● “Keeping up” with technology
â—Ź FOMO (Fear of Missing Out)

â—Ź Nomophobia
Digital citizens
learn to balance~
7. Technology can enhance our lives
â—Ź Balancing physical and virtual environments
â—Ź Purchasing the best tools for the person (Hardware, Software, Apps)
â—Ź Choosing the best tools for the job
â—Ź Advocating digital citizenship
â—Ź Choose the best voice for personal or professional communication

using technology along with other people—because a person must consider that he
lives with others on an interconnected Earth” (Rivero 2014, 7).
8. Watch what you are doing! Be Aware

time editing and posting about life than
actually living it

By telling our kids…
● You are SPECIAL (sure– we all are)
â—Ź You have much to share (but is it all necessary?)
● Delete those who don’t agree with you!
● Create a “personal dashboard” of incoming information
Do those ideas promote empathy and awareness of others? NO
13. “Aunt Valerie- Help! Can I get off the grid?”
My nephew asked about how to cut off
the constant incoming information!
