2. The Beatles – Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely
Hearts Club Band
This Beatles CD cover was successful because
of its creativeness and how unique it was. The
use of bright bold colours on the Beatles in the
middle of the front cover makes them stand
out from everyone else, which shows that they
are the main people on the cover. It also
shows its their album. The use of bright
colours also catches peoples attention. I think
this album was also very successful because it
has lots of different celebrities from around
that time on the background surrounding the
Beatles. This made the CD cover different and
original because no other covers were like
this.
3. Green Day – 21st Century
Breakdown
The Green Day CD cover was successful because
of its modern and creative style. They have
made this CD cover modern by using graffiti
style writing and a picture that looks like its
graffiti on a wall. This gives it a modern feeling
because graffiti is associated with the modern
day and is seen every where. This CD cover was
probably most successful with the teenage
audience, the picture of a couple kissing and the
use of graffiti suggests this because this is what
teenagers are stereotypically like in the modern
day getting girlfriends/boyfriends and doing or
into graffiti. The CD is called 21st century
breakdown which the name will appeal to the
younger audience as well.
4. Coldplay – Viva LaVida
This CD cover was successful because of its
striking background and originality. The
background is different from over CD covers
because its a painting of he French in battle. I
like they way the album is called `Viva LaVida`
and so is the painting this links the painting to
the CD. The title of the CD looks like it has
been painted on the cover which also links to
the painting in the background as they both
use paint. I think its good how the paint has
been splattered across the picture which links
to the idea of the blood being splattered in the
battle from people dying. The name Viva
LaVida means `Long live life` which is what
the CD is about.
