2. Difference between News
and Narrative
News and narrative are different in various way but the
major difference between these two form of writing is
defined here.
Both have their own importance but there is utmost need
for student to differentiate for the better understanding of
news writing and reporting.

3. 1.Narrartive is a longer piece of writing than
news which is in shorter form.
2.New contain only important information on
the other hand Narrative has detailed
information.
3.Narrative is found in chronological order
but these sequence couldn’t be found in
News.

4. 4.News is designed in the inverted pyramids
where the information is categorized from
most to least important unlike narrative.
5.In Narrative, metaphors and simile are
mostly used to enhance its meaning for the
attraction of reader but the news used simple
words to make it easy for the reader of news.

5. 6.News has its proper structure to follow while
writing but narrative are versatile in style and
structure.
7.News is the actual report of happening in the
society with the facts and figure while narrative is
not bound to address facts and figure .
8. A narrative is a story that has a beginning,
middle and end . unlike news which is more
focused on present condition of that story.

6. 9.News is always fast and updated. news
more than an hour or two old maybe
considered stale while narrative is not bound
with the limitation of time.
10.Newsis purely objective where there is no
place for opinion there is separate segment
for expression of opinion( editorial, column
etc.) where narrative is mostly embellished
with the writer thought.
