DEFINE BUS?
 In computer architecture, a bus is a
communication system that transfers data
between components inside a computer, or
between computers.
 This expression covers all related hardware
components (wire, optical fiber, etc.) and
software, including communication protocols.
2
DIFFERENT TYPES OF BUSES:
 There are 3 types of bus in the computer
architecture.
 These are the major types of bus in the
computer. They are:
 1. Data bus
 2. Address bus
 3. control bus
3
DATA BUS: THE DATA BUS ALLOWS DATA TO TRAVEL
BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN THE MICROPROCESSOR
(CPU) AND MEMORY (RAM).
ADDRESS BUS: THE ADDRESS BUS CARRIES
INFORMATION ABOUT THE LOCATION OF DATA IN
MEMORY.
CONTROL BUS : THE CONTROL BUS CARRIES THE
CONTROL SIGNALS THAT MAKE SURE EVERYTHING
IS FLOWING SMOOTHLY FROM PLACE TO PLACE.
4
WHAT IS THE ROLE OF BUSES IN
COMPUTER SYSTEM?
 The system bus connects the CPU, memory, and
the input/output devices. It carries data, address,
and control information. The speed of the system
bus is an important part of the performance of
a computer system, just like the speed of the
CPU and the size of the memory.
5
HOW DOES THE BUS WORK?
 The bus provides a communication path for the
data and control signals moving between the
major components of the computer system. The
system bus works by combining the functions of
the three main buses: namely, the data, address
and control buses.
