The document discusses the album covers of several bands and how they relate to the music and target audiences. It describes how You Me At Six, Go:Audio, The Beatles, Brand New, Nirvana, and Simple Plan designed their album covers to match their musical styles and appeal to teenagers. The Beatles' Abbey Road cover was effective because it depicted a famous location without needing text. Simple Plan's Still Not Getting Any... cover portrayed the singer's unhappy life through dark lighting and faces on an old bus.
I decided to look at more CD covers to help me get a better idea of my own cover as well as what would appeal to the audience and what would work with the song I have in mind.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
3. You Me At Six – Take Of Your Colours Take Of Your Colours appeals more to the music area it appeals to (Teenagers) with a brightly coloured album. Take Of Your Colours is the name of the album and the colour being splashed around is to symbolize the album title. This version of the album cover is the newer deluxe edition of the album and has a bigger appeal in looks.
4. Go:Audio – Made Up Stories Made Up Stories was Go:Audio’s First album and they tried to design a cover to fit with their unique style of music going for a more cartoon style and different album cover to others. The album again was mostly aimed at teenagers and the appeal of such a creative idea gives it this appeal.
5. The Beatles - Abbey Road Abbey Road was the last Albums the Beatles Recorded Together and at this time they were well known throughout the entire world. This is why the album cover is so effective because the album was called Abbey Road (as of where all the Beatles Albums were recorded) with them walking across the street at Abbey Road. The well known image and place means buyers know it’s The Beatles hence no need to add text to tell the buyer who the artist is or album is.
6. Brand New - Daisy Daisy is al album from Alternate Band Brand new. The album cover is very abstract and abnormal matching the alternative music styles of the band. The Album would stand out comparing to other albums which is something the band is known for in all of their album covers.
7. Nirvana - Nevermind Nevermind Is one of Nirvana’s Most famous albums and was a one made when gaining much popularity. The Album cover is well thought against in a rebelling against the government and the American Political Statement making very bold and strong Political statements. Nirvana were known for being the first real Grunge band and with a new age of music became a rebelling stage for many listeners so this album was a big appeal and caused much controversy with the cover.
8. Simple Plan - Still Not Getting Any… Simple Plans second studio album was titled “Still Not Getting Any…” to symbolize that although they were selling albums and singles were still not very well known or getting much credibility. The album title is simple plan’s normal style and is used in their merchandise and other albums/singles. The album itself is quite a bleak album with several songs trying different areas for the album doing their heaviest and softest songs to date. The albums main selling and first single from the album was entitled “Welcome To My Life” about the singer saying about his life and how it was not going well. This is showed very well in the album cover with the unhappy faces and dark lighting used for the band photo. The band photo is also took on a old bus showing not getting anywhere and feeling non important.
9. Simple Plan - Still Not Getting Any… During this time the band’s main singer had a different approach on writing songs after a difficult time with his brother diagnosed with cancer. Again this is portrayed in the album cover as not going to be a happy punk rock album as their previous. Low key lighting and dark coloured clothes are used very effectively and do create a major target audience for teenagers. The bands song from the second single “Crazy” is also aimed at teenagers and is shown well in the album cover “Tell me what's wrong with society”.
