Different Types Of Human Trafficking
Human trafficking is an ongoing criminal industry that affects the lives of many individuals as well
as deny them the simple right of freedom. There are three main kinds of human trafficking which
are all different from each other, yet still impact a huge population of the U.S. Sex trafficking, labor
trafficking, and debt bondage are the different kinds of human trafficking that affect people in the
US. In addition, within sex trafficking, there is also the existence of child sex trafficking and
prostitution. According to the International Labor Organization, there is an estimated 209.9 million
incidents of human trafficking worldwide.
The Department of Home Land Security defines human trafficking as modern–day form of slavery
involving the illegal trade of people for exploitation or commercial gain. This definition applies to
the three different forms of human trafficking, but the purpose behind each one are quite different.

A lack of strong labor protections is just some of the vulnerabilities that can lead to labor trafficking.
In addition, victims of labor trafficking are affected by this due to different reasons like perhaps
being promised a higher paying job or new and exciting opportunities. Labor trafficking includes
but are not limited to: people forced to working in homes as domestic servants, farmworkers
coerced through violence as they harvest crops, or factory workers held in inhumane conditions.
Additionally, in construction work, health and beauty services, door–to–door sales crew, and
carnivals. Although the current information being presented is discussing only about what occurs in
America, globally there are 14.2 million people trapped in forced labor in industries including
agriculture, construction, domestic work, and manufacturing, according to the International Labor

The Ransom Theory
I really appreciate Evan's through insight on the Ransom theory. I think that the distinction of the
Ransom theory from the others is that it involves the third party – Satan in the loop. It is important
to realize the existence of the evil force on earth. John states clearly that "We know that we are
children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one." (1 Jn. 5:19) And we
can see from the temptation in the wilderness story, Satan is already the enemy of Christ. (Matt. 4) It
is clear that Satan plays a significant role to tempt humans intentionally for them to abandon God. It
happened in the very early beginning of the human history. Thus, the Ransom theory has a strong
point to include Satan to emphasize Jesus'

Sex Trafficking Research Paper
"Each year, an estimated 800,000 women and children are trafficked across international borders–
though additional numbers of women and girls are trafficked within countries (Soroptimist)." Sex
trafficking is when females are sexually exploited for the intention of forced sex. The pimps who
exploit these people earn money in return. There is sexual exploitation that occurs through
commercialization such as pornography and prostitution. Sex trafficking does not only occur for
women and girls, there is a small population of men and boys in this industry. There has been an
increase in sexual trafficked victims in Europe. Over 30,146 people have been registered as victims
of human trafficking and 69% of these 30,146 people are sexually exploited ... Show more content

When victims are taken in, they face legal barriers because their forms of immigration and other
legal documents are taken away. The victims are instilled with fear, which is why most do not
attempt to escape. Pimps move their victims from place to place due to which the victims face
language barriers and have limited knowledge of the habitat and people around them. The victims
do not have a lot of money, which complicates their lives even more. They are helpless and cannot
gain freedom. (Deshpande, Nour)
Many criminal activities spring up due to sex trafficking. One is obviously prostitution and the
second most common criminal act is selling of drugs. The victims would sell the drugs, and when
arrested, they would be punished. Sex trafficking increases crimes and is the cause of the
devastation of many lives. There has to be drastic measurements taken to combat this problem.
Prostitution should be completely criminalized and when a prostitute is arrested, he or she should
not be convicted but instead their boss should be. The pimps are the ones that make the people sell
their bodies so the pimps should be punished under the law, not the victims. Since sex trade is an
industry that involves a lot of foreign transportation, there should be stricter borderline security so
less of these acts can occur. Sex trade is a rising industry and should be destroyed or else it will

Goblin Market
Looking at Feminism Through the Lens of Religion in "Goblin Market"
In "Goblin Market," Christina Rossetti presents a complicated, multi–layered poem with both
feminist and religious elements. She focuses on the contrast between the bondage and freedom of
women. Through imagery and symbolism, Rossetti teaches a feminist lesson through a religious
perspective. Imagery reveals the bondage of women, while symbolism is used to represent their
freedom. The poem is a process of facing challenges and overcoming them. While the plot seems
religious in nature, characters and other details show a feminist purpose that
Rossetti could have in writing "Goblin Market."
The rich imagery in the narrator's numerous lists of fruit represents specific areas of ... Show more

The narrator describes the girls' day saying they "kneaded bread"(Rossetti 205), "churned butter"
(207), and "[t]alked as modest maidens should"(209). These activities are traditionally female.
Rossetti elevates females above daily chores by portraying women as victorious and ultimately
savior–like in the end of the poem. Thus, Rossetti uses the symbolic representation of Lizzie as a
way to lift up women.
Additionally symbolic, the goblins may represent human men. Since they are the antagonists of this
poem, and a woman is the hero of the poem, it would seem Rossetti is purposely giving women the
upper hand. This "upper hand" does not last forever. The conclusion of the work leaves both Lizzie
and Laura married and living domestic lives. Readers can question the intentions of Rossetti in
ending the work in this way. She may be sadly accepting society's perceptions of women, or she
may be making a point that even if women can be strong and heroic, the man is always over them.
The latter idea would be controversial to the bulk of the poem, but is still a possibility. By creating a
hero who is a woman, Rossetti goes against

Human Trafficking Thesis
Opening Statement The crisis of human trafficking has been an issue for centuries, what is the root
of the problem? Why is this atonable crime still an issue in 2015? Exercise of human trafficking is
stimulated by the absence of economic advantage, opportunity in the work force, and gender
discrimination. As Shelley says in her article, "Human Trafficking as Transnational Organized
Crime," there are both push and pull factors that stimulate the result of human trafficking. The pull
factor incorporates the demand for workers and the idea of better living conditions. However, she
goes on to say that this alone cannot serve as the main cause because most of these conditions have
existed. Shelley believes that the main reason why human trafficking ... Show more content on

To begin with and the most obvious, slavery is no longer recognized as a legal institution. Also,
slaveholders now cannot depend on property law which allowed the slaves to be in their possession.
Another change is debt bondage. Debt bondage is when enslaved people are suppose to repay the
costs of their own trafficking and living expenses. The slaves will get paid for their services
however, the money typically will go towards their traveling costs. Even though debt bondage has
been around since classical time, the difference between then and now is that in today's time it
generally involves abduction or imprisonment. Kevin Bales, professor of sociology at Roehampton
University in London, England argues that, "Those held in modern–day slavery are viewed as
expendable in a way that those held in traditional slavery were not." Bales further makes the
analogy that buying a slave in today's time is like purchasing an inexpensive bike whereas, in
previous times it was like buying a

Critical Analysis Of Incidents In The Life Of A Slave Girl...
Introduction Incidents in the life of a slave girl by Harriet Jacobs accentuates that the slavery system
is evil and no good can be associated with it. Jacobs shows that slavery by its very nature
extinguishes the morality and ethical values of slaveholders. Likewise, she highlights on the
physical, psychological, health, social, and mental adverse implications of the slavery systems to the
victims. Contrary, the seventh Vice–President of the United States of America and longtime Senator
John C. Calhoun propagates on the significance of the slavery institution citing the benefits to the
slaveholders and the slaves. This paper will provide a critical evaluation of Harriet Jacob's
condemnation of slavery in the context of the address by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

At the time, acknowledgment of universal basic rights and freedoms of all people had spread across
all States and slavery was recognized as a "necessary evil". Calhoun stated "I take the higher
ground. I hold that in the present state of civilization, where two races of different origin, and
distinguished by color, and other physical differences, as well as intellectual, are brought together,
the relation now existing in the slaveholding States between the two, is, instead of an evil, a good–a
positive good". His primary justification of the sentiments was buttressed on the defects of
capitalism, interventionism, and white supremacy. Calhoun deconstructed the notion that slavery
was evil by presenting the inevitability of the conflict between labor and capital. He noted that in
other jurisdictions such as the United Kingdom, a proportion of the population was not always
treated right. The speech anchored the prominence of the Senator as an advocate of the rights of the
minority in the South, but he did it at the expense of another minority; African American.
The Context and Audience of Jacob's Narrative The novel was written and published at a time when
slavery was a sensitive issue and had divided Americans. In the 1850s, Americans had emotive
discussions on whether to allow slavery in the newly created territories such as Kansas and
California. Temporary

Analysis of 'The Escape'
Analysis of the story "The Escape" by W.S. Maugham
William Somerset Maugham is one of the best known English writers of the 20th century. He was
not only a novelist, but also a one of the most successful dramatist and short–story writers.
Maugham wants the readers to draw their own conclusion about the characters and events described
in his novels. His reputation as a novelist is based on the following prominent books: "Of Human
Bondage"; "The Moon and Sixpence"; and "The Razor's Edge".
Though Maugham doesn't denounce the contemporary social order, he is critical of the morals and
the narrow–mindedness. Realistic portrayal of life, keen character observation, and interesting plots

and lovely eyes") which are peculiar to the description of ordinary situations concerning love
affairs. All these devices increase the ironical

Spinoza: Clarifications and Criticisms on Freedom Essay
Baruch de Spinoza, or as later known by Benedictus de Spinoza, was a 17th century philosopher
that came under much hostility because of his renunciation of the accepted religious perceptions of
god. This is not to say that Spinoza repudiated god's existence, on the contrary, Spinoza considered
himself to believe in god, but in a different more natural sense. Spinoza received much denunciation
and criticism for his beliefs from religious figure heads. He was excommunicated from the Jewish
community because his ideas were contrary and revolutionary to the traditional Jewish religion. In
addition to that, all works of Spinoza were considered prohibited by the Roman Catholic Church.
This is not to say that no one agreed with Spinoza, in fact, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The cause of error (P II Pr. 49 Sch.) is the last major theme for part II.
The third part is mainly about human psychology. Spinoza elucidates how the power characteristic
of the human mind is understanding, and that we should exercise our understanding. This is
established through the proposition (PII Pr. 6) that "Each thing, in so far as it is in itself, endeavors
to persist in its own being."
Part four is about human bondage, and continues the investigation into human behavior that part
three hit on. Part four is the key that summarizes the Ethics by what man can do to escape that
bondage with the power we have by taking action and preserving what is to our own advantage.
"The more every man endeavors and is able to seek his own advantage, that is, to preserve his own
being, the more he is endowed with virtue." (P IV Pr. 20) What Spinoza is saying is that virtue and
power (seeking one's advantage) is synonymous.
The last part, part five is about human freedom, the type of freedom that of which is acted out by
necessity. Intuitive knowledge comes out to play in part five where "the intellectual love of god" is
brought up. By the love of god, human can gain some freedom and immortality.
We have now taken an extremely basic look into Spinoza's belief system which gives us some
background into the criticisms of Spinoza's view. We can now delve into the criticisms and at the

Common Types Of Human Trafficking
Another, a significant factor of human trafficking is the different type of trafficking that still exists
today. There are three most common types of human trafficking they are sex trafficking, forced
labor, and debt bondage, also known as domestic debt slavery.
Firstly, sexual exploitation is commonly reported and has become the utmost acknowledged types of
human trafficking. Furthermore, both women and children are subjected to sex trafficking and are
compelled to partake in commercial sex deeds. Generally speaking, in the United States, if a child is
under the age of 18 who has engaged in commercial sex acts they are believed to be a sex trafficking
victim. It is identified that 80% of women and girls are trafficked across national borders.

Characteristics Of Somerset Maugham's Writing Style
William Somerset Maugham was considered to be the popular English fiction writer of the 20th
century. He wrote many novels, plays and short stories, many of those were admired as master
pieces. It drew attention of the critics and readers due to its multi–dimensional aspects, which
offered entertainment including the serious issues of human life, for that matter it resulted in being
popular fiction of the time.
His popularity urged many critics to analyze his work from different dimensions. The critics
discussed his works with the advantage to explore the qualities of writer as well as to point out the
flaws of his work. The critics discovered many themes along with stylistic features of his novels in
plays and short stories. Maugham has produced a large number of fictional works and it seems
impossible to bring in all the reviews of his works. The literature review is generally based on

The simplicity as a common trait in all of his works, had influence on his readers and critics.
Swinnerton admires him as a true story teller due to his plain and modest writing style. Maugham
wrote for the writing's sake, he neither interfered in political matters nor he struggled to be the
guardian of society (19). Jack Collins examined similar characteristic in Maugham's style. He
justifies popularity of Maugham as a writer by providing two reasons: firstly, he has the capability
to create a plot which is direct, it goes on with "linear clarity" that no one can find obscurity in the
plot. Secondly, his quality to develop the "dramatic intensity" has remarkable effects on the story
that it turns the characters into "demonic forces" (16). This intensity in his works attracts the readers
to pay honest attention while reading. His works are the satisfaction of those people who like to "get

The Global Impact Of Human Trafficking
The Global impact of Human Trafficking Human trafficking is a global issue that receives very little
attention throughout the modern world; this issue effects every country on the global and all
different types of cultures. Hillary Clinton said in 2009 "Trafficking thrives in the shadows, and it
can be easy to dismiss it as something that happens to someone else, in somewhere else, but that is
not the case. Trafficking is a crime that involves every nation on earth, and that includes our own."
(Behnke, 2015) This report will be focusing on how the different types of human trafficking play a
role in different types of societies. I will explore the how economic impact on the western world
because of human trafficking for labor to the impact of human trafficking for sexual exploitation in
poverty–stricken and industrial countries, while also looking at the different types of individuals that
are impacted by human trafficking. I will explain some of the local and global laws in place for
human trafficking victims and their traffickers. This will include the laws that the United Nations
has put in position to safeguard victims of human trafficking throughout the world. Asking the
question, can we do more on a local and global scale to protect victims of trafficking and the
prosecution of traffickers and if so what? Human tracking has been an active part of societies

The Fires Of Jubilee By Stephen B. Oats Essay
The ethical stance one has as an adult is more often than not the result of the cultural conditioning
that one received as a child; however, as one grows to adulthood it is necessary for One to examine
One's own ethical stances . A way that people can be made to re–examine their values is by reading
thought provoking texts such as Steven B. Oats' "Fires of Jubilee."The book reviews historical
accounts of the life of Nate Turner, who lead a rebellion against the slave owners of South Hampton
County Virginia. The text shows how trauma and disillusion can hinder even the most intelligent
while forcing One to ask Oneself the ethical questions of the not only One's complicity in slavery
but also when if ever is it justifiable to take the life of another?
The book "The Fires of Jubilee" is a historical recount by Stephen B. Oats of the life of Nate Turner
who in 1831 lead a slave rebellion in Virginia's South Hampton County. Early in his life, Nate
Turner was recognized by his community as bright, intelligent, and a natural leader. Not only the
slave community, but also the master and his family were in awe of his ability to read without being
taught, and of his knowledge of events that happened before his birth. For all his life Nate is told of
his future glory. However, when he reaches the age of twelve, he is dismayed by his assigned to
work in the fields, an overly ordinary assignment for someone who was destined for greatness.

Plato's The Republic: Analysis of the Chapter Entitled...
One of the world's most revered philosophers, Plato, was born in 428 BC. As a young man, Plato,
became a devout student of Socrates. Plato quickly adopted Socrates' teachings and turned his
studies toward the question of virtue and noble character. After the execution of his beloved mentor,
Plato founded the first English university called the Academy. He wanted thinkers to have a place
were they could word toward better government for Greek cities. Over the duration of his life Plato
wrote many books, and his most influential work is The Republic. Out of The Republic comes a

With this new enlightenment, the mind must learn to accept the new reality as an individual and
move forward with this new found freedom. In the 1999 film The Matrix, ideas that Plato presented
in the "Allegory of the Cave" resurfaced as the story line of this film. In the film there are two
worlds. A virtual reality and a true reality. Just as cave dwellers in the Allegory know of only one
reality, the inhabitants of the virtual reality(the matrix) know of only one world, even though that
world does not even truly exist. All the experiences a person has in the matrix are only a mental
representation of what they believe to be happening, similar to the cave dwellers' belief that the
shadows presented before them were actually real. The matrix is a mental bondage that has been
placed on the entire population of human beings just as Plato's chains and shackles represented the
mental bondage of the cave dwellers. Escaping the matrix was painful, just as entering the sunlight
for the cave dwellers. Comprehending the new world outside the matrix was the equivalent of
comprehending the world outside the cave. Once free of the bondage of the matrix, a person can be
lead to the door of acceptance of the this new reality; however just as the cave dwellers, a person
has to walk through the door at one's own will.(The Matrix) Today many people live a "fantasy

Of Human bondage and Frankenstein share a similarity in the way Christianity shapes the
development of the central characters. In Of Human Bondage the protagonist Philip, is brought up

confined and in ridged terms of church doctrine. The fear of eternal damnation functioned as Philips
moral compass through this youth, guiding him to act a certain timid manor. Upon reaching

religion's lifestyle. In Marry Shelly's novel Frankenstein the monster grows up without religion,

My Bondage And My Freedom And Frederick Douglass Analysis
Authors often exaggerate or revise small details of their own books in order to produce an emotion
in the reader instead of a factual representation. However, this does not make authors to be liers,
only fabricators. In times or social unjust it is necessary for the oppressed to voice their opinions for
the purpose of gaining equality. As it may seem immoral to twist truths, if done correctly it will
strengthen the author's message, without compromising the authenticity of the plot. One can see this
in The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, along with his, My Bondage and My Freedom.

He was a genuine African, and had inherited some of the so called magical powers, said to be

some kind of magical capacity, different from his narrative where he rejected such beliefs. Through
using David Blight as a lens one may observe a shift of Douglass' intentions in order to put a greater
emphasis his own on African beliefs for the purpose of bringing freedom to his brethren. In Blight's
introduction he makes the observation, "Readers will find many influences of the Garrisonian
doctrines, especially the attacks on religious hypocrisy and the remarkable moment in chapter two
when Douglass compares trusted slaves who pleased overseers with the slaves of political parties ...
the book is as much an abolitionist polemic as it is a revealing autobiography" (10). Blight's remarks
direct one to consider that Douglass was pursuing two causes, the abolitionist cause as well as his
own. In pursuing the former, in 1845 Douglass was still associated with Garrison, by later
accentuating other slaves as knowledgeable and in touch with their roots, in My Bondage and My
Freedom, Douglass elucidates the African race as compassionate men rather than brutes. Such an
argument leads to the conclusion Africans are well overdue for their freedom. Through examination
of both documents one can see an evident transformation in

Death speaks: There was a merchant in Baghdad who sent his servant to market to buy provisions

Death that jostled me. She looked at me and made a threatening gesture; now, lend me your horse,
and I will ride away from this city and avoid my fate. I will go to Samarra and there death will not

Maugham writes of the merchant going to the marketplace to confront Death about the encounter
with his servant. This gesture shows that not only did the merchant care for the life of his servant,
but it also shows that he had a certain curiosity about Death and her intentions. The act of
confronting Death also shows that the merchant did not fear Death since he believed that Death
posed no threat to him because she was here explicitly for his servant. Death is the main character,
as well as the narrator of this story, yet the author provides us with no real description of her other
than calling her a woman. Death narrates this tale in a way that leads us to believe that she is almost
an omniscient being in the way that she is able to describe the dialogue between the servant and his
master, but an omniscient narrator is incapable of being surprised himself or herself and we find this
not to be the case in this story. I believe the author intended to do this in order to make Death appear
mysterious, yet also familiar to the reader. Once Death is given human elements, like the ability to
be surprised, it gives the illusion that one can cheat death. I find it rather peculiar that in this tale we
are led to believe that Death was very easily recognizable. The servant knew immediately that the
woman that "jostled"(pg. 4) him was Death. We also read that the merchant went to the marketplace
and could see Death standing in the crowd(pg. 4).

Human Trafficking And Slavery
Human trafficking and slavery has been in existence across the globe for thousands of years. Many
forms of human trafficking and slavery is taking place in our world today. It is horrible and no one
should have to experience what those victims have gone through. Human Trafficking and slavery
should be stopped and laws should be enforced.
Slavery was banned worldwide more than a century ago. Unfortunately, thousands of people are still
victims each year. It is estimated that there is approximately 40.3 million people subjected to slavery
in the world currently. This includes 10 million children, 24.9 million people forced to labor, 15.4
million forced to marriage lastly 4.8 million people forced in sexual exploation ("AntiSlavery" ILO
2017). "Slavery implies ownership" states Susa Thatun a child protection specialist at UNICEF
(Human Trafficking and Slavery. Robert Kinur. 2012). That statement is correct. Slavery comes in
all forms. For instance, a person can be forced to work, through coercion or mental and physical
threat. Someone may be dehumanized and treated as a commodity or may be sold as "property" and
some may have restrictions placed on their freedom.
The most common form of Slavery is Debt Bondage. Debt Bondage is a form of slavery that holds
its victims in an endless cycle of debt and poverty. Extreme poverty often forces parents to offer
themselves or their own children as collateral against a loan. Though, they are promised they will

the world or somewhere near you. It can happen practically anywhere and to anyone. At the end of it
all the people that are taken all loose one thing and that's freedom. That is why the U.S. government
has made the situation of human trafficking as their top priorities. The government has tried to make
it stop by creating laws to eliminate all kinds of human trafficking and keep all victims safe whether
they are near or away from home. The government gets support from different organizations that
have hotlines that share data about the trafficking happening and protection strategies to help people
that have been involved in trafficking and that cannot fend for themselves. These projects or

Virginia Woolf's Of Human Bondage
Of Human Bondage is, as we all know, written from Philip's point of view, and therefore we
sympathize with Philip, care about what goes on his life, and even feel attached to him. But, if the
story had been written from say, Mildred's point of view, we may not feet the same about Philip.
Chances are, his characterization would be completely different because of how Mildred views him,
and we would probably grow to dislike Philip as much as we learned to dislike Mildred. Many have
heard the saying, history is written by the winners, meaning we more commonly sympathize with
the winners because it is they who got to tell the story, and we learn to dislike the opposing side, the
way we dislike the British of the Revolutionary, the way we dislike ... Show more content on

We would have been able to understand her thoughts about Philip, her odd distaste for him, how she
genuinely felt about the German man she left Philip for. We may view Philip in a different light, as a
weak, easily manipulated man, or as a man who didn't care, didn't understand her situation. While
we would still, most likely, see the faults in Mildred, the way we did with Philip, we would probably
think of them in a kinder way. After all, we all disliked Mildred when she left Philip, who clearly
loved her, to be with the German man. Yet, is that not what Philip did do Nora, who really did love
him? The two characters have many similarities, yet we view one as good, and one as bad. Both
raised by people other than their parents, both concerned with money, both easily distracted, both in
love– just, not necessarily with each other. They both turned to others for money when they were
struggling; Philip wishing his uncle would die, Mildred begging Philip for help. Neither of these
characters are exactly "good" people, but they are seen as opposing forces of good versus evil. It is
in this way that, through perspective, we choose who are the good people, and who are the bad. If

Historical View Of Slavery
This paper shall examine A Scriptural, Ecclesiastical, and Historical View of Slavery, from the Days
of the Patriarch Abraham to Nineteenth Century (1864) by John Henry Hopkins, Bishop of the
Episcopal Diocese of Vermont, and Critical History and Defense of the Old Testament Canon by
Moses Stuart, pastor of the Centre Church of New Haven and scholar at Andover Theological
Seminary. Hopkins and Stuart–notable northern writers on Christian theology–were theologically
compatible with their southern contemporaries. This harmony becomes readily apparent when
comparing them with Thornton Stringfellow's "A Brief Examination of Scripture Testimony on the
Institution of Slavery" and "Slavery and the Bible" in De Bow's Review. Two biblical proslavery ...

In fact, many maintained, the Apostles affirmed human bondage. A specific example was the Epistle
of Paul to Philemon, in which Paul addressed Philemon on how he should treat his runaway slave,
Onesimus, who had converted to Christianity. An anonymous author, published in De Bow's
Review, which was "one of the most important antebellum journals in the South," and Hopkins
argued Paul's message was not one of abolition, but of perpetual servitude. This was not something
Paul would have done, if enslavement was sinful, declared De Bow's Review, "Now, had holding
slaves been a crime, Paul's duty to Philemon would have required him to instruct Philemon, that he
had no rights over Onesimus, but that attempt to hold him in servitude, was criminal[.]" Moreover,
as an Apostle of Christ, Paul had an obligation to instruct Christians according to His commands, as
they pertained to human bondage, believed Hopkins. Therefore, he questioned, "Why does [Paul]
not write to his disciple, Philemon, and rebuke him for the awful sin of holding a fellow–man in
bondage, and charge it upon him, as a solemn duty, to emancipate his slaves, at the peril of his
soul?" Hopkins succinctly offered an answer to this question, surmising, "St. Paul was inspired, and
knew the will of the Lord Jesus Christ, and was only intent on obeying it." Seemingly, writers in
both regions read the

Child Labor In India
Human rights of children are being violated in India because of child labor. Child labor is the illegal
use of children in a business or organization. Child labor is inhumane and is a human rights
violation to children because it takes away their childhood and forces them to do work that is
harmful to their bodies and to their minds. In India, there are approximately 1.3 million people and
other problems in the country are making it hard for the government to find time to make a solution
to illegal child labor. The child labor in India is the result of debt bondage from families,
kidnappings, lack of education, and no government intervention. Debt bondage is a major
contributing factor to child labor in India. Debt bondage is when a family borrows money and takes
a loan and sends someone to work with them to pay off the debt and interest. This system sounds
good in theory but has never really worked out because debt bondage occurs when a person needing
money "pledges his/her labor, or that of someone under his/her control" as an exchange for the loan
(International Child Labor Study). In some situations "the interest on the loan is so high that it
cannot be paid; in others, the laborer is deemed to repay the interest on the loan" but not the actual
money borrowed (International Child Labor Study). This then leads to the loan being inherited and
it ends up becoming a debt among many generations. In this process children are being dragged in

Modern Slavery: The Different Forms Of Human Trafficking
Every year, thousands of women, men, and children get caught up in human trafficking. Human
trafficking is when different kinds of labor are forced upon typically work labor or sexual
exploitation. People can get trafficked in their own country and abroad. Human trafficking consists
of three core elements, which are the action, the means, and the purpose. The action means the
recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons. The means includes threat of or
use of force, deception, coercion, abuse of power or position of vulnerability. Lastly, the purpose is
always exploitation. The exploitation can include, but is not limited to, sexual exploitation, forced
labor or services, slavery or practices similar to slavery, servitude or the removal of organs.
Human trafficking affects every single country in the world, even right before your eyes. Stories
about human trafficking are often set in far–away places, like cities in Cambodia, small towns in
Moldova, or rural parts of Brazil; but human trafficking happens ... Show more content on

Labor trafficking is comparable to a form of modern slavery, existing globally, even in the United
States. Labor traffickers included recruiters, contractors, employers, and many others. They are
violent and sadistic, using threats, lies, bondage debt, or other forms of coercion to force people into
hard labor in multiple industries. Labor traffickers falsely promise of a high–paying job or exciting
education or travel opportunities to trap people into difficult labor. The victims of this ferocious
trafficking find that the jobs are much more difficult, and they are forced to work with little to no
pay. Their employers exert such physical or psychological control by using physical abuse, debt
bondage, confiscation of passports or money that the victim believes they have no other choice but

Orca Captivity Research Paper
Killer whales, otherwise called orcas, are the biggest individuals from the dolphin family and the
top predator in their ecosystem. They are a standout amongst the most wise marine animals,
particularly because of their intense faculties of sight and hearing. Their excellence has surprised
people for years, yet for some orcas imprisonment restricts their opportunity and delight in life. It
isn't just harming the physical and psychological wellness of these creatures, but also represents a
risk to coaches, yet individuals keep on profiting from killer whales. In bondage, numerous orcas

The Theme Of Bondage And Freedom
The Theme of Bondage and Freedom in African American Literature Shayla Carew Liberty
University Author Note: Shayla Carew, Master's of Teaching and Learning English–program,
Liberty University. Contact: scarew@liberty.edu Abstract Black history is significant not only as a
part of the black community, but as a critical part of American history for all races and genders.
Because of the importance of the history of African Americans, Black History Month is celebrated
annually. During this special time of remembrance, people of different races take time to reflect on
the historical events that not only shaped the history of African Americans, but the history of
America. There are a variety of methods used in comprehending black history. Reading African
American literature allows readers to gain a higher–quality understanding of the events that shaped
black history. This paper will closely examine the theme of bondage and freedom, which is a
prominent theme in African American literature that speaks volumes about black history.
Introduction Due to recent events, black history has been frequently discussed. For many African
Americans, the racial tensions being exemplified today bring back painful memories in the history
of black people. An enormous fraction of black history involves the subject of bondage and freedom
the African slaves experienced. Understanding how far the African American people have come is
important in comprehending the feelings

Slavery In Huckleberry Finn Analysis
The topic of slavery is maybe the most understood part of this novel. Since it's the first production,
Twain's point of view on slavery and thoughts encompassing bigotry have been fervent. In his own
and open life, Twain was passionately abolitionist subjugation. Considering this data, it is anything
but difficult to see that The Experiences of Huckleberry Finn gives a moral story to clarify how and
why bondage isn't right. Twain utilizes Jim, the primary character, and a slave, to exhibit the
humankind of slaves. Jim communicates the confounded human feelings and battles in the way of
his life. To avert being sold and compelled to isolated from his family, Jim flees from his proprietor,
Miss Watson, and works towards acquiring opportunity so he can purchase his family's flexibility. In
Huckleberry Finn, Twain, by uncovering the false ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In any case, even by Twain's opportunity, things had not as a matter of course shown signs of
improvement for blacks in the South. In this light, we may read Twain's delineation of servitude as a
symbolic representation of the state of blacks in the United States even after the nullification of
subjection. Generally as subjugation places the respectable and good Jim under the control of white
society, regardless of how debased that white society might be, so too did the deceptive prejudice
that emerged close to the end of Remaking persecute dark men for strange and misleading reasons.
In Huckleberry Finn, Twain, by uncovering the affectation of bondage, exhibits how prejudice twists
the oppressors as much as it does the individuals who are mistreated. The outcome is a universe of
good perplexity, in which apparently "great" white individuals, for example, Miss Watson and Sally
Phelps express no worry about the treachery of bondage or the remorselessness of isolating Jim
from his

Human Trafficking And The Media
Human trafficking has become an emerging worldwide public health crisis that has been
understudied and under published by both society and the media. Human trafficking has affected
men, woman, and children in varying ways. Human trafficking is not solely sex trafficking it is
segmented into various categories. Trafficking includes but is not limited to sexual exploitation,
forced labor, debt bondage, involuntary servitude, and trafficking of cells and organs. The way the
media frames human trafficking has a rippling effect towards the audience and societies perspective.
Positively using the media can influence society and can possibly help fight against human
trafficking. The Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), along with the Convention on the
Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), and the 14th Amendment
have all stated their views against human trafficking. The United States Department of State (2015)
states, "trafficking in persons," "human trafficking," and "modern slavery" have been used as
umbrella terms for the act of recruiting, harboring, transporting, providing, or obtaining a person for
compelled labor or commercial sex acts through the use of force, fraud, or coercion" (p. 7). Human
trafficking is mostly thought of as sex trafficking of woman and children but this is not the only way
traffickers use woman and children. Women, children, and men are all subject to different types of
servitude. The most widely recognized one

Summary Of Toward The North Star By Eudora Welty
In the article "Toward the North Star: Eudora Welty's "A Worn Path" and the slave narrative" by
Kevin Moberly, the author Kevin Moberly connects the obstacles that appear in the path to the slave
narrative and argues that the journey Phoenix Jackson makes is a journey that does not lead to
freedom, but it leads into successive stages of bondage. He also argues that Phoenix's crossing also
suggests a descent into slavery and bondage. For example, the tapping of Phoenix Jackson' cane
links her to a symbol of freedom and voice "the chirping of a solitary little bird" (142). Throughout
the journey she encounters different obstacles the first ones are the "woods" and "hills". She is
struggling up the hills, but she maintains her balance. While walking, she complains about how
difficult it has become to walk this path, no doubt that she has traveled this path so many times.
Climbing the hills, it gives an illusion to bondage. On the way she encounters "thorn bushes", she
struggles to release herself, but gets caught into another "Thorns, you doing your appointed work.
Never want to let folks pass, no sir. Old eyes, though you were a pretty little green bush" Phoenix
says while feeling a sense of deception. When one examines the first incident that undoubtedly
recalls a trope of a slave narrative tradition, Phoenix says, "Now comes the trails," she then proceeds
to cross the log with her eyes shut "like a festival figure in some parade" (143). Phoenix actions,

A handful of conflicted characters, a substantial amount of drama, and a dash of enlightenment –
this is what makes up "The Razor's Edge" by W. Somerset Maugham. After initial character
introduction, this book quickly reveals how unwise it is to put complete faith in first impressions. At
first glance, Laurence Darrell and Isabel Bradley appear to be the epitome of an early 1900s couple:
young, naive, and extremely in love. Looking closer, Isabel seems to be the one in control of their
relationship. Larry is dependent upon Isabel for companionship, having grown up without a true

Slavery has been a correlating characteristic among all major civilizations. The Sumerians made
those they conquered their slaves, and used them for manual labor. The Egyptians made their slaves
build large extravagant tombs for the pharos. Romans also forced those they capture into servitude,
but the Romans also turned slavery into a commodity which allowed it to be capitalized. There
where laws that allowed a father to sell his child in to slavery. The development of all of the great

"And you who are so busy in making that division of the captives, look with pity upon so much
misery" (Yazawa Pg. 19), this statement expresses how one Portuguese seaman felt when loading up
the captured slaves. He lets the reader know that he is feeling compassion for these slaves.
Empathizing and sympathizing is natural, extended exposure to these slave trades would leave the
sailors stripped of these natural feelings. In My Bondage My Freedom, Douglass tells us that Mrs.
Auld was teaching him how to read until her husband found out. Her husband had informed her that
this boy was not a boy but property, and if educated could cause problems. After that discussion she
ignored her nurturing, motherly instincts and would treat and look at Douglass in distain. The last
group that is affected by slavery is those in which do not own slaves and are not a slave themselves.
Initially one would assume that there would be no correlation to the cause and effect of slavery to
this particular group of individuals, but in fact there is. Slavery being cheap labor is not free labor.
In slavery there is a financial cost expended by the slave holder. This cost is induced through food,
housing and more importantly training and tools to complete production. The slaves were trained in
handling tools to complete tasks. Many of the non–slave owners did not have

The goal of tantra is to transcend duality caused by the spiritual ignorance and bondage that prevent
people from realizing the truth of Ultimate Reality (p261). Tantrics attempt to weave the dualistic
beliefs together through the Right Hand and Left Hand paths. The Left Hand path is the path of
impurity and pollution through the 5 M's. The 5 M's are mamsa (flesh), matsya (fish), madya
(liquor), mudra (parched grain, sacred gestures or female sexual partner), and the maithuna (sexual
union) (p265). Tantrics believe that by embracing these impure aspects it will break the bonds of

Slavery In Ancient Greece
For as long as anyone can remember, humans have been enslaved. America and Americans are
certainly not the first nation or first people to have owned their fellow human beings.
In Ancient Greece, more than 2500 years ago, and the surrounding city states, slavery was the
normal condition, not the exception. It was not primarily an ethnicity or race issue. Slavery or
ownership of another was an act of misfortune. When a freeman came across a slave, his thoughts
were not about, race or education, he thought how unfortunate, for you, that you had been captured
in war. The pillaging and plundering of other states and the taking of humans into bondage was just
a common act for all people living at that time. Egypt was compelled to release their slaves

Subjugation In Thomas Jefferson
All through his whole life, Thomas Jefferson was a predictable rival of subjugation. Calling it an
"ethical depravity" and a "revolting blot," he trusted that subjugation introduced the best risk to the
survival of the new American nation. Jefferson likewise imagined that subjection was in opposition
to the laws of nature, which proclaimed that everybody had a privilege to individual liberty. These
perspectives were radical in reality as we know it where unfree work was the standard. At the season
of the American Revolution, Jefferson was effectively engaged with enactment that he trusted would
bring about subjection's abolition. In 1778, he drafted a Virginia law that precluded the importation
of subjugated Africans. In 1784, he proposed a statute that would boycott servitude in the Northwest
territories. But Jefferson constantly kept up that the choice to liberate slaves would need to be a
piece of a just procedure; annulment would be hindered until the point when slaveowners agreed to
free their human property together in a vast scale demonstration of liberation. To Jefferson, it was
against majority rule and in spite of the standards of the American Revolution for the national
government to authorize annulment or for just a couple of grower to free their slaves. In spite of the
fact that Jefferson kept on pushing for annulment, the truth was that bondage was winding up more
settled in. The slave populace in Virginia soar from 292,627 out of 1790 to 469,757 out of

The narrator was a round and dynamic character, that indicates the idea that his character was

Different Types Of Human Trafficking

  • 1. Different Types Of Human Trafficking Human trafficking is an ongoing criminal industry that affects the lives of many individuals as well as deny them the simple right of freedom. There are three main kinds of human trafficking which are all different from each other, yet still impact a huge population of the U.S. Sex trafficking, labor trafficking, and debt bondage are the different kinds of human trafficking that affect people in the US. In addition, within sex trafficking, there is also the existence of child sex trafficking and prostitution. According to the International Labor Organization, there is an estimated 209.9 million incidents of human trafficking worldwide. The Department of Home Land Security defines human trafficking as modern–day form of slavery involving the illegal trade of people for exploitation or commercial gain. This definition applies to the three different forms of human trafficking, but the purpose behind each one are quite different. Sex trafficking consists of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A lack of strong labor protections is just some of the vulnerabilities that can lead to labor trafficking. In addition, victims of labor trafficking are affected by this due to different reasons like perhaps being promised a higher paying job or new and exciting opportunities. Labor trafficking includes but are not limited to: people forced to working in homes as domestic servants, farmworkers coerced through violence as they harvest crops, or factory workers held in inhumane conditions. Additionally, in construction work, health and beauty services, door–to–door sales crew, and carnivals. Although the current information being presented is discussing only about what occurs in America, globally there are 14.2 million people trapped in forced labor in industries including agriculture, construction, domestic work, and manufacturing, according to the International Labor ... • 2. The Ransom Theory I really appreciate Evan's through insight on the Ransom theory. I think that the distinction of the Ransom theory from the others is that it involves the third party – Satan in the loop. It is important to realize the existence of the evil force on earth. John states clearly that "We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one." (1 Jn. 5:19) And we can see from the temptation in the wilderness story, Satan is already the enemy of Christ. (Matt. 4) It is clear that Satan plays a significant role to tempt humans intentionally for them to abandon God. It happened in the very early beginning of the human history. Thus, the Ransom theory has a strong point to include Satan to emphasize Jesus' ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Sex Trafficking Research Paper "Each year, an estimated 800,000 women and children are trafficked across international borders– though additional numbers of women and girls are trafficked within countries (Soroptimist)." Sex trafficking is when females are sexually exploited for the intention of forced sex. The pimps who exploit these people earn money in return. There is sexual exploitation that occurs through commercialization such as pornography and prostitution. Sex trafficking does not only occur for women and girls, there is a small population of men and boys in this industry. There has been an increase in sexual trafficked victims in Europe. Over 30,146 people have been registered as victims of human trafficking and 69% of these 30,146 people are sexually exploited ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When victims are taken in, they face legal barriers because their forms of immigration and other legal documents are taken away. The victims are instilled with fear, which is why most do not attempt to escape. Pimps move their victims from place to place due to which the victims face language barriers and have limited knowledge of the habitat and people around them. The victims do not have a lot of money, which complicates their lives even more. They are helpless and cannot gain freedom. (Deshpande, Nour) Many criminal activities spring up due to sex trafficking. One is obviously prostitution and the second most common criminal act is selling of drugs. The victims would sell the drugs, and when arrested, they would be punished. Sex trafficking increases crimes and is the cause of the devastation of many lives. There has to be drastic measurements taken to combat this problem. Prostitution should be completely criminalized and when a prostitute is arrested, he or she should not be convicted but instead their boss should be. The pimps are the ones that make the people sell their bodies so the pimps should be punished under the law, not the victims. Since sex trade is an industry that involves a lot of foreign transportation, there should be stricter borderline security so less of these acts can occur. Sex trade is a rising industry and should be destroyed or else it will swallow the lives of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Goblin Market Looking at Feminism Through the Lens of Religion in "Goblin Market" In "Goblin Market," Christina Rossetti presents a complicated, multi–layered poem with both feminist and religious elements. She focuses on the contrast between the bondage and freedom of women. Through imagery and symbolism, Rossetti teaches a feminist lesson through a religious perspective. Imagery reveals the bondage of women, while symbolism is used to represent their freedom. The poem is a process of facing challenges and overcoming them. While the plot seems religious in nature, characters and other details show a feminist purpose that Rossetti could have in writing "Goblin Market." The rich imagery in the narrator's numerous lists of fruit represents specific areas of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The narrator describes the girls' day saying they "kneaded bread"(Rossetti 205), "churned butter" (207), and "[t]alked as modest maidens should"(209). These activities are traditionally female. Rossetti elevates females above daily chores by portraying women as victorious and ultimately savior–like in the end of the poem. Thus, Rossetti uses the symbolic representation of Lizzie as a way to lift up women. Additionally symbolic, the goblins may represent human men. Since they are the antagonists of this poem, and a woman is the hero of the poem, it would seem Rossetti is purposely giving women the upper hand. This "upper hand" does not last forever. The conclusion of the work leaves both Lizzie and Laura married and living domestic lives. Readers can question the intentions of Rossetti in ending the work in this way. She may be sadly accepting society's perceptions of women, or she may be making a point that even if women can be strong and heroic, the man is always over them. The latter idea would be controversial to the bulk of the poem, but is still a possibility. By creating a hero who is a woman, Rossetti goes against ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Human Trafficking Thesis Opening Statement The crisis of human trafficking has been an issue for centuries, what is the root of the problem? Why is this atonable crime still an issue in 2015? Exercise of human trafficking is stimulated by the absence of economic advantage, opportunity in the work force, and gender discrimination. As Shelley says in her article, "Human Trafficking as Transnational Organized Crime," there are both push and pull factors that stimulate the result of human trafficking. The pull factor incorporates the demand for workers and the idea of better living conditions. However, she goes on to say that this alone cannot serve as the main cause because most of these conditions have existed. Shelley believes that the main reason why human trafficking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To begin with and the most obvious, slavery is no longer recognized as a legal institution. Also, slaveholders now cannot depend on property law which allowed the slaves to be in their possession. Another change is debt bondage. Debt bondage is when enslaved people are suppose to repay the costs of their own trafficking and living expenses. The slaves will get paid for their services however, the money typically will go towards their traveling costs. Even though debt bondage has been around since classical time, the difference between then and now is that in today's time it generally involves abduction or imprisonment. Kevin Bales, professor of sociology at Roehampton University in London, England argues that, "Those held in modern–day slavery are viewed as expendable in a way that those held in traditional slavery were not." Bales further makes the analogy that buying a slave in today's time is like purchasing an inexpensive bike whereas, in previous times it was like buying a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Critical Analysis Of Incidents In The Life Of A Slave Girl... Introduction Incidents in the life of a slave girl by Harriet Jacobs accentuates that the slavery system is evil and no good can be associated with it. Jacobs shows that slavery by its very nature extinguishes the morality and ethical values of slaveholders. Likewise, she highlights on the physical, psychological, health, social, and mental adverse implications of the slavery systems to the victims. Contrary, the seventh Vice–President of the United States of America and longtime Senator John C. Calhoun propagates on the significance of the slavery institution citing the benefits to the slaveholders and the slaves. At the time, acknowledgment of universal basic rights and freedoms of all people had spread across all States and slavery was recognized as a "necessary evil". Calhoun stated "I take the higher ground. I hold that in the present state of civilization, where two races of different origin, and distinguished by color, and other physical differences, as well as intellectual, are brought together, the relation now existing in the slaveholding States between the two, is, instead of an evil, a good–a positive good". His primary justification of the sentiments was buttressed on the defects of capitalism, interventionism, and white supremacy. Calhoun deconstructed the notion that slavery was evil by presenting the inevitability of the conflict between labor and capital. He noted that in other jurisdictions such as the United Kingdom, a proportion of the population was not always treated right. The speech anchored the prominence of the Senator as an advocate of the rights of the minority in the South, but he did it at the expense of another minority; African American. The Context and Audience of Jacob's Narrative The novel was written and published at a time when slavery was a sensitive issue and had divided Americans. In the 1850s, Americans had emotive discussions on whether to allow slavery in the newly created territories such as Kansas and California. Temporary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis of 'The Escape' Analysis of the story "The Escape" by W.S. Maugham William Somerset Maugham is one of the best known English writers of the 20th century. He was not only a novelist, but also a one of the most successful dramatist and short–story writers. Maugham wants the readers to draw their own conclusion about the characters and events described in his novels. His reputation as a novelist is based on the following prominent books: "Of Human Bondage"; "The Moon and Sixpence"; and "The Razor's Edge". Though Maugham doesn't denounce the contemporary social order, he is critical of the morals and the narrow–mindedness. • 8. Spinoza: Clarifications and Criticisms on Freedom Essay Baruch de Spinoza, or as later known by Benedictus de Spinoza, was a 17th century philosopher that came under much hostility because of his renunciation of the accepted religious perceptions of god. This is not to say that Spinoza repudiated god's existence, on the contrary, Spinoza considered himself to believe in god, but in a different more natural sense. Spinoza received much denunciation and criticism for his beliefs from religious figure heads. He was excommunicated from the Jewish community because his ideas were contrary and revolutionary to the traditional Jewish religion. In addition to that, all works of Spinoza were considered prohibited by the Roman Catholic Church. This is not to say that no one agreed with Spinoza, in fact, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cause of error (P II Pr. 49 Sch.) is the last major theme for part II. The third part is mainly about human psychology. Spinoza elucidates how the power characteristic of the human mind is understanding, and that we should exercise our understanding. This is established through the proposition (PII Pr. 6) that "Each thing, in so far as it is in itself, endeavors to persist in its own being." Part four is about human bondage, and continues the investigation into human behavior that part three hit on. Part four is the key that summarizes the Ethics by what man can do to escape that bondage with the power we have by taking action and preserving what is to our own advantage. "The more every man endeavors and is able to seek his own advantage, that is, to preserve his own being, the more he is endowed with virtue." (P IV Pr. 20) What Spinoza is saying is that virtue and power (seeking one's advantage) is synonymous. The last part, part five is about human freedom, the type of freedom that of which is acted out by necessity. Intuitive knowledge comes out to play in part five where "the intellectual love of god" is brought up. By the love of god, human can gain some freedom and immortality. We have now taken an extremely basic look into Spinoza's belief system which gives us some background into the criticisms of Spinoza's view. We can now delve into the criticisms and at the same time espouse a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Psychological Complexities Of The Kite By W. Somerset... The demand that this question has put before me is to analyze psychological complexities of Herbert, protagonist of the story "The Kite" written by W. Somerset Maugham. In order to focus on this element, my argument will dilate upon events and factors that shaped what Lacan had called "I– ness". This story revolves around a family consisting of husband, wife and a son Herbert. Mrs. Sunbury, Herbert's mother, had always controlled her son and when he fell in love with Betty, she played very thriftily to take her son back. • 13. Characteristics Of Somerset Maugham's Writing Style William Somerset Maugham was considered to be the popular English fiction writer of the 20th century. He wrote many novels, plays and short stories, many of those were admired as master pieces. It drew attention of the critics and readers due to its multi–dimensional aspects, which offered entertainment including the serious issues of human life, for that matter it resulted in being popular fiction of the time. His popularity urged many critics to analyze his work from different dimensions. The critics discussed his works with the advantage to explore the qualities of writer as well as to point out the flaws of his work. The critics discovered many themes along with stylistic features of his novels in plays and short stories. He justifies popularity of Maugham as a writer by providing two reasons: firstly, he has the capability to create a plot which is direct, it goes on with "linear clarity" that no one can find obscurity in the plot. Secondly, his quality to develop the "dramatic intensity" has remarkable effects on the story that it turns the characters into "demonic forces" (16). The Global Impact Of Human Trafficking The Global impact of Human Trafficking Human trafficking is a global issue that receives very little attention throughout the modern world; this issue effects every country on the global and all different types of cultures. Hillary Clinton said in 2009 "Trafficking thrives in the shadows, and it can be easy to dismiss it as something that happens to someone else, in somewhere else, but that is not the case. Trafficking is a crime that involves every nation on earth, and that includes our own." I will explore the how economic impact on the western world because of human trafficking for labor to the impact of human trafficking for sexual exploitation in poverty–stricken and industrial countries, while also looking at the different types of individuals that are impacted by human trafficking. I will explain some of the local and global laws in place for human trafficking victims and their traffickers. This will include the laws that the United Nations has put in position to safeguard victims of human trafficking throughout the world. Asking the question, can we do more on a local and global scale to protect victims of trafficking and the prosecution of traffickers and if so what? In the 1999 film The Matrix, ideas that Plato presented in the "Allegory of the Cave" resurfaced as the story line of this film. In the film there are two worlds. A virtual reality and a true reality. Just as cave dwellers in the Allegory know of only one reality, the inhabitants of the virtual reality(the matrix) know of only one world, even though that world does not even truly exist. All the experiences a person has in the matrix are only a mental representation of what they believe to be happening, similar to the cave dwellers' belief that the shadows presented before them were actually real. The matrix is a mental bondage that has been placed on the entire population of human beings just as Plato's chains and shackles represented the mental bondage of the cave dwellers. Escaping the matrix was painful, just as entering the sunlight for the cave dwellers. Comprehending the new world outside the matrix was the equivalent of comprehending the world outside the cave. Once free of the bondage of the matrix, a person can be lead to the door of acceptance of the this new reality; however just as the cave dwellers, a person has to walk through the door at one's own will.(The Matrix) Today many people live a "fantasy world" that has no true basis in reality. My Bondage And My Freedom And Frederick Douglass Analysis Authors often exaggerate or revise small details of their own books in order to produce an emotion in the reader instead of a factual representation. However, this does not make authors to be liers, only fabricators. In times or social unjust it is necessary for the oppressed to voice their opinions for the purpose of gaining equality. As it may seem immoral to twist truths, if done correctly it will strengthen the author's message, without compromising the authenticity of the plot. Through using David Blight as a lens one may observe a shift of Douglass' intentions in order to put a greater emphasis his own on African beliefs for the purpose of bringing freedom to his brethren. In Blight's introduction he makes the observation, "Readers will find many influences of the Garrisonian doctrines, especially the attacks on religious hypocrisy and the remarkable moment in chapter two when Douglass compares trusted slaves who pleased overseers with the slaves of political parties ... the book is as much an abolitionist polemic as it is a revealing autobiography" (10). Blight's remarks direct one to consider that Douglass was pursuing two causes, the abolitionist cause as well as his own. In pursuing the former, in 1845 Douglass was still associated with Garrison, by later accentuating other slaves as knowledgeable and in touch with their roots, in My Bondage and My Freedom, Douglass elucidates the African race as compassionate men rather than brutes. Maugham writes of the merchant going to the marketplace to confront Death about the encounter with his servant. This gesture shows that not only did the merchant care for the life of his servant, but it also shows that he had a certain curiosity about Death and her intentions. The act of confronting Death also shows that the merchant did not fear Death since he believed that Death posed no threat to him because she was here explicitly for his servant. Death is the main character, as well as the narrator of this story, yet the author provides us with no real description of her other than calling her a woman. Death narrates this tale in a way that leads us to believe that she is almost an omniscient being in the way that she is able to describe the dialogue between the servant and his master, but an omniscient narrator is incapable of being surprised himself or herself and we find this not to be the case in this story. I believe the author intended to do this in order to make Death appear mysterious, yet also familiar to the reader. Once Death is given human elements, like the ability to be surprised, it gives the illusion that one can cheat death. I find it rather peculiar that in this tale we are led to believe that Death was very easily recognizable. The servant knew immediately that the woman that "jostled"(pg. 4) him was Death. We also read that the merchant went to the marketplace and could see Death standing in the crowd(pg. 4). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many forms of human trafficking and slavery is taking place in our world today. It is horrible and no one should have to experience what those victims have gone through. This was not something Paul would have done, if enslavement was sinful, declared De Bow's Review, "Now, had holding slaves been a crime, Paul's duty to Philemon would have required him to instruct Philemon, that he had no rights over Onesimus, but that attempt to hold him in servitude, was criminal[.]" Moreover, as an Apostle of Christ, Paul had an obligation to instruct Christians according to His commands, as they pertained to human bondage, believed Hopkins. "And you who are so busy in making that division of the captives, look with pity upon so much misery" (Yazawa Pg. 19), this statement expresses how one Portuguese seaman felt when loading up the captured slaves. He lets the reader know that he is feeling compassion for these slaves. Empathizing and sympathizing is natural, extended exposure to these slave trades would leave the sailors stripped of these natural feelings. In My Bondage My Freedom, Douglass tells us that Mrs. Auld was teaching him how to read until her husband found out. Her husband had informed her that this boy was not a boy but property, and if educated could cause problems. After that discussion she ignored her nurturing, motherly instincts and would treat and look at Douglass in distain. The last group that is affected by slavery is those in which do not own slaves and are not a slave themselves. Initially one would assume that there would be no correlation to the cause and effect of slavery to this particular group of individuals, but in fact there is. Slavery being cheap labor is not free labor. In slavery there is a financial cost expended by the slave holder. This cost is induced through food, housing and more importantly training and tools to complete production. The slaves were trained in handling tools to complete tasks. • 36. Buddhism Hinduism Essay The goal of tantra is to transcend duality caused by the spiritual ignorance and bondage that prevent people from realizing the truth of Ultimate Reality (p261). Tantrics attempt to weave the dualistic beliefs together through the Right Hand and Left Hand paths. The Left Hand path is the path of impurity and pollution through the 5 M's. The 5 M's are mamsa (flesh), matsya (fish), madya (liquor), mudra (parched grain, sacred gestures or female sexual partner), and the maithuna (sexual union) (p265). • 37. Slavery In Ancient Greece For as long as anyone can remember, humans have been enslaved. America and Americans are certainly not the first nation or first people to have owned their fellow human beings. In Ancient Greece, more than 2500 years ago, and the surrounding city states, slavery was the normal condition, not the exception. It was not primarily an ethnicity or race issue. Slavery or ownership of another was an act of misfortune. When a freeman came across a slave, his thoughts were not about, race or education, he thought how unfortunate, for you, that you had been captured in war. The pillaging and plundering of other states and the taking of humans into bondage was just a common act for all people living at that time. Egypt was compelled to release their slaves ... • 38. Subjugation In Thomas Jefferson All through his whole life, Thomas Jefferson was a predictable rival of subjugation. Calling it an "ethical depravity" and a "revolting blot," he trusted that subjugation introduced the best risk to the survival of the new American nation. Jefferson likewise imagined that subjection was in opposition to the laws of nature, which proclaimed that everybody had a privilege to individual liberty. These perspectives were radical in reality as we know it where unfree work was the standard. At the season of the American Revolution, Jefferson was effectively engaged with enactment that he trusted would bring about subjection's abolition. In 1778, he drafted a Virginia law that precluded the importation of subjugated Africans. In 1784, he proposed a statute that would boycott servitude in the Northwest territories. But Jefferson constantly kept up that the choice to liberate slaves would need to be a piece of a just procedure; annulment would be hindered until the point when slaveowners agreed to free their human property together in a vast scale demonstration of liberation. To Jefferson, it was against majority rule and in spite of the standards of the American Revolution for the national government to authorize annulment or for just a couple of grower to free their slaves. In spite of the fact that Jefferson kept on pushing for annulment, the truth was that bondage was winding up more settled in. The narrator was a round and dynamic character, that indicates the idea that his character was complicated and exhibited numerous traits, he seemed like a real man; his dynamics was seen in the structure of the text: in the first paragraph there was stated that giving advice is a dangerous thing, but the whole story showed the positive outcome of the act of it. The narrator, first, was willing to give the advice, he was a little bit careless, but in the introduction he decided that it was a dangerous thing, he changed his views. The narrator was a doctor, but he did not practice. Instead of it he travelled and wrote a book about Spain. I can say that he preferred writing to medicine, he was versatile, liked to try new things and feelings, and he was interested in life. Some time later he did not want to give advices, so he was not eager to take responsibility for other people' lives; it does not mean that he was a coward; it means that he did not want them to do unchangeable mistakes in their lives.
