 By the end of the session, the participants will be
able to:
1. plan Tier assignments based on MIs in four language
skills
2. design tiered assessment tools to be well equipped
for classroom practice
3. evaluate each others plans by providing feed
forward (remarks)
Synopsis
 Unitary view of intelligence vs Multiple
intelligence.
 3 points to consider for MI differentiation:
(i Readiness ii Interest iii Learning profile)
 Differentiated instructions and on going
assessment are inseparable.
 Flexible grouping vs ability grouping
 Tiered activities allow students with varying
abilities to focus on essential understandings and
skills but at different levels of complexity.

Activity 2 :Tiered Assignments
(a) Each group will go through the given sample
differentiated plan and will design their own plan
according to their class level.
 Time for the activity: 25 mins
(b) Each group will design tiered assessment tools
 Time for the activity: 10 mins
Total time: 35 mins
Adjusting the task
Activity 3:Group presentation
 Each presenter will come and present the tier
activity plan.
 Feed forward will be provided in the end of the
presentation.

  • 3. Objectives:  By the end of the session, the participants will be able to: 1. plan Tier assignments based on MIs in four language skills 2. design tiered assessment tools to be well equipped for classroom practice 3. evaluate each others plans by providing feed forward (remarks)
  • 4. Synopsis  Unitary view of intelligence vs Multiple intelligence.  3 points to consider for MI differentiation: (i Readiness ii Interest iii Learning profile)  Differentiated instructions and on going assessment are inseparable.  Flexible grouping vs ability grouping  Tiered activities allow students with varying abilities to focus on essential understandings and skills but at different levels of complexity.
  • 5. Activity 1 :Pre Assessment  Select a concept from your teaching experience in language.  Predict various readiness strategies.  Suggest different learning styles based on multiple intelligences.

Activity 2 :Tiered Assignments (a) Each group will go through the given sample differentiated plan and will design their own plan according to their class level.  Time for the activity: 25 mins (b) Each group will design tiered assessment tools  Time for the activity: 10 mins Total time: 35 mins
  • 11. Activity 3:Group presentation  Each presenter will come and present the tier activity plan.  Feed forward will be provided in the end of the presentation.
