- The student has been experimenting with different graphic design techniques like neon effects and 3D elements to influence their magazine production. They completed tutorials on neon glasses, adding shapes to images, and 3D flowers. - The experiments helped the student learn what effects they enjoy making and will include in their project. It also helped them identify any problems to address before production. - While the experiments are influencing their work, the student wants to further study magazine cover designs to create an attractive, unique cover that draws in their target audience for their graphic design magazine.

2. REFLECTIVE JOURNAL:

3. Reflective Journal Week 1
• Why is this important to you? What I have done so far is, started on the contextual Research about what I’m wanting to my project about so that is graphic design and then
I research people who have made graphic design products and found out information about them. I also did photography as I will be taking pictures so I thought I’d find some information about
photography and people that do that as a job. I also did the proposal about what I will be doing and who its targeted at which will be my age group between 15-25 year old's as I will find that
the best for me as I know some what my age group like the most where if i did anything older I wouldn’t know what they would be interested in.
• What worries you about the project? Why is this important to you? This is important to me because I’m wanting to make my product appeal to my age
group and appeal to myself as well and enjoy making it at the same time as I will struggle with ideas and creativity when making it which is an important part to
making this project because I want it to look good and appeal to my target audience.
• What went well? I personally think that I got enough information that was related to what we had to find, which was information about what we are
wanting to do which for me is graphic design and then find information about people in that industry. I do feel like I could of got a little more but what I go so far, I
found that I know more about them and saw their work which helped with knowing what direction I anted to go as graphic design is a wide range and do whatever
you like in a way.
• What skills do you already have that will help you produce it? The skills I already have from doing my other projects are going to really help me
out with this one as I know what I liked and prefer to do when it comes to working who photoshop. Its helpful knowing where all the tools are and knowing how to
use them as it saves time having to search for them and learn how to use them. I also think another skill is the researching part I feel over these last 2 years
practicing on where and what is good resources to find information out is very useful when it comes to finding new ideas or to just developing on them.
• What areas do you need to develop confidence in? I personally think my weaknesses are in the initial plans and research part as I don’t put enough
information down or I just don’t plan is in a very good way to prevent my work so I will need to make sure that is all perfect. I have found this out by doing the little
projects throughout these 2 years and noticing im not getting merits or higher on them so Im wanting to make sure I improve on that for this project so I get the
grade I want.
• Doing it all again? If I was going to do it again I would maybe add more as its still not very detailed and I also found it a little difficult to find a lot of information
that was related to what I was needing. I find with researching about people that do jobs like photography and graphic design is hard to find a lot of information
even though it mentions a lot about what work they did but I wanted more about why they go into it and what’s their reasoning to it, I felt that, that information
was hard to find. Along with books about them either what they have done or what other people have done on them they weren’t very big, well known in a way as I
could really find anything that was catching my eye about the people I collected.

4. Week 2
What went well? What I think have gone well this week is that I have collected images from the internet of what I think I would like to do
for my own work. As you can see from the screenshots down below, they are all colourful and all different which is what I’m wanting to
achieve in my work, im wanting them all to be unique for each page so that’s why I have collected different graphic design styles so that’s
why I’ve got different themes.
What would you do differently? What I would of done differently is maybe get more images of the inside the double page spread
instead of just the front cover, however I have collected 2 on the last page but I feel I should get more to get a lot more ideas for my product
but I think the ones I have collected are good but I feel getting more will help me out a little more.
What could I do next time? What I could do next time is a little similar to what I have mentioned in the last one was add more double
page spreads to get a little more ideas and maybe add a little more about them I feel that I haven’t really written a lot for them as it was
quite hard to think of things to write and just explain what im wanting to do.
If I could do it again what would I do? If I would do it again, it’s similar to again what I have written for the last 2 is add more image
and text to make it better for myself and to just look like I know what I’m wanting to do which I do but for some reason im struggling to
explain it.

5. Week 3
• What do you think have been the strengths of your research so far? My strengths for the research so far I think are getting
the information I want for what im wanting to, it has given me a solid idea to what to do as well as I wasn’t too sure on where I was going
with this graphic design idea so by doing some research about it its helped a lot.
• Do you think there are other areas that you might still need to work on? I personally think there is as im finding myself
not writing a lot and doing a lot on my work as im struggling to find a huge amount of information but enough for what im wanting to do. I
feel that I need to get more like surveys maybe or questions to my research and maybe more secondary work as I only have a coupe of slides
on that.
• What has been the most unexpected finding in your research? The most unexpected finding in the research would have to
be when I was doing the secondary research I find that most of the work people produce are focused more online now which does make
sense as nearly everyone has a phone and uses the internet and social medias. But I was expecting graphic design work to also be popular
still on print as that’s where it started and because its graphic design I thought you’d want to really look at what has been done.
• What specific impacts will this research have on your project? The specific parts that will impact on my project is the part by
finding out what people like about the research I have collected to see what they like about it and don’t like about it which will help me when
it comes to doing experiments trying them out what they like and then doing for my actual product. Its helpful and useful which will make my
work better than just doing what I like to do.

6. Week 4
• Quick overview of the problems you have thought about? What I have thought of so far when doing my problem solving work is that it’s made me realise that
problems can happen easily, thinking about the things I’m wanting to do and seeing what I having to use/do to achieve that is by using the computer, if anything happens to the
computer than everything that I want to do wont be achievable as everything I need to do is got to require a computer.
• What is the biggest problem you think you will face? How will you try and avoid it? I think the biggest problem that could happen is the computer crashes
or it freezes on me which has happened before on the computer I am on so to try and avoid that, I will have to remember to keep saving every 10 minutes to make sure if anything does
happen then at least I wont lose too much of my work as I will keep saving my work.
• What further problem solving or testing are you expecting to do this week? What I am wanting to do this week is do one more photoshop tutorial as I have
done 2 and they’re quiet similar to each other so I want to do something a little different to experiment something new before doing it before my actual project. I will then write about
them explaining how I did it and what might have been a problem when doing it.
• Why do you think we are doing problem solving? I think we are doing problem solving because it makes you think of the things that could possibly happen when doing
your work, which is important as this project is very important and will want everything to go well and smooth so it works out fine so by doing problem solving it makes you think about
things that could possibly happen.
• What do you think about your greatest strengths in this project? The greatest strengths in this project is realising what might happen and seeing what you will
actually be doing as I thought about the equipment I will be using and then the time management making sure I have enough time and planned it out well for when doing my
production as that is the most important part to this project. So the greatest strength is just making you think about what you’re going to do and what could possibly happen.
• How is it going so far? Are you concerned about anything? I think its going well so far because its making me realise the situations that might happen and I’ve got
to experiment with photoshop, what I might do for my actual project so experimenting before it helps out a lot as you can see what went well and what you might need to practice on
before doing it for the project. Im not concerned about anything just yet so far so when anything starts to concern me I will update my weekly dairy and will explain what has happened.

7. Week 5
• Brief overview of what you did last week.What I did last week was more experiments for what I might do for my actual product. I wanted to see if there was
anything else I could possibly do to make my product be more exciting to look at and to just be a little more interesting. Im finding that im leaning more towards a neon look which I like
but I also want a different direction as it might get repetitive after a while so im trying to find more creative ones that don’t require neon to it. I also wanted to do more experiments
because I wanted to see if there were going to be any problems when doing them, so I know for next time what to either miss out or practice on to make it look better than my first
attempt instead of just going straight in and having a lot of problems to fix.
• What experiments did you do and what did you learn? The experiments I did were more on the neon side so I found some on YouTube the ones I
liked the look off and tried them out to see if id liked to include them into my actual project. So I did another neon look after the one I did last week which I made the glasses that a
model was wearing glowy which I liked the look off so I might include that in my project. I then did something else to the one I did last week which you will see when I add pictures of it,
I added some shapes to the image to add more colour and to just make it have more interesting parts to it. Then the last experiment I did was something different which had nothing to
do with neon its flowers and a boarder around it with some of the flowers on top of it which makes it look 3d which I liked the look of as well. Im wanting loads of different tutorials so I
can experiment with different effects as I want my magazine to look different and just have a lot of fun work inside of it.
• How will those experiments influence your production? The experiments that I have done influence my production is by doing something that I
enjoy and the experiments that I have done so far I’ve enjoyed making so it makes me excited to do it for my production. I think finding things you enjoying making, makes the
production part easy and makes you want to do well as you have something you’re wanting to do.
• Is there anything else that you feel you need to learn before production starts? What I would like to learn before doing my
production is maybe see how front cover of magazines look like properly to make sure I know what attracts the audience and see what looks good as I don’t want a simple looking
magazine cover as my magazine is about graphic design so its not based on one thing so I don’t want the cover to look boring as its meant to be unique so it stands out for my audience.
