This document discusses JSTOR and Portico's efforts to preserve the scholarly record in digital format. It notes that scholarly communication is shifting from paper to digital, and libraries are moving to electronic-only collections. JSTOR digitizes journal backfiles to improve access and reduce storage costs. Portico serves as a "dark archive" to ensure permanent access to born-digital scholarly content. Both work to ensure the long-term preservation of and access to scholarly works in service of the academic community.

The page was disseminated via Twitter from accounts operated by the Library, @BeckettLibrary and @BeckettResearch, including targeted tweets to @WDD and individual academics. With over 4,500 and 1,500 followers respectively these accounts are well subscribed and received several "retweets". The guide, whilst highlighting and strengthening the role of the library as a tool for researchers, was also an advocacy tool to engage academics in OA. This paper will explore the context and technology of this initiative and present data from Twitter analytics and so called "altmetrics" as a means of visualising how research is shared and disseminated online and which are potential indicators of impact beyond the traditional readership of scholarly material, especially in conjunction with OA.

For many libraries, an institutional repository is an online archive to collect, preserve, and make accessible the intellectual output of an institution. For a growing bloc, the goal is to go further, beyond knowledge preservation to knowledge creation. These libraries are using their repositories to provide faculty with a proven publishing option by facilitating the production and distribution of original content often too niche for traditional publishers.
How do metadata librarians sift the incoming metadata with these different goals in mind? How do they optimize content for discovery in a wide range of resources such as online catalogs, external research databases, and major search engines? For a library that is also providing publishing services, what additional steps are necessary?
As the provider of Digital Commons, a repository and publishing platform for over 350 institutions, bepress has first-hand experience with these topics, and our consultants advise regularly on best practices for collecting, publishing, distributing, and archiving content. This presentation is intended for library professionals, whether their goal is to collect previously published works or to go further into library-led publishing. After an overview of common sources and destinations for metadata, attendees will come away with a set of considerations for streamlining workflows and optimizing content for discovery and distribution in major venues.

Stronger together: community initiatives in journal managementJisc
There has been a recent growth of initiatives to address common problems regarding current and long-term access to e-journal content. Jisc is at the forefront of many of these with the close participation and active input of educational institutions.
This session aims to summarise the current state of key themes with pointers to future directions of areas such as sustainability, the move towards e-only environments, and shared consortia approaches. It will provide an overview and panel discussion on developing the supporting infrastructure to meet the needs of users. The discussion will focus on how institutions, community bodies and service providers can best work together to ensure sustainable, long-term initiatives by seeking to introduce uniformity, standardisation and collaboration to an even greater extent.
The session will introduce two new Jisc-supported projects in this area, the Keepers Registry Extra and SafeNet initiatives, and discuss how these fit alongside existing Jisc services such as Knowledge Base+, UK LOCKSS Alliance, Journal Archives and JUSP (Journal Usage Statistics Portal). The panel will address how this catalogue of services contributes towards a coherent strategy in the management of e-journal content.

Stewardship of the Digital Scholarly Record and Digital Published HeritageNASIG
This presentation discusses how The Keepers Registry and the network of Keepers is attempting to tackle the issue of digital preservation for electronic serials specifically. First identifying the scope of the problem being addressed, it moves on to the successes, in preservation and in measuring that preservation, before moving on to the challenges still to be surmounted. It touches upon some of the specific cases on which this preservation is focussing, including legal deposit and regional library consortia, as well as engagement with OA journals. It finishes with the broader plan of action to help allow the Keepers to accomplish their digital preservation goals, laid out in the statement they issued last August, calling upon all stakeholders in the world of scholarly communication, notably both publishers and research libraries, and setting actions they can take to help in this mission.

It has brought phenomenal change in information collection, preservation and dissemination scene of the world. It is complex entity because it completely based on ICT systems. A distinction is often made between content that was created in a digital format, known as born-digital, and information that has been converted from a physical medium, e.g. paper, by digitizing. It should also be noted that not all electronic content is in digital data format. Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing.
