3. WHAT IS DIGITAL ARCHITECTURE
• The term ‘digital architecture’ has
been coined by William Gibson in 1984
-Digital architecture uses computer modeling,
programming, simulation and imaging to create both
virtual forms and physical structures
-The terminology has also been used to refer to other
aspects of architecture that feature digital technologies.
-Architecture created digitally might not involve the use
of actual materials.
-Digital architecture allows complex calculations that
delimit architects and allow a diverse range of complex
forms to be created.

also enhances
the possible
outcomes in
terms of design,
sparking
debates about
the role of
technology in
our society and
also creating

tablets
It is faster and more accurate.

been constructed.

emanating from a kitchen or dining
area.
It is also possible to fill the space with appropriate
furniture and decor choices to understand fully
what we have in store.

have automated thermostats that
learn their behaviors and connect
with them, they want doors and
windows that can be opened with
mobile apps, they want automated
safety systems, they want to know
how much power is their house
consuming on their smartphone, etc

16.  A beautifully sculpted and realistic exterior shell
may not contain the inner structure and
supports essential to a finished product. Hence,
the false sense of completeness of a project.
 Because of the versatility and user friendliness of CAD,
anyone who can use it already thinks he is an engineer.
 Younger architects and engineers who are often
heavily reliant on digital design may not be fully
grounded in engineering and architectural
methodology. These less-seasoned engineers and
architects go right to solving the problem
digitally, without fully defining and exploring
the problem first

 It can add animated people with Populate and lots
of small fixes .
 It isn’t cross-platform ( It is Windows only software )
 It can leak in completeness
 UV Mapping is more difficult to achieve ( It requires
a separate Modifier )

are also apps like Houzz, Formit, etc
 Easy to access as compare to other Auto Desk program
like Autocad, 3d max.
 It is very simple to use. It has a great user interface and
can allow the user to draw many object
 Animated clip or walk through can be created using
camera in sketch up
 It is not “professional” and won’t allow you to really
customize your sketches, it is only limited in design.

using textual, auditory or visual
information. This has permeated across
disciplines and lives of many and has
changed the way we communicate with
the world. Among other disciplines this
has also affected the way an architect
communicates with the world, to keep up
with the growing needs of communication
through social media platforms
