionally the Republican Party while liberals are the
Democratic Party. Conservatives want to maintain the traditional values and want to conserve existing
structure. Conservatives support limited government involvement in the private sphere, lower taxes,
and free market (a disadvantage for minorities). Liberals are more open to progress and highly reliant
in the government to solve problems (Squadrin 4). Liberals support more active role of government,
policies to aid minorities and equal opportunity for all human beings. Both parties have opposing
views when it comes to economic, political and social issues. Conservatives and liberals have different
views when it comes to economic policies. According to Squadrin, author of Conservatives vs.
Liberals, Liberals believe that the government should interfere and regulate the economy of the nation
in order to protect citizens from corporate power while conservatives encourage a free market where
the government should not regulate the economic system of the nation (Squadrin 6). Free market is a
system where the prices of goods are determined by the buyers and government imposes few or no
restrictions. Another example of their economic difference is when it comes to Taxes. Even though
they both support low taxes, liberals believe that wealthy people should pay higher

Improving My Writing Process Analysis
One of the areas in which we must all strive to improve to the best of our abilities is the potential to
effectively articulate thoughts and ideas into our writing pieces. Improving my writing capability has
been one of the most gratifying accomplishment because I have always been one to feel insecure
about my assets as a writer. This insecurity spawns from self awareness and knowing that writing can
place you in a vulnerable state, as you allow others to perceive you personal notions and mental
process. Some the most intimidating experience as a writer was having to write three essays within a
short period of time because this type of task can demonstrate one s genuine ability to both write
coherently and rapidly. Due to these timed write,

Summary Of The Devil In The White City
The Devil in the White City
The Devil in The White City starts out by naming all the characters. It also talks about a world fair
that is going to take place in the United States. They didn t know what city to host the fair with, so
they already had their cities then they had an election. With Chicago being bigger than Philadelphia it
came down between New York and Chicago. They had another election day for it, and Chicago upset
New York.
Everybody was excited for Chicago. But Chicago had a lot of work to do. So, they had to get a
landscape architect, and had to get a lot of construction workers moving. Once they started that they
had to pick a park to have the fair in. They wanted to build more skyscrapers to make the city look
bigger. Large numbers of rich citizens tried to build the buildings but they weren t building but 2 3 of
them.
As tensions rose in Chicago. The plan of the fair got more complicated. Burnham and Root continued
to get their jobs finished before people from foreign countries arrive. It took longer for them to build
with technology of 1893. Burnham who was the lead architect and Root another architect. Are
working together to finish the fair project.
Which they both said that the fair is the biggest project they`ll ever have . The murders mostly took
place in Chicago but the book says they were occasional lurch across state line it says that on page xi.
One other thing about the book is the architects from the fair. One is from New York and one is from
Chicago. But they said they were tied together . They both talk about marrying beautiful women and
having children. And both of their offices are facing south.
The books time line last 1890 1893. And covers the struggles of Daniel Burnham and John Root. They
worked hard on trying to get the world fair landscaping done and make the fair
perfect. And give The United States of America a good name. Because at the beginning of the book
the United States wanted to beat France`s World Fair. America wanted to be at top of everything. The
murder in the book tricked people into the murder castle and kill them. For people to be from a
different country they wouldn t know about everything in the United States.

6. What advantages do fuel cells offer batteries for use in portable electronic devices? Do they have
any disadvantages?
Fuel Cells generate electricity by consuming fuel (often methanol), while traditional batteries store
electricity and release it through a chemical reaction. A spent fuel cell is replenished in moments by
simply refilling its reservoir or by replacing the spent fuel cartridge with a fresh one.
Benefits of Fuel Cell:
 Because there is no combustion in a fuel cell, fuel is converted to electricity more efficiently than
any other electrical generating technology available today.
 There are no moving parts in a fuel cell stack, making them more reliable and quieter than
generators. Even the ancillary systems (fans, pumps, controls, etcetera) in a complete fuel cell unit are
relatively mature and simple technologies that should prove extremely reliable.
 Unlike batteries that must be disposed of once their chemicals are used up, fuel cell reactions do not
degrade over time and can theoretically provide continuous electricity.
 Traditional power plants must be large in order to gain efficiency, but fuel cells can achieve higher
efficiencies at any scale, making them perfect for small portable, residential, and transportation uses.
 Because fuel cells are clean and efficient at any size, they can be located almost anywhere,
including dense urban areas where both air quality and

  • 2. Character Strength in One Day in the Life of Ivan... Character Strength in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander Solzhenitsyn One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich is a novel about survival. Solzhenitsyn shows us how even in seemingly atrocious circumstances each person can find sources of strength that gives them the will to carry on. Many of the things that the prisoners think of as their sources of strengths would mean nothing to us, but if one thinks about it, without them we would perhaps lose the will to carry on. Most of the prisoners have more than one source of strength, perhaps subconsciously they have made their own fail safes. If they lost one source, they would have other more personal reasons to carry on. The two main factors of strength that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He studies the New Testament and he uses literature to cut out the outside world. Shukhov does not seem like a religious man, but as one goes further into the novel, one begins to see him taking a bigger interest in religion, and more importantly, faith. Alyosha tries to show Shukhov that faith is the strongest source of strength, and he tells Shukhov to try to see the importance of spiritual goods rather than material goods. However, objects have a lot of importance to all of the prisoners. Aloysha hides his New Testament to avoid it being confiscated just Shukhov hides his bread. This shows us that the Bible is as important to Alyosha as bread is to Shukhov. At the end of the novel Shukhov gives away a biscuit to Alyosha and expects nothing in return. This shows that he has taken Alyosha s advice and has chosen to feel spiritual accomplishment rather than keeping the material good. Property is another source of strength in the novel. Possessing something that other prisoners do not have is a way of showing individuality in a place where all the prisoners are marked as the same, ignoring what they have or have not done. Shukhov s spoon is also very symbolic. Shukhov is forced to hide the spoon in order to keep it from being taken by the guards. In a way this shows us how the camp tries to take away anything that gives the prisoners a sense of individuality, or anything that gives them happiness. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Japan Yen The Rise (and Fall) of the Japanese Yen Lawrence Cifarelli III, Nazanin Ershad, Natthima Sonsoem, Anyesha Mahaptra University of New Haven Abstract This Case study provides an insight to the fluctuations experienced in the currency of Japan, Yen from the late 1990 s to recent years. Japan follows the floating currency monetary policy due to which there is no measures taken on to control the fluctuations. Japan experienced magnificent growth through the 60 s, 70 s, and 80 s leading into the 90 s beginning. In the late 1990 s, Japan s economy marked its growth significantly slower, which had then come to be known as the lost decade due to Japanese Asset Price bubble that collapsed. The major problem for the export heavy nation became the strength of the Yen. When the exporters saw a more expensive Yen, they faced more difficulty to compete with domestic manufacturers in other nations. Also, due to extremely low rates of interest in Japan, it experienced massive outflows of capital from retirees and investors looking for yield in other economies such as United States, Europe and Australia. Subsequently, the Japanese economy maintained a long lasting recovery beginning in early 2002. However, the path has not always been smooth, given two soft patches (temporary softening in the market) and weakness in some parts of the economy. Japan commenced on a multi pronged approach by June 2012 in an urge to end the multi decade slide that was seen in growth numbers for its economy. The amendment states, A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed (Bill of Rights). Currently these laws should be extended to nineteen year olds because they are considered legal adults and citizens. Although the United States no longer has local militias, the idea of keeping a secure state still stands today. Because nineteen year olds are more exposed to danger in society, nineteen year olds should have a legal right to conceal a handgun for protection of the individual carrier and the public as a whole. In addition, giving a nineteen year old the ability to use handguns for recreational purposes enables them to use what they learn, through the required courses they take, in a way that is not harmful to the public. The participation of clubs allows for social acceptance and better self esteem for gun owners, lessening the likelihood of ill use of handguns by owners. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The case that brought the term affluenza about was the Ethan Couch case. Affluenza was used as a reason for Couch needing to have his charges lessened, but in looking through reasons that someone can have their sentence lessened Affluenza was not among them. The term itself is just a mix of affluence and influenza. If he had just acted his age he would have either asked someone to drive him of gotten a taxi to go home, and avoided the whole incident and not had to go to court. He was 16 years old at the time of the case so he would have known what he did was wrong. The final issue with the term Affluenza is that the term itself gives rich people the right to say that Affluenza was the cause of their crime. • 12. Learning s Reflection On The Experience Of Learning Back when I was a child, learning to me was memorising multiplication tables and grammar rules. That perception altered during my university years, when learning meant observing, researching, gaining experience through trial and error. I believe that it is the grand experience during my university days, which showed me that the time honoured custom of reading and remembering never did help me. I came to realise that learning is a mind altering process where, action during a mind engaging activity, begs you to learn, unlearn and re learn. I have also learnt through experience that learning cannot happen in a one size fits all approach. Each child has a combination of different intelligence and learning style (Howard Gardner). Some children would portray a balanced perspicacity, while others show certain dominating traits of intelligence. It is not up to the child to identify these traits and harness it. In fact the onus is on the teacher to identify and draw out the true potential of the learner, in a way the learner feels motivated and challenged. Traditional syllabi and formulaic methods of teaching aren t engaging and contradict many theories I ve learnt from this course. I believe that learning happens when the process is learner centred, wherein learners construct on previous knowledge (Bruner) with plenty of audio visual stimuli and the right amount of intervention from the facilitator (William Black), thus maximising the learning potential. Learning happens at one s own pace (Maria Montessori), that which is based on experience (John Dewey, Kolb s Experiential learning theory) and the learner should be encouraged to be curious enough to pursue bigger questions. I found some of the following teaching strategies to be of great value enhancing the learning process. Group work: Group work aids in students working together maximising their own and each other s learning (Johnson, Johnson Smith 1991). Group work allows productive in class discussions that can be successful in large classrooms. This has to follow with an exit card or a 3 2 1. The debate over the controversy of abortion continues because of its frequency of occurrence, and the cultural, legal and religious status that varies extensively in different parts of the United States. While the emotional arguments regarding abortion can be compelling, but should have no bearing in the legal discussion, the individuals rights to life and liberty should be held above all. Thanks to the vast knowledge in the medical field, there is a point when it becomes irrefutable that two lives and their liberties must be considered and protected under the US Constitution. The abortion industry should be entirely privatized, acknowledge a child s right to life, and be held on a civil level that reevaluates the point of simply ignoring clear medical and physical realities. Advocates identifying themselves, as pro choice believe that choosing to have an abortion are a mother s right and should not be limited by the government or religious authority. • 14. An Analysis Of Euripides The Suppliants In The Suppliants, Euripides wrote, The people cannot form proper judgements and therefore cannot rightly direct a state . Euripides is living in the midst of democracy in Athens; therefore his quote is a critique of what is happening around him. In his quote, he is taking an anti democratic stance towards the question of who is fit to rule. Euripides believes only one or few people should rule a state, as not all are qualified or have the proper judgement to do so. However, people do rule the state, without having to meet any arbitrary requirements to be fit to rule. The term proper judgement is highly subjective and the notion that only a few have the ability to rule is simply paternalistic. The relative success of ancient Athenian and contemporary Swiss direct democracy show that people do have the ability to form proper judgments. It was Aristotle who once said man is a political animal , so it is in human nature to be politically involved. In opposition, Plato describes the grave consequences of placing the power into the one or the few in his ideal yet authoritarian state. There are many issues with Euripides quote. Firstly, the term proper judgment is extremely abstract. For instance, Machiavelli and Kant would have very different ideas on what proper judgment may be, but both are thought to be notable political philosophers. The decisions rulers make will always be criticized by one group of people, so it is difficult to say for certain if someone meets ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Federal Election Commission, the Court essentially decided to treat corporations like individuals by allowing corporations to spend money on federal elections through unlimited independent expenditures. As legal scholar Alexander Meiklejohn argued when explaining the necessity of protecting political speech, self governance can only exist insofar as the voters acquire the intelligence, integrity, sensitivity, and generous devotion to the general welfare that, in theory, casting a ballot is assumed to express. For these reasons, the ability to spend money on elections is essential to the First Amendment, as it allows for the communication of ideas and opinions that are crucial to democracy. The need to protect this first amendment right, however, is balanced against the need to avoid corruption in federal elections. The Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 (FECA) attempted to revamp the structure of campaign finance, particularly dealing with eliminate corrupt uses of campaign contributions. Mostly of this transmission, the driver is allowed to fully delegate gear shifting choice to the control system which acts as like it was regular automatic transmission. Semi Automatic Transmission or SAT does not change gears automatically, but rather helps manual gear changes by giving out the need to press a clutch pedal at the same time as changing gears. It uses electronic sensors, pneumatics, processors and actuators to shift gear on input from the driver or by a computer. SAT is designed to provide a better driving experience through fast overtaking vehicles on highways. Some motorcycles also use a system with a typical gear change but without the need for manual clutch operation. Semi automatic transmissions have also made their way into the truck and bus market in the early ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Introduction To Identity The Unknow Acid Solution The purpose of this experiment is to identity the unknow acid solution through determining the Ka value of the reaction experimentally. The colors of unknown acid 3 matches the colors of test tube 1, with thymol blue being light pink, malachite green being dark green and crystal violet being cyan. Comparing it to other 3 test tubes, test tube 2 has a similar result. Both test tube 3 and 4 have higher Ph than 1 and 2, since thymol blue is yellow and crystal violet is purple in test tube 3, rose and blue in test tube 4. Crystal violet is green in test tube 2, which shows that it has a lower ph than test tube 1. So, the order of acidity from most acidic to least acidic is 2143. Dichloroacetic acid is the second strongest in those 4 acids; this suggests that unknown acid 3 is dichloroacetic acid. According to Le Chatelier s principle, the equilibrium shifts to the left, making Phenolphthalein colorless. At a high ph level where the H3O concentration is low, the equilibrium shifts to the right, showing the pink color of Phenolphthalein. This allows it to be used in both weak acid strong base and strong acid strong base titration. In a weak acid and strong base titration, the equivalence point would be above 7 due to the reaction occur between the conjugated base and water. This often makes the pH value detectable by Phenolphthalein. In a strong acid and strong base titration where the equivalence point is 7, the spike of pH around equivalence point is huge and all indicators at this range change color at the same volume of acid or base. My trip to the mountain, which stands between the borders of China and Pakistan, was both insightful and inspiring. The mountain s vast and undisturbed landscapes were stunning and majestic, yet perilous and destructive. The journey opened my eyes to the allure and awesome power of nature and its difficult relationship with humanity. At night time, I went exploring with my family the landscape. Untouched landscapes could show you just how beautiful nature is without human interference, seducing you with its beauty. Food for the animals were scarce as well for the poor. In real life running from responsibilities makes people look egotistical or unreliable because they don t want to get themselves in trouble. The Great Gatsby was written by F.Scott Fitzgerald and is about Nick Carraway and Jay Gatsby. Piaget s second stage of cognitive development is the Preoperational Stage and is from age two to six or seven years (Woolfolk, 2001). This is the stage where children really start to use symbolic representation. There are only two sub stages here, but they last for longer amounts of times with more learning occurring in each. The first sub stage is from two to three or four years and is called the preconceptual phase. At this stage children start to judge from their own experiences. Exploring the binding coordination and uptake path of molybdate and tungstate Molybdenum and tungsten have similar ionic radii and chemical properties. Tungsten is the heaviest atom and the only third row transition element that exhibits biological activity in enzymes. Molybdenum is the only second row transition metal that exhibits biological activity when it is present in a cofactor of a metalloenzyme. The natural source of molybdenum is molybdate, molybdate has 4 oxygens bound to the molybdenum in a tetrahedral coordination and is transported into the cell by ModA, where it is incorporated into the molybdoenzymes, or in various different cofactor. Tungsten is also taken up by cells in a similar manner as molybdenum but is bound by a different protein WtpA. Tungsten occurs naturally as tungstate, just like molybdate it has 4 oxygens bound a tetrahedral. In the 1950 s, Toyota first implemented quality measures within the production lines process and hence the initial stages of continuous improvement. Relationship with the Tomorrow s Table topic: Tomorrow s Table suggests that organic farming as well as genetic engineering of plants can help solve some of today s food problems. At the end of the article, it was said that growing conditions heavily affect the ways chilies turn out. The hotness of the chilies can change drastically depending on growing conditions. Therefore, we can apply organic farming and genetic engineering on the Naga King Peppers to make them mild. This way, the Naga King Chilies will appeal to more consumers than just chiliheads. This heart attack should have been life ending, had it not been for my paw paw s co worker. For 30 minutes, this co worker did CPR while waiting for an ambulance. By the time my parents got to the hospital, my paw paw was breathing on a ventilator. They were told that there was no hope, that he was not expected to make it even a week. What happens next? The doctor may have said there was no hope, but my paw paw did not need hope. He had something much greater on his side. I was only eight at the time and I did not understand much of it, but still my parents included me in what was going on. They sat me down and explained to me what was happening with my paw paw. They told me he did suffer a stroke at home. When I had asked what a stroke was, they told me it can happen when the brain does not get enough blood supply. They told me that it was too late to help him, that all we could do was make him comfortable and make sure that he knew we loved him. So I made sure that he knew. • 45. Theme of Fate in Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare Essay Some people may not believe that destiny is something that truthfully exists in the world. These people doubt that there is anything that is actually meant to be, or supposed to happen, thinking that there is always a way around troubling predicaments, knowing that it is not necessary to turn out just one certain way. They trust that whatever occurs in their lives comes as a result of the decisions that they make with their own free will. Others believe that whatever happens during the course of their lives is inevitable and every event is laid out before them like a road map to life, in other words, fate. William Shakespeare s play, Romeo and Juliet has fate as an exceptionally crucial element which makes fate as important as any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The final deaths of the lovers is the consequence that he is talking about and the bitterness that starts the pathway to their ultimate tragedy is their first encounter, since they are supposed to be opposing enemies. It is also evident that Romeo cannot make intelligent decisions for himself when he says: ?Tut, I have lost myself. I am not here. / This is not Romeo. He?s somewhere else.?(Romeo and Juliet I i, 205 206). Romeo says he is not himself and that his mind is off somewhere else. As fate would have it, Romeo rushes head on into situations that were out of his control .For these reasons, Romeo and Juliet s first meeting was sure to happen, fate being the most powerful force at work, determining their future. Romeo and Juliet?s first meeting was utterly coincidental. Neither person had the intention to find each other. • 46. Compare And Contrast Conservatives And Liberals In the world of politics, there are two main political parties in the U.S. These two parties are conservatives and liberals. Conservatives are traditionally the Republican Party while liberals are the Democratic Party. Conservatives want to maintain the traditional values and want to conserve existing structure. Conservatives support limited government involvement in the private sphere, lower taxes, and free market (a disadvantage for minorities). Liberals are more open to progress and highly reliant in the government to solve problems (Squadrin 4). Liberals support more active role of government, policies to aid minorities and equal opportunity for all human beings. Both parties have opposing views when it comes to economic, political and social issues. Conservatives and liberals have different views when it comes to economic policies. According to Squadrin, author of Conservatives vs. Liberals, Liberals believe that the government should interfere and regulate the economy of the nation in order to protect citizens from corporate power while conservatives encourage a free market where the government should not regulate the economic system of the nation (Squadrin 6). Free market is a system where the prices of goods are determined by the buyers and government imposes few or no restrictions. Another example of their economic difference is when it comes to Taxes. Even though they both support low taxes, liberals believe that wealthy people should pay higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What advantages do fuel cells offer batteries for use in portable electronic devices? Do they have any disadvantages? Fuel Cells generate electricity by consuming fuel (often methanol), while traditional batteries store electricity and release it through a chemical reaction. A spent fuel cell is replenished in moments by simply refilling its reservoir or by replacing the spent fuel cartridge with a fresh one. Benefits of Fuel Cell:  Because there is no combustion in a fuel cell, fuel is converted to electricity more efficiently than any other electrical generating technology available today.  There are no moving parts in a fuel cell stack, making them more reliable and quieter than generators. Even the ancillary systems (fans, pumps, controls, etcetera) in a complete fuel cell unit are relatively mature and simple technologies that should prove extremely reliable.  Unlike batteries that must be disposed of once their chemicals are used up, fuel cell reactions do not degrade over time and can theoretically provide continuous electricity.  Traditional power plants must be large in order to gain efficiency, but fuel cells can achieve higher efficiencies at any scale, making them perfect for small portable, residential, and transportation uses.  Because fuel cells are clean and efficient at any size, they can be located almost anywhere, including dense urban areas where both air quality and ...
